Located in Downtown Scranton this charming little restaurant offers numerous vintage pinball and video game to enjoy as well as music. Certain nights and times are 21 and over be sure to check if that pertains to you.

There are so many restaurants like this in the Pittsburgh so seeing one back home was pretty cool. It was packed but we were seated right away. I got thejr crab goombies. Absolutely delicious and just enough food for me for the night. Our waitress was great, she was pretty spread thin though. But she handled it well.

Our server was John G. and he was awesome. I had the fried zucchini and mac 'n cheese. Delicious! My husband had the fried chicken and waffles. Very tasty. My son had the NBA JAMbalaya. Very good. We had a really nice experience here and would definitely come again. Who could resist great food and tons of video games with some good music thrown in.

Good spot in downtown to get beers, drinks, bar food, and play videogames and pinball. Service is good. Beer selection is good especially if you like sours and IPAs. Cocktails are ok, just lots of alcohol to fuel the masses. Food is decent. Lots of shareable apps. Fun.

Charlie's Chicken Sandwich and about three potatoes worth of fries.

I am somewhat surprised to see some of the negative reviews. I went to Bartari twice this past weekend and both times were great. Taylor was behind the bar and she mixed up one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. So good in fact I had two. The staff was great fun. The food was plentiful and well priced. I can't think of a better experience for the price. I would highly recommend it and will definitely be back. The Chicken Sandwich was over the top and delicious.

If you're looking to book a party of more then 10+ people, don't do it. JP, the owners son, and manager said he would do chafing dishes. I called for a week to tell him which ones, I was told for six days he would call me back. I eventually showed up on Saturday and was told he was too busy planning and setting up a toy story pinball for his tournament the next day. I spent a half hour with the bartender talking about beer suggestions for towers the next day and tipped 50% on our bill to thank him. Sunday I call and am told he's busy dealing with a Halloween party and he'll call me later, eight hours later, we call and a day before the party at 8pm says he's no longer doing the chafing dishes for 40 people. We tried to call everyone and rearrange it for the SBC brewery or hatchet factory, but because we couldn't get everyone else we had about 25-30 people come. We wanted the chafing dishes for the ease of being able to get food without 10-15 plates shareable crowded on a table, with peoples dinner plates, and towers, the tables were so crowded servers didn't know where to put food. You know what solves that issue? Chafing dishes. Instead of making people walk up and down to three separate tables to find different food. The wings were horrible. We ordered 8 plates maybe? And six plates were left mostly uneaten. The moment you see them you know there burnt and overbreaded. Two of our guest said they bit into one and the breading was burnt, but the chicken was either undercooked or too soaked in grease so they physically got ill. The cupcakes came out on a dirty pizza tray, no sheet underneath, wtf? A party of 25-30 people show up and the manager avoids our table at all costs. He stared at the pinball tournament for hours at a table and avoided eye contact with us. Not once does he come to apologize for not following through with the chafing dishes. Not once does he come to check to make sure everything was okay on a table that ordered $800 worth of food and drinks. JP clearly demonstrated what his concerns are: money and his machines. If you're not a cabinet or pinball machine, he doesn't care. If you're spending money, he doesn't care about your experience, or the quality of his food. Bartari is still open because it has pinballs and cabinets, unique drafts, and an interesting/varying drink list. If there was any competition in the area it would be closed. The customer service of the JP is close to 0. The food ranges from subpar to inedible. It's equivalent of eating at Chuckee Cheese, all the wings were burnt and overcooked. The pizza is cheese and sauce on a half loaf of bread, it's the first thing your kids learn to cook when they're old enough to use the oven. This is not a place you go if you want good food, it's where you go for some cool games and drinks. Their tacos taste burnt, the ramen soup is sour. If you enjoy McDonald's and Burger King then you won't mind this food, but it's more likely McDonald's and Burger King won't burn it, or over bread it. Staff wise, Heather is a phenomenal server, one of the best in North East PA. She has a friendly personality, extraordinary customer service skills, she goes out of her way to make patrons feel welcome, and is the example of how the owners should treat their customers.

Lots of pinball (don't put quarters in Ghostbusters)

12/2/24 @ 1pm Fantastic beer selection! 20+ taps ready to go. Only one bartender/waiter working today, he hustled so hard, but definitely not enough to handle the customer flow. Steak and egg taco brunch were sub par. The steak was very dry, the flour tortilla was burnt black, and the side of potatoes sat in a pool of grease. Tried to play Ghostbusters pinball, and the machine wouldn't take my money/coins. Tried to play Star Wars arcade, and the controller/stick was so loose. It was impossible to aim. 3 arcade cabinets were off/not working. So much potential, but today did not live up to the expectations.

A lot of drinks on the cocktail menu included Gin and weren't really appetizing. The vibe wasn't very fun for an arcade bar. There were a lot of older arcade games and pinball machines. Over all it was okay, wouldn't go out of my way to visit again.

3 total people in the resturant/bar and the 2 employees were more concerned with talking to each other than waiting on the patrons.

We waited at the front a couple of minutes which was okay considering they seemed busy, but then some party entered and were attended to right away. We basically just followed that party because I overheard the there wwer only tables in the outdoor patio. We were able to establish contact with wait staff out there and so it began. Staff was friendly but service was slow. We were waited on by about 4 different persons, which was a little confusing, but if that what it takes to get served, then fine. Again, I am guessing they were understaffed. We ordered some BBQ ribs which were quite good but the half rack was small IMO. They have nothing on Kansas City, but it was still pretty good. They appear to BBQ their meats on the premises. Ambiance was okay, fine for BBQ and beer. If I lived in Scranton, maybe this place would be on the list of options, IDK.

Don't come here on Wing Night Wednesday…read more. We made the mistake of coming here on wing night. We got our appetizer, chips and dip. Chips were homemade and burnt... 3/10. Dip was fine, probably out of a packet. Little did we know those burnt chips would be the only thing we would be eating for an hour with little to no refills. Seemed to be forgotten about with us being inside and I guess everyone else in the back. After an hour, our food came out. I got the brisket tacos, they were good. 8/10. My table got a chicken cheesesteak and ask for no mushrooms and ofc it came out with mushrooms... We had to get the wings, the wings were good! An hour wait good? No. 7/10. It took a weird amount of time for our last entree to come out and it was just like chicken tenders on a bun, no love. Oh and the pulled pork sandwich was more like slop. Our waitress's excuse was that they had a new chef. Sooooo I guess they decided to start training this chef during service. Food - 8/10 Service - 5/10 Atmosphere - 7/10 Overall - 6/10

The breading was also soggy but the fish was very tender and nice. The chicken cheesesteaks were good, filling and yummy. The Ale Burger is a double smash burger with good flavor, and a good meal. The Buffalo Mac and cheese was spicy but enjoyable. The service wasssss slow and not very attentive. The manager had to come over and ask if we needed anything bc our server seemed to disappear. Really enjoyed a lunch with my family at Ale Mary's after spending a few hours at Steamtown…read more I found parking right up front on the street (lucky, plus the meters were off for the weekend according to staff). The service was slow, but once we were greeted our drinks and food came out quickly. The inside is spacious, it's in an old building dating back to the mid to late 1800's. The high ceilings and metal work inside gives an old industrial feel. The menu had a lot of tasty choices and the beer menu was fantastic. The list of the handhelds/sandwiches is too long to list, but I could have ordered any of them. They have over 100 small and large craft/international beers in bottles or cans and around 20 taps. I had a couple cans of delicious Russian River/WeldWerks collab Convivial which is a hazy imperial IPA. My wife really enjoyed their Buffalo Chicken Flatbread 13.95 - popcorn chicken, house wing sauce, cooper cheese, blue cheese, scallions. It was more than a serving, sizable and fresh. The flavors were balanced and outstanding. I had the Bison Cheesesteak 16.95 - Chipotle bison, pepperjack, bacon chutney, mushrooms, chipotle aioli, toasted hoagie roll. The flavors were balanced, roll was fresh, the serving was large and it was pretty darn good. The meat had a hot dog/pork pate taste. My 5 year old son ordered grilled chicken street tacos 13.95 - Pico de gallo, jalapeno sour cream, queso. Choice of grilled chicken or beef. It came with three and he ate half. We all had a bite and agreed they were fresh, easy to handle and had a delicious mix of flavors, especially the chicken and cheese. My other son had the House Grilled Cheese 9.95 - Boursin, pepperjack, & cooper cheeses on grilled brioche. He enjoyed it, but said it was a little spicy. Although they lacked a "kids menu" my guys found something they enjoyed. The inside was family friendly and they were treated well by the staff. We thought Ale Mary's was a great gastropub and will absolutely repeat when we are back in Scranton. Thanks guys!
