I am somewhat surprised to see some of the negative reviews. I went to Bartari twice this past weekend and both times were great. Taylor was behind the bar and she mixed up one of the best espresso martinis I've ever had. So good in fact I had two. The staff was great fun. The food was plentiful and well priced. If you're looking to book a party of more then 10+ people, don't do it. JP, the owners son, and manager said he would do chafing dishes. I called for a week to tell him which ones, I was told for six days he would call me back. I eventually showed up on Saturday and was told he was too busy planning and setting up a toy story pinball for his tournament the next day. I spent a half hour with the bartender talking about beer suggestions for towers the next day and tipped 50% on our bill to thank him. Sunday I call and am told he's busy dealing with a Halloween party and he'll call me later, eight hours later, we call and a day before the party at 8pm says he's no longer doing the chafing dishes for 40 people. We tried to call everyone and rearrange it for the SBC brewery or hatchet factory, but because we couldn't get everyone else we had about 25-30 people come. We wanted the chafing dishes for the ease of being able to get food without 10-15 plates shareable crowded on a table, with peoples dinner plates, and towers, the tables were so crowded servers didn't know where to put food. You know what solves that issue? Chafing dishes. Instead of making people walk up and down to three separate tables to find different food. The wings were horrible. We ordered 8 plates maybe? And six plates were left mostly uneaten. The moment you see them you know there burnt and overbreaded. Two of our guest said they bit into one and the breading was burnt, but the chicken was either undercooked or too soaked in grease so they physically got ill. The cupcakes came out on a dirty pizza tray, no sheet underneath, wtf? A party of 25-30 people show up and the manager avoids our table at all costs. He stared at the pinball tournament for hours at a table and avoided eye contact with us. Not once does he come to apologize for not following through with the chafing dishes. Not once does he come to check to make sure everything was okay on a table that ordered $800 worth of food and drinks. JP clearly demonstrated what his concerns are: money and his machines. If you're not a cabinet or pinball machine, he doesn't care. If you're spending money, he doesn't care about your experience, or the quality of his food. Bartari is still open because it has pinballs and cabinets, unique drafts, and an interesting/varying drink list. If there was any competition in the area it would be closed. The customer service of the JP is close to 0. The food ranges from subpar to inedible. It's equivalent of eating at Chuckee Cheese, all the wings were burnt and overcooked. The pizza is cheese and sauce on a half loaf of bread, it's the first thing your kids learn to cook when they're old enough to use the oven. This is not a place you go if you want good food, it's where you go for some cool games and drinks. Their tacos taste burnt, the ramen soup is sour. If you enjoy McDonald's and Burger King then you won't mind this food, but it's more likely McDonald's and Burger King won't burn it, or over bread it. Staff wise, Heather is a phenomenal server, one of the best in North East PA. She has a friendly personality, extraordinary customer service skills, she goes out of her way to make patrons feel welcome, and is the example of how the owners should treat their customers. read more

Steak and egg taco brunch were sub par. The steak was very dry, the flour tortilla was burnt black, and the side of potatoes sat in a pool of grease. Tried to play Ghostbusters pinball, and the machine wouldn't take my money/coins. Tried to play Star Wars arcade, and the controller/stick was so loose. I really hope the management sees this review and makes some changes, because I WANT this place to succeed. They've got a great lineup of games and beer. However, I've been coming here since they've been open, and the food has never been great. But lately, it's been terrible! I also can't recall all of the times they've simply screwed up my order, but I'd say it's about 1 in 3. If you're going to charge a premium for food, it better be consistently good, but charging that same premium for food that's inconsistently prepared or just plain inedible sends a message to your customers that you don't really care. Examples: overcooked burgers, brown or wilted lettuce, cold fries, soggy wings, bland tacos, etc. The menu is simple; it shouldn't be that difficult to produce consistently edible wings and sandwiches. Even when the food is well prepared, it's not that good, tbh. The "ramen" is probably the worst dish on the menu, but it might be overshadowed by the pizza, which may be the worst pizza in Scranton. Also It's 2022, and the lack of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free choices is shocking to say the least. There is a cooking school literally two blocks away. It wouldn't be that difficult to hire a fledgling chef to overhaul the menu, and it NEEDS to be overhauled. I am not the only one to notice how bad the food and service can be here, as other reviews have similar criticisms. I don't know whether the owner has an exaggerated sense of the quality of their food and service, but I'm writing this to warn them that this needs to change. I'll still be spending money here, as I mostly come for beer and games, but I'm done wasting my money on their food menu. I will happily change my review if this changes in the future. read more

Went here because I heard they had video games and I wasn't disappointed. They had over 10 pinball machines and over 30 arcade games. If you love old school games and even newer games this place is amazing. Some of the games they have are Pac-Man, mrs Pac-Man, dig dug, joust, mr do, frogger, space invaders, galaga, donkey Kong, and so many others. Went to play some games and a lot of them didn't work. You put money in and nothing happened. No one was around to assist, so that was frustrating. Me and hubster have wanted to try since we heard it was opening. While dating we were both arcade geeks. When greeted asked if we had reservations, although no one was there. It did fill up. We were there at about 6-7 pm. I had a cukeum drink. It was amazing!! We had wings, mild, they were big enough with a nice seasoning on them. We also got crabbie mushrooms. They were not worth the 8$. There were 4 that were the size of a quarter, more garnish than food. I think there was a balsamic reduction fizzed across the plate. I think the presentation was better than the actual mushrooms. Skip em. My husband had fish tacos. They had a very mushy consistency. I had fried chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. I asked for sriracha ranch on side. It was DRYYYYYY. Thank god for the ranch. I swear to you the cheese was a plastic. I was excited about the twice fried French fries. Don't be. They were browner than toast. They had no crunch to them except for the little ones. That being said...the place is great. Great brain child. The beer list could please the experts. A lot of choices. Most I've seen in a bit. I mean it is a bar. The idea for the place is awesome. You could leave your table and go play games and come back to eat. A GREAT selection of games. Very deceptive. Make sure to ask for a printed receipt! There were 6 people in our party who ate dinner. A few others came later on and got themselves drinks at the bar. After I asked for my check the waitress placed the electronic device in front of me and told me the total. I gave her my credit card and also asked for a printed receipt. It took until we were walking out for me to get the receipt. I handed her a cash tip and we left. It wasn't until the next day that I looked at the receipt. They charged me for a LARGE party and added a 20% tip on the bill that I was unaware of! I called to complain, the owner refused to do anything about it. So we gave a 40% tip for terrible service! Our dishes weren't cleared until we were ready to leave. We had to get our own drinks at the bar because the waitress was no where to be found for most of our stay! We will never go back there again! Also, 3 days later 9 of us ate at Franks Place in Simpson. The waitress made sure to tell us while handing us our check that the tip was already factored into the bill! This place is great- fun games that I played as a kid and my nephew gets to experience for the first time. Food is good and the staff is wonderful. Kept distance but still were attentive. My inner child rejoiced when I walked into this place. The have a very nice selection of vintage arcade video games and pinball machines. Tucked away in the corner they even have a few board games to play. I ordered the BYO burger and had no complaints at all. The crab fries were pretty good epically the cheese sauce they use. Being from MD we could instantly tell the crab meat was pasteurized but that wasn't that serious. This is a must stop if in the downtown area. read more
