The best seafood restaurant in Scranton and a must experience. The menu is full of different excellent dishes. Everything I tried was great in taste. Wide variety of beers. The interior decoration is one of a kind and a must see. It has a museum vibe to it, with many historical pictures, toys, collectible items, Art, and sculptures. I am going to guess that if all the decorative items were going to be sold, there's probably and estimated 1 Million value to all those items, just a guess. There is an area with souvenirs of The Office on sale and many items on display. As The Office was filmed in Scranton and it is one of the mayor attractions of the town, and part of it's cultural history. Scranton is full of history and this restaurant is part of it. Super cool atmosphere! This place is deceptively large and is literally a small museum. Every corridor is a work of art, a display of treasures honoring local history and niche interests alike. One could spend hours looking at the incredible shadowboxes, model trains, war memorabilia, movie displays, model ships, etc, not to mention the Dunder Mifflin gift shop! The food, however, is another story. The menu is large and varied and has some delicious appetizers (particularly the Bang Bang Srimp and the Crab Balls--addictive) and entrees too, but the very pricey stars of the menu leave much to be desired. The "Just Seafood" entree looks mouthwatering by description and costs forty effing dollars, but I'm being completely honest when I tell you everything on that plate was drier than a popcorn fart. The dish comes with shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat. The best thing on the plate was the THREE scallops they provided. The crab was genuinely the worst, driest crab I've ever had. Worse than low-quality frozen snow crab at Red Lobster or the grocery store. The shrimp was overcooked and pathetically seasoned with a light sprinkle of paprika (which fell mostly on one shrimp and none of the others). I had to salt my own food at the table because everything was flavorless. All in all, if you're in Scranton because you like The Office, stop here and have some CHEAP starters and drinks, grab some cool Dunder Mifflin merchandise at the gift shop, and enjoy all the awesome art they have at Coopers. Pay no mind to their expensive seafood, it sucks. Service: the waitstaff are lovely, friendly and attentive. They're great and deserve praise! read more

Crab bisque was delicious, as was my daughter's Manhattan Clam Chowder. Side salads were huge and super fresh. Wife had gluten free crab cakes and they even had a pick in them marked as gluten free so there was no confusion - this is an important consideration and she really enjoyed her meal. My crab cake sandwich was crispy and not soggy, and a generous portion, as were the fries and coleslaw that came with it. Cooper's is so iconic! It was a treat on this visit. We came for half price bottles of wine on a Wednesday. THE FOOD -alligator bites are a must have. They are so delicious, almost like a white fish taste and chicken consistency. We loved the remolaude they were served with. I think in the past they've done a buffalo sauce special of them as well which is just as good! And of course you get your gator taster pins -the fries are very well seasoned! We were here for a casual wine lunch (lol) and enjoyed splitting these two apps. THE DRINKS -in the summer on the patio it's always fun to get one of their speciality cocktails (tho many tend to be sugary, so be warned) today we were here for wine! -we chose a lovely bottle of Pinot Grigio that came out to maybe $11 after the special? Was great with our gator and fries. -they also had a wide selection of other wines and beer if you're looking for options! THE SERVICE -our server was super sweet and attentive! -she was knowledgeable but when I had a question she didn't know the answer to she made sure to ask the kitchen for me THE ATMOSPHERE -like I said, iconic. You're greeted by a shark, multiple pirates, a huge lighthouse, and an octopus overlooking all of that . -the different themes all around the restaurant and historic things to look at is incredible. You can have a new experience every time you go! As a kid I used to love looking at the little figurine displays inset in the walls and as an adult I still have to walk down the hallway and take a peek at the Flintstones. Overall, I will definitely be back as we really enjoyed our food (and I converted my friend to a gator eater!). I feel like quite a few years back the food seemed like it had gone downhill, but I can say with confidence my last few visits I over the past 4-5 years have definitely been delicious. I do enjoy a lot of things at this restaurant. My friend and I sat outside on the lower deck. It felt like we were at a beachside vacation spot. A nice get away from the everyday grind. For lunch I ordered the New England clam chowder which was a 8 out of 10 for lack of clams but yummy in flavor. The Bang Bang shrimp were meh sadly, overcooked other wise would be good. Fabulous as always but I have to shout out about Donato (our server) and Nicole (Hostess for her recommendation). We frequent Coopers about 2-3 times a month because its always consistent and delicious BUT tonight was exceptional. First of all Nicole suggest we eat up in the light house, (live music and nice table...not too loud where we were) because our usually area was filled. Delighted we took her advice. Donato was our waiter. He was PERFECT. Genuinely pleasant, attentive and so kind. The place was rocking with live music and large parties and Donato didn't miss a beat. We can see he was extremely busy but he literally was in total control of the situation and it made our evening very delightful and enjoyable. We chose Cooper's for dinner primarily because of their ties to The Office and we were glad we did. I chose the fish of the day which was Haddock. It was served broiled with your choice of two sides of which I chose broccoli and a garden salad. Husband had the fish and chips. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The veggies were fresh. The Haddock had a nice flavor. The fish and chips were light and not greasy as they sometimes can be. Our server was fantastic. So friendly and helpful with the menu. The vibe was sort of supper club, sort of out of this world. With vignettes throughout (including Star Wars, Flintstones, and GI Joe), a toy train that ran along the ceiling, a lighthouse that was part of the architecture, and, of course, an Office gift shop, there was a little bit of something for everyone. Sure, Cooper's is mentioned in The Office, but the seafood there is LEGIT! Went there for lunch today and ordered the special, which was a bowl of Maryland Crab Bisque, six fried shrimp (perfect) and a solid lobster tail that I'm sure was fantastic, but I didn't get to try it! Shrimp, fries, soup, and cole slaw was too much to eat, so I figured I would take it to go and eat it on New Year's. Brought the lobster tail back to my genius daughter's house, who said "Leave the food on the porch, it's colder outside than in the fridge." Bad idea. A racoon got the lobster tail, before I could save it. I'm sure it would have been great. Hope that monster enjoyed it! Other than that, great place, cool atmosphere, affordable prices, nice vibes, great beer list! They even had an acoustic trio going from to room playing tunes. They also had a retail seafood market sale today that ends on 12/31. Bought some great-looking crab cakes which I hope to eat on New Year's Eve. Had a GREAT time here on Valentine's Day. Wait was dreadful but we had LOTS of fun anyway! Nice Office shop distractions as well as just viewing the collections hung on the walls. We stopped because of the Dunder Mifflin gift shop. This is a very fun place to stop. They have a little bit of everything nostalgic everywhere for decor. The waitress was very friendly and we didn't expect to eat here but we tried it. Wasn't planning on seafood because we just searched Dunder Mifflin. The Crab Balls were like hush puppies but softer in the middle. The fish and chips were really good. My daughter got the penne and vodka sauce. She said it was perfect but a huge portion for my little 16yo. My wife got a Caesar salad that was also huge. I don't know if we will ever be back this way again. I recommend this place. read more

Let's get this out of the way. Cooper's is a Scranton institution! The ambience is unmatched. It is a location that locals frequent to this day, but also has enough allure that people visiting the area will make it a point to visit. I feel like years ago the food was average at best. But since then the quality of food has definitely taken an uptick, and the improvement is definitely noticeable. Not enough can be said about the amazing staff as they are welcoming and polite. I would be remiss in not mentioning the fact that Cooper's now prides itself on brewing its own brand of beer. While I applaud this effort, half of the taps in the bar are now their own brand of beer. The big ongoing discussion amongst patrons is that most of the beers are fairly indistinguishable, taste the same, and quite honestly are decent but not memorable. I truly believe if they would just lower their count to five beers and concentrate on those, the reaction would be better than what the supersaturated selection is now. Cooper's was once regarded as the premier beer place to be able to have beers that were unavailable elsewhere. Now, their previous notoriety has been cut in half due to their own proprietary mediocre beer cutting that selection in half. Another major disappointment are the TVs. I fully acknowledge the fact that Cooper's is not a sports bar. But when both bars are surrounded by TVs to watch the baseball game, the basketball game, or any sporting event, the picture quality is not even HD. In fact, some of the channels aren't even broadcast through the TVs for certain basic cable games. Again, not a sports bar, but it's nice to have something to watch on the many TVs that surround the bars. I will gladly return to this establishment time and time again, just probably not to drink their own brand of brewed alcohol. read more

This is among the first results you'll see for restaurants in Scranton. It's easy to see why. (The Office connection is cool but there's so much more to Cooper's.) From the moment you first see the restaurant from the street, you know you're in for an experience. Great decor outside and in. And the Office gift shop and other references are a nice bonus, as you'll often need to wait to be seated if you're coming here during lunchtime. It's a neat little store with cool things to look at for those Office fans. I had the Halibut. I don't normally get fish but I gave it a try and was happy. Seasoned well and nice texture. Stopped by this place for some oysters and beers and what a nice surprise , this location was where some of the office episodes were filmed . I honestly had no idea so it was the cherry on top. I ordered oysters , which were great and a beer. When visiting Scranton this is one of our favorite places to go. The atmosphere is incredible with scenes from all the shows and movies I grew up with and love depicted throughout the property. There is something for everyone in that regard. From sitting at the bar across from a cutout of Norm from Cheers to the museum and gift store from the show The Office. I brought my wife a dundee award for best wife. The food is fresh and delicious with a ton of great seafood options. I always look forward to eating here. However the best part is the staff.
