You know, it's one thing for them to attempt to rip me off every time I walk in the door, but it's a wholly different thing to charge someone for work they obviously didn't complete. I'm now having to pay another shop for 2 more brand new tires (bought 4 at Summit/Bartlett tire) because the alignment they gave me was bunk. And I'm also having to pay another mechanic for rear brakes and rotors even though Summit/Bartlett Tire changed my pads and turned my rotors last year. Also, they tried to tell me I had a coolant system leak (though I've never had to add coolant to the car.) My new, trusted mechanic did a pressure test on the cooling system and said there is no leak. These people will nickle and dime you for sub-par work. Believe all the negative reviews. read more

This is the 2nd horrific experience I've had where they are grossly overselling and misrepresenting non issues as major issues. I took a well cared for Lexus SUV in today for a diagnostic check for the buyer who wanted a shop to check out. Instead, I get lies about an oil leak, bad gasket, and upper control arms needing replacement. In total, over $3500 in unnecessary repairs. The report cost me a car sale so I took to another mechanic whose done extensive work for me on other vehicles. He put it up on lift and said there was absolutely nothing wrong with control arms...bushings were good and no slop in the arms. On the gasket, no signs of drips, burning, etc. He found a tiny 1" portion at the seam that was partially moist but not anything that isn't normal. They did this too me once before. Summit Tire is a terrible place with a dishonest owner. Two years ago, I bought 4 tires and had them mounted on wheels for my Mercury project car at home. Summit had one of their shop guys to load the newly-mounted tires onto my utility trailer. I scolded the tech after he threw the first tire in. When I got home, there was a cut on the sidewall of the tire that guy had thrown into my trailer, because it had landed on my set of ramps, cutting the tire. The tire lost all air overnight. Took the tire back to Summit and they denied everything. Cheated me out of a new $170 tire. I went to a different tire shop to buy another identical matching tire. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are CRIMINALS. I needed a new tire and alignment quickly on my newer model vehicle and they had availability so I went there over my normal place. They claimed "after thorough inspection" that I needed $4000 worth of repairs. I had 6 months before had my car looked at by my normal repairman and took their claims to him and he said it was all BS. I recently called Summit Tire to ask if they could install an aftermarket trailer hitch on my vehicle. The process is simple: remove four bolts, raise the hitch into position, and secure it back with those bolts. A straightforward task. The young man on the phone assured me it would take no more than 20 minutes and quoted me a price of $45. I even clarified if it was possible to get it done that morning, and he confirmed. Perfect, I thought. Supporting a local business, no problem. I drove 25 minutes out of my way to Summit Tire, only to be met with a rude awakening. The store manager (or owner) and shop manager suddenly declared it was a two-hour job at $119 per hour. To top it off, they were "booked up" and said I'd need to leave my vehicle there. Unbelievable. I wasted my time and gas based on what now appears to be an outright lie. Frustrated, I left. Went home, bought a $50 torque wrench, and completed the installation myself--in under 25 minutes. This kind of dishonest and dismissive behavior is exactly why supporting local businesses can be a gamble. As a customer who has purchased multiple sets of tires for several vehicles from this shop in the past, I can confidently say I will NEVER be back. I took my friend`s car to this place a few months ago to have the two rear tires replaced. I measured the tread depth myself right before leaving my home. When I told the man the front tires were good at 7/32", he gave me a funny smile and asked, "How do you know that?" I said, "I had a tread depth gauge." "OHHHH, OK. " , he replied. After some time had passed, he came in from the shop and told me I needed new wiper blades, new front struts and new rear shocks, saying there were "worn out". HA! I knew full well the only parts that were worn were the wiper blades. I declined and he closed out the work order when I paid for the two tires. I got home and bounced each corner of the car several times . There was no excessive bounce upon letting go. We drove the car to Gatlinburg and back with no ride issues whatsoever. I don`t see how this person lives with himself by doling out lies like this. I will never enter that place of business again, and I would advise to you all to follow suit... STAY AWAY!!! read more

LITERALLY NO MASKS IN SIGHT! The employees were all maskless, and they came up close and payed no attention to me stepping back. The place is dirty aside, the service is terrible and rude, they do the absolute bare minimum. We took our car in and they said they fixed it, but it was cheaply done and damaged our car further! I've taken my car to discount tire repeatedly to fix it after they badly fix it. Absolutely no spacing for social distancing, and the old man implied I was gonna hit someone with my car because I didn't want every little item he was trying to upsell. I really wish I could give them a higher rating because I enjoyed their customer service...up until checkout. I had come in for an oil change cause I had a coupon and gotten a new used vehicle. After their inspection they said I needed some new tires and hoses and said that they had a discount on tires around $380. I said sure and thought nothing of it as i figured the hoses would be about another $100 and a few misc items on top. I enjoyed my talks with Marvin at the front desk and the people seemed friendly. However at checkout they said my total was $1.1K and I thought they were joking. Turns out the parts was about $650 and labor was like $450. Idk how that compares to other places but that seemed to be a high labor few and they did not divulge that cost on the front end. I also had my airbag light on but they didn't say anything about that...no word on longevity yet as it's too soon to tell. I recommend these folk but make sure you get the full estimate on the front end! Update: I calculated their labor cost to be around $150/hr which when I googled avg for mechanics it said between $80-100 so that seemed a little excessive to me. read more

Inconsiderate and incompetent. Let's START with their blatant disregard for any COVID regulations (no masks, no hand sanitizer, no social distancing, no signage). Then, let's talk about aggressive upsell tactics, telling me I'm risking people's lives by not replacing my remembering brakes right that moment. Quite rich coming from a man who doesn't have a single employee wearing a mask! Now let's talk about their actual work. I got road hazard insurance and every time I go in, it seems to cover different things. One time it covers everything when I get a flat, other times it doesn't cover labor. Newsflash, Discount Tire fixes flats for free even if it's not their tires. So the "insurance" is nothing special. One flat I came in for, the barrel was bent and they hammered back into shape without balancing it. This caused it to wobble and I had to put on a donut myself since they were closed. This company is a rip-off. They take advantage of people. I went to get my brakes done and this was all I wanted. They kept my car for 7 hours and did $5322 worth of work on my car without my permission, The store was close when I pick up my car. And then the short ball headed manager who works the front desk and cash register (Jerry Henderson) had the nerve to say well you said you wanted to keep the car and use that as excuse for what he did. If I wanted to spend that much money I would have bought a new car. He really thought that I did not have the money and his intentions was to keep my car. He really thought that I didn't have the money. While I was waiting I was told by someone working there that people have had to call the police to come in order to get there car. If you think I am lying I will meet you and show you this bill. Please beware! My advice would be not to go there at all. I rate them a rate zero in customer service and I will never go there again. UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! I took my vehicle here a month ago to replace a tire that had a nail in the side. I only took my vehicle here because they are running the business under the name "Bartlett Tire" which is NOT who is running it now. My family and I are longtime customers of Bartlett Tire, and my dad knew the previous very well. The new place, Summit Tire and Auto Service, is getting business because of the previous owner's customer service. After telling the employee over the phone that I needed a basic tire, because I was getting ready to trade in the vehicle, she quoted me $120 for one tire that was one of the top brands. (So not the basic tire I requested) However, she said that price included everything, including if my tires needed to be rotated. So once I consulted my dad, we decided to go ahead and take it there. Once I got there, they brought my car around to the bay. After all of the technicians glanced in to see who the customer was, they began to change my tire. While talking with the employee behind the counter, he tried to sell me everything under the moon. He asked if I needed an oil change and about my windshield wipers. My dad is a mechanic and takes care of everything for me. So I politely declined, to which a comment was made stating "your dad needs to stop fixing everything on your car." Which I did not find "funny" or whatever he meant by it. So then when I went to pay for my tire, the total ended up being $160. I was shocked and honestly didn't know what could have made my bill that high. But I decided to take it home to check out the itemized receipt. Once I did, I discovered several charges for things I had NEVER seen for a tire before. Once I showed my dad, he confirmed that half of the things I was charged for were ridiculous charges. For example, "lifetime rotation" on the tire, which is uncalled for because a tire only needs to be rotated once. Needless to say, my dad called to let them know we would not be recommending anyone to come there NOR bringing any of our four vehicles back. Additionally, my mom just went in today to have a tire fixed that was purchased under the previous owner because the seal broke. She spent an hour waiting for the tire to be fixed even though she arrived at 7:10, only ten minutes after they opened. The first 40 minutes the mechanics spent looking under her hood. For those who may not know, the flat tire is typically placed in the trunk of the car and cannot possibly fit under the hood. After my mom asked, she was told they were doing a courtesy inspection. One which she did not ask for, nor had the time for, because she had to get to work. After 50 minutes, the employee running the counter decided it would be a good idea to ask "do you want them to put the actual tire on or keep the spare on?" Once my mother explained that was a dumb question, the employee proceeded to explain the mechanics asked her to ask that question. Point being, ANY mechanic that asks whether you want the fixed tire put back on instead of the donut should not be fixing a vehicle. read more

These guys will rob you blind and try to sell you a bunch of stuff you don't need. They said I needed new radiator hoses for $800 per hose when every other reputable mechanic quoted me barely $400 per hose (and btw my radiator hoses were fine, I went to an actual mechanic And they assured me my hoses were fine). They tried to sell me lug nuts at $20 each, but when I went to the dealership I got six for $20. they also told me I really desperately needed an oil change because my oil was almost black, when it had a literally been changed to months previous. Don't even bother spending your money here. They're unethical and condescending, and will up charge you an arm and a leg and your first born. read more

Today was not a good day. My car broke down and I brought it to Summit tires. I done business with them before and never had an issue before. I knew my repairs today would be expensive. I informed the manager that I had to go to work and I could come get my vehicle the next morning. The manager was very admen about the safety and liability of leaving my car there. He said this several times. He guaranteed that my car would be ready by the end of the business day. That I should call into work. I explained to him about having to get ride or going get my other car. I agree to call in because of the headache of finding ride and other things. He assured me that my car would be ready at 6:45. Around 3 he called and informed me of all the work needed to be completed. Not sure if they commission but he sold me when I asked him could certain repairs wait and he said no. Me being a woman, single and not knowing much about cars, had me on edge. I just wanted my car to run right. So I inform to fix everything. He said it would be $2500. I get to the shop at 6:45, my car NOT ready as he said. He said I'll be right with you. read more

As we all do, I hate dealing with car issues and shopping around for a new mechanic, but my mechanic search is over. The staff at Bartlett Tire is friendly and remembered me after only seeing me one other time. They have taken great care of my car so far, and they always show me what part they've repaired. I decided to write a review after reading some of the negative ones. I moved to Memphis two years ago as a graduate student. Shortly after moving to Memphis, my 2000 Xterra started needing some of the replacements that a 15+ year old vehicle often needs. A friend recommended Bartlett Tire. My first visit was for the replacement of my rear shocks. Since then, I have went back for various fixes including brakes, tires, and even some exhaust work. Every time, I have had a great experience. In fact, I have brought my friends and loved ones there whenever they have had car trouble. Each time the staff at Bartlett Tire was honest, hardworking, and reasonable. I have NEVER had to take my car back for repeat work -- they have always done it right the first time. It is always a struggle to find mechanics you can trust after a move to a new city. A lot of the time mechanics tell you what you want to hear and quote unrealistic prices just to get your business. Then, after your car leaves their shop, it ends up costing more down the road. That is not the case here. Bartlett tire is honest about the work they recommend and how much it will cost. I went here to get my power steering leak fixed. I knew all it needed was a new hose as I found the leak coming from this. When they came back to me with an estimate of $2400 and a BS statement saying I needed new gearbox parts and other parts, I just grabbed my keys and left. As I drove around for the next couple months, I noticed the leak had stopped. Apparently they tightened up some parts while doing the inspection and fixed the problem. This alone tells me they are crooks! They will always make money because they are in upper-class neighborhood and most the people will just pay the estimate without shopping around. I had some rims ordered through this place last week. This place was nice and seemed like they do a good job here. The inside looks to be pretty dated. It felt like I was in the 70's. Staff was nice but not real friendly. They did their job and not much more. A dry erase board had a bible verse on it with a bible on top of the coffee table in the waiting area. It is nice to see a company not being afraid to do that. Although I didn't have to wait the waiting area is very small with only a couple of chairs. Free coffee. The coffee maker and pot are very old adding tho the old feel of things. Nice place and I would go here again but staff didn't make an effort to be real friendly and the place is dated. I was taking my daughter to school this morning when my tire pressure warning light came on. Sure enough, I saw a giant bolt in my front passenger tire. It was a little after 9 and I had to be at work at 10:30. With major doubt any place could help me in a short time period, I headed to one tire shop in Bartlett. I was told it'd be an hour and half before they could get to me. I figured as much. I headed to the next closest place, Bartlett Tire. Katie greeted me instantly, I told her the situation and she immediately came out to my Jeep to take a look. She located the bolt as well and told me it wasn't a problem, they'd get me to work on time. WHAT?!? One of the technicians got the spare on and said he'd take a look at the tire to see what needed to be done with it, repair or replace. I drove off but the sensors were still reading way off, it was reading the spare as pretty much flat, so I went back. With zero hesitation they got on it. I got excellent service from everyone involved AND got to work on time. I will continue to do business with Bartlett Tire!! You guys rock!! Thanks so much! read more

The only reason why I'm giving this business one star is because it would not let me post otherwise...This business deserves zero stars! A family friend recommended us to this place because they stated "a great honest business" which is the complete opposite of what this business is! The president of this company is a crooked man who is out to get your money!!! I went in with my check engine light on...387 dollars later the check engine light was still on! The president Lynn Bingham stated "I fixed all my codes, my part is done" his part was replacing a valve covering (keep in mind it's a plastic cover) charged me 167$ for this plastic covering and the rest for labor! I got there to pick my car up and the engine would not even turn over... Lynn followed me out to the car to show me what all he discovered while replacing the plastic valve cover... Chewed wires and a leaking fuelet hose... He was going to charge me another 400 for all of that!! I ended up taking my car to Pashbys Automotive and they fixed my car with a decent pricing! They even printed off the mechanics pricing to show how much Lynn Bingham ripped us off!! The owner of this business does a great job going out of his way for his customers. My wife got a flat tire in my 2014 silverado, it wasn't bad, it had a leak I could hear if close enough to the tire and the hole was in the tread. I drove my truck to Serra Chevrolet but after keeping my truck for 6 hours and telling me they ultimately could not fix the tire I drove in on, I decided to bring the tire to a more trustworthy shop that didn't just see a new truck and an opportunity to sell a tire. Lynn had the tire for about an hour and called to let me know I was fixed up and ready for just $25. Wow... Just wow read more
