My kitty, Porter, was stuck at the top of an 80 foot redwood tree for the past 2 days. The guys at Bartlett Tree Experts just happened to be at a neighbors and were more than willing to help attempt a rescue! One of the crew members climbed all the way to the top with a carrier backpack on and a can of wet food in hand! Unfortunately, being so on edge, Porter JUMPED from the top of the tree, hitting a few branches on his way down and then bolted. Scott called me afterwards to check in and give me advice on potential injuries he's seen and it was so nice to see how caring he was. Porter ended up coming home shortly after and miraculously sustained no injuries- just has a bit of sap in his fur! (Cats really do have 9 lives!) I'm so grateful to this amazing crew! I'm not sure what would've happened if we waited any longer and I felt they really did care about getting him home safely. Thank you for helping bring my kitty home! He thoroughly explained how the branch sheared off our black oak and provided recommendations for its removal and reinforcement for the tree. His crew handled the complex removal with great care, safely extracting a massive branch--over 1'6" in diameter and 20' long--that had been suspended by a cable. Our 6 trees had grown quite large and were in need of some serious structural work as well as shaping. The Bartlett team was up to the task! They walked me thru their plan for each tree before they started. They were all easy to talk to, and were happy to stop and explain what they were doing and answer all my questions as the work proceeded. They were very thoughtful about their approach with each tree, working smoothly and efficiently to reshape and strengthen each one for future health and growth. Our 50' oak tree was clearly in trouble, most likely due to an irrigation leak that had delivered too much water over a lengthy period of time underneath that tree. On April 24th Estanislao and Joey from Bartlett Tree Service, Sonoma, CA office, arrived to cable 2 large oak trees near our house. Their work was perfect with the result just as I wanted. Tani made suggestions on how to improve the cabling somewhat and several times checked with me to make sure I was happy. Their professionalism and expertise was obvious in making up the cable ends and climbing and rigging the set, all done in a safe manner. Tani also suggested a time line for checking the cables and thinning the trees, which I will do. Those guys are a credit to the company. Bud Reeves, the arborist who I initially consulted with was right on time for our appointment and his professional manner was most welcome after my past dealings with so-called tree experts. I went to their website and filled out the appointment request form. No one called. I called them back 6 business days later and spoke with someone and they scheduled an appointment for 3:00 pm the next day because someone was in the area already and since we were only asking for a tree to be evaluated it would only take few minutes. No one showed up. Called back and they said we don't make appointments after 3:00 pm. read more

They did a great job a couple of years ago when we needed help removing a dead tree from the back yard. We tried to get them back for pruning of a few trees and could not get a reply to multiple emails. We're moving on to another tree service at this point. Frustrating. read more

Scott Carothers was the Arborist that I dealt with, and he was quite thorough with how the trees needed to be trimmed, although I was a bit lost on the professional wording he used. Ramon (the job foreman) cleared that up when he came to do the job. Wow. What a change from the company I had do work on the same tree 2.5 years earlier. Bartlett was thorough, happy to clean up, asked me if there was anything more I wanted cut and more. The guys really took pride in doing a good job, and going that extra mile. I've been working with Bud Reeves for many years, he always comes out to go over what I need or would like done. He gives helpful advice to make it easier to decide. Sometimes he comes to go over the job with the workers or the workers are very experienced and get right to work. Have always been very happy with the work. After much research, I interviewed Bartlett Tree Service to trim and prune several large oak trees on my property in Kenwood. Scott Carothers was the Arborist and point person with Ramon (foreman),Anthony (climber) and Kenny (ground man) doing the work. Prior to Bartlett, I interviewed several other companies, large and small, due to the cost of the job. To put is simply, the team I dealt with at Bartlett was professional, totally focused on customer satisfaction and knew what they were doing. After our first meeting, Scott emailed a copy of their insurance coverage. This is absolutely essential if you are going to have men climbing in trees on your property unless you enjoy litigation in the case of an accidental fall. I can strongly recommend this company. Excellent. I was expecting them to tell me this tree had disease and has to go, and that tree is dangerously hanging over your house and has to be trimmed. Neither happened. He gave me some long term advice about how to maintain the trees, but didn't push any services and was very honest and thoughtful about his advice and the corresponding possible costs. I had continual problems contacting the company and getting them to respond. When they finally did give me an estimate and have workers come out, it was a slap-dash effort which left a mess. I had a citrus tree pruned and they left all the lemons on the ground saying they couldn't put them in the chipper because it would made "lemonade." Well, what about scooping them into the green waste containers? Oh, no, no time for that. So, I have hired someone else to clean up after Bartlett. I will not be using them again since they are somewhat expensive and don't clean up. read more

I later called and spoke with the receptionist and told her that I needed to clarify some things. She said she would tell Scott and have him call. No call.
