You look around the place, and you see a nice dining room, with lots of attention to detail in the lighting and walls. Very attractive! I ordered their steak skewers, and my wife ordered the sweet pea pesto flatbread. We ordered this in conjunction with a wine tasting. Service was very good. The wines were quite good, with an explanation of each provided by our server. This allowed you to get into the wine as much as the food. The food was excellent - just tasty as all get out. A winery with food! Like actual substantial food and not just wine snacks or charcuterie. We came here for lunch from another winery. I was already feeling buzz when coming here so I didn't do the wine tasting, my husband did and I took sips here and there. The food we got were the pork belly, sausage, and a margarita pizza/flatbread. The pork belly was really good. So crunchy and crispy. The fat was nicely crispy, so didn't feel like you ate only fat. The sausage was good too, came with potatoes. The flatbread was flatbread, needed some pepperoni or something but wasn't bad. My husband liked the wine tasting at Barton. The server was a little clueless and slow though. But overall, we bought 2 bottles and will try it at home. The patio seating was big and they had a distillery onsite too. Had a great time at this spot. Other times going to winery/distilleries I haven't been impressed. It's like of you're trying to make both, you're not going to be food at either. But I am happy to report they do both wine and spirits well here. The wife and I split soup and charcuterie. We liked many of the wines we tried and most of the spirits. My husband and I truly enjoyed our time here. I love that you have so many options: wine, hard alcohol, and food. The staff was kind and eager to help. They were friendly and willing to deal with our three young children. The outdoor ceiling space was amazing, I loved that they had glass windows, so we weren't affected by the wind. Always a nice experience each visit at this winery. We always tend to get a bottle versus the tasting and a meal to go with it. The property is beautiful, there's plenty of outdoor seating that all overlooks the vineyards. As well as some games along the sides of your looking for a little fun during. This visit, we had a little lunch date with some friends so food was for sure on the itinerary. The flatbread of the day was great, olives, the pork belly and sausages. Flatbread was amazing as well as the pork belly with the glaze and perfect bite size. The sausage was different from the last visit. This time it was served with potatoes and shishito peppers versus last visit which was just sausage and dipping. Prefer just the sausages and dipping instead. Some friends recommended Barton so we stopped in without reservations on a Saturday & had a great little couch on their patio. The place is beautiful! Bridgette was our server, she was so nice & very knowledgeable about all their amazing wines. We had a charcuterie board that was amazing, the bread was so soft & tasty and paired well with the cheeses, meats & pickled veggies. Beautiful fall afternoon to try a new winery and lunch . Barton is a hidden gem on the west side of 46. Amazing lunch menu it was hard to choose one entree we started with corn chowder that was very filing and tried the bacon and gruyere cheese flatbread. The wine tasting paired well with the food especially the white wine and grenache all were very good and we liked the unusual wine named after their favorite musical groups. This is a great combo of grub & wine, if you're looking for that. (Who am I kidding, Yelpers!). Lovely to sit on the patio. Dog friendly. A good selection of wines by the glass as well as the wine tasting option. My party of 4 came for a glass of wine and lunch, and that's exactly what we had. Deliciousness. A seasonal menu, I got the sausage & potato dish (potatoes, onions), served with an incredible lemon cream sauce on the side for dipping. So good. The wine, a rose, was very very good. Wow! The food was top notch and the prices were reasonable. I got a delicious salmon plate with farro and roasted vegetables that was hearty, healthy and delicious! My husband got the Mac and cheese that was elevated with some sausage and dried tomatoes. We decided to do a tasting to share with our meals. My review is for the distillery, Grain + Vine. My previous trips to Paso had me pass by the location and since I'm not that much of a wine guy I was eager to try another liquid intoxicant. I finally got my chance and walked past the winery tasting room to the smaller counter/rickhouse. The location is on the north side of the grounds and while the seating area is a lot smaller it made it smaller but also quieter; we were the only people in this section for a while. I really only like the brown spectrum on the spirits side so I wasn't really interested in a flight. Their cocktail prices though were on the cheaper side, which I expect since they make their own spirits and I got an Old Fashioned. They make it with their rye which made it a little on the spicy side. I usually get bourbon but the spiciness while noticeable was subtle. I liked it so much that I ended up buying a bottle to bring back. The only drawback is that it's a little hard to get to. I get that it's primarily a winery but the distillery felt like it was the red-headed stepchild. I really think they should feature it a little more. read more

The manager was SO RUDE!! The nice young lady was trying to get us a spot, not sure what the issue was, there were at least 8 tables available, but to them they were "so busy". Mismanagment is all I can chalk it up to. The 4 young individuals inside were just chatting with each other when we walked in. We wanted to taste wine with our friends visiting from out of the area, and we also wanted to have lunch. So I searched Paso Robles wineries that have food and stumbled upon this place. It was extremely easy to make a reservation online and pretty sweet to have it all set up for us as we were on a time schedule with other things to do that day. We arrived, and we were greeted at the door. It is unassuming in the front, and I was a little worried when we arrived that we would be sitting in the metal chairs on the small deck next to the highway. But she took us back to the barrel room, which was really cool. We sat down and had a great waitress who took good care of us. The wines were delicious! We loved the themed wine names after songs we all knew. Our favorites were hot-blooded and watchtower. Those were our favorites but all of them were really good. We ordered the charcuterie board and the sausage taster plate. Both offered delicious flavors and sauces that I would like to learn to make myself! So good! An hour and a half was plenty of time to get a tasting, have some lunch and we were ready to go. We visited in the winter and so outdoor seating was not happening. But I imagine this place to be very busy with great outdoor seating and fun games to play while you enjoy the wine and food and beautiful location. read more

Great place for brunch and the views are gorgeous! Perfect place for a girls brunch or a date! The only complaint was our server. He was not attentive and getting his attention took awhile. Me and my boyfriend came here to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely- The service was fantastic (it was cold after the rain, Joe offered us additional heaters and blankets!) And we felt very accommodated for. We enjoyed the corn chowder, bacon fig grilled cheese, and the pork belly. All 3 were so good! So disappointing. We tried both the wine and the spirits - both were mediocre. The servers were very young - I wondered if many of them were even 21+. They couldn't answer most of our basic questions about the liquor and rolled their eyes when another customer walked in. At the second pour I wished we could leave, but was so disappointed to spend an hour and $75 when we could have been at one of the many wineries in the area that paid attention to their customers. If you're ever in Paso Robles, you must go to Grey Wolf. This is a wonderfully cozy, and beautiful winery. They have incredible food and wine pairings. When I went, they had a wine pairing with cupcakes. You'll likely hear a local artist performing too! The owner came up and talked to us, and we learned all about his wine journey and his newest venture into creating Grain and Vine distillery for whiskey and bourbon. Did I mention they have incredible wines? My favorite includes their white wine called Holiday, and their red wine Lady in Red. You're in for a real treat visiting this winery! Beautiful boutique winery which also has a distillery tasting room in the back as well as some wonderful food options! We couldn't make any reservations as we weren't sure what time we will make it to town while driving down the Big Sur so we took a chance at a larger winery down the road who pointed us kindly here as they did not have anything available at 3pm. We got in, checked the place out. It was quiet and some guests were just leaving. We came in, not knowing which was the entrance, sat at the bar and chatted with a few people and the rest was history. I did the tasting, my husband doesn't like wine. Every single one of the wines I've tasted appealed to my palate. I'm normally not into Chardonnay but they've convinced me after having theirs. My most favorite was the bonus with which I chose a Cabernet Sauvignon. Grey Wolf truly is amazing and the space was so beautiful. I saw some people with dogs outside and that made me smile even more. For our light and late lunch, we ordered some of their puff pastry, which was so flavorful and flakey, and a cheese and charcuterie board. Everything was delicious. I wish we could have hung out longer but we wanted to get going and check in at our hotel and the place closes at 5 or so Google had said so we wanted to be respectful and leave before 5. We just opened up a 2019 Grey Wolf Lineage (Bordeaux style blend) that we picked up several years ago after we escaped from the faux castle next door. It paired exceptionally well with a grilled 2" ribeye steak. It's a lovely wine. I recommend you try it. read more

A pretty little place to visit. I visited around Valentine's Day. I had seen that they were offering a paired entrée charcuterie board. I've heard great things about their food, so I decided to take a friend and enjoy this board. We also had wine tasting and cupcake pairing which was amazing. The wines poured were nice, my favorite of the day was one called Fancy. All the wines were nice on the palette and paired well with our board. The board had brussels sprouts, pork medallions, duck, a salad, and peach dessert. The food did not disappoint. Our sever Danny was upbeat and personable. There was a nice flow of people coming and going - clearly people know about this place and it's reputation. Our experience was outstanding! Caitlin took care of all our needs. She had an adorable area set up for our small gathering. A large container of water and cups were provided, as well as wine glasses ready for tasting. If you're not a dog lover, don't come here. This is dog haven where we didn't feel ashamed for having a dog, because the owners had their dogs coming around and playing with our dog and other dogs at the patio. I initially booked this place for a nice lunch with good wine, and it turned into a great lunch with great wine! We did the tasting and ended up taking 2 bottles home. Because it was Black Friday, we even got 10% off of our bottles and free glasses. So we initially came here for the food. But I was impressed with the patio. What a perfect place for an event! The big wooden door was really beautiful, and we sat by there and for some reason I really enjoyed the esthetics of it. There is a nice deck around the building, and you can just stand there to enjoy the view of the vineyards. There's a brewery restaurant also next door which is related to the Grey Wolf restaurant. We ordered burrata salad which was super yummy. The flat bread with the proscuitto (and maybe other meats?) was so good that I was tempted to order more if we didn't have another wine tasting to run to. The mac and cheese for kids was so yummy as well. It was made for adult taste, I think, but my kids are used to having some bacon in their mac and cheese (my kids aren't the Kraft kind of kids... they're used to seeing other ingredients in their mac and cheese - we cook gluten-free at home). The wine flight was really nice! I wasn't planning to do the wine tasting since we officially have one after this, but our server was so sweet to bring me a glass to have a taste. I am so glad I did! This white wine lover fell in love with the cunoise. It was so light and unique that we had to take a bottle. We also love the owners' dogs, because they were all so sweet. It felt like they were welcoming our dog into their home, and our dog was so excited to see and interact with them. The pomeranian puppy was so cute! She was begging for my bread crust, but I didn't mind because she looked like a teddy bear. I really want to come back as I write this. Please, keep your place dog friendly because our wine tasting venue we visited after was not a dog friendly place which made us miss your place more.
