Over the past 25 years of owning pets and working with multiple veterinary offices, this was easily the worst level of customer service I've encountered, and it's not even close. The issue stemmed from a simple and reasonable request. I had an unused prepaid service from the prior year for my pets' physicals. The service was never used and therefore cost the practice nothing. I requested that it simply be applied as a credit toward the same service this year and even offered to pay any difference in pricing. I also provided a legitimate and provable explanation as to why the service was not used at the time. Instead of being accommodating or even attempting to work toward a reasonable solution, the office was rigid, ununderstanding, and ultimately unpleasant in their responses. There was no effort to consider the situation beyond a strict, one-dimensional policy approach, showing an inability to apply basic judgment or common sense. After raising the issue, I received a phone call from a member of the receptionist team whose tone was condescending and dismissive. I was told they were not willing to work with me and that their position would not change. Shortly after that call, I received a brief follow-up email stating that my account had been inactivated, my pets' upcoming appointments had been canceled, and that I would need to find a new veterinarian. This was done without my request or agreement. Communication overall was abrupt and unprofessional, with no accountability or willingness to resolve the issue. The experience left a clear impression of a facility that prioritizes money over customer service, reasonable accommodation, and good business practice. The owner, whom I requested call me, would not. Again, pointing at poor service. To be fair, the office itself is very nice, the location is convenient, and parking is adequate. Scheduling appointments has always been easy, and their email and text reminders are helpful, so in that part of the business, they are doing something right. However, none of that makes up for poor communication, inflexibility, and a lack of professionalism. The inability to think beyond a rigid, one-dimensional approach also gives me pause when dealing with medical professionals who are often called upon to think more broadly and problem-solve complex issues that can be challenging to diagnose. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere if you value responsive, thoughtful, and client-focused service. read more

We have an older cat that needed dental work. She did not want to eat. When they gave her a check-up they said it was critical. We entrusted them for her care. While she was in some pain, they gave her pain medicine. She is so much happier now. Tooth cleaning is not cheap but I highly recomnend Bartonville Vets to get a check up for your pet. We will see them again soon for our other pet. read more

I've never had a warm and fuzzy experience here and I've been 3 times. They never can find my dog in their system. The staff seems frustrated and stressed? I just called up there to see if I could get my pup in (semi emergency) and they said not until tomorrow. Seems they could at least attempt, but that part is ok we're not any more important than the next pup. We got in up the road. I will not go back to this vet. read more

I've been to a few vets nearby and Bartonville Veterinary Center is the best of them all. Plus, my dog had major surgery there earlier this year and Dr. Cordero did a wonderful job. read more

I've been using them for 7 years. Dr Cordero is wonderful! She diagnosed a rare autoimmune reaction that our dog was having and a torn ACL. They have always been able to squeeze in our sick dog for day-of appointments. I have received great, consistent care from them for years and I would highly recommend. They are a little on the expensive side, but not the highest prices I've seen around this area. read more

Very displeased with Dr Cordero. They charge an astronomical amount and then make themselves unavailable for their customers after surgeries. I paid $1600 for a neuter because the doctor did jot properly close the wound on a very active dog. Ending up at the er to have staples due to an open, infected, wound was very traumatic for all of us. We followed her instructions for post surgery to a t. They are ill equipped to handle energetic puppies, and even cast blame on me for not sedating my dog prior to the appointment for staple removal ( though there were no sedatives left and nothing had been spoken of this prior to surgery). I paid $360 for a simple ear infection, in which checkups were done at time of surgery and staple removal. I would not recommend Bartonville vet to anyone. However, all their staff is top notch. Love the girls who worked with my dog and the receptionist. Really great people. read more

They are already on the more expensive end of veterinary care which is okay if you receive consistent quality service, but you don't. Plus they really put the screws to you trying to upsell everything. Go in for basic shots and they will try to sell or guilt you into tests and services that you don't need. They also quit boarding animals. Had to find a new clinic. read more

We have 3 Yorkies that have been patients of Bartonville Vet for over 2 years. All three had teeth removed a year and a half ago costing close to $3,500! Last month we took them all in for a yearly check up and they did blood tests on all of them without even discussing the cost $$$ and then getting to the check out to find out our bill was $979.00. Now another estimate for $900.00 to $1,400 has been given to us for just one of our yorkies for more teeth problems. We asked if there was any costs on the estimate that could be reduced and the answer was "the costs are the costs". We then went to Argyle vet for a second opinion and got a estimate of $600 to $900 for the dental work. Needless to say we are NOT going to Bartonville Vet again. We feel they are more about the money than the welfare of our pets. read more

We spent over $2500.00, with Bartonville Vet Clinic over the past 6 weeks with our older Pyrenees. Last Thursday we took her in with her internal system stressed and possible failure. She stay at the clinic that day receiving IV Fluids, while they ran test and tried to stabilize her system. We picked her up that evening and made the decision to bring her home vs taking her to another ER Clinic for an overnight stay. Friday she seemed to improve so we made the decision to have the catheter remove and she how she responded over the weekend prior to making a decision. We took her back to BVC on Friday to have the catheter removed, we asked to speak with the vet for a couple of questions and were advised that she was in an appt and had another right after. They would leave her a message but it would probably be Monday before she could get back with us because they closed at 6. I get it that they were busy and if this was just a routine issue I could understand a call back in a couple of days. However, being just 24 hours from our dog being in critical condition, I would have expected a better from a clinic that claims to care about animals. read more

Absolutely terrible. Anti veteran and anti service dog and after finding out rescue dog had a human contagious virus they told me no treatment was needed for the dog or to protect our three children at home. Then two weeks later they send a letter starring they will no longer provide treatment for our dogs. . I had posted a 4 star review of the poor service but now downgrading it to 1 star as there is nothing lower. We have used this vet for 11 yrs and the first time we complain about the new management and their service they cancel treatment. They were great helping with our initial diagnosis of a rescue dog we brought home But then we found out he had worms or parasites and those spread to our other dogs. I have taken in 4 stool samples but they said they didn't need to run them but have only issued medications for 1 dog, while my other 3 remain sick because they will not return a call - I have showed up to the building 2 with no luck in seeing a vet and called three times with no return calls. I'm moving to another veterinarian who cares enough to call back when they say they will call back. Especially since in the past seven days I've almost paid them $1000 in bloodwork and stool temple tests and medications for the one dog. Poor service. IWe will be sending in the lab results to the American Veterinary Medical Association for a review of the ethics and practices here. read more

The staff is very polite and caring. We thought our elderly cat had exhausted her nine lives, but the staff at Bartonville Vet Center provided the necessary treatment to save her. After a few visits, our cat is almost as good as new! We know she won't last forever, but she now has lots of energy and the health needed for an extended and comfortable remaining life. This is my most recent experience at Bartonville Vet. It is why I will never go back and why I strongly recommend you take your pets elsewhere. My cat was not doing well, lost weight, behavior changes, etc. So, I took her into Bartonville Vet. They attempted to examine her, but she absolutely hates that place and starts hissing and trying to get away. They say we want to do a blood draw and urinalysis and they need to put her under anesthesia. I am a scared cat mom and just want her to get better, so I say yes. They do the procedure and I have to wait a couple days for results. Meanwhile, I take my cat home and it was like she had a lobotomy, she was a zombie cat. Her pupils weren't responsive and for the next 3 days she could barely use her back legs and her balance was completely messed up. I was so scared and sad, I thought I permanently messed up my cat by taking her to Bartonville, it was heartbreaking. The effects of the anesthesia finally start to ware off and she can walk on her own after about 5-6 days. Meanwhile, Bartonville calls and says all test results are negative, we want to run more tests on the blood we have...I say fine, I just want her better. Then, I decide to take her to a different vet, just in case. That vet was able to examine her (they said she was super sweet too) and found that both her ears were infected and she had some potential gum/tooth disease and needs to see a dental specialist. Bartonville completely missed her ear infections and teeth issues - I was shocked. Did they not do a basic exam? Instead, they immediately jump to needing to run tests and putting her under anesthesia.... The other vet prescribed medicine for her ears and I took her to the dental specialist who had to put her under anesthesia to extract teeth. I told them I'm so nervous about putting her under because she was a literal zombie cat and couldn't walk last time; they said the drugs they use do not cause such side effects. She had the procedure and was her normal self by that night, I was so relieved. Bartonville Vet, I do not know if your staff is just unskilled and lacks basic knowledge about pet medicine, or simply lazy, but you completely missed what was wrong with her, put her through so much trauma, and made me pay hundreds for unnecessary tests. You should be ashamed for how you treated this cat - you did anything but help her. Her balance is still not what it once was and I have zero doubt it is because of what you put her through at Bartonville Vet. I strongly recommend going somewhere else before going to Bartonville Vet. read more

New to the area and needed a vet. We needed to get my Great Danes their annual dental cleaning and nail clippings. Since we were new patients we were required to have an office visit before scheduling. We didn't have our records from prior vet. But I did give them their annual injections (tractor supply) a feed days early. We get there and get a great welcome at the front. But all the good stuff ended there. The vet tech seemed like a sales guy and kept trying to sell us additional items. Before we even saw the vet we were told we had to do additional injections and blood tests on top of our visit. Again before seeing the vet we are told our $67 visit per dog will be almost $200 each. I was a bit put off as he kept up selling me stuff. Then he went to get us a quote for dental and nails (our old vet charged $150 per dog each year to do thins and this included a once over check). The tech came back and said they could do it in September and the dental cleaning was $750 per dog plus additional blood work day of treatment. That is on top of what they wanted that day. Needless to say we stopped the visit and left. I called our old vet 20 miles away in the car driving home and scheduled the same procedure for two weeks from now at a cost of $225 each dog. I came with a friend to have them look at a dog who was only using three legs after being stepped on. The dog got an X-ray and everyone was quite nice. This was a Friday afternoon. We were told a radiologist needed to review for a recommendation and bought pain medication. We didn't hear back for 8 days. Really 8 days! Unacceptable, won't be back and won't recommend. read more

If you want to go to a vet with a "bait and switch" approach this place is for you! We were given a rough estimate of our dogs teeth cleaning and cycst removal with two different prices. We were given an estimate of $766 as the low price and around $850 for the high price. We knew it could always be more but were shocked when the total price was close to $1,700!!! When we confronted the Dr about this she said that she knows the price can be different then what they quote but people "would not be happy if I gave them a price between $700- $4,000 which is what what your total could have been!" She acted like we were fortunate it wasn't $4,000 however I would have never imagined that it would have been close to this considering the high/low estimate we were given. I explained to her that actually customers would appreciate the TRUTH not the bait and switch approach that they are using. They want you in the door and your animal under anesthesia, then of course no loving pet owner is going to say no to getting the teeth pulled that must be taken out or any other issues the office may call and get approval for. Yes we approved the expenses, it's not about the cost it's about the approach that was used that is very unprofessional. Be warned!!! Take your pets elsewhere. We won't be back! read more

I love everyone at Bartonville Veterinary Center. I have three pugs and therefore know them all on a first name basis. They are like close friends. First and foremost, I feel as though I am getting top-notch, science based, and best practices care. Dr. McClain and his staff are compassionate and caring. They go above and beyond to make me feel comfortable, but more importantly to make my dogs feel comfortable, while in their care. A big plus is the consistency and stability of supporting staff. A good sign for me that he treats his staff well. I drive past six or seven closer Veterinarians, because I feel Bartonville's service and value are worth it. They are so responsive to any concerns. They are also sensitive to the high costs of quality veterinary care. Whenever they can, they give me a multiple dog discount, and I truly appreciate that. I have one pug that had a somewhat rare condition that Dr. McClain diagnosed. Dr. McClain has expert specialty surgeons as consultants to give the best care. Everything went perfectly. I have also boarded by pugs several times with them and always leave them knowing they will be safe and well cared for. read more

I have been with Bartonville Vet for 3 years. With 2 dogs, I am a 'regular' with needs from regular dog care (yearly shots, flea and tick products) to venomous snake shots to one dog who tested positive for heartworms. Through all of this, Dr. C and her staff are consistently caring, informative and helpful. This place was great with Dr. McClain. We rescue special needs dogs and have taken them all here for years. Now he has retired. He helped us treat one of our dogs who had cancer. We held out, but one day we woke up and our dog was writhing in pain. It was time. We called the clinic two ours ahead of time to tell them we needed to bring him in for the last shot. The new vet left us sitting on the floor for thirty minutes while he was dying and in pain! Thirty minutes! We picked up our records shortly after that and haven't looked back. read more
