After several Instagram reviews about the restaurant, I decided to give this restaurant a try. Came here for a quick dinner with the family. We were seated quickly but our server. The restaurant is not too big and has a little bar and TVs. We tried to order a mix of dishes to sample. We started off as their goat cheese naan. The dish was really good but the cheese was not distributed evenly around the pieces. We also ordered their Tandoori Chicken. This was really liked and I would come for it again. The dish we ordered was their lamb curry and it was ok, and came with a portion of white basmati rice. Don't forget to order their mango lassi, we really liked that too. They offer everything from mild and vegetarian up to properly spicy vindaloo packed with tender meat. My personal favorites are the chicken tikka masala, lamb rogan josh, and chicken vindaloo. We've been on the hunt for some good Indian food around us and ya'll, this is a hidden gem! Truly some of the best Indian food we've had. The Lamb Vindaloo was so tender and flavorful. Their Tikka Masala - creamy butter tomato sauce with just the right amount of richness - amazing. And their tandoori chicken was super juicy, marinated in a perfect blend of yogurt, herbs and spices. Wow, our minds were blown. And we also tried some of their appetizers which also DELIVERED. We tried their Basanti veggie sampler, with 4 different delicious options - our favorite was the onion bhajia, SO GOOD. And lastly their Himalayan momos. Can't believe we had forgotten about this place for about a year. Last time we ate at the restaurant was a few days before I went into labor. For a birthday dinner I picked Basanti, which we had been wanting to try for quite a while. We've eaten at dozens of Indian restaurants from San Diego to the Bay area, so I'm always happy to try a new one. The five of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, which included vegetable and himalayan momos, aloo gobhi, chicken korma, butter chicken, goat vindaloo, garlic and chili garlic naan, raita, and mango chutney. Every dish was delicious and the portions were generous as well (the chutney and raita were much bigger sides then one usually gets). Gobi was very attentive and even offered us a complimentary birthday dessert of nicely spiced rice pudding. Very good northern Indian food, good service also. This place is very small, only tables & chairs; I think max capacity is under 40 people. It's charming but not much atmosphere. Finally tried the local Indian place. Only to go orders, no indoor dining currently. The prices seem a little on the higher end but they do give pretty good sized portions. The chicken tikka masala was good. Really liked the samosas. The garlic naan and chili naan was excellent. I liked the chili naan slightly better. I've been coming to this place off and on since they first opened over five years ago, and it never disappoints. The decor is tastefully simple and elegant. There's normally a lot of seating availability at lunch, but dinners are busier. We ordered the fried Papadum as a starter. The Tandoori Chicken is our favorite go-to together with the Dal Makhani and basmati rice. Everything was delicious. I haven't posted any comments about Basanti in some time, yet I continue to support Roshan and his team by taking out food at least once a month, sometimes more when my son or daughter come into town. So, decided tonight to post some props for them. I grabbed some to-go food tonight. Couple orders of Chicken Tikka Masala, one Spicy and one Mild. Both had a terrific base of tomato, with just enough cream for color. No traces of oil or excess fat, just great depth of flavor. Also the Chicken Biryani to add some additional flavor and spice for the gravys inside the Tikka Masala. And the Yellow Dal, which is also flavorful and delicious. I wasn't sure that Basanti would make it through the pandemic, as Indian is not like some of the other local options (inexpensive Mexican, or some of the fine but less interesting to me places around the train station). Yeah, it's all about preference and mine is deep flavor, and what has been very consistently good at Basanti. They have survived the pandemic and keep churning out food with good portions and great flavor. The takeout here is insanely good. I personally am not a fan of tikka masala, but this one blew me away. The chicken was so tender in both the tikka masala & coconut chicken. Both dishes also had a TON of flavor & were very creamy. The garlic naan was also good but it could use a tad bit of more garlic. I definitely recommend ordering here!! read more

BLAND! Every dish was extremely bland! 4/5 dishes were weak and terribly under seasoned. The only dish that had good flavor was the well seasoned potato filling in the samosas. Should've bought my car here because this place was absolutely GAS Came here with my boyfriend and we were greeted immediately and seated. Cucumber water was a 10/10, it was goodddd. I couldn't decide between Chicken Biryani or another chicken dish, and I asked the server which one he recommended and told me the Biryani was amazing--he was right. My boyfriend got the chicken curry medium, and it was the PERFECT amount of spice. Truly a wonderful place, it was decorated with the culture all around the store, which was beautiful to look at and in the back they put music videos up and they were mesmerizing. Overall the bill was roughly $40 for the Garlic Naan, Chicken Biryani, and Chicken Curry. 10/10 would come again, thank you so much for a wonderful experience!!! read more
