This is my go-to spot for a solid lunch special ($11.99 in 2024? Amazing). So many yummy options to choose from and the food is always piping hot and fresh. If there's one reason I'm sad that I don't have to go into the office more often, it's because I don't get to eat at this place. Their lunch special is amazing for what it is. A two item combo with two large pieces of naan is fantastic and honestly, their flavors are really good. I tend to go with chicken curry and mixed vegetable khorma, because I love me a good khorma, but their chicken tikka and saag paneer are fantastic as well. The flavors here are on point, especially at lunch special prices, and they have legitimately good naan. No joke. It's soft, fluffy, delicious, with just a bit of crisp. I can't stress this enough, you getting legitimately good restaurant level food, for take-out prices during lunch. What disappointment. They raised their prices by about 250% over 2 years. They increased their prices AND reduced their portion sizes by 50 percent!!!! Chicken tikki masala - buttery, fatty, amazing and classic, the chicken isn't super tender though. Saag paneer - love that mushy texture, always wishing there was more cheese hehe Chicken curry - now THIS has some tender chicken, and amazing flavor. Coconut milk? I finally tried this place that has been on my list for years. It's really close to my house too. Parking can get a little crazy around lunchtime since it's in a food court area. They had a lunch special for around $12 that included two entrées, rice, and naan. I got the saag paneer and chicken tikka masala. My mom got the chicken tikka masala and veggie korma. I didn't care for the saag paneer much, but I loved the chicken, thick masala and the veggie korma. The service was great. It's cute on the inside. Our order was briefly $80, and 7.75% of Tax + 18% of Tips (from the total, not from the subtotal) + 2.7% of Credit Card Surcharge (they charge the surcharge after the Tax and Tip!! AND you do not see 2.7% surcharge will be added while you are paying through Toast device!! and the receipt finally shows it!!). The GRAND total we were charged was about $105. My husband and I had dinner at the India Grill earlier this past week. We had been there a few times before and this place never disappoints on any level. In fact, during dinner we looked at each other, and said this is "definitely going to be our 'go-to'" for Eastern Indian cuisine. It was FABULOUS. We had aloo gobi, lamb saag, rogan josh with lamb, and chicken tikka masala, and a couple sides of white rice and plain naan bread. Needless to say, it was quite a feast for two with plenty of leftovers and another superb dinner the next evening! The pricing is very reasonable. The buffet choices are the typical Indian buffet, which was awesome. A bit smaller than the the one I go to in Irvine, but they have the popular dishes like the butter chicken, tandoori chicken and lamb shanks. They have the best garlic naan I've ever had and maybe the best samosas too! I told my BF about this place; we might do the drive just so he can try it. 4 stars out of 5 because my water glass was dirty. I also asked for lemon water and the waiter said there's lemon in the salad bar, but when I went to grab some, there was only one little wedge. India grill used to be our go to for takeout dinners but they have raised the price insanely high for "what they serve". We haven't dined in the restaurant since the pandemic began so I don't know if the way/amount they serve food at the restaurant is different than takeouts. We always get the same items; butter chicken is a big bowl of sauce and just a few strips of chicken. Saag paneer quite watered down and just a few pieces of paneer. We are spending $70 on every takeout (used to be $50 for this exact items last year) to get very little food now. If the quality and quantity was like the past I would say it's probably ok to treat ourselves to a delicious Indian dinner but it really doesn't make sense when it's just sauces now. Given how much we liked as our neighborhood Indian restaurant and wanted to support them it bums me out to lower my rating but this is after multiple tries and getting disappointed with our takeouts. read more

After coming back from San Francisco and enjoying Indian food there, we sought out to find an Indian restaurant near our house in South OC. We found India Grill in Aliso Viejo and loved it! The selection on the menu is vast with many vegetarian options, which is great because I tend to not eat meat. the interior is simple and not too fancy, which we appreciate so that we can come as we are! My spouse ordered the coconut curry chicken and I had an eggplant vegetarian dish. We also ordered Shrimp Biryani rice, Garlic Naan bread and Papadum (a thin cracker-like treat with sauces). All were delicious and we have some to take home to enjoy tomorrow. We will definitely come back to try the many other delicious looking items on the menu. Tip: We recommend the mild versions!
