They removed my 7" wood basement door installed a 5"foot door leaving a 1 foot hole on either side of the door in my house my wall my siding and said it was not their responsibility when you order a custom door it's supposed to take the old door out and put a new door in in the same hole you don't put Volkswagen parts on a truck I am very dissatisfied I refuse to pay them I would never recommend them to anybody else read more

I hired Basements Love Us to waterproof our basement. The estimator was nice and gave us a great deal if we signed with him on the day of the estimate. I was told it would be waterproofed, but under the stairs they were going to install a grate to catch the water and stop it from going into the area of the basement which would be finished. The job was done on a Friday. I signed what I thought was a receipt when the job was finished. I went down the basement on the following Monday and I had water coming in one corner and still under the stairs but it was going into the grate. I contacted Shannon and was told that I signed off on the job(even if that were the case, I signed assuming the basement was waterproofed which it was not) Shannon asked me to send her pictures and after going back and forth she said she would send someone out "as a courtesy" I was immediately thrown off by the use of that word, as I feel it was not a favor to me, it was to complete the service which was not done properly in the first place. 3 corners were waterproofed one way and the 4th corner was not finished as shown in the pictures below. They came out and finished the corner that was not finished during the initial install. The installer told me that I was right and it should have been completed that way originally. A couple weeks later I went downstairs with the contractor to talk about finishing the basement and noticed that the water is going past the grate, which we were told would not happen. The estimator said that we could put a door in front of the grate and we wouldn't see the grate or the water that was going into the grate. I just contacted Shannon again and was told that the stairs leading to the Bilco doors need to be replaced and to let her know if we would like a price for that. We were misled by the company. Had I known the basement would still be getting wet beyond the grate I would have used the money to do something else to my home since I am not able to finish the basement with what basements love us has done. I told Shannon I would be writing a review and she said it was defamation of character and they will contact their lawyer if need be. I am simply stating facts about the services I have received, so that no one else has to deal with what we are. Update. 7/25/2021. I mean... our basement now has a water drainage system in it. Overall, I am not satisfied with this company. We chose them because we had a coupon and they were quick to reply. Unfortunately, the job was done poorly & they left our house a mess. The cement that was used to refill the trench was poured unevenly & now our washer and dryer do not sit flat. The grate that was put in for the exterior doorway is not parallel wit the door & will make flooring the basement difficult (most companies put these grates outside of the exterior door at the base of the stairs). Even though our sale representative said they would create a neutral air flow and stop the dust from traveling through our home, our house was covered in dust after day 2 and 3. They told us they would be able to move anything that we were not able to. However, they ripped our dryer vent hose and refused to replace it when we called to complain. They cut a hole at the bottom of an interior door frame which was completely unnecessary seeing as the waterproofing system is installed around the exterior perimeter of the basement (thankfully, the hole that was cut is not big enough to allow our cat access to the closet). They left garbage and personal items such as a half full soda can & a jacket with gloves and headphones laying around (our basement was empty seeing as we had not yet moved into the house & it was not hard to find/collect items that were left behind). The real reason we called Basements Love Us was to fill a pipe hole that was leaking water as the snow melted. The hole was approximately 4 inches in diameter. Once the job was complete, we had to call the company to come BACK OUT to fill the hole since it was not filled while they were putting in the drainage system as requested. While talking to Kurt, we were told we would still have to put plastic coverings on the cement walls before putting up sheetrock to alleviate any water damage-I'm not sure how this qualifies as "waterproof". It really sucks because we were looking forward to having our basement fully waterproofed (as advertised) & I feel like so many corners were cut. I am really disappointed in the lack of customer service & the poor quality of work. read more

I advised him it's there job and if they fixed it the first time they wouldn't have a bad review. Really obnoxious customer service coming from Shawn. Record everything they say !!! From the moment they walk in to your door. Had a basement crack repaired by them that for $2500. One year later saw that the water leak from the same spot, called them and they said they don't guarantee their work, no warranties either. Amazingly enough, they don't even acknowledge that there might be problem with their job and want to sell me full waterproofing. Letting everyone know so that they get what they deserve. read more

Very unhappy with their service. Per their recommendations they installed a French drain, but it did not alleviate the difficulties with flooding during heavy rain storms. This company is the worst to do water basement proofing. They take your money after a mess up job and the never comeback when u have a problem. There workers on the crew that came to work on my daughter's house the Forman in charge hardly understand English and is very stubborn and very unprofessional. When they dig the floor if they take two inches of cement they only put back inch and a half back. After the job was done we call him back because the pump was defective and they said the pump was working ok, the water level goes almost to the top we got to make sure we play with the pump to get it working. We send the pictures with the water lever high and the never pay no mind to it. Stay away from this company ,very unprofessional and irresponsible. Do not trust what they tell you! I had a new sump pump and piping installed. I have a finished basement. During the sales process with Kurt he told me they can easily remove my paneling and we could put it back up without an issue. That was not the case. When the crew showed up they said that they would not be able to do what he promised and that they would need to either cut it or remove it completely which would not be able to be done without damaging it all. I called the office, they were very rude. I asked if I could cancel the job since it was not what was promised. They said they would not return my $1,400 deposit. I ended up getting the work done and now I have a mess to fix. I need to pay someone to install 2 x 4s since the cut all of them and removed some completely, install new molding (since all was damaged), new insulation, fix the tracking for the ceiling, and put up all new walls. It will cost me thousands of dollars to fix what they damaged. This is not what I signed up for. read more

We hired Basements Love Us due to a reasonable price quote for the scope and scale of our foundation repair project and (seemingly) trustworthy policies regarding insuring workers, etc. I will say, the workmanship by the "boots on the ground" employees was overall satisfactory. However, we now, less than a year later, have black mold growing on our relatively newly installed dry wall. It is ONLY on the portion that BLU installed, yet they have refused to correct the problem, telling us it isn't covered under their warranty. Most importantly, dealing with the administrative office at Basements Love Us was an utter nightmare and made my husband and I feel very stressed and undervalued as customers. Due to the contractual arrangements with the sellers when we bought our home, payment for our project came directly from a neutral party upfront, in its entirety. We were already a bit concerned about this and felt that payment upfront could cause a lack of incentive for excellent, timely workmanship. We explained this process in advance to BLU, and were given approval. Basements Love Us confirmed our worst fears. We booked our service at the beginning of August, and payment was mailed directly to BLU. We were never contacted to schedule the service. We had to call to confirm receipt and we were told they didn't have the payment. Then, after shuffling through the papers, they called back and confirmed receipt. Still no date scheduled for the service. It was MONTHS before BLU came out to perform our foundation repair. Every time we would call the office we were treated like a nuisance and told we were just waiting "to be scheduled." Re: We already have your money, so we have no incentive to come out in a timely manner. We received a phone call asking us to measure OUR OWN basement to "expedite the process." It got so ridiculous that we considered just asking for a refund. When we explained that we would be taking action if we did not receive a service date, we finally got a phone call. We were told the initial work installing beams would take up to three days. The initial crew wasn't even sure of the work, and one gentleman asked my husband if he should "take the wall down" rather than replace it. We returned home the day the work was done and observed what seemed to be good worksmanship...but the crew never showed up again. No one called to say they finished early. We were given a particular amount of time necessary for concrete to cure, and once again BLU did not schedule the second half of the service for WEEKS after their initial quoted time estimate. I could not enjoy my basement because it was not sheet rocked as promised and all of my things were covered to protect them from debris. Numerous calls (with rude responses from office based employees) and weeks later, we finally got the final portion of our service scheduled. I had to explain to the young man leading the process of sheet rocking over the beams that moving the ENTIRE wall out to the length of the new bolts (securing the steel beams) would render the stairs to our basement impassable and our basement unusable. I had to suggest a way to enclose the bolts without this very negative result. We never received a final invoice detailing the way the funds were allocated, nor did we ever sign off (verbally or physically) on the completion of and our satisfaction with the project. Overall, though the job was done well, dealing with the company itself regarding the job made us feel used, abused, and like they did NOT provide a trustworthy standard of customer service. read more

Do not use this company just like others have said!!! If i had seen these reviews, boy would I have gone elsewhere! The day the workers left my home I was pleased with the work--they did a great job from what i could tell. However, later while the rain was pouring outside, I noticed a hole in the foundation of my basement near the floor close to the laundry sink that was allowing rain to leak inside. I never noticed this before with my water problem. I contacted the worker who was on the job and he said this could be arranged as a service call to apply hydro cement to patch the hole. He asked me to call the office so I did. They told me that the water was due to a plumbing problem coming from the pipe next to the hole and that this was not their problem to fix. I contacted Kurt who sold me on their services to explain this was not a pipe issue. He admitted that this was something he should have caught in the original assessment and if he had, he would have included it in the work order for no extra cost. However since he didn't, this was not covered under warranty and he said I should do it myself. I sent an email with the photo of the leaking wall to Shannon, a very rude woman who answers the phone, and she said this was a plumbing issue. I then had my plumber come to my home; and he told me this was not a pipe problem but indeed a hole in the wall that could be patched with hydro cement. So I contacted Shannon again who continued to say that this is additional work and I only paid for waterproofing my basement. HUH??? If this hole allows water to enter my basement, why wouldn't it be part of waterproofing my basement? And if Kurt said this was something he could have caught and included for free, why wouldn't they offer to come out and fix it? Shannon didn't even attempt to tell me what it would take if I did want to pay extra; and when I asked, she said I would have to wait weeks as they were completely booked up. But funny how they secured the work order to begin less than 24 hours later!! They wanted nothing to do with helping me after I spent thousands of dollars and trusted their services. This was something that could have easily been done if they cared about keeping a good reputation with their customers and to secure referral business. In addition to not wanting to fix this easy problem, Shannon and another employee had the nerve on more than one occasion to accuse me of forcing the worker to hook up my sink. Kurt told me on the phone before the work was completed that the new sink could be placed in cement but they couldn't hook it up. I said that was fine. However, when the work was done Mike showed me my new basement and a newly connected sink which i figured was done as a courtesy. Later it was discovered that it was not securely connected and the hot and cold connections were reversed. So when I noted this to the office they told me Mike was suspended for doing something he shouldn't have and blamed me for it! I was appalled by their accusations when even if I asked Mike to do something he shouldn't have, it's his responsibility to follow the code isn't it?? I do not trust this company and it is clear that they do not stand behind professionalism and courtesy to their customers. They just want your money and don't care that you are 100% satisfied. A company who charges what they charged me should do all they can to offer solutions to ensure that the problem is completely resolved and they definitely more than disappointed me. read more
