Basha's has been at the PSU park blocks for a long time, offering a quick (I'm talking lightning) falafel to all the students buzzing by for $5.00. Today I noticed they may be skimping on their serving size, but it's still a decent portion. I always get the falafel "burrito style" which we nickname "Big Mac Falafel." It comes with lettuce, pickles, basmati rice and tahini sauce and is $6. They also have a hummus platter and chicken shawarma -- the usual. Their baklava sucks.

Best lentil soup ever + sambal + pepper.

Most items on their menu can be made vegan. Just ask. I eat here every Saturday when I go to the farmers market. Their falafel is tasty!

I knew that the next time I came to visit Portland I was going to have Mama Chow's again. It's been almost six years since I tried Mama Chow's for the first time and there's always that anxiety of wondering if the food is as good as the memory was since so much time has passed. I can confirm that the food was just as good as the last time I had it. I arrived a little after 12pm and Jeff Chow helped us. He was so nice about explaining the items on the menu to my partner, saying happy new year to us, and making us feel welcoming because we were his first customers of the day. I ordered the chicken wings with garlic noodles and it didn't disappoint. So much flavor in the garlic noodles and the sauce that comes with it. The fried chicken was amazing as well with the right amount of flavor and crunch on the outside and tenderness on the inside. My hope is that I don't have to wait another six years to come back to Portland, but when I do I'll be visiting Mama Chow's Kitchen again.

This food cart is only open Thursday-Sunday and today was my lucky day. The guy running things was super friendly; seemed like there were only a couple options on the menu today which suited me fine - garlic noodz it was! The fired chicken was very nicely done; crispy and juicy but. It greasy. The noodles had a nice, sturdy bite to them and the sauce was really good. I got mild but I need to believe in myself more and go for medium spice next time. Would love to try some of the other dishes in the future, if the stars align and I get the chance once more.

There is plenty of seating there and It looked like there was a space for live music and string lights - probably a fun spot to grab dinner in the evening. We came for lunch and ordered the chao mian with chicken (spicy) and bian bian noodles (spicy). The noodles are cooked to order and we were served quickly. The serving sizes are huge. Neither one of us could finish ours. We'll likely order one dish to split next time, and that'd still probably be more than enough. The flavor of the chao mian was a bit lackluster. It was savory with a soy sauce flavor base, but got a bit repetitive with each bite. It was decently spicy and texture was there with the veggies, but I wish there was a way to customize with more spice or vinegar to taste. The bian bian noodles were more flavorful and also spicier. Fun noodle texture. There are also other vendors in the garden so you can pair a dessert, drink, or side with your meal while staying in the same area. Overall, a filling meal for a good price! Would come again to try their beef noodle soup.

The culinary experience was truly remarkable, and the customer service was exceptional. The restaurant's location is also highly favorable, contributing to its overall appeal. As a Jamaican who grew up in the Miami neighborhood known as "Little Haiti," I have had ample exposure to Haitian cuisine, particularly griot. My childhood memories include saving my allowance to purchase griot from a Haitian lady's house on Fridays, with the assistance of a neighbor who spoke her language. My first taste of griot occurred when I was 11 years old. I felt compelled to share this background information to establish my credentials in assessing the quality of Haitian cuisine. Tap Tap Cuisine proved to be an exceptional gem in this regard. Plus, my 2 friends who accompanied me are of Haitian background. We all gave it a 10 out of 10! In all areas. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, creating an immediate sense of camaraderie. By the time we departed, we felt like part of the restaurant's extended family. Tap Tap Cuisine operates as a family-run establishment. The ambiance took me back to an island setting. I will most DEFINITELY be back again! If you are in or is visiting the Portland area. Do yourself a favor and check them out!
