We've been dining here (back in the day) for years, and now it's take out only. The food is always fresh and impeccably packed for transport, utensils, etc. Never an error in years. The tamarind duck and yellow curry are so good. They even put up with my "no tomatoes or...add ...instead". Brown rice can be substituted at no charge. My husband's only complaint, twice he felt there was no tamarind sauce on the Pad Thai...weird. We understand, but wish they were still open for lunch. read more

Average overall. We 2 ordered for take away the Pad See Ew, Thai Rolls with chicken, and Tofu Triangles. I thought the noodle dish was pretty good, but that was not consensus. We needed to add soy sauce because there was so little flavor. All components were cooked well. The tofu was fried too long so the coating was tough and the tofu was dry. The rolls were cooked perfectly but offered little flavor. The provided dipping sauces were adequate only for 2 pieces of tofu and 1 1/4 of the rolls. Our order was promised for 15 minutes and was ready when we arrived. The counter person was pleasant and there was no line or waiting. They only offer take-away service. read more

Food is amazing. It's very fresh and tasty. I love to order the pineapple rice with chicken and shrimp. There is no sit down service. Everything is to go and they make sure they pack everything up perfect for you if you're looking for a fresh side of Asian food this place is for you. I'm lucky enough to live near basil Thai in order frequently, still in the process of trying out their different soups. Basil Thai was delicious! It is important to note that they are not open for dining in, only takeout.. We ordered the Red Curry with Chicken and the Noodles on the Beach. The serving size of the Red Curry was humungous! I thought they accidentally gave us a soup, but nope, it was the red curry chicken and a lot of it! The flavor was great and they were very generous with the chicken and vegetables. The noodle dish was tasty - the description said it had a spicy house sauce, but it was not very spicy, which was fine with me as I was actually afraid of it being too spicy. If you do want spice, they did say they can customize it for a spicer taste. We also got two thai iced teas which were made perfectly. One thing to note with it being takeout only: be mindful of what you order and what type of dishes you have access to. For example, if you get a curry dish, make sure to have a bowl handy! But that was a personal issue and nothing to do with Basil Thai. The place was quick, the food was super hot, and the servings were generous + the prices seemed to be a little better than some of the other options. Update: I have been here 3 times since my last review. The food is solidly authentic & good Thai food but the portions are smaller which is disappointing bc the prices are around $12-$14- which I think mandates a good portion size. (I also compare this to other very good authentic Thai food restaurants in the area). I have had the fried spring rolls which are light & flavorful. Night magic is a stir fried eggplant dish with minced chicken, basil, in a spicy brown sauce. It's very good. I have ordered Pad See Ew 3x & it's yummy. It's a stir fried dish with wide rice noodles, egg, chicken, shrimp, carrots, broccoli in a slightly sweet black soy sauce. The service is prompt & cordial. I had Na Plua tonight which is a Spicy COLD grilled beef with tomato, red pepper, cucumber, Green onion, mushroom, mint, cilantro, lime & chili paste ON A BED OF LETTUCE. It's really like a salad & is very acidic bc of the lime. If you like Tom Kha or Tom Yum soup, you will like this! First off, the place is very clean inside, it's sad that it is in a strip mall that is run down, with most of the places closed. Customer service was OK. As for the food, it was decent. Pad Thai was mostly noodles. Shrimp in a blanket (I think) were just blah, the special sauce tasted like honey mustard. Steamed dumplings, were good, asked for extra sauce with the steamed dumplings, it was repeated back, but of course did not get it. We also got Chicken Satay. Chicken Satay was thinner than we have had before, but the peanut sauce that came on the side was good. We may try it again, after season, to see if it makes a difference. read more

At first I did not see they even had any inside, at least two pieces should be inside the wrap. Other than that it tasted very fresh ! Pad Thai and wings we got were suppose to be spicy. But I did agree with that. No spice in the pad Thai and very mild wing sauce however the wings were crispy and very good. Pad Thai was also very good. I trusted the stars..my Shumai I were tiny but ok, more mayo than a mustard sauce..my wonton soup needed seasoned, we're too many big unspoonable veggies..my pad Thai was white, mushy, overcooked scallion, a sprinkle of pizza style pepper flake, 3 shrimp, bland thin chicken, not much egg, no tamarind sauce, and tasted like a bit of lime juice..I had asked if there were sauces in the bag and the answer was yes..my instinct told me something was fishy as the bag was stapled together very well...in the end yea it's edible, but it ain't 50$ worth...so there I was eating my rice moosh at the hotel w no emergency sauces to improve it... read more

This hole in the wall is amazing. Service was excellent. We tried the tom kha soup and chicken larb appetizer special. Tom kha was on point, generous serving and a good amount of chicken! The larb was delicious. I would definitely order it again. The spicy pad thai was AMAZING. I love pad thai so I've had it at way too many places. This place takes the cake. On my mini Memorial day weekend getaway I tired this restaurant on my last night in Yarmouth. It was good, the shrimp fried rice had lots of flavor, the crab Rangoon was a pretty good size, the pad sew noodles were tasty and had lots of vegetables. I ordered a small tom yum soup that was super delicious. I wish they had added a tad more vegetables although they were generous with the mushrooms. The only reason I did not give a 5 star rating was the pad thai noodles needed more sauce and they could have tasted a little more sweet and sour. The noodles were tasteful, just not what they should be like. I failed to take pictures of my meal because I was tired and hungry lol! read more

We ate here a couple years prior to Covid and had a great meal, but this time around not so great. Pad Thai noodles were mushy and dry. While the flavor was interesting it seemed hastily put together. Too few dumplings in the order and they were very small. Thai wings were just breaded with no flavor or sauce. Eat in is no longer an option here so maybe throw some sauce packets in the bag? Disappointed. read more

A yummy melody of veg, spicy broth and nice seafood bits. The wings were equally delicious but I'm hunting for someone who can meet those at Pak Pak in Portland, OR. Our go to Thai place when on Cape. If you hit it at a busy time, the wait can be ridiculously long. But we have always found the owner to be upfront and honest about the wait. Quiet unassuming friendly place. Staff was friendly and attentive. Now here's the deal on the food... The gra pro chicken is AWESOME. i mean....it's one of the best I've ever had. It's flavorful, it's spicy and the portion was HUGE. It was more than enough to split the meal with another person but I totally nom'd the whole thing. It's a five star gra pro!! I can't stress enough the quality and perfection of the main course because the appetizer was an issue.... I had the steamed dumplings. ::Sigh:: Ok so if you open a small restaurant and find it necessary to have a microwave on hand, buy a professional grade appliance that doesn't beep like a home microwave. It's sooo obvious in such a small restaurant. We can hear you press the buttons and we know when the time is up. My steamed dumplings showed up way too fast and the meat in the filling was tough and chewy. That usually means microwave. I don't expect dumplings to be steamed from scratch and assume they have some ready to serve that only require minor prep. That said please throw them in boiling water or steam rather than the microwave. Overall I love the place. I would definitely go back and highly recommend it. read more

If you like Thai, don't overlook this stunning gem. The atmosphere isn't over the top and you'll need to look past the obviously run down buildings surrounding it but the food was spectacular. I came here with two of my friends and we all ordered different meals and appetizers. One of our party even ordered the sticky rice with Mango for dessert. We all ordered our own appetizer. I got the chicken satay. It was amazing. I shared some with my friends. For dinner we all ordered different entre's. I got Massamun Curry and it was fantastic. Colorful, fresh and piping hot. I'm posting a picture. We all tried a taste of the dessert and it was delicious. The service was appropriately attentive and made sure we had whatever we needed whenever we needed it. If you love Thai, go to the Basil Thai in South Yarmouth. You will not be disappointed. Note: loved it so much we went back 2 days later with the rest of our party and they were amazed with the flavors provided. I tried another entre, Boston chicken, and shared a scallion pancake appetizer. Both were served piping hot and both tasted fantastic. Best Thai food I've had on Cape. The pad thai and green/red curries were fantastic, as was their Noodles on the Beach. They cook their shrimp perfectly which is a nice change of pace from the over cooked pencil erasers served everywhere else on Cape. The tofu in the red curry was also flawless. I love spicy food and their 5 star spice level was a nice balance of heat and flavor. I'll probably ask for the 8 star next time. Clean kitchen, friendly service, and great food.
