Called late on a Friday evening and asked if they could squeeze us in and the older Italian gentleman I spoke to was incredibly friendly and put me down. Now when we arrived, there was hardly anyone there and we were the only reservation.... so he led me astray letting me know he could squeeze me in but still, very nice! The inside is a little dated, but quaint and clean. We started with a Cesar salad, pasta fagioli soup, and their oil/garlic/vinegar dip for the bread. The Cesar was excellent though a little expensive for the size salad. The soup was outstanding! My wife loved the oil dip for the bread! For the mains we had chicken Parmesan and the clam pasta dish. I liked the Parmesan, would order it again tomorrow! My wife said the clam pasta was good, not as good as at the coast, but very tasty. Our server was efficient. He was nice and you could tell he was still learning . Overall we had a nice meal and will back! I was surprised it was not busier on a Friday evening. To those about to nosh, I salute you!

We first visited Mama Mia a number of years ago and had an ok experience. Our friends recently raved about it and we decided to try it again. unfortunately we had the same result as the last time. Don't get me wrong, the service was good. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. The food however was just ok. I am sorry to say that there wasn't anything that really grabbed me. We started with the calamari and then I had the Zuppa Di Pesce and again it was just ok. I think that there are better options in the Charlotte area, even the Lake Norman area.

Great Italian food! Don't let the outdated interior and carpet scare you away! The flavors and dish are real here! And their service was really great. My husband and I have brought 2 groups of out of towners here and everyone love it! Definitely worth the try! My husband got the chicken parm and I had the pappardelle. Sooo good. My parents got the veal piccata and mushroom ravioli

If this is good Italian you must enjoy olive garden. The house itself is unappealing, service is ok. The quality is not there.

They do not take reservations, so you have to get there to get on list. Today happened to be a perfect Tuesday evening to go; there was no wait. The waitress wasted no time to come over and share all the appetizer and main course specials. She did a great job explaining the dishes and answering any concerns. If she wasnt sure, she made sure to get clarification with any substitutions. Everything we had was very good. Each item was either fresh or well seasoned. After an amazing dinner, we were offered the dessert menu. We all were full but the waitress reminded us that we would get a complimentary teramisu or cannoli for my aunts birthday. We picked the tiramisu. Which was amazing. The ambiance is very warm with low-light dining. Will definitely be returning for special occasions or if company comes to town. See you again Antico

I shared the pesto cappelini with my child-it was not very good, we gave the pesto pasta a 1.5/5 Neither of us had much interest in eating more. My partner had the chicken cacciatore 3/5 rating. This was more palatable however, my husband says it's definitely not one of the best that he's had.. I server was nice and attentive when getting us the drinks, however, they did not check on the food quality once. But towards the end of the meal as my son and I were not touching our food, they asked us if we wanted boxes to go - it was quite obvious. They were trying to do this to free up the table. However, my partner was still working on their dish As we left the restaurant, it was surprising the line of people waiting outside for a table, I hope they had a better experience. The ambience inside felt OK, but it was nothing extraordinary, however, the weight staff all had professional looking uniform.

I loved the flavor of the white truffle garlic bread but it was a little too hard like it was overcooked. The meatballs were pretty good and had a nice ricotta on it. Review for North Italia…read more has absolutely become one of my staples in Charlotte.** It's located in the heart of South End--a trendy, energetic neighborhood with beautiful outdoor dining--and one of the biggest perks here is easy parking, which, as any Charlotte diner knows, is always a win. Inside, the restaurant is gorgeous. Think large, comfortable booths, warm lighting, fresh flowers, and a lively but polished atmosphere. I always make a reservation through OpenTable--I'm too old to be waiting around to eat, and I might as well rack up some points and perks while I'm at it. One of the things I appreciate most about North Italia is their seasonal menu. It keeps the experience fresh and thoughtful, and you can tell the kitchen is paying attention to ingredients and timing. I usually start with a glass of wine-- a sparkling rosé or a crisp Sauvignon Blanc--something cold, clean, and refreshing. Bubbles are always a good option for me. They serve a delicious focaccia at the table, which I sometimes indulge in, but the dish that truly stands out--the one I still dream about--was a seasonal ravioli with butternut squash and crispy sage. It was beautifully balanced, comforting, and memorable in the best way. Other favorites: * The Caesar salad--perfectly dressed * The arancini and calamari--always solid starters * The pizzas, especially the cacio e pepe * And yes, the desserts are absolutely worth saving room for Brunch here is also a lovely experience. Sitting on the patio, eating alfresco on a sunny Sunday, reminds me so much of what I loved about California--being outdoors, enjoying great food, and taking your time. Thankfully, there's plenty of shade, so it's comfortable even on warm days. They do offer a happy hour. It's not the most extensive in town, but it's perfectly fine for drinks, a pizza, or a charcuterie board with friends after work. What keeps me coming back: * Consistently good service * Clean, beautiful space * Thoughtful seasonal dishes * Easy parking * Reliable quality Yes, it's a bit upscale--but it's approachable, welcoming, and dependable. And when a chef takes the time to create seasonal dishes that appeal to diners with curious palates, that deserves recognition. Bottom line: A polished, reliable favorite in South End that delivers great food, beautiful ambiance, and a consistently enjoyable dining experience.

The sweet juicy pineapple paired perfectly with salty ham, crispy bacon, and gooey cheese on their excellent crust. We added spicy large jalapeños on top, and they delivered a solid, fresh heat that elevated the whole pie -- the sweetness, smokiness from the bacon, and spices heat played off each other beautifully.
