So many great things to say about Basin 141. We had some tasty beer, excellent food, and even better service from our waiter, Paul. My only slight complaint is that our meals came out merely minutes after our appetizers. Not a big deal at all, just wished it was spaced out a little longer. Another place that we were going to try out was closed. So as we were walking back to our car, we spotted The Basin 141 in Monrovia. Nice clean modernized place and a nice waitress assisted us. Chicken sandwich was perfect and yes they made the fries crispy. My friend loved his chicken and waffles. I gotta try that someday. We got shaved corn x 2. Mmmm... that was so so good. Love this place. The waiter Paul was so sweet, attentive, and friendly. The food was AMAZING. I got the chilaquiles with chicken (*drool) and my husband got the breakfast burrito and he loved it. This is my favorite Bar in Monrovia. It's got an amazing community feel as an open space design. The service is always excellent and it's perfect bar food bites on a Friday after work ! I will often swing by on my way home for a quick cocktail to decompress from the vigors of work ! Always has the sports channels covered for real time games and matches. The gold hand blown glass Chandeliers and high ceiling with gold lighting make for an amazing experience. I've been to Basin 141 a few times now before and during this pandemic. I definitely do miss the atmosphere before the pandemic, but surprisingly I've gotten used to outdoor dining. I'm honestly obsessed with their braised short rib anything. Why can't they have their braised short rib sliders available all the time?? It's too delicious! My last visit I opted for the grilled cheese with the addition of braised short rib and a side of tomato soup. Their drink selection is the main reason I come here. My fiance loves the rotating beers. I'm on the pickier side and this time they had something that piqued my interest-- Ale Smith's Oktoberfest. Otherwise I typically order a margarita. I'm writing this review right now in regards to my last visit's service. The waiter went above and beyond. My fiance was really stressed from work and he was happy not to ever wonder where the waiter was, when our food would come out, or when he could order his next drink. In my opinion, this guy was really respectful. Why he said he appreciated us? I wish I knew. But I particularly felt happy that he acknowledged my presence. That sounds WEIRD but typically servers always look towards my fiance for conversation or whether he wants another drink. He also called me ma'am which I never hear especially because everyone thinks I'm a child. I might have said too much but this guy literally deserves mad props!! read more

Dope little spot to grab grab cocktails in Monrovia. They have happy hour 3pm-6pm tacos, fries, specials on well drinks, beers and sangria. Nestled on the corner this place provides ample outside sitting space for guests. They take temperature at the door and hand sanitizer is available. Specialty drinks are bomb but will run you about 15 bucks. I think the location is clutch it's right in the bustling part on Monrovia. Seems like there is a lot of people out and about even for a Friday afternoon during the pandemic. Overall cool date spot, I would def visit again. 5 stars peeps good job. read more

I saw they didn't have reservations online so I called the day of and the lady on the phone was able to take my name down and have a table ready for me and my party once we arrived. I'm glad it wasn't super busy on a Sunday afternoon even with all the NFL games playing. they also had a menu catered to the football games, but we were focused on brunch. the vibes were pretty cool!! most of my party ordered bottomless mimosas and the one thing I'll say is I wish they would have been refilling our glasses a little faster because we had to ask for another round every time we had finished, so minus the one star for that I totally forgot to take pictures of all our food, but the brunch dishes that stood out were the BRIOCHE FRENCH TOAST and the chilaquiles!! overall, I really enjoyed celebrating my 24th here with all my besties!! Was really excited about trying this place, walked passed it a few times on my way the the theater. The vibe is great the music awesome, the service is spot on, but the food... complete opposite. Had the pretzel as an appetizer, it tasted stale, I mean they warmed it up( not by much) but is was dry with no chewy goodness like a pretzel usually offers, and the cheese beer sauce, not a hit. The pot roast sandwich is what I ordered. The waitress ( who was awesome) said it was something special. I was undecided between the fish and chips or the sandwich. I took her advise and got it. It is served in a cast iron skillet, everything was in that flat iron skillet. Shoe string fries u set a wet sandwich with au jus, so yes soggy fries that were some how still just barely warm not crispy at all and def not fresh. The pot roast meat was so dry even with the cheese and the onions it was so dry, there was no fat on the meat to make it juicy and nice to chew,. Your bite is so confusing, first you get this soft bollio. (Not even a crusty French roll) then the soft cheese and sautéed onions, then the meat, which will just suck up all the moisture in your mouth. Dipping into the au jus will not help this sandwich at all. Husband had the burger, and said it was good, but nothing really stood out. It seems like it's more of a hangout to drink and eat small bites, unfortunately I was looking for a meal and this place did not deliver. Went here on a Saturday night around 7:30pm to celebrate my birthday with my husband and two friends. We got lucky with a parking spot right in front. The day before, we were told it was walk in only, no reservations. Luckily we got seated in less than 10 mins. As for ambiance, it wasn't crazy packed but it was busy. Regular social vibe for a bar. They had the football game on every TV. We noticed that our waiter, Travis, was so helpful, hard working, and friendly. Service was excellent for being so busy. We tried the shrimp pasta blanco which was sooo good! It had a bit of a kick to it which I was surprised. I don't like spicy food but it was too good to stop eating haha. Maybe next time I'll ask them to go easy on the spice if possible. We also ordered the pork belly tacos. They were good and flavorful, good sauce. Fine to order once but I probably wouldn't order again. My friend got the pork belly bahn mi and said it was good but she had had better elsewhere. Another friend got the steak and fries--ordered it medium and said it was excellent! The "best steak he had had in awhile." My husband ordered the smoke and fire cocktail because he likes mezcal and said it was delicious. My friend got a dirty martini with vodka and really enjoyed it--it had a savory flavor to it. I got the Mexican lager Sonrisa and absolutely loved it. Super light and easy to drink. All in all, we had a lot of fun here. The food and drinks were delicious. I can't wait to go back and try more! This place is hit or miss. Unfortunately, yesterday was a miss. We ordered drinks and I ordered a J Winery Pinot Noir ($12/glass) and after a few sips I asked to see the bottle because it didn't taste like J Winery. They confessed that is was actually Poppy (at $10/bottle at the store, not worth $12/glass!) Definitely not the same level of wine. Next up was the wedge salad $12.50 (The Wedge: Crisp Iceberg, Danish Bleu Cheese, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Baby Heirlooms, Brioche Croutons, Shaved Red Onion) It came out with no blue cheese and no bacon and when I told them they offered to bring out a side of bacon if I wanted. I felt like I was troubling them for bringing it up. To top it off there were no apologies and we were charged full price for everything including all of the mistakes. Alas the wait is over and I have entered Basin 141. Basin 141 Social Bar + Kitchen is a bar tavern and one of the coolest place to grab a drink in old town Monrovia. Their indoor atmosphere was very chill and classy perfect for the Billionare's club. Staff was attentive, assiduous and very welcoming. Service was impeccable. Before entry customers are required that their temperature to be taken and require mask inside. Interior design was well conceived and very stylish with wooden bar tables, marble counter top full bar and sleek modern led lighting lamp. Moreover, it is very spacious and well dim lit. As far as drinks is concern, they have a plethora on their menu from beers, cocktails to wine to hard liquor. They have happy hour from 3 pm - 6 pm. Moreover, the cool part if you want to order food, they have contactless food menu by scanning a QR code posted on the table. Bloody brilliant! Also, they limit your food consumption and visit to 90 minutes. Anyways, I ordered a glass of Troublemaker Red Blend, a red wine, that has a good dry taste. My friend lives in Monrovia, and we decided to come to this place for dinner because of outdoor dining options. There is adequate spacing between all the tables and the place is very clean. The menu is fairly standard American bar food, and they also serve tacos. I had not had a restaurant quality burger in quite a while, so I ended up ordering the Black Angus Basin Burger, adding a fried egg, and sharing it with my wife. My wife and I both love eggs, and I personally think eggs go very well in a burger. The fries were fairly standard, nothing particularly special. However, we both really liked the burger. The special sauce was not just some variant of thousand island, and tasted more like a vinaigrette that enhanced the flavor of the beef. The egg white alone went well with the burger, the runny egg yolk made it divine. I would not say it's the best burger I've ever had in my life, but it was still very juicy and flavorful. Pretty disappointed, my husband and I have eaten here before with our kids (they are infants in a stroller). We just ate outside put the stroller to the side no big issue. This weekend we tried going to eat again and the host would not work with us. There was only one table being used outside and she was adamant that we could only be seated at the table being used. Her reason being was that the stroller would be and issue. However, we didn't have thay issue before, we didn't block any walk way or cause any seating issues but nope we were told we would have to wait for whenever the table was done if we wanted to eat there. So if you like a weekend out for brunch/lunch and you have a stroller, hopefully there isn't someone on the "one and only" table that they have for people with a stroller. read more

I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. The rosemary gives it this savory taste that makes is oh so delightful with the sweetness of the syrup. My wife ordered the salmon and she said it was perfectly cooked and not dry or overdone. The flavors were on point yet again and it is one of her favorite places to get salmon. This last time I ordered, we ordered some desserts and the chocolate bread pudding...wow. It is not too chocolatey but just enough and not so overpoweringly sweet. Add in the vanilla ice cream and it is a match made in heaven. You want to support a local spot here in Monrovia, this is the place. read more

Ate there last week for lunch. The good: Two stars for the tacos. They are good if they get your order right. The bad: Server had to come back and ask several times what we ordered (I guess they don't write anything down), then still got the tacos order wrong. It was corrected when it was pointed out that one of the tacos was wrong - server admitted she ordered it that way and thinks she misheard the order. We ordered iced tea; options were black or floral. We don't like flavored iced tea so ordered black. It came out tasting like it had flowers in it. When we pointed out that we were given the wrong tea because it tastes like it has flowers in it, the server insisted that this was their black tea and not their floral tea. It was sent back and taken off the bill. Ordered chicken tortilla soup with avocado added. It came out lukewarm and was so salty it was inedible - the avocado was the only thing eaten and even that was tough to eat because of the saltiness of the broth. Also the tortilla strips had sat so long in the soup they looked like and had the consistency of noodles. The server didn't ask why the soup wasn't eaten or if the food was ok. We paid for uneaten soup as we just didn't want to complain a third time about a problem with the food. I know places can have a bad day, but so many things wrong. Honestly what drew me to this place was the picture of the nachos and it did not disappoint. I had the espres"Olla" martini, and it was very tasty. My significant had an IPA recommended by our great waiter Paul, and it too was also amazing. The basin burger was so delicious, and the bun was great too. We've been to Basin about 3 times now and I think we're gonna become regulars. The food is consistently good. The drinks are spot on also. I will say, my son had the nachos and he said they really weren't good. But, that's the only thing we've come across. Fish and chips are super good. The tacos are amazing.
