OK, let's start with. I absolutely love breakfast! It's my favorite meal of the day. If you notice the majority of my reviews are breakfast places. Marko came out to greet us and welcome us to his restaurant. That was a very nice touch and greatly appreciated. We were seated quickly with menus in our hands. The water and coffee came quickly. The coffee was probably the best coffee I have had at breakfast in years. I typically feel offended by what I have to pay for coffee and the quality that I'm served. That wasn't the case here. Their coffee is very good. It's $4.50 which is on the higher side, but at least it's good coffee. Both meals were very good and large portions. Sorry I didn't get more pictures, but I was hungry! The breakfast burrito was done very well and a good size. I ended up only eating half of it for breakfast and just finished the other half for lunch. That's a good size burrito. The omelette was a good size, and the hashbrowns were plenteous. The omelette was cooked well. Just a tip! The seating is hardwood chairs so they begin to get uncomfortable after about an hour. No don't give me wrong, the tables and chairs are nice. They are just hard and after an hour begin to get uncomfortable. This will be my breakfast joint for the next few weeks to check the consistency. So far it's excellent.!

We were dining outside overlooking the beautiful green San Gabriel Mountains although it's a hot day. Still it was pleasant enough and no lunch crowd. The server was super friendly and helpful. The chorizo con huevo was better than most in the area and the burrito is quite a mouthful. The combination of the scenery and the food made me relax. I would comment a little more chorizo in the egg would have given it enough tang.

I believe this place is overpriced and over rated. The food was mid. Hamburger tasted like frozen patties and onion rings were frozen and over fried. The ambience was nice. They had an outdoor patio style seating that was decorated nice. The service was good as well. But for $70 for lunch for 3, I expected better quality food. It all tasted like fast food.

We recently discovered the Temple City location and had such a great experience, we decided to check out the Duarte spot, especially since it has an outdoor patio where we could bring our pup. We came by for brunch on a Saturday and were seated right away. I ordered the café de olla and the huevos rancheros with tomato sauce, it absolutely hit the spot! My husband went with the chicken green chile verde, and both dishes came with warm, fresh flour tortillas. So good! We loved the green chile verde sauce so much that we asked about it and were able to buy a fresh cup to take home. Service was friendly and attentive, and we're already looking forward to coming back. Bonus: they offer free pancakes with every order on Wednesdays!

Marko's opened another restaurant in Duarté, but brought the same great flavors, huge portions, surprising low price, AND always service where we are treated as family. Come for the food, return for the hugs. Love the festive, open patio ambiance at the new location. Best hash browns, true southern biscuit & gravy, fluffy eggs, thick bacon. Try the Denver Omelette with chopped ham, bell peppers, tomatoes, & onions. It rocks!

Had an amazing experience at Markos! I ordered the chicken fried steak with biscuits and gravy, along with a side of grits--and everything was absolutely delicious. The chicken fried steak was perfectly cooked, the biscuits were soft and flavorful, and the gravy was rich and comforting. The grits were spot on too. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and attentive, which made the experience even better. The ambience was warm and inviting, making it a great place to sit back and enjoy a meal. Highly recommend Markos--I'll definitely be back!

My friend and I came to try out Marko's this morning. My friend had the club sandwich with onion rings and I had the chilaquiles verde with chicken and cafe de olla . The food was fantastic . Our waiter was very nice and attentive. The owner also welcomed us and introduced himself. The restaurant it well lit and decorated nicely. There is outside dining as well. We will be back.

We came to this gem for dinner and were not disappointed! The food was absolutely delicious with a great selection to choose from. We ordered the Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Marsala, Chicken Piccata, BBQ Ribs, and Barbacoa--all of which were flavorful and perfectly prepared. We also tried the house green salad and Caesar salad, both fresh and tasty. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, and our server provided excellent customer service, staying on top of everything throughout our meal. The dining area is outdoors and it was really nice. They also have indoor dining but it's very limited seating. We can't wait to come back and try breakfast next time. A must-try spot!

We basically had a 3-course meal with a salad to share, a ribeye, a pasta with shrimp in vodka sauce, and chocolate cake. All of the food was SO good! The salad was off to a strong start and set the bar high. I ordered the pasta, and it was so yum. I tried a piece of my boyfriend's ribeye, and it was very tender and flavorful. He said that the mashed potatoes that he has ever had at a restaurant. The chocolate cake was very delicious and RICH. So, halfway through, we asked if they have milk, and they did! A tall glass of cold milk and rich chocolate cake - chef's kiss! They are a small, family restaurant with few staff, but we met the owner and chef when we first sat down, and he seemed very friendly and passionate about his trade. The family restaurant with super cute fall decor with a hint of potpourri smell, and add a handful of delicious food is top notch! Let's support this local business so they can stay and thrive!

I love grits and came here for the best grits in the 626! Probably the best time to dine is for breakfast or an early dinner, as dining is mostly outside, with some inside tables. Perfect for summer and fall dining, this will be our "go to" for brunch!!

Had to go back and have those Chilaquiles.... Delicious ! Lots of flavor. My friends really enjoyed their meals as well. Service is great, location is very nice. Definitely a go to when I'm in the area.

    Sal C.

The food was delicious! The buffalo wings were tasty and juicy. The Chicken Marsala was my favorite dish. All the flavors were just right. You can't ever go wrong with mushrooms! The fries and onion rings were so crispy! My wife thought the Carbonara was good and said it was made in a different way than she was use to. The creamy sauce was ok, just a little strong if you are picky. The service was the best part. The owner made us feel like it was our home and is very kind. It being a family business, the hospitality was a blessing! The scenery was cozy and gorgeous!

New experience! Food: 4/5 Calamari Marplantese: 5/5 The Calamari here is very fresh. Its very soft, and chewy, and the outer batter is very light and crispy . The tarter sauce also adds to it, since it has a very nice tangy mix. Empanadas: Beef empanada 4/5 The outter dough is very light and crispy, and the inner filling as beef, onions, peppers, and peas i belive. Its very well seasoned, so i think its a nice item to try for your first tine. Spinach and cheese empanada: 3/5 Not my all time favorite, but its still pretty good. Good mix of cheese and spinach inside. Personally, the cheese isn't it for me. Fettuccine De La Estancia: 4/5 I love the thin flat noodles that it has! The fettuccine flavor isn't too overpowering, and its very creamy. The chicken, is well.. chicken! Would order again next time, but id like to try new things! Overall, i would give this a 4/5. Ive seen many other negative reviews of the cleanliness or rude staff, but didnt get any of that today! Honestly I think its a good experience to go out and try this resturant. I think the foods good, so I'll probably come back with friends or family to try new items!

We took advantage of the Restaurant Week promo and headed to try this place out. The parking appears to be valet only; however, is complimentary with your visit (please tip the valet). We went inside and it definitely has a rustic old-timey feel with the red leather booths and all the artwork and memorabilia around the restaurant. Overall, the visit was very good. I had the following for dinner: For an appetizer, I had the spiced meatballs. They were absolutely delicious, cooked to perfection and had an amazing sauce. I also got to try the calamari, which was equally as incredible. For the entree, I had the bacon wrapped filet. Again, cooked to perfection and the taste was wonderful. The side was definitely not quite right. I got the garlic mashed potatoes. They were the most plain potatoes I have ever had. No garlic, no salt, no seasoning. I think they might have accidentally missed the seasoning. For dessert, I tried the bread pudding. It was good; however, I was expecting more from the dessert. Our server was on the face very nice; however, he also was very robotic in his responses. For example, he never let you finish your answer after he asked a question, before replying again and walking away. So overall, an excellent experience. I would return again and give it another try!

Parking is easy enough a block or so away, but finding a close spot is usually hit or miss on Myrtle due to how many restaurants are concentrated in a five block space. I went alone for a quick lunch. Service was exceptionally friendly and generally attentive, though it was a bit of a drag getting my bill settled as the lone server kept getting distracted by other tables and customers. Well, I got the State burger with no pickles and no thousand island sauce. I added bacon for $2.00 and swapped out the potato chips for fries for $1.50. It's happy hour all day until dinner, so the burger was discounted from $16 to $12, which is a good deal. The burger tasted great. The fries were good. The freshness of the lettuce and tomato on the burger actually stood out. I never realized how often you get slightly wilting lettuce at other places until I bit into this super fresh, crisp lettuce. I know that's a weird thing to mention, but it stood out. The only complaint I actually had was the amount of meat used in the burger patty. I think it's very small. They also sell a double smash burger, and I almost felt like this was a smash burger, cause the patty is so thin. It's not, but it's a disappointingly small amount of meat. Still, if you want drinks, it's a lovely looking bar. As I said, service is great. And I will come back for the burger. It's good and cheap, though I would gladly pay five dollars more for more meat. This time the burger was all I tried, but I can recommend. Give it a try for their all afternoon happy hour and the drinks.

I started out with the Coughlin's Law cocktail (Aviation gin, house infused vanilla syrup, fresh lemon, egg white, lavender bitters, $16). It was a good light drink with light vanilla and lemon flavor. I always love a good foam top too. She started out with a Basil Paloma (Herradura silver tequila, muddled basil & grapefruit, fresh grapefruit juice, lime, simple syrup, seltzer, $15). It had good grapefruit and basil flavor, and was nicely balanced. We ordered the buffalo cauliflower appetizer ($14). The cauliflower was supposed to be grilled, but it seemed almost raw. The buffalo sauce definitely had a good kick. For my entrée, I had the Black Angus Basin Burger (manchego cheese, carmelized onions, arugula, special sauce, brioche bun, $19). The burger was excellent. The cheese, carmelized onions, and arugula was a great flavor combo. The fries were good, but I'd order them more crispy next time. She had the two taco plate with fish and potato tacos ($15). The taco shells were freshly fried, and it was a filling plate that she enjoyed. We had one more round of drinks and I had the Billionaire cocktail (Old Forrester 100 proof bourbon, lemon, house made grenadine, absinthe, $16). This was excellent. It was very balanced, and not boozy at all with a very light sweetness. Her second was the Smoke and Fire (Peloton de la Muerte mezcal, Ancho Reyes liqueur, muddled jalapeno & orange, fresh lime, agave, chili salt, $15). It was pretty well balanced with a medium smokiness. It definitely had a kick of heat on the finish. Our server Lakyn was friendly and provided good service. The menu prices are cash prices. There is an extra 3.5% surcharge if you pay with a credit card. The buffalo cauliflower appetizer was mostly a miss, but everything else was very good so I'm rounding up to five stars. They have a very good sized cocktail and food menu, as well as many beers on tap. They also have happy hour specials. We would definitely return if we were in the area again.

We had a great experience at J & A's Cafe…read more My wife and I were looking for a spot for breakfast on the weekend and we decided to stop by. First thing to note would be it's *CASH ONLY*. So just an FYI. The location was full of energy and full of customers. The moment we came in we were well taken care of by the staff. They greeted us and lucky for us a booth was open. It's a spacious restaurant for numerous party sizes. We opted to just shared the corned beef hash and eggs. Our waitress was amazing! She even asked the staff to split the dish into two separate plates. Which was a great surprise. The meal also came with bread of choice. The food came out quickly and the portions were sizable even when split into two. My wife and I enjoyed the corned beef hash plate and both of use finished it handily. I would love to try more things on another visit. The staff and service here is what stood out for me. We felt well taken care of the whole time by all the staff. Thanks, J & A's Cafe! ( ^_^)b

We got 2 hot coffees, 2 different breakfast plates: a California Omelette and Breakfast Quesadilla, and a French Toast to share. I'm a sauce gal, so I was super excited when they brought over 3 different sauces/salsas for our breakfast. I love a good tang to my breakfast, and these sauces were their differentiator. Their California Omelette was served piping hot and came with ham, onion, bell pepper, mushroom on the inside, and melty American cheese on top - my perfect kind of omelette. Ooo and their hash browns are done perfectly. Amazing crust on the outside, soft potato in the middle. I would come back just for their hash browns to be honest. My fiancé also liked his Breakfast Quesadilla and was a big fan of their hash browns, too. We were seated in the back in a booth and they have that great 90s leather feel to them. The whole restaurant is decked out with cool art on the walls and funny signage like, "We do not have Wi-Fi. Talk to each other. Pretend it's 1995" hahaha it made me laugh, and I appreciate that in this day and age, esp my generation where we are glued to phones all the time. The owners and managers must be pretty cool and for that, I will be back just for the chance of meeting these cool people. We will definitely be back to try more of their menu. We felt with happy smiles and full tummies. Till next time!

My girlfriends and I came here for happy hour and dinner, and we had such a good first experience…read more The food was really good! We started with guacamole and chips and fish tacos, then shared a big platter with carne asada, grilled chicken, cheese, nopales, grilled cebollitas and more, along with rice and beans. There was plenty of food to share, everything came out beautifully presented, and everything we tried was delicious. We finished with the churros, which were also really good. The drinks were very well made and actually nice and strong! I appreciate that because so many places serve drinks that taste watered down, and that definitely wasn't our experience here. The restaurant itself is really cute and has some great signs and backgrounds for pictures. We got some really nice group photos for our social media, and one of the employees even volunteered to take a picture for us so we could all be in it, which was really sweet. Even the girls' restroom was super cute and nicely decorated. You can tell they put thought into the little details throughout the place. Our waitress, Marissa, was wonderful from beginning to end. She was sweet, attentive and made sure we were taken care of throughout the night. The other employees we interacted with were also very friendly and helpful. I'm really happy our first experience here was such a good one. I would definitely come back for another girls' night, but I could also see myself coming back with my husband and kids for a family dinner. Definitely a place I would recommend.

Celebrated a birthday here a couple days ago, first time trying it out. Parking is in rear and…read morethere is plenty!! We were seated pretty quickly and had no wait time for a party of 10. Host and waitress were really friendly. We ordered the calamari, molcajete with a Jamaica. Calamari: 5/5 This appetizer was a great way to start our celebration. It was crispy enough to keep you wanting more. The flavor wasn't too fishy and it was accompanied by some tasty dipping sauces. Would definitely order again. Molcajete: 4/5 A favorite at our table that was filled with so many protein options and a nice salsa to pair with. We loved the chicken, chorizo, and the queso!! The only reason it got a 4/5 was because the steak was waaaay too salty which made it hard to enjoy. The shrimp was a nice touch, also not too fishy and the bacon paired nicely. You can definitely taste a variety of flavors and it's also a big enough portion to share! Comes with beans and rice which we ended up splitting with our kiddos. Jamaica: 5/5 We loved the Jamaica here and it tastes very traditional. It doesn't taste like it's made from powder and comes in a huge glass cup. Not too sweet and the bold flavor of the hibiscus makes it hard to stop drinking! Loved it. Overall, a great place to dine in for celebrations or just for a nice dinner. Would definitely recommend if you're nearby. I hope to come back soon.
