The side drumsticks, potato salad, baked beans mac n cheese.
    Sergio Z.

Finding a good resl BBQ restaurant is probably hard to find because it takes time experience quality of meats and the most important thing in BBQ cooking is the wood in most important because it gives flavor to brisket, ribs, chicken, links and much more also an experience pitmaster that know how BBQ is bring in the flavor and tender of the meat. My wife and I decided to come to Monrovia and tryout BBQ Blues,we enjoy good BBQ from Chris N Pitts,Lucille's and other restaurants but we try some what bbq places that didn't any BBQ flavor or smoke in the meat they called it bbq no way. We have try bbq from Texas,Memphis,North Carolina and Kanas City those are real bbq. We step in BBQ Blues and very nice relaxing environment place to have lunch or dinner with friend plus they a bar with a fully stocked and t.v. monitors to watch any sports including the Super Bowl this Sunday. They have a live band on Saturday. We greeted by hostess she told we can seat any where that's we did then waitress brought us the menu and order our drink and look at the menu what to order from their menu. We decided to order the Family Platter come with 8oz of brisket,6oz Tri Tip,beef ribs,2 pork ribs m, three chicken drumsticks and your choice of side. For the side we order baked beans, mac n cheese and potatoes salad. We waited until the waitress brought us the family platter I couldn't believe that's the family platter so much delicious serving of bbq meats on a platter. The other player of the side including the bbq chicken drumsticks that's is the ultimate meal of bbq for $49 a amazing deal it's feed for 4 person. The waitress brought their homemade bbq sauce one is sweet and other is spicy with little of heat. I got some brisket and took a bite of it wow the meat was so tender then look at the brisket it have smoke ring signature on brisket it was cook slow for hours amazing flavors including that smoke preparating the brisket that make brisket a true BBQ. The beef ribs were hugh it feels a Flintstones meal in Bedrock hugh meaty portion. Smoke for hours the meat was tender and falling apart and taste of smoke bring flavor to the beef ribs. The tri tip was so tender full of flavor and can see the smoke ring knowing the meat was perfect and sealing the flavor. The pork ribs were amazing another perfect meal the pitmaster knows how the meats cook long bring those flavor alive in your mouth. We try the drumsticks we couldn't believe the meat was so tender falling apart I didn't add any bbq sauce it already have flavors through the smoke so good. The mac n cheese was rich of flavor I don't know what kind of cheese they use it creamy and unique flavor that we enjoy. The baked bean were very good rich in flavor and the potato salad incredible this meal was fantastic we enjoy. We ask the waitress what kind style of bbq she say Texas then ask her what kind of wood they she say it's a secret like the Colonel. We like to thank the staff of BBQ blue in the waitress for the bbq we will come back soon.

Service is great, very nice interior design, that being said the food is very bland in my opinion. The sides are great. But the actual bbq lacks flavor and is very dry. The bbq sauce is very bland as well.

Came on a Saturday afternoon and the place was empty which made me wonder if the restaurant isn't that good or something. But everything went really well! Service was great and the ladies working were pretty attentive. We ordered a mix combo (we chose beef ribs and brisket with French fries and corn bread) and a wedge salad. The wedge salad was honestly pretty small but it was really fresh and I liked that they didn't drench it in dressing and instead had the dressing on the side. Brisket and beef ribs were amazing. The beef rib was so tender and meaty. The portion was perfect for two people and we actually didn't even finish everything! I definitely will return if I'm ever in the area!

I'm pretty surprised at the rating for this place. But I have only been here once, so I may need to update this again if I come back. What I ordered - Main: Brisket, Beef ribs, and Green Spaghetti - Side: Texas style corn and cole cannon potatoes - Drink: Blue Mississippi and Mango Cart Dish by Dish - Mix-combo, we chose brisket and the beef ribs. The Brisket was a bit dry. The beef rib was sooo tender and juicey. It was great! I saw other reviewers say it was dry so it might depend on your luck but we had a great experience with the beef ribs. It was the best thing we had there. - the mix combo came with two sides, we chose the Texas style corn and cole cannon potatoes. Both weren't anything special, pretty average sides. - Green spaghetti, I really wanted to like this but I wasn't a fan. Quick notes: - Parking: Downtown Monrovia has a lot of 3 hour parking lots. The only time you might have trouble finding parking is during the farmers market on Fridays and Weekend brunch. - Happy hour: Mon-Fri 3 to 6 PM - Service was great, we had a few people come up to check on us and asked how the food was - Chill atmosphere. Nice place to come watch the game. There's a lot of TVs. Price point $ - Under $15 $$ - $15-30 Final Score: 4 out of 5 stars for the bomb beef rib. Would return to try it again.

Their BBQ chicken salad with any meat is a must try durinf these hot days. My favorite is brisket instead of the chicken, absolutely delicious. Tossed in ranch. 10/10 service is exceptional, and ambiance is amazing.

New local spot that took over the 38° location. I really wanted to like this place, seems like a cool spot to watch the game and have some BBQ. I came here on a Friday night and they were completely sold out of all their meats except brisket. They were also sold out on over half the beers they were supposed to have. So obviously I got the brisket. It came out very slightly warm, almost cold. It was not tender. There was almost zero smoke ring, and it was not seasoned well. Did not like it at all. I didn't even finish it and just left it. I also ordered the Texas corn which was just ok. The flavors didn't really feel well integrated. Also got the Mac & cheese which was good. They had a live band Friday night which is great if you're here for that. Otherwise it's extremely loud inside you can't even talk to the person next to you. Overall I was underwhelmed here. I didn't see any smokers outside so they must buy their meats from someone else. I hope they switch suppliers and get their inventory under control. I'll give them another shot in a few months and hopefully they can improve by then.

    No Bark

Okay, I am sorry. My previous review had glowing praise for this little BBQ joint in downtown Monrovia. After all, the prices were really good and, even though they appeared to be adverse to salt, the food wasn't that bad. Well, I am sorry, because time has apparently proved me wrong. For that, I apologize. Stopped by for late lunch today, and OMG - this place has gone down the toilet. I'm not kidding, I don't think I've ever had a worse BBQ experience in my (far to long of a) life. Let's start with the BBQ Beef Short Ribs, which I had again today. I don't think the photos I took actually do it justice, because it was HORRIBLE. To start, the price has gone from $17 to $23, which I am okay with, I'm not blind (like so many of the Yelp Elite in this region) to the fact that prices are going up for everyone, and I am perfectly fine with restaurants adjusting their prices when their cost goes up. *This is not to say I am happy about how everything is getting more expensive, but that's a gripe for another day. Okay, so you raised your prices, fine, I can deal with that. But when my ribs arrived and I realized they switched from 3 bone short rib racks to the much cheaper and much worse 4 bone short rib rack, I was pissed. They have half the meat, maybe even less, than their 3 rib cousins. Listen, 3 bone short ribs (also known as "Plate Short Ribs" or "Dino Ribs")come from the belly, they are very meaty and have an excellent fat to meat ratio. Their cousin, the 4 bone short rib (also known as "Chuck Short Ribs") come from the shoulder. They have much less meat, much less fat, but way too much inedible sinew fiber. The Dino Ribs are for smoking (or Barbeque as we know it) and they are delicious, even if you screw it up. The Chuck Short Ribs, however, are for braising in a liquid for a very long time because they are very tough meat and they really suck as Barbeque. To change your beef ribs to the cheaper and crappier version AND raise your prices, that is a sin against Barbeque. Now, to add insult to injury, they also cooked them via a method that I am unable to identify. There is no bark, the meat is a nauseating shade of grey, and they FAILED TO ADD ENOUGH SALT...again. Results, simply the worst piece of beef I have ever eaten. As if my pain wasn't enough, the 2 sides that I got (coleslaw and salad - I'm doing keto) were tasteless and awful. Again, not enough salt. ARE YOU PEOPLE AFRAID OF SALT? Now, the bartender was delightful, which is why they got two stars and not one. As for the food, if I could give it negative stars, I would.

Came in and they had a live band on Wednesday. The sax man was solid! Rest of the band was good too but I grew up playing the sax! Our waitress Kimberly, was great! Bubbly friendly personality. We ordered a family meal and split it among ourselves. They were out of brisket and beef ribs which was a bummer but our server was very accommodating and allowed us different options to switch out to make up for the ones they were out of. Music was good staff was friendly and food had a different variety to choose from.

BBQ was good. Tender and juicy. Mac n' Cheese was delicious. I will have to try coming during "Happy Hour".

Surprisingly amazing BBQ spot! We came here on a Saturday morning, and for some reason, there wasn't a single other customer -- which made me a bit worried at first -- but wow, the food turned out incredible! The beef ribs were juicy, tender, and full of smoky flavor. Fries were crispy, the salad was fresh, and everything tasted perfectly balanced. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the restaurant had a cozy, relaxed vibe with that classic brick-wall charm. Definitely deserves way more attention -- one of the best BBQ experiences I've had recently. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Came back again~~ This place has such a unique bar with a lot of character and style. We ordered the Family Taste Platter and it was such a great deal - under $50 and more than enough to feed four people! The slow-cooked chicken breast was incredibly tender. The baby back ribs were full of flavor and so delicious. The pizza had a thin, crispy crust with amazing aroma. The brisket was juicy, tender, and packed with smoky flavor - absolutely amazing. On top of that, the service was excellent. Our server was very warm, friendly, and patient in explaining all the options. Definitely a spot I'll come back to again - highly recommended! It's a hidden gem

This place is amazing!! Good food, good service, and awesome cozy vibes it gives once you walk in. Had the Tri-Tip and came in a very good portion with sweet potato fries and garlic bread. The Alaskan Amber beer was really good and highly recommend it!! Will definitely come back again.

I've gone to this restaurant twice now and have plans to go again tomorrow for a triple date cause it's been so mind blowingly awesome each time . The first time we went for mothers day and ordered the family platter and a side of Mac and Cheese. There was 5 of us and we had leftovers . The pricing is INSANE for the platter , so much lower than other bbq spots. We went back again for father's day just my husband and I and we ordered the 2 meat 2 sides platter (forgot what it was called ) and for context my husband is 6'2" , does cross fit and can "put it away" . We couldn't finish this platter because we ordered the beef short ribs and they are soooo huge we simply couldn't finish. We took the leftovers home and it was enough for us to have dinner and be totally stuffed AGAIN from the leftovers . I cannot emphasize enough how FAIR the prices are. I want to continue to support and introduce more friends to this place. I've heard some negative feedback from other reviews but please ignore them . From what ive heard the negative reviews were from their soft opening and they found themselves unprepared with not enough staff and not enough food I did not attend the soft opening I've only gone during normal operating hours specifically in the afternoon. Tomorrow will be my first time going during dinner and on a Friday night so I will update my review with how it goes. 10/10 I Highly recommend this place and their beef short ribs are to die for

A little sweeter than I personally prefer, but the spice balanced it out nicely and kept me going back for more. I ordered the Black Angus Bassin Burger, and that was my favorite part. It came on a soft brioche bun with caramelized onions, arugula, special sauce, and I added bacon. The burger patty itself tasted high quality, juicy, and flavorful. Everything worked together really well. The onion rings were beer battered and seriously delicious. Golden, crunchy, crispy, and packed with flavor. The fries were also fresh and really good.

This last visit was frustrating enough that we won't be rushing back. We came in just before 6:00 PM with a babysitter and a limited window. The restaurant wasn't busy, maybe five tables, but service was completely off. Our entrée took about 45 minutes. It was comped, but no one acknowledged the delay. No apology, no explanation, nothing. We also got the wrong side (fries instead of onion rings), and while it was corrected quickly, it added to the overall feeling that no one was really paying attention. The bigger issue was how absent the service felt. Our server never came back for a second round of drinks, and I had to go to the bar myself. When I mentioned it, the response was basically that the server was busy with another table, which felt dismissive given how long we had already been waiting. No one was busy. By the time food arrived, it was around 6:45 PM. The problem wasn't just the wait, it was the lack of communication or basic hospitality the entire time. I actually emailed the restaurant directly after our visit and never heard back, which is disappointing and honestly says a lot. At this point, it's hard not to feel like they just don't really care about the customer experience or about keeping people coming back. It's a shame, because the place has potential, but right now it doesn't feel like it's being taken seriously.

It proved more difficult when dealing with the owner Scott. I'll start by saying the end result was us rescheduling at the same rate that we booked & our event went well, however it wasn't without hiccups. When rescheduling, we were specifically instructed by Scott to cancel our booking in Peerspace & rebook the new date. That's when issues started. Before cancelling I mentioned how Peerspace won't refund our full amount & Scott replied that whatever isn't refunded will be credited toward the new date. That didn't happen without us constantly reaching out via text, email, & Peerspace. When you request a date on Peerspace it's pending review/approval from Blush, however it charges you immediately. Since we opted for the payment plan that required about half down & remainder later, we were waiting on our refund to book the new date. It never came. When we were finally able to have a phone call with Scott, I couldn't get one word in the entire time he was mansplaining the world of business. He was very patronizing & I swallowed my pride because we just wanted a resolve & to not lose the deposit. I asked very clearly whether he was going to uphold our agreement. He did, but under the condition that we pay the remainder of our balance upfront in good faith to them. We did & that was that. Thereafter, it was back & forth whether Chris would still be working our event which Scott said he was. Chris was the saving grace of Blush in our opinion. Customer service & how you treat people is king, so it put our hearts at ease. But not for long, since it was changed later to Jin. Getting Jin to respond was difficult. We requested a final walk through with our coordinator about a month before our event. Jin told us he wasn't feeling well & wasn't present for most of the walk through. So we asked questions via email instead. I specifically mentioned a clean facility is important to us. The place just wasn't as polished as we first saw it. He was responsive only after I'd send text follow ups. The week of, not at all. I was waiting on confirmation about our drink selection which I never got & we just hoped it would all work out the day of. Day of our coordinator arrived first. The bathrooms were clean but the bar, cocktail tables, mirror hallway, & front door were full of fingerprints and sticky as if not cleaned from a previous event. We were told there would be 2 staff & that they'd be able to help us move cocktail tables. We weren't aware one of those people would be Jin & he wasn't helpful at all. He completely ignored our coordinator & aunt, but jumped to help our DJ with the sound system. We can only conclude it's because our DJ is a man & as a same sex female couple that leaves such a bad taste in our mouths. Our coordinator & aunt ended up cleaning everything with the one rag & spray bottle he gave after we repeated asked. Coordinator, wife, son, & I moved the heavy tables/ottomans. The drinks didn't taste like our selections. But the worst part was that he started charging our guests upon arrival. My wife & I stepped away to change our clothes. We were there 1.5hrs before start time & Jin never approached us or our coordinator for our card. He also had our itinerary ahead of time and met our coordinator. FYI on top of booking fees, you're also required to use their bar service for ALL drinks alcohol/nonalcohol which is included info on Peerspace. We agreed we'd cover the required minimum of $2500 & once we reached that amount it would turn into a cash bar. Our guests approached us confused about the bar so my wife personally went to Jin & asked why people were being charged, to which he responded "I couldn't find you guys." They immediately include their tip, which we weren't aware of, so drinks totaled to about $2100 w/ the remainder being tax/tip. They continuously ran out of cups & had zero cups for the water dispensers. We were refilling used water bottles to give to the kids. My aunt & cousin were busing tables. Bartenders didn't care to stay quiet or hold drink orders during vows. Every video we have of our vows is them shaking drinks & slamming glassware. There were good things too, kinda. It wasn't communicated to us that the front bathroom was for staff only & we had a outfit change planned, so after first saying no, Jin ended up letting my wife & I use the front bathroom. Also him assisting our DJ resulted in the music going well. It's sadly overshadowed by all the other things that needed improvement. It comes down to a lack of customer service & professional decorum, because the venue itself is beautiful. We gave a final 3 STARS because everything came together. Those missing components are just so vital. A work day for them is literally someone else's most important day that they're choosing and paying to celebrate at Blush.

We were looking for a late-night spot with decent food, so I searched around and this place popped…read moreup. Mind you, this was in downtown Monrovia and I'm in Montebello, so it was about a 24-minute drive. We got there around 11:10pm and they closed at midnight on a Monday night. Parking was easy since it's in a strip center in downtown Monrovia, but I'm assuming that's because it was late. Not sure how parking is during the day. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated right away. It was a cool little spot with quite a few customers still inside, which was a good sign. The guy helping us was super nice and attentive. We ordered the Corn Cheese, Garlic Chili Chicken, Mussel Soup, fries, and two sides of steamed rice. The fries were crispy and really good. The corn cheese was delicious, I'd probably add spice to it next time. The garlic chicken was very flavorful. The mussel soup had a very strong ocean taste and could've used just a little more seasoning, but I think that's just the style of the soup since it's more of a light broth. Overall though, everything else was great, good food, good vibe, and great service.

Our waitress Ashley was friendly and really quick with our food. The rose tteokboki was as delicious as I'd expect tteokboki to be. The spicy squid stir fry was delicious and actually spicy. My brotha only wish there was more squid to veggie ratio. But the real vip was the kimchi, they use the extra fermented punchy napa, I can attack that shit all day long cant believe I forgot to take some home. Hope to be back if I ever find myself in Monrovia again

My cousin and I went after dinner and decided what the heck let's live. We really went in not knowing what to expect and ended up having a great time and meet amazing people. The bartender is a 70 year old man who walks like he can't possibly make any drinks but he certainly can and boy are they strong. So beware. The live band is amazing. It is small place but most of the men there are gentlemen and will offer you their seat. It was a great time. So if you go just be prepared, this is not your usual fancy lounge or bar.

We decided to…read moredo a "Bloody Mary Bar Crawl", and this was our second stop, but first time visit for us. Apple was "at the HELM" (behind the bar). Fun, social crowd with regulars that we met and openly welcomed us. I believe that I heard that there's live music on Friday and Saturday evenings. On street parking, or a small lot in the back, off the alley. Hours: 6:00am - 12:00am (next day), Fri-Sat 6:00am - 2:00am (next day). DRINKS, but NO FOOD: A couple Bloody Mary's (two with horseradish, one regular) which were well made. We also tried an Old Fashioned, an Espresso Martini, a Modelo Especial, and a Michelob Ultra. One round was picked up by regular patron but talk about reasonable prices. Our whole tab was only $28. I couldn't believe it. They don't serve food, but you're welcome to bring in whatever you'd like. Claro's Italian Market is across the street, and we heard that many regulars pick up something there and bring it over. Thanks Apple, Paul, Ozzy, and Christy for making our visit a memorable one. If you haven't been here before, definitely worth stopping in.

I think it's like pineapple juice and two choices of rum. Tasted amazing. The two bartenders are nice, very conversational. I can see why they get regular bar attendees. This bar isn't bad. We even got dressed up because the vibe online felt fancy and elevated. Unfortunately, the experience was very different in person. The space is extremely small and overcrowded, to the point where you can barely move, let alone order a drink. We squeezed our way toward the back just to find a little breathing room, but it was constant "excuse me" in every direction. With how packed it was, the bartenders seemed to be moving at a slow pace with little sense of urgency, which made getting to the bar nearly impossible. After waiting about 10 minutes without being able to place an order, we ended up leaving. It was disappointing, especially after driving out excited to try the drinks we saw online. The photos make the space feel much bigger and more relaxed than it actually is, which created a very different expectation. Overall, the experience didn't live up to the hype and first impressions fell flat.
