My daughter lives a few minutes from this dog park. We've been coming here with her and her two dogs (1 year and 5 months) in the evenings and I really like the park and the people and dogs that come here. Fortunately, so far, the dogs get along and people respect the park and other visitors. When we enter, at least one dog comes up to us. I love that. There are buckets for water, chairs, bench, table, hose for filling the water buckets, and a couple balls that the dogs share. This is definitely our go-to neighborhood dog park. read more

My new Service Animal Elvis has been responding to training very well with Two trips to the dog park each day for his reward. Consequently he acts just like a regular Labrador when his best is off. And the basin has given me the opportunity to socialize him much more than my previous SA ‍. There are some great dog parents here at the basin that are worth getting to know. read more

I have a one year old maltipoo that's very sweet and just likes to run and play fetch. She's a service dog. I was a big fan of this park until i became increasingly aware that the owners DO NOT watch their dogs. If you visit, expect a huge pack of the alphas in the park to bombard you at the gate, rush up on your dog and bully them, and u can see the owners sitting in the lawn chairs not doing a damn thing about it or across the park at a way too far distance to even recall their dog (IF they would even listen). This is NOT appropriate. It's common courtesy at dog parks and your responsibility as a dog owner to watch your dog and restrain them from the gate if need be. This is asking for a dog fight letting the dogs run up to the gate like that and bully other dogs and owners walking in the park. So sad because it is a great space. I wish it wasn't this way ... to provide my own experience, the last time I went (and the final time) me n suki were greeted at the gate by about 4 huskies, 2 German shepherd, a Great Dane aka a horse and 2-3 other big dogs. We barely got in the gate and they started bullying my suki, sniffing her and showing agression. I commanded the dogs to back off and a few listened but the most aggressive ones did not. I also shouted to the owners to get their dogs. The owners did not appear to be paying attention. I was afraid for my sukis life, and we were only 7 feet down the walkway from the gate. I wound up having a full blown panic attack while trying to take my service dog to the dog park for a fun day. This was traumatizing for me and suki. The visit prior to this, a woman told me that her 3 big breed dogs had recently killed a squirrel at the park, and their prey instincts were high. She told another dog owner it wasn't safe for her to let her brown chihuahua off leash because her dogs would likely attack it and kill it if they saw it run bc the dog looks like a squirrel. Excuse me?? Don't bring your killer dogs to the dog park then?? How is this ok??? Theres a few older gentlemen with sweet big dogs and they are regulars. They are harmless and actually really sweet. I'm going to miss going there bc suki really did like some of the other regulars there. I took her to Todd Beamer dog park instead over by Champlain and Perrin area and we liked it so we have gone one more time. When we went, suki was defensive and didn't let other dogs get close ... she was never like this before. My poor baby is scared. And I'm scared for her. Trying to brainstorm ways how I can take her out for exercise and keep her safe from other dogs and their irresponsible owners. read more

Cool "dog" park. There were plastic chairs, water buckets and dog pools scattered around the park. There is a rake and pan you can use to scoop your dogs waste instead of using waste bags. I didn't step on dog waste which means that the park is adequately maintained. I appreciate the grass. Compared to Woodward park, it's much harder for me to take control of my dog because of the fact that it's a basin, I'd have to trek a hill to get to my dog to get to him in a timely manner. So if you're dog likes to ignore you from time to time, you'll need to be ready to walk/run up and downhill at this park. Also, if you have small children, don't bring them inside, this is a dog park, not a playground. Most dogs don't care if you're nimble, or fragile, if they even care at all lol. It's 20 minutes away from our house so I won't be frequenting this park when there's another dog park 15 mins walking distance away from me. I would come back if I ever come back to this area. We went here early in the afternoon, not too many dogs due to the fog. The dogs we met were well mannered. It's a pretty big open space. The downside is that the two gate system isn't being used. This makes me worried about my dog's safety. The 1st gate is locked to the fence with chains, so that it can never be closed. There was a guy that frantically went in, didn't close the gate and told me that he's coming out soon?! My dog could have gotten out and ran away. I feel for him if he lost his dog but that doesnt give him the right to endanger the other dogs who were inside the park. PLEASE UNLOCK THE OTHER GATE SO WE CAN HAVE SOME PEACE OF MIND WHEN ONE JERK DECIDES TO LEAVE THE ONE DOOR OPEN. read more

Grass! It was super quiet mid afternoon on a Sunday. Wow! Like, library quiet around 3pm. Most people were super nice. As a rule, I love all dog people. Some lax owners were observed not calling their dogs from charging other new comer dogs but there are some of those in every group. Most people picked up after their pet. So important! No doggie pick up bags so bring your own bags and water. And toys. My dog loved it here but hey, she is not too picky. Most people were sitting as this is not a place to walk laps or anything. No track or walking trail for humans. But it was free to enter and well kept. Lots of street parking. The best thing about this park is that your feet/shoes are not filthy when you leave on account of the grass. For instance, when I leave any mulch park in the LA area, we all leave dirty! read more

Similar to Jessica's review below, I was a big fan of this park until my 8 month puppy was brutally attacked by a dog named Roxy on Sunday May 9, 2021. When I initially entered the dog park, Roxy's owner expressed to me that her dog kills squirrels and due to the way my dog runs, Roxy will think he's a squirrel and attack it. I stayed close to my pup and as we were walking in the far northwest corner of Furlong Field, Roxy came charging at us from across the field, viciously attacking my little pup, tossing him around with her teeth, biting him repeatedly, gnawing and piercing his skin.  I threw myself on top of my pup, picked him up and ran to toward the northeast corner of Furlong Field. Roxy's owner and her three dogs acted as if this were a regular occurrence.  They stayed in the dog park for hours after the attack and continued to play as I called the Fresno police and SPCA. I believe the problem here is Roxy's owner has never been held accountable for her negligence. The sign at the gate clearly states that in order for a dog to enter this park, the dog must not be an aggressive dog.  In addition, the owner must be in control of the dog at all times.  These are the rules as defined by the county. California law permits people whose dog was attacked by another dog to sue for damages; however Civil Code 3342 does not extend protection to dogs who are attacked and injured by other dogs. It is a strict liability statute that solely protects humans.  Rather California law classifies dogs as personal property.  Therefore, if a dog injures another dog, a property damage lawsuit may be brought forth.  Liability occurs when the owner's property (dog) is damaged as a result of defendant's negligence.  The defendant can be held legally liable if the defendant was aware of their dog's aggressive, dangerous, or vicious tendencies. Roxy's owner is 100% liable for my vet bill that evening.  In addition, Roxy's owner is liable for the depreciation of fair market value of my pure breed, treatment for trauma and time off from work. There were bystanders in the park who kindly offered to give their statement of what they saw from various vantage points in the park. Roxy's owner approached me after the attack and expressed she understands her dogs are aggressive but she doesn't have anywhere else for them to run around, as a result she feels justified in endangering the lives of other dogs in the park.  This is defined as negligence, not to mention flawed logic.  My response was, if your dog is a known killer of small animals, then you shouldn't bring it into a fenced area where small animals are known to safely congregate.  I repeated this statement three times. At the time, I did not know my rights nor did I understand the high degree of owner culpability in the state of California around punitive damages and aggressive dog behavior.  The day before this attack, there was a one year old pitbull in the AH1 basin.  The pitbull also chased my dog; however it was the way the owner handled the attack that separates a responsible owner from a negligent owner.  The pitbull's owner immediately got control of his dog, reprimanded him and put him on a lease, walked him around the basin several times on a leash before leaving the park.  After the Roxy attack, the owner continued to play with her dogs in the park, unleashed, for hours.  As a result of the owner's blatant disregard for park rules and lack of common sense, Roxy will most certainly attack again and it is solely the owner's fault. Please, I urge you, If you know anything about Roxy's owner, specifically her full name, please text me anonymously and help keep our community safe (601-600-7050).  Roxy's owner is a middle-aged female, dark hair pulled back in a low ponytail, carries a blue ball-tosser and stands about 5'6", weighing about 150-170 lbs.  She has three short haired dogs, brown in color, medium to large build. TO ROXY'S OWNER: You have no right to damage other people's property and your negligence is abhorrent. It makes me sick to my stomach that you'd endanger sweet little puppies in this way. I ask you to come forward with your identity. I plan to call the police and SPCA any time I see you at any dog park and I won't stop until you are held accountable. read more

This is a great size dog park. I only went 3 times. The last time I went a bunch of dogs charged barking and growling at my 9 year old daughter. One of the dogs was also barking at my 20 year old daughter. My kids are very well behaved and don't even try to interact with strangers or their dogs. We just want to go play with our dog. She is also so good and never aggressive at all. But I ask a lady who comes by if they are her dogs. She says yes. So I was like can you get them away. She says it's a dog park.... I was confused. So I said what does that mean. Your dogs can be aggressive. She said kids aren't allowed in dog parks. I was like my kids always go to dog parks. I don't know what you are talking about but please get your dogs away. She also said her dogs don't like kids. Then I said take them away. She then proceeds to say I don't want to be around you and your little blanks anyway. I of course had some words for her. Then I went out of the dog park. I did consider calling the police cause I was so mad. And of course I'm not going to fight some crazy lady in front of my kids. Apparently the whole dog people there are all buddies and thought it was so funny that I may be calling the police. Took my Moon girl almost everyday. And she loved it. Lots of big dogs her size to play with. We moved away from Fresno but will definitely go back to see the regulars and their dogs she loves to play with, besides the people and dogs being great, it can get muddy. It's the downfall and there are tons of flys in the summer. read more

This dog park is good. We have a Samoyed male who is fixed (Tycho) and a Husky female (Maya) also fixed. Tycho runs up to smell every dog who walks through the gate. He's a talker but means no harm. Sammy's are known for being really vocal. The only problem we have had at the park is the drug addict guy who drives a maroon minivan who has 3 Pit Bulls who are vicious. The man himself is vicious and drives by yelling obscenities at the people in the dog park because he knows his Pit Bulls are dangerous ( several dogs have been attacked by them) and shouldn't be in the park with other dogs. This man is dangerous in my opinion. He once got ahold of a key to the side entrance gate and would squat in the park. I reported him and the key was taken away from him. Last week SOMEONE had vandalized the front gate so it could not be closed properly. I suspect it was this man who did it. He seems to think he owns the park. He's mentally unstable. I wish he would be banned completely from the park. read more

There were normally 2-3 other dogs if any at all when I was here, which is ok & never had any issues with unruly dogs & there ignorant owners. I just recently moved to the Central Valley from San Francisco, and finding a good dog park is tough. But I came across this place and honestly it's everything I dreamed for in a dog park for my pups. They love it so much! Just a big gated field where dogs can play with other happy dogs, independent dogs try and chase squirrels and just calm dogs that just like to socialize with everyone! You may come across a few owners that are still working on getting their dog to behave more obedient, but other owners please don't be rude to anyone it takes away the fun of bringing your happy dogs to this happy park, let the owners learn their mistake and if you have to say something say it with kindness and hopefully a respectful response. A great dog park! Have to watch out for a white overweight woman in her 40-50 who lets her little dog ferociously bark at other dogs. The dog is no challenge but can easily start other bigger dogs to become aggressive. Summertime they fill large buckets and little pools up with water. Make sure all your dogs are up on their shots. The water can be easily contaminated with bacteria and deseasies from other dogs. read more

Brought my dog here twice, it's a big beautiful park but both times it had some large aggressive dogs. My smaller dog has no issues with larger dogs, he loves playing with them but there were two white bull dogs and a German Shepard that got aggressive and nipped him. It made me really uneasy and afraid something more intense would happen. I don't think I'll be back here again to keep my dog out of the hospital. If your dog isn't chill, don't bring them to the dog park where they can attack other dogs, that's not cool at all!!! read more

Be careful there today ... just as I arrived, 2 groups of people were leaving FAST ... one of their dogs had just been bitten in the eye by an aggressive dog whose owner was not caring one bit to control his aggressive dog's behavior constantly bothering their dogs and finally biting the one in the eye.... There had been an outbreak of Leptospirosis specifically at this dog park and there were no warning signs or notifications of any kind. We had to hear it from a lady at the park. Luckily our dog had been vaccinated but we still had to be extra watchful for a couple weeks to be certain. Totally irresponsible and we definitely will not be brining our puppy back. read more

I think I should probably clarify and update my last review. My dog was attacked because there is no real form of management for the park and an owner that had his dog for less than a month brought his dog to the dog park and took out the treats and his dog attacked my dog over food and initially this injury wasn't too severe but come to find out he could have lost his eye and he could still potentially suffer permanent nerve damage due to the deepness, length, and location of the bite. The owner refused to compensate medical charges and I was unable to get the care he needed due to financial constraints. This park seems like it's managed by a group of individuals that say they care about other dogs but what seems to me is that it's a group of people that have nothing better to do than think they know everything there is to know about dogs because they believe they are experts when they are the blind following the blind. I'm glad they had an expert opinion on the severity of my dog's injuries and believe that the excuse of "dogs will be dogs" overrides a medical expert's opinion. The appropriate paperwork has been filed and the dog that injured my dog will have a record so if he ever bites another animal or person there's going to be problems that come from someone that WILL want his money. read more

I am the Dog Ma of the Husky that was bitten. Our dog is so well liked that other people commented how much they missed him when we quaranteed him from the park for his safety and to allow the injury to heal. We will not return to AH1 dog park because of non-neutered dogs and selfish owners. We have gone to a wonderful Temper tested dog park at Valley Pet. Must be altered and had all their shots and are tested for aggression. Good luck to all you trusting people at AH1. I hope your dogs are not injured or killed because no one will stand by you. read more
