we had a great time at basmati's! we had the pleasure of being served by jesse. he was kind, professional, and quick with service. we ordered the calamari for appetizer and it's one of the best calamari's i've ever had! crispy, tender, and well seasoned. jesse recommended a non alcoholic lychee drink which was so refreshing for the heat. we also had a caesar salad and it's not a traditional dressing but it was not really my favorite but i still enjoyed it. and the egg drop soup had lumps of crab in it which made it even better! for mains, we had the filet and it was cooked perfectly and the sauces/sides were a great complement. we also ordered their special sushi roll for the night which was a tiger prawn tempura roll with tuna on top. very delicious and filling. overall, we had a great experience at basmati's and jesse made it better! we'd definitely recommend to anyone visiting to try it out! read more

Recommendations: Crab Cake Chinese Barbecue Duck We visited Basmati's Asian Cuisine on a Thursday night with a group of six to celebrate Chinese New Year. The atmosphere felt welcoming from the moment we arrived, and the staff made the evening special. We started with the Basmati's Pu-Pu Platter, which is a sampling of dumplings, spring rolls, and crab cake. The standout item was definitely the crab cake. It was full of seafood flavoured, while the dumplings and spring rolls were more standard. If you want to try something special, I would recommend ordering the crab cake on its own instead. Next, we had the Firecracker Grouper, a tempura-fried grouper served with a spicy sweet and sour sauce. The fish itself was fresh and nicely fried, but the sauce did not quite work for me. It lacked sweetness and did not enhance the flavor of the fish. Compared to the crab cake, this dish did not have a wow factor. The Chinese Barbecue Duck was a highlight. The duck breast was served on top of a scallion tempura pancake, which made the dish feel creative and innovative. Both the duck and the pancake tasted great. The plating of all the dishes was top notch, and our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu. We ate dinner at Basmati's on Friday evening. The food and service were very good. The restaurant is located on the western end of 30-A. The Red Thai Curry Shrimp were fantastic! The sushi rolls were enjoyed by all. We really liked the edamame and spring rolls as appetizers. They have good wine, beer, and liquor selections. We ordered a bottle of Pinot Grigio which was perfect with our dishes. We paid around $55 per person. The only negative was a leak from the dining room ceiling; however, we had experienced a lot of rain in the area on that day. It didn't affect our dining; therefore, no harm-no foul. read more

We tried this restaurant for the first time for dinner. Make sure to make reservations because it gets busy fast. The ambiance is nice inside but limited seating. They have covered patio seating, which is better and we preferred that. We started with their vegetable spring rolls, volcano sushi rolls and also tried their red curry with chicken and their firecracker grouper. Sushi and spring rolls were delicious. Unfortunately the Thai chicken was over cooked so it was hard to chew. I sent that back and they replaced it with Thai shrimp, which was a lot better. We went with seafood starting with Pu Pu appetizer that included yummy crab cake, veg spring roll, and dumpling. We also had tuna and yellowtail nigiri that was delicious. For dinner I had the firecracker grouper with rice and it was special. Service was prompt and friendly. Reservations highly recommended. I love the old cottage turned into a Viet restaurant. Perfect ambiance for this restaurant. We stopped in the night before and they were busy so we made inside reservation for the next night. Our service was good overall, although I did ask for a half order of my entree since it was offered as an option and received a full order. The food was average. Out of our party of 4, all of us thought the food was bland and average. Ambience: The restaurant is dated and dark on the inside. I think it could use an update. Polite, consistent, and showing up at the right times knowing they were there to provide us a wonderful experience (but they weren't there to make friends with us). The sashimi salad is a mix of seaweed and cucumber salads with four pieces of maki over the top. This delivered (hard not to)... and I wonder what that dish would be like with poke style fish vs. slices? We ordered the special - the red snapper - which was prepared perfectly: panko on both sides with a light saute, served over four massive asparagus and some accompanying sauce on the plate (not over the fish, as it should be). This was a great dish. The disappointment was the shrimp fried rice, surprisingly. Overly soy sauced and a bit salty, though the portion was incredible with different veggies, some sausage, etc. Simply, messing up Fried Rice in a Japanese place was, in a word, 残念な Without drinks and including tip & tax we were just under $200, so the evening wasn't cheap. Excellent all around! It's a small place inside, but extremely comfortable. Clearly an Asian theme abounds and if they used Feng Shui, it worked. Feels relatively peaceful. It's a little loud because it's small, but not too bad. Yes, there was a loud little kid, but not the restaurant's fault. Service was prompt and very friendly. Our server was very sweet and she was always smiling. Another male server stopped by to help and was fantastic, bringing us more rice and red curry sauce. Service is a ten here. The food was excellent. Everything! So was the jasmine tea and the alcohol beverages we ordered. We started with a Res Dragon sushi role. It was beautiful and delicious! Check out the photo. I had the Red Curry Shrimp with eggplant. It was amazing! Huge butterflied shrimp, a wide but thin piece of grilled eggplant all covered in a delicious creamy red curry sauce with a perfect stack of white dried rice noodles on top. Check out the photos! Came here on a rainy Monday and arrived right at 5 with a group of 6 people. Place is pretty cool atmosphere wise and has some asian flare to it. We were seated quickly and our server was pretty good. Food took about 45 minutes to come out and she did apologize for the wait which was appreciated! The food: We had 3 different sushi rolls Red Dragon: Packed a lot of flavor when dipped in soy sauce Spicy Crunchy Shrimp: Classic crunchy shrimp roll with a pretty mellow shrimp taste Feeling Frisky: The basil leaves and the basil in the roll was a bit too much for my wife and I. While visiting in the 30A area, i took a chance and decided to try Basmati's. The outside aesthetic matches the inside - some dark wood accents accompanied by dimmer lighting four good conversation. The noise level was average as it was during peak dinner time. There are ample city areas both within and outside. The restaurant. In case you want to enjoy the evening breeze. And while the staff were courteous, they didn't really hit the mark when it comes to genuine service. It was more about taking your order, executing the order, bringing you your tab, and that's it. On to the dining, which included more meals then sushi, sashimi and nigiri - my order being comprised of seaweed salad, a couple of sushi rolls, hot green tea and some dessert to go. The seaweed salad was on par as with any other restaurant. And while the sushi was served quickly, there was no WOW factor that really stood out in terms of flavor or plating/artistry - which is half the fun of dining out for sushi in the first place. Nevertheless the food was good. I will say I was quite delighted with the Yuzu Pie, which is similar to key lime, but not as tart. I would definitely recommend getting that as dessert. I enjoyed Basmati's. It's an upscale Asian restaurant that has a smaller, but pretty solid menu that has lots of seafood options as well as other diverse options like duck and lamb. I ordered the red snapper which was very good and sampled the other dishes around the table at my dinner party. The pork was good and the fried rice is huge. They give you a table side of rice which is great as my meal didn't have a carb included so I was worried about not feeling full. They made good cocktails as well and the martini I ordered had tasty blue cheese olives. The only thing I didn't like is they gave us one check for 4 which is too much of an assumption when it was two couples. I'm sure they would have fixed it but the assumption should have been the opposite. read more

Basmati's was recommended to us by a few folks so we figured we'd check it out. I'll mention I'd give it 3.5 stars if there was an option to do so. First, there's plenty of gravel parking out front and we had zero issues finding a spot for our 5 pm reso on a Saturday. We weren't sure if they took walk ins but it's a fairly large place with outdoor and indoor seating and you'll be fine without a reservation IMO. Next, we were quickly greeted and ordered a bottle of wine and some sushi as an app. Jesse was our server and he was knowledgeable, friendly and prompt. Of the two rolls we ordered, the Red Dragon was above the rest hands down. It's not on the menu so be sure to ask! We also tried Jesse's roll and a Rainbow roll which were a bit messy looking and taste was so so. I ordered the red snapper entree on asparagus which was cooked well and the sauce it was in was delish. The sticky rice side... wow, it was the best I've had easily. My Husband ordered a Caesar salad and sushi - his favorite was the Caesar which was a decent size and the sesame seeds on top were a nice change to an otherwise standard salad. I would have offered more stars if the sushi was better prepared (different sizes and some fell apart) and had more flavor as well as silencing the phone ringing over the speaker throughout the meal. Was able to a reservation the day before without issue. Interestingly, the menu contains no basmati rice, but Jasmine rice. And they do not have mango sticky rice which was a bummer. Overall, the lamb chops were well seasoned. Duck did not have a gamey taste, but was in the sweeter side. The house sautéed vegetables were overdone and too sweet. It was served under the duck and had become very soggy. Had a mock tail consisting of pomegranate which was good. Ambiance is nice inside and patio looked nice a as well. Incredible! Start to finish. First off the server, Ica was truly one of the best servers we have had. So sweet, personable, attentive. Can't say enough good things. Outstanding service. We sat on their screened in patio that was lovely. The food was DELISH. We are locals and had never been & can't wait to go back. We had salmon nigiri, the squid (calamari) & gyoza for appetizers. Nicely paired soft curries with grouper, snapper, salmon, shrimp and all the land lovers options as well. I highly recommend the panko snapper with curry, really nice dish. The dessert banana spring roll with caramel is quite delicious and a good cap on a great meal. Service is prompt and courteous without pretense. Ceiling fans are on and an occasional breeze makes the outdoor seating tolerable. So I ordered the coolest drink I could think of and got a glass of champagne. So refreshing. We ordered an appetizer, sushi roll, entree and three alcoholic beverages, all under $100 for two people. Tip you waiters 20% people, come on! Pictures do no justice. Everything on the menu is great. Luckily Basmati's was happy to accommodate us!
