full disclosure: i've lived in the area for 6 years, have always heard about domo izakaya being the spot to get sushi, but admittedly never went until recently. i was in the destin area and finally decided to drop by on the way home. WHY DID I WAIT SO LONG TO COME HERE?! and because i have so much time to make up for, i came again less than two weeks later and brought my daughter so she could experience the amazingness. it's a small restaurant like the cafe in FWB, but there's no wait! the staff and service is great!! first time i ordered the domo chashu black ramen with spice and the ragin godzilla roll. it was so much food for me i had to take it home. the flavor in the broth with the subtle spice was just incredible. and the chashu pork was literally out of this world good. the way it was seared gave it such a depth of flavor that isn't common with that kind of pork in ramen. at least not anywhere i've been. the sushi roll was one of my favorites ive ever had. i brought my kid here a week later because i wanted AND NEEDED that ramen again. it might've been even better the second time. idk. i finished it all because i didn't get a roll with it. my daughter got the techno roll and was in sushi heaven. for the record, she's 8 yrs old. techno roll is a cucumber roll with raw fish, roe, and micro greens, and she ate almost the entire thing minus a couple pieces. she loved it. i'm raising a foodie so don't underestimate her taste buds. you need to come here for GREAT sushi and ramen when in the Destin area. i'm already drooling thinking about coming back for the ramen. read more

Stopped by for dinner on our last night in Destin and the place was popping! We managed to snag on the last two tables, and the restaurant stayed busy while we were there. They must have been busy the entire day as they were out of some items (like waygu! =/). Service was good, especially with how busy it was. Food was delicious- would definitely head back here if we were ever in Destin again. The rolls here are a must, both regular and specialty. Favs included the Ragin Godzilla and Tornado rolls. Came for weeknight dinner with the hubby & our 3 kiddos & we LOVED it! Service was wonderful. We ordered a bunch of different apps & rolls, but these were the most memorable for us... -Creamy shrimp: crispy & tossed in a slightly sweet mayo sauce. -Seaweed salad: standard seaweed salad but very generous portion! -Chashu ramen: one Ramen fed 3 kids. They loved it. Great flavor & noodles. Pork was melt-in-your-mouth tender. -Destin roll: absolute favorite roll we tried! Great flavors & loved the crab meat. It was our last night in Destin, and we chose Domo Izakaya for dinner after exploring the area. We found parking easily, and upon entering, the restaurant's ambiance was very positive. We were seated at our tables and greeted by the server, Jazz, who brought us the menus. After reviewing the menu, we ordered Edamame, Karaage Chicken, Thai Tea, Deja Vu Roll, Domo Roll, Avocado Roll, Alaskan Roll and DOMO Chicken Ramen. Our order included Thai Tea, Edamame, and Karaage Chicken. The Thai Tea was a refreshing start to our dinner, and the Karaage Chicken was delicious, easily one of the best we've had. We got the rest of the rolls Deja Vu Roll, the Avocado Roll, and the Alaskan Roll. The sushi rolls were delicious - everyone in our group really enjoyed them. We got DOMO Chicken Ramen and Domo Roll. The ramen was delicious and well-prepared with chicken. The Domo Roll was a highlight of the night and one of the best sushi rolls we've had. After dinner, we ordered the Yuzu Creme Brulee, and it arrived in just 10 minutes. It was delicious, and the cherry on top made for a perfect ending to our delightful meal at Domo Izakaya. read more

We tried several different things; sushi, gyoza, and seaweed salad. All really tasty. Reasonable price. They do have some kind of weird service fee, but I'd seen that comment before so I wasn't surprised. I do wish they'd just raise their prices and get rid of that fee. read more

The service SUCK. They took our drink order then took the server about 20 mins to take our food order. There was only 3 other table in the restaurant. Not busy at all. Then they bought out the kids ramen first and the rest of the food took about 30mins to come out. The Kids ramen was $10 fyi. Never seen the waitress came back to ask about our food or refills. Yall, this was one of the best sushi rolls ever. I was going between two rolls, and the server suggested the Deja Vu roll. She also mentioned it's one of their more popular rolls, and I understand why! All of the flavors and textures work together so nicely. I also enjoy my nigiri. The presentation was not what I expected because I couldn't see the rice, but it was there covered by the spicy salmon and wrapped by seaweed. I would order that again. The vibe of the restaurant is pretty cool also. The only negative to my experience was that they didn't allow my lunch mates to order a kids sized ramen bowl. Best food in Destin. Even their FwB location is awesome but this place blows us away each time and we order A LOT of food I mean we are big backin it when we head in here. Today we got ramen, stir fry noodles, the cucumber salad, the soy garlic fried chicken, the katsu kids platter, the tempura sweet shrimp and a saki mojito. First thing that came out was the drink and was literally the best mojito I've ever had. The food was absolutely delicious even down to the katsu kids platter. We went to Domo Izakaya for the Ramen but we also got the Bun. Bun appetizer was great! 10/10 The Goku Ramen was also great! 8/10 The Domo Chicken Ramen not so great 3/10 I'll start out with the bad. The Domo Chicken Ramen is let down by a prepackaged chicken they add. It looks and tastes exactly like it sounds. Like chicken lunch meat you get from a package that's already precooked. Awful flavor and really makes this Ramen dish horrible. Being truthful we told our waitress and she was like ya it's preference but confirmed that it's 100% pre packaged chicken and they just heat it up. I thought she would offer something else after telling us that but she smiled and basically said, " Better luck next time". The Goku Ramen was stellar, great broth with a little spice and fall of the bone tender meat. They even give you a dipping sauce for the meat. It's great but pricey at $32 and I only got 4 medium chunks. It doesn't have much veggies or extras. It's broth, meat, corn and noodles. That's it. The bun was the best bang for your buck. $5 but you only get one and it's lightly flavored but in all the best ways. Overall experience was a 6/10. Food was hit and miss. Confirming the quality of one meal by staff but not offering to provide a better dish was a huge miss on their part. I'll return for a follow up visit but initial impression is mixed. While the food wasn't bad, the service left a lot to be desired. It took us about 10-15 minutes to be seated due to the busy crowd. Once we were seated and ordered our food, it took almost an hour for our food to come out, most likely due to being understaffed as I only saw one or two servers waiting the entire restaurant. They need to do a better job with this because that wait time for our food was way too long. Food wise I got the Black Tonkotsu ramen which was actually pretty good, though the portion could've been bigger. I left still feeling hungry. Overall it's not a bad spot to check out if you want Asian food in Destin, but be aware of their wait times and lack of staff members. read more
