Great place to wander and spend an afternoon just looking at boats and the latest outdoor gear! There were lots of kid friendly things for your kids and grandchildren. Bowling. Archery. Critters (stuffed of course) displayed or peeking from shelves and corners. Similar to the 'other big box' sporting goods place in Kyle but nice to have in Round Rock. You honestly could spend a day here if you love gear and gadgets. Everything you need for camping, hiking, fishing. We were caught unprepared during the Round Rock 2015 Memorial Day power outage - so we were looking for weather radio and some better emergency lighting. If I could give zero stars I would. We went to Uncle Bucks for bowling and food after we purchased Groupons. We have done this several times for multiple different offers and have always had a superb experience. We've had zero issues until today. First off, our first server said he had to split our food credit between two checks because he couldn't apply it all to one check. I thought that was weird, but then realized he had been switched sections and most likely wanted us to cash out for tip instead of transferring our ticket. Secondly and most importantly, I'd like to report that my 8 year old son was outside the establishment and was attacked by bees. He was stung once near the actual eye and three times on his right arm. This was his first time being stung and thank God he is not allergic but the response to this situation was less then acceptable. The staff said that they had sprayed today which actually is not correct because all of the hives were still active with live bees. To keep it into perspective we counted at least ten separate active hives. I then proceeded to go into the Bass Pro Shops to hopefully get some Benadryl since we do live 30 minutes away and was told they didn't offer that. Is no one certified in first aid for this type of situation. This could have been a life threatening situation and no one was able to help if the need arose. Anyone with a BEE allergy, please AVOID! I will be filing a formal complaint for the relaxed manner in which this issue was handled. read more

I have visited this bass pro a few times previously each time was not a great experience but wasn't terrible, however customer service has always lacked but They usually have the items I need in stock. However this time I walked in I was greeted by one of the female associates on the floor. But when I approached the firearm area where I was going to make a purchase the rep would not even look at me. I asked for assistance and his reply was Yeah still mind you he would not even look in my direction. I got the attention of another rep who happened to be working with a customer however he asked the guy who I first attempted to speak with to assist. He came over and still not once did he look in my direction while I was inquiring about the firearms he spoke looking off in the distance and only replied with one word responses. It's a fun place to spend a weekend day checking out the boats and ATV's and all the other stuff I'll buy when I win the lottery. The taxidermy work on the animals is really good and It's fun to pose with all the critters. I like their BBQ and camping cookware and one day I'll actually use it in the wilderness as intended, rather than my back yard. They have all kinds of cool gifts for the outdoor enthusiast in your life. They have a good selection of hunting and fishing gear, naturally. I had just talked with the gentleman at the gun counter and had made arrangements to order something that will work for hunting season. All I had to do was return a present that was given to my wife. The 2 guys working the service counter worked hard to return the item, a pair of rain pants. We almost got done but a manager came in and said we can not return the item for what it was paid for. We could only return it for the "sales" price now. $7. I will not do any business with Bass Pro Shop now. The $700 rifle I was going to buy will be bought at another shop. While the fishing rods and the camping gear are really attractive for window shopping, the main attraction we come for is the bowling alley decorated with cool hanging sharks and lighting display that is done very well. They have about 10 or so lanes with large screens in the background if you are that sports junkie who needs somethin somethin with your bowling and just rolling balls down a lane isn't your thing. There is bar right in the middle of the 2 sections allowing you to drown your sorrows with a gin and tonic or a deep eddy shot. Upbeat facility, chill place, will visit again. read more

I live near this BPS and shop there regularly. Today I was walking through and was approached by "Farron" who sells their time share product. He aggressively approached asking if I was interested, and I politely declined, explaining I work a lot. He then mentioned "well you are off today (Labor Day) so you must get some time off" - again, I mentioned I work a lot, and wasn't interested. Then he asked what I did, and I attempted to answer him before he rudely cut me off by exclaiming "you are a recruiter?" And laughing hysterically. Point is, insulting my profession (may be funny to you Farron, but I'm well in the six figures, you are the one slinging timeshares buddy. You are one career decision away from Herbalife) isn't exactly going to get me to buy your timeshare. I complained to the store manager who explained the timeshare crew has been nothing but problems. I won't go back for a bit. Nobody speaks to me like that at Academy. If the man who owns the store lets this continue I will boycott entirely. read more

Let's face it, Bass Pro Shops is definitely the epitome of the sportsman outdoorsy style store. I mean they have everything from snack foods to $50k sport boats and everything in between. If you need something for any outdoor enthusiast, this is the store for you! Here are some of the bullet points for you: -They have a huge selection of clothing for everyone in the family for all outdoorsy activities including camping, hunting, fishing, and even regular everyday clothes. Lots of brands from high to low. If you need something specific, chances are they have it here for you. -Everything has a sample out for you to touch and try out. This is awesome because something's you need to hold in your hand to see if you really like it. They have everything out for you to touch from reels to BBQs to ATVs to check out. -If you are into guns or archery, they have a huge selection of items to choose from. -So many snack foods! If you like 20 types of jerky, a dozen flavors of salt water taffy, moon pies, candies of all sorts, and seasonings for everything. It is fun finding new things to snack on or new hot sauces to burn my mouth in. Fun! -The staff is friendly and helpful. It seems everyone that works here is super nice and friendly. No one is pushy, but they are always nearby if you have a question or need help. -Bass Pro does a ton of fun stuff for kids. They do an awesome Christmas Village with all sorts of activities. They also do things throughout the year to bring your kids to to have some fun. It's nice and fun! -There's a giant aquarium of fresh water fish in the middle of the store. Kid approved and loved! -They have a restaurant right next door and connected to the store. It's an "underwater" themed place and fun to go with kids. -They have an awesome rewards program. He's an addict, what can I say. -If I wasn't from Vegas where Bass Pro has their flagship store, I would rate this 5 stars hands down. This store is huge and plenty of merchandise to see. Only in the Midwest would they have these things. We're kind of jealous. I'm not a huge fan of camouflage, but when there's a plethora of it and it's own section, I'm intrigued. I got to hold a crossbow which was displayed oh so nicely. Beautiful store. My family and I were passing thru from another State in our RV. We had some errands to run in Austin and wanted to check out the store. Came and asked the manager if they allowed RVs overnight. Many stores do. Without even a care Wendy said no. Of course they have that right, but what a lousy way to win the business of sportsman. She did not even bother with an explanation. We left without spending a dime. Cabalas will be much more welcoming. Even WalMart. I was disappointed. I have been looking to buy some binoculars. I had in mind which ones I wanted to get. Walked to the optics counter there was a salesman behind the counter. Found the binoculars I wanted but the guy behind the counter had disappeared. I waited for 5 minutes or so. He came back and said "I'll be right with you sir" then proceeded to fiddle with a sign on a display for a few minutes at which point I gave up and left. Wow this place makes me want to take up hunting, camping, fishing, and working on cars (I don't know what that last one is about other than just another manly past time). Drove up to Round Rock because the girl had bought me a jacket a little too big for Christmas (Yup took me almost a year to return it). Mom was with me so I didn't get to look around too much but from what I saw it was like Disney World meet the Outdoorsman. Like a giant playground for men who do manly things. Anyway back to the return. Was waiting in line to return my gear behind some yuppies doing I don't know what. I'm not sure why they were there other than to take up space and time. I should mention I'm of course dreading trying to return this since I didn't have a receipt. An employee who was not working the service desk offered to hold onto the coat while I picked out another one. So into the great unknown I trekked. Easily found the men's department, easily found the coats and found one pretty close to what I had. Now comes the moment of truth, the moment I know they scan that barcode and I find out it's not the same item and they tell me it's on clearance and I only get $30 for this $90 coat and I'm going to be ship out of luck. And..... the service desk associate is new and needs some assistance. Why? Why are you dragging out the inevitable bad news? Service desk senior associate? supervisor? all around super girl? comes over. She tells the newb, "Do this, that and the other thing." And then to me,"Sir sign here." ????? "That's it? Umm is there a mistake? What about the hassle? Is this a trick? Take it. Take it and get out of here now before they realize their mistake! Did I just procrastinate almost a year and a good thing happened? Get out now," my inner monologue went on. "Thank you and have a nice day." Fun place to take the kids! I enjoyed bowling there and so did they. The only complaints I have is the pin bar kept getting stuck so I kept losing time on my game. The lady was nice enough to add 5 min , but again the pin bar kept getting stuck. The walls are all painted , and it definitely has the "Fish Bowl" theme. The chairs are actually chairs that go on boats for deep sea fishing , configured with holders for fishing poles ,which was quite neat to see. I'm from the east coast so it gave me that feel I was somewhere over there. After we were done bowling , we did some shopping at the Bass Pro Shops right next door. So parents, great place for kids! Recently I came across a great opportunity to purchase a 2002 Tracker Tahoe 234. After much research I found this to be a quality boat with great ratings. I also found that Bass Pro Shops was a primary vendor for Tracker. The boat I was going to purchase was kept in a slip at a lake in a different city than me. Needless to say I needed to find an appropriate trailer to put the boat on. Logic predicts that I go to the dealer and they might have one to purchase or at least advise what kind i need and/or where to start looking. Sadly this was not at all the case. I walked into the Round Rock Bass Pro Shop and after walking around the boats as I wanted to see what the new models looked like for about 20 minutes the two people standing at the kiosk that said Tracker on it did not even acknowledge that i was there. I approached them and let them know that I am purchasing a 2002 model. The immediate look on their face was disdain. I then proceeded to ask if they knew of what kind of trailer I needed to look for. The response I got was "well... we custom build each trailer for the boat. So the best I could advise is that you get a custom one built for it". that was it. No resources, Numbers or contacts. It felt very much like even though the store was virtually empty that they didn't have the time to even deal with me if I wasn't there to buy a new boat. It really shows something when a company is not interested in supporting or helping people that have interest in or own their brand of product once it has been used. I for one will not choose Tracker when I decide to upgrade my boat in a couple of years and that's sad because due to the research I have done it seems that the brand itself is a great one. I just have no intention in investing any more money into a brand that wont support me after a couple of years. Now all that should not reflect a one star on Bass Pro Shops on its own. So I decided to walk around the rest of the shop while I look up trailer options on my phone (I found out there are many adjustable trailers out there that would work by the way} upon walking around the store full of about 10 customers and aprox 25 employees. I was only approached twice with "you doing alright" which to me felt like they were simply going through the motions. My response will always be "i'm fine" . They really need to train their staff to learn how to engage customers. I live much closer to Cabela's and I am very glad that I do because every time I go there it really feels like they care that I am there. read more

Most BPSs are two stories with hunting on one level and fishing on the other level to help with crowd control. However, this one is one level only and it makes for an extremely crowded store. Bass Pro Shops is a very kid- and family-friendly venue. The aquarium is cool, the restaurant is surprisingly well done, and while the bowling lanes aren't pro quality they are perfectly fine for what they are. On the retail side, they have a pretty huge selection. The prices range from reasonable to outlandish. Clearance stuff is a joke- their idea of a sale and mine are two different things. There are no deals to be had at Bass Pro- you're going for the experience and the selection, and the ability to buy something right now. And that's fine. Guns? Ha, if you pay retail for a gun, good luck with that. The thing that makes me cringe about BPS is the customer service. If I'm going to pay full retail, it would be nice to interact with somet great CS folks. Well don't hold your breath for that at BPS. At checkout, it's high pressure for rewards cards, branded credit cards, your phone number (I always give them the one for the local Papa John's Pizza), and then your email address. I went Saturday and the lady was incredulous: "You don't want to save $20?!?!" I asked her if she was handing out $20 bills, and then she just looked confused and told me I needed their credit card. Thanks, but no. I'm glad we have a Bass Pro close to us, and I sincerely hope that it survives the nightmare that retail is going through right now, but I have my doubts. Management is obviously putting the squeeze on CS to wring every last drop of customer data from shoppers, and it kind of ruins the whole experience. Instead of getting better in order to survive, retail businesses are just getting more aggressive. If anyone from BPS is reading this, I say be careful. What you're doing may very well prove counter-productive to what you are attempting to accomplish. read more

Nice store but the help seems more interested in talking to each other. I went to the store to buy a new pistol. I could not get anyone to wait on me. There were three of them standing around just talking to each other. Maybe 4:00 pm on a Tuesday is the wrong day to buy a gun. What's sad is this is the third time they have done this to me when I am trying to make a big ticket purchase. I couldn't get anyone to wait on me for a gun safe or the last Sig I purchased. It's strange but I always get help with shirts, shoes and pants. Just the big ticket guys are always clustered together talking and ignoring the customers. I was treated more rudely at this Bass Pro Shop handgun counter than I have ever been treated in a retail store. I was next in line to be served using their "take a number" system. The sales person walked up to me and asked how he could help me. As I was asking a question, this rude jerk actually turned away from me and walked down the counter and started helping another customer, even as that customer acknowledged that I was next. I stood there aghast and said "Really? Really?" loudly enough to be heard and still I was totally ignored. I was on the market for several expensive firearms. Bass Pro shop is an experience. We stopped in here to check it out. There is a water fall out front and a giant fish tank in the back of the store with bass and other fish. There are taxidermied animals above the floor on display as well. Great for photography. The sales people are helpful and it was a pleasant experience.
