Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

Joseph is a remarkable hairdresser! I wanted my hair dyed to a warmer color than what my hair has been growing out. It had been a year since I'd seen any hairdresser, and my curly hair desperately needed fixing. I reached out to Dylan Keith Salon in Toluca Lake for a first-time appointment, since it's in walking distance from me, and after texting back-and-forth with the receptionist on what I wanted to have done and when I could come in, they assigned me to Joseph. During the consultation with Joseph, I shared what I wanted done (warm brown with red tones or auburn & haircut), so my curls would have a more dynamic look to them. After thoughtfully listening to what I wanted, the two of us found a hair color that would look great on me (warm mocha brown base with rose gold highlights). He examined all the different areas of my hair and explained in detail the steps he would need to do to achieve the look we were going for. Having done hair for 30+ years, his depth of knowledge for the specific products he wanted to use was very reassuring, so I knew I was in expert hands. It's evident he truly cares about every detail of his work and wants everyone that sits in his salon chair to look their best, whether it's a color, cut, styling, or any other service. Joseph absolutely delivered when I came in for my appointment. After 4 hours, my hair now looks vibrant, warm, and gorgeous, both when it is naturally curly and when it's styled. The rose gold toner highlights that he did are going to continue to look nice when it fades & grows out. The cut does look a bit better now, but the original haircut was much shorter than I wanted and uneven, so more length had to be cut to fix it. In total, I lost about 5-6 inches, which was very upsetting since I been working hard to grow it out. I also expected the correction to include a finished style or blow dry, especially because I had an event afterward, but my hair was left puffy and not fully styled. I also want to be honest that I felt uncomfortable with the situation around my Yelp review. During the appointment, I felt pushed to delete my review, and the interaction felt overwhelming. I understand the salon cares about its reputation, but I believe customers should be able to share honest experiences and decide for themselves if they want to update or remove a review. I appreciate the attempt to make things right, but overall this was still a stressful experience for me. I genuinely wish I could leave three stars because I appreciate that an effort was made to correct my haircut. Unfortunately, the correction felt more like trying to minimize the original mistake than truly making things right, so I don't feel comfortable rating the experience any higher.

I asked for a French bob and showed the stylist a picture. I left with what looked like a mushroom haircut. For what I was charged, I expected a lot better. Then there was the pricing. The website advertised "Cut and Style $90." I was charged $150 because I was later told styling was a separate charge. When I questioned it, I was told there was a notice at the bottom of the mirrors saying styling was extra. I never saw that notice before or during my appointment, and I was not given an itemized receipt explaining the additional $60 charge. If styling costs an additional $60, that should be made very clear before the customer agrees to the service, not explained afterward. So, in my experience: disappointing haircut, surprising pricing, and definitely not the $150 experience I expected. A barber could have done a better job for $25. I won't be returning.

Jose was super responsive and agreed to see me later that night. My appointment was at 6, and I believe the salon closes at 7, but he stayed open nearly an hour past closing to finish up my hair! Jose never came off as impatient with how long it took to do my hair and was not frustrated by the amount of hair he had to deal with. He was awesome! I have already recommended him to numerous people and, as I said before, I can't wait to go back!

I was referred to Paul by a friend and I couldn't be happier. I've been a faithful client for a…read morefew years now and I'm amazed at how consistently I get compliments after each haircut. I love it! Paul definitely knows what he's doing and always asks if I want the regular cut or if I'm looking for something different. Apparently, he's used to working on all kinds of clientelle. A few months ago, I was a bit early to my appointment and saw an extremely well-known TV star getting her hair done with Paul. They seemed like they were old pals from the way they were speaking. Personally, I couldn't care less whether my hair stylist works on celebrities or everyday people (or both in his case), but it's a bit comforting to know that celebs trust him with their hair... Doesn't hurt. He sure isn't as expensive as you'd expect from a high level salon. I also like that there's plenty of free parking in front of his salon, and I usually follow up an appointment with a quick hop to the Trader Joe's next door. Extremely convenient.

I showed Maria a photo on her own Yelp review that she did for a client and I wanted the same bayalage/highlights. She over bleached my hair to orange and was very rough yanking and pulling with a flat comb. I asked her to be more careful and gentle and she just yells "oh hahah okay!" Like wtf I should have got up and left. The salon is poorly ventilated or the chemicals she used are not fda approved. I had to ask her to please turn on the fan because they can't open their doors due to transients outside. (Another red flags) she didn't even do the highlights to the root and left over an inch so it already looks like my hair grew out. Such a waste of money. Go somewhere else, anywhere else. Geeze even go to Ulta if you're considering here. Fml

CUSTOMERS BEWARE : YOU WILL NOT LEAVE GUARANTEED! ZERO STARS!…read more Last week my mom had the displeasure of getting her hair dyed at this establishment, and it was not a good experience. On 12/04/24, she met with Lupita and brought an inspiration picture to show her what it was she wanted. Now, anyone who gets their hair done knows that it is very unlikely your own hair will turn out exactly like the photo, but it is also the hair stylist's responsibility to let the client know what to realistically expect. This did not happen, and it wouldn't even be an issue if there was any similarity in the results to the photo. What my mom received was nothing like the photo, but there were issues before that. For one, Lupita was constantly asking what color highlights and dye she (my mom) wanted. She (my mom) kept pulling up the picture and reminding her that she wanted something like the photo. Not to mention that during the highlights, Lupita asked her if she thought her hair could handle the process. That is without a doubt her job to know. In the end, my mom left unhappy. Lupita didn't ask her if she liked her hair, and feeling unsure, she paid. After looking at it at home, she gave her a call and let her know that she felt that what she received was not what she asked for. Lupita told her she would call her back and let her know if they could fit her in (as my mom was leaving for a trip) or give her a refund. The next day my mom decided it was best to get a refund and attempt to get her hair fixed at a different salon. Lupita told her that the owner of the establishment, her sister Maria, would speak to her. Maria absolutely would not give her a refund because Lupita spent a lot of time and product on her, and she could come back on 12/06/24. This was absolutely not what my mom wanted, but out of almost $300 (a haircut was also rendered and there was no issue with this service), agreed. Before doing so, Maria told my mom that she felt like she was more upset about how much she spent rather than the results, and that she was probably used to going places that charge cheaply. That is terrible customer service. It was never about the money. It's about the services rendered. On 12/06/24, my mom returned to the salon and spent another few hours there. The results? Highlights that were slightly toned down. She told Lupita she still wasn't happy, and Lupita told her that there was nothing else she could do because she already spent enough time and product on her, and if she did anything else her hair could be damaged and she could get sued. Quite frankly, if they didn't want to give her a full refund, at least HALF was warranted, but be the judge yourselves in the photos I attached. Do yourselves a favor and take your business elsewhere.
