Basta helped me stay in my apartment. I was being evicted after my apartment fabricated a story then stared an eviction. The attorney's reviewed the evidence, listened to my story, and helped keep me calm as the other side continued to drag my name through the mud. Fortunately thier story was inconsistent because it was incorrect. Basta didn't use all of my evidence but I believe it is because they didn't need it all. It is also not just me, and my attorney that believed as much but a jury of my peers. Thank you all so much. Also the staff is not mean, they are precise. They will tell you what you need, nothing more, and nothing less. They are a busy staff but a very good staff. read more

These people at Basta is scams. They charge a arm and leg. You won't get much back to your pocket when all set and done. If there is zero star, I would select that. Don't deal with these people. Must stay away! Liar Liar and pants on fire! read more

I have to say that I am so glad I opted to contact BASTA, I was going through hell, being harassed and not having repairs done by the slum lords (in-laws) I was renting from. Daniel was my attorney and he hit the case out of the park. He is professional and timely and got me more then I expected in this situation. I would recommend them over and over, I can not say enough about how easy they made this whole process. I couldn't appreciate them more. Kent is also amazing, and so easy to talk to. This is a typical nonprofit organization. I called them to HELP my son with his eviction. That's what nonprofit organizations do. They do not HELP THEY STEAL & TAKE from the poor!! He wasn't being evicted for not paying rent. He was being asked to leave due to my grandmothers passing. He was her sole care provider for four years. She had Alzheimer's & dementia, and they want to sell the house. I made the first initial phone call to this place & Kent answered the phone. He spoke only to me until my son needed to sign. I was told that it was going to cost $800. $800 ONLY !!!! I asked this man myself how much " $800" never told nothing else about if my son was awarded money to move they take 33%!!! My son is unemployed due the fact we as family thought it was better for him to care for our grandmother. I gave them for $400 upfront. I was told by Kent to have my son come down there so he could do the paperwork so my 22-year-old son arrives to sign some paperwork. Kent doesn't explain anything to him being I was the one doing all the talking & communication. Kent tells him sign here, sign here, sign here !! You know most people don't read anything they're signing although he did not sign a piece of paper that actually said what I'm about to put on this review. Than the court date comes. The lawyer representing this organization is in negotiations with the estate attorney to reach a agreement. After negotiations by the lawyer that represents this non profit & the lawyer representing my grandmothers estate, and two court dates they all agreed on a certain fair amount that would cover the total move in to his new place and security deposit . It was all agreed in negotiations. The lawyer never once said don't forget they're gonna take 33% so that's gonna leave you with this amount so this is not going be enough. The judge did not know that they take 33%. The judge was in agreement that the amount agreed was enough based on what it costs to move into the place being that we had the break down. Had the judge & attorney representing my son been made aware of the 33% BASTA stole they would have considered this in the agreement. My son could've asked for more and stated I have to give this organization 33% your honor so I need more in order to pay for the move in costs. I was told by Kent in the office that the lawyers that are contracted with this nonprofit organization DO NOT know that they take 33%. He also told me the judge does not know. We would have asked for more. Had we known would have never agreed to the amount we would've asked for 33% more so that we have the right amount in order for him to be able to move in. These people are THIEVES & take from people during a very vulnerable time. My son was already hurting from the loss of the 88 year old he cared so much for. My son did not know anything until he got there to pick up half of the check and he was told this at that time. He NEVER signed that paper saying 33% it was on another sheet that does not require a signature. These people stole my son's money this is not the end of it. I am going to report them to the Better Business Bureau & to the HEAD of nonprofit organizations. The lawyer representing these cases need to know that if they are awarded anything that they take 33% off the top, that's almost half these people are stealing peoples money. This is supposed to be an organization to help people that don't have much or anything & they take 33%. I was told by Kent when I called to ask about this his response was it's in the paperwork. I told him that's not what I'm asking you you've never disclosed this information to me and you never disclose this to my son. I also told him lawyer does not even know. He said no he doesn't. I was on the phone the whole time when the negotiations were being made. I heard every single thing never once did anyone mention if he's awarded anything we're going to take 33% they're liars do not go here they will take and steal your money. read more

I went to Basta, Inc. around first week in April because I've read good thing about them. The had advertised offing Free Consultation . I went there thinking I was going to get free consultation, not so. I talked with a Philippino guy who is one of the attorney. He looked at some document I had and told me to come back another time because he had some work he had to get done. I returned about two weeks later, he saw me and said to wait the secretary will take care of me. When she was available she looked at my documents and said these people want me out. And stressed when she had the opportunity to fit in these words, "they want you out". I said I do not want to move. She said to me what they do :BASTA, we try to help you get a new place, and told me the fee is $500.00 nothing about free consultation. It seem to me only specific people gets FREE CONSULTATION. In summary they will not help you to stay in your apartment except on certain conditions which I do not know about. However helping a person get a new apart in not a benefit because if goes as a massive negative against the defendant's credit report. read more

After hiring Basta a couple months back I said that Ernie Irving there has some promise I take that back after doing some research on my own they lied Glory expecially. They're both out of the Lancaster office. I'm not going to go into my case it was a unique eviction case that's for sure. Irving told me that he is going to file for a ex parte and when he did he told me to be in the courtroom and to meet him at the courthouse because the judge is going to want to talk to me after meeting him there he told me no it's okay the judge doesn't want to see me so he went in there and did his Dirty Work came out and said no go. I know what happened after contacting the main office in La I spoke with a CEO and one of the female attorneys they told me I was completely right and what I was thinking and now it's come to fruition these people are full of s***. Don't trust them because all they want to do is get paid and once they're done with you it's on with the next case but when they screw up and you call them on it they don't want anything to do with you because they got their money and they just want to go on to the next case where they could possibly take advantage of as well it's really hard for me to believe these reviews that they get that are positive. They must pay people to do this because Gloria straight-up lied to me in the LA office agreed she was dishonest when I asked for her to prove it to me this particular subject she couldn't and she lied and when I talked to Irving he agreed he said no it did not arrive meaning part of the agreement that they claim they made with the landlord's . Attorney. While waiting on a signature to show that they did receive what I was waiting for she could not come up with that proof. Irving confirm that with me that that item never did arrive that day at the office. I would not recommend this company because they are not forthright. read more

Established in 2004.

BASTA was founded in 2004 by Danny Bramzon, the son of a Mexican immigrant, who graduated from Stanford University and the University of Chicago Law School. While working at his first job out of law school Danny helped the office building's custodial staff with various landlord-tenant issues during his own free time. Through those experiences, Mr. Bramzon learned that many landlords ignored state and local laws and wrongfully evicted tens of thousands of families every year and forced many other families to live in slum conditions in violation of state and local health and safety laws that causes significant health issues for the tenants. BASTA arose to remedy these injustices.

I cannot Thank this awesome team of attorneys and amazingly knowledgeable staff. Both my husband and I were served with eviction twice in a row, and I if it were not for this amazing team, BASTA, we won both cases without a stressful fight. After teaming up with Irving Figueroa, we definitely slept better at night knowing they had our back. I almost thought because they were so nice to us, that they would be the same towards the opposing side. WRONG. They will fight for you, the way YOU want them to. They will reassure you when you feel unsure of your case, they will give you words of wisdom when you don't what to do. If you hire these attorneys, your protected. I had to use BASTA a couple of years ago and my attorney,Tiffany got the case dropped, INSTANTLY. Recently I got another eviction case so, OF COURSE, I went back to BASTA. This time the case was more difficult. My attorney, IRVING FIGUEROA, was more than a bulldog, he was a TERMINATOR! He went to court so many times on my behalf, I felt like I was robbing him, because he did all that work for the same initial fee I paid. He would always call me after he returned from court to let me know the status. I never had to chase him down to speak to him. He never made me feel like I was bugging him when I asked him a lot of questions. I just found out, my case is over and once again, BASTA is the reason! I am NOT getting an eviction on my record, and don't owe any money to the landlord. I came home to tell my family the good news and they said, "man, mom, those attorneys REALLY KNOW THEIR STUFF"... This office saved my sanity and were a great help to me. My case was resolved in a very timely manner and they started working on it on day one! Gloria wanted to make sure the paperwork got to the court THAT day! My attorney always returned my calls and kept me up to date on my case. Gloria was very professional, warm and knowledgeable. She told me step by step what would happen with my case. I had no problem getting in contact with her and if I couldn't reach her- she would promptly return my calls. My case was resolved and I couldn't be more satisfied. This office does a great service and they do it promptly and efficiently. Money well spent. I would use them again (I hope I never have to-lol). I want to sincerely thank Isabel at BASTA.org for reaching out to me during one of the most stressful periods of my life. Facing an eviction lawsuit and jury trial was overwhelming, and without her guidance and support I would have been completely lost navigating the legal system. My attorney, Joezen Callos, was outstanding throughout the entire process. He was professional, prepared, compassionate, and fought hard using every legal strategy available to defend my case in court. Even when things became emotionally difficult, he remained calm, focused, and supportive. What stood out most to me was that they treated me like a human being, not just another case number. I recently hired BASTA to represent me in an eviction. I have nothing but positive words to say about this place. They are very savvy and are there for those who are getting evicted unfairly. My attorney Irving was so awesome! I went through the entire process and he was very helpful throughout the entire process. I don't know what I would've done without them. I'm very grateful that they represented me throughout this long and drawn out process. I recommend anyone that is having any types of landlord/tenant issues to consult with them immediately. AWSOME experience! Even though I called Basta 2 days before my court date, they took care of everything. First and foremost they took all my stress and worries away. I purchased a mobile home gave 4,000 down payment. Once I moved in all written agreements for repairs and replacements of things in the mobile home, never happened on top of that they started eviction papers, I did not know what to do; I contacted Basta and not only were they willing to repair, and replace all, as previously agreed...
