We came to this vet after many failed attempts to find a place that was caring and who could come up with a good treatment plan for our kitty who suffered from chronic rhinitis. Dr. Weidner was our savior! He is so conscientious and caring. Over the years this condition had become very hard to treat, and our cat, being semi-feral, was hard to give medication to. Dr. Weidner tried to give us as many options as possible, but was honest in his opinion of what might work or might not work. The prices are reasonable and there was NEVER any pressure to do high-priced invasive tests or procedures. In the end, he helped give our cat the best life she could have, right up to the very end. Her breathing became very difficult, and she had a stroke. We called and they made room for us that day, which I'm sure wasn't easy. Dr. Weidner also made a point to be the one who helped us on this last day since he had been the one we saw all along. All the staff is knowledgable, and gentle. The staff is so caring and prompt. Dr. Weidner is very knowledgeable and explained our cat's diagnosis so we could easily understand. When we made the difficult decision that it was time for our sweet girl Allie to travel over the rainbow bridge, he helped us greatly during the process. The office facility is nice and clean. Dr. Magnuson and Dr. Weidner are great....as is the rest of the staff! They listen and care about your fur kid, taking time to make sure all your questions and concerns are addressed. We brought our dog (cocker spaniel) in for a reoccurring ear problem, a different veterinary clinic couldn't figure it out so we decided to try Batavia Animal Clinic and so glad we did. Dr. Magnuson gave her a thorough exam and determined her ear problem and after a few weeks of a medicated ear wash and oral meds, she's sooo much better. Our dog also had a unsightly growth on her lower eye lid, plus tarter on her teeth, she's 8 years old. So we decided to get the growth removed while her teeth were cleaned. Dr. Weidner did the dental cleaning (pearly white!) and he removed the growth. He did a AWESOME job on both procedures!!! We are so happy we found Batavia Animal Clinic! read more

Weve been coming here for 5 years now and we're constantly amazed by the level of care they provide. Every single person you deal with is pleasant and genuine. My wife and I are beyond appreciative of the service they provide. Dr. Magnusson is a master of her field. You can receive an education and become a veterinarian but they cant teach you to be a warm soul and a compassionate provider of heath care, that is internal and special. Our baby girl likes about as many people as she can count on one paw and Dr. Magnusson is one of them. Her bedside manner is out of this world. This has been my go to place to take my dog Tails since we first adopted her eight years ago. Only reason we stopped going for three years was because we moved to the city. As soon as we moved back we were going right back here for all of Tails regular shots. The staff here are always gentle with my dog & patient with her especially with her recently becoming blind a year ago she is now scared of new voices. Whenever Tails needs her nails trimmed they always get us in and any concerns I ever have they are always quick to get us in or give me a professional answer to give me piece of mind. I'm torn on this review because I personally liked the staff and Dr however my dog felt otherwise and what was a red flag to me.. My dog LOVED our previous vet - I would take him every time I had to pick up heartgard and he was happy to go and would sit and wait for the staff to come out and say hi to him so when I brought him here for a new patient exam and he kept trying to run out the door, it really bothered me.. For that reason, I probably will not be bringing him back but I have nothing negative to say about the staff or care. read more

We take both of our cats and our corgi here for check-ups. I've been pretty happy with the service and care I've gotten for all of our animals. The staff is always super friendly and professional. My only gripe is that the prices they charge are kind of steep, but honestly, it's cheaper than a kid, so I can't complain too much. The facility is a little on the small side and parking is difficult. You can park in the lot next to the liquor store or a little past the clinic, going towards Water Street. read more

Actually the rating should be negative 5. This place is a complete rip-off. They overcharged me by adding extra lab fees and meds that I didn't ask for. Our family is so pleased that we found Batavia Animal Clinic. I knew it was the right place at our first puppy visit. We saw Dr. Schanding and it was obvious he loved animals, holding our new lab, Penny and petting her. The first exam too about 45 minutes! Now, 6 months later, we had her spayed and the process was easy.Not only did they do a great job, but the doctor extracted a baby tooth she noticed was solidly in there to prevent another anesthesia - at no charge. You don't see service like that very often. Penny was home the same day, in a pair of pajamas to prevent licking her wound. I feel they are very thorough, concerned, knowledgeable. I have always been extremely happy with the care given to my dogs and it has only improved since Dr. Schanding has taken over the practice. He and his staff are professional and knowledgeable while at the same time extremely caring as they tend to the animal's well being. Dr Schanding is amazing! I drive 40 minutes to see him (he was our previous vet but moved- thank God for google). I love that when I come in he greets me but then immediately gets down on the floor and greets my furbabies. It means so much to me that he is hands on with them and takes the time to explain everything that he is doing. He will not oversell services that aren't necessary. I completely trust him and will do anything he recommends because I know he has their best interests at heart. His staff is so nice! Since its so far of a drive I have to bring all the non-furbabies with me too. His techs and receptionist are very patient with my children and kept them from being bored. I love that they have complimentary water for the human population too. The office is small, but clean and organized. As far as pricing is concerned, I think its pretty standard and fair. I can't say enough positive things about Batavia Animal Clinic, I will definitely recommend it! read more

I cannot say enough positive things about Batavia Animal Clinic. We have been clients for 10+ years, with 2 rabbits, 4 cats and a rescue dog. The new owner, Dr Schanding is so nice and dedicated to his patients. The office staff, including Sarah and Sarah Anne, are also fabulous. From your first visit, you and your pet(s) are treated like old friends. Dr Schanding quickly diagnosed our dog with a health issue and was able to successfully and economically treat her with medicine. We recently adopted 2 cats from H.E.L.P. We were told to register with a vet to record their previously received rabies shots and start files. We were also told to inquire, as many vets offer a free intake exam for newly adopted pets. As is our usual practice, we try to support local businesses, so we were eager to contact Batavia Animal Clinic. Imagine our disappointment to find that they would only provide the free intake for 1 animal, offering a discounted exam at $39.00 for the 2nd cat! These are cats that have already been screened, spayed, chipped and up to date on shots and meds before they were released to us by H.E.L.P.'s vet. The exams were pretty much a formality to get us set up with a vet in our area! Looked elsewhere and found Meadow View Vet Clinic in Geneva, who was happy to see our 2 new adopted pets at no charge! It's only a 10 minute drive, so no problem for this retired "pet mom". Too bad that Batavis Animal Clinic gave up 10-20 years of taking care of our cats, for $39.00! If 2 separate families had adopted our cats, I guess they would have each been taken care of at no charge! Sort of seems like " cutting off your nose to spite your face"' doesn't it? For some places maybe it is more about the money! read more

I came here originally based on the good (few) reviews and was never impressed. That and I like supporting local businesses, which is why we tried here upon moving to the area a few years ago. They were super expensive and no too personable. The receptionist was really pushy about flea, tick, food, etc. and was not too educated about diet for dogs who have allergies and other issues but still kept trying to peddle their items. On more than 1 occasion I had to wait longer than a 1/2 hour, once nearly an hour. When you also have a nervous animal and toddler/baby in tow, that's the last thing you want to deal with. They charged me an obscene amount of $ for rinsing my dogs ear and then when I had to follow up 2 weeks later charged me an additional visit charge. Usually a follow up should be quick and routine, not extra, which turned me off. It literally lasted less than 5 minutes. Our new vet doesn't charge a pricey checkup charge, is considerably less ($10 per item on the statement), and didn't charge $7 to get rid of my dogs poop upon screening. I'm bummed since I would have loved for them to work out. read more
