They are always very nice and patient with our cattle dog. I love that they take their time when starting treatment to pet and play with the dogs, so that the animals feel more at ease and less stressed. To add, the environment is very clean and sanitary (I.e smells good, no fur all over the floor). Lastly, I think the candle in the front (lit when someone is saying bye to their pet) is a special touch. I would highly recommend this vet. Our first wellness visit was supposed to be covered by Petland. We purchased our puppy on a Saturday, and with Monday being a holiday, we called Millbrook on Wednesday to schedule an appointment. My wife spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone answering numerous questions, many of which were later repeated in an online form that had to be completed before the appointment. Our appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, and we were asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring a stool sample and had to return home to retrieve it, causing a slight delay. We arrived at exactly 1:00 PM(the time of our appointment) but were informed that we would need to reschedule. Since we live approximately 20-25 minutes away in South Elgin , both my wife and I were extremely disappointed by the lack of flexibility, especially given that we were only a few minutes behind the requested early arrival time. Although we were able to reschedule for later that same day, the experience left a negative impression. Later, while getting gas at Costco, we stopped by River West Animal Hospital in St Charles to inquire about establishing care there in the future. The difference in experience was immediately noticeable. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the staff was friendly, understanding, and accommodating. Despite arriving close to closing time, our puppy was seen within approximately 20 minutes. The veterinarian (Jason Long) examined our Cavapoo, answered our questions, and had an excellent bedside manner. While the visit at River West was not free, the cost was very reasonable--just bit over $100, which included an examination and stool sample testing. Based on our experience, we plan to return there for the remainder of our puppy's vaccinations and ongoing care. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at Millbrook Animal Care and were much more impressed with the level of service and customer care we received at River West Animal Hospital. We later cancelled our appointment at Milbrook. After reading a few of the reviews, there are some reoccurring themes at this animal clinic.

She looked up our records, and suggested a probiotic to help settle our pups stomach. A few days later our pup was back to normal. Really appreciate our vets advice. Saved us a few hundred bucks and a day of running around. Most importantly it got our golden retriever back to health.

Her nutritional and medical advice is superb. She did not suggest any unnecessary tests, she asks the right questions, she makes some good nutritional recommendations. I appreciated the handout she gave me for approved raw and grain-free food. I have referenced this handout several times when seeking out different options for food. I find her very compassionate about animals and holistic treatments. She is compassionate about what is put in pet food, I got quite an education about what is in some commercial products. I've found their front desk reception staff to be pleasant and helpful every visit, and also when I call. I have called to make appointments and to order a supplement, which they shipped to me (I appreciated not having to drive an hour there and back to get it). Yes, when you book a first time appointment it takes a couple months to get in with Dr. Grant. She is very popular. When I needed a more urgent visit I was able to book an emergency visit for approximately $100. As long as the staff disclosed this amount and why, I was fine with it. I saw they have boarding, the cats that were in the cat boarding looked pretty happy and it appeared to be clean and tidy in the boarding room.

However, my 10 month old cat has been experiencing eye issues on his right eye for 5 weeks. Our vet (Dr K at Park Rose In Roselle) referred me to Eye Care for Animals but they do not have an open slot until the end of July. My kitten was originally checked for an eye injury by my vet, we had tried one antibiotic gel without success and went back 5 days later for a recheck. He was given a new antibiotic gel that has a steroid to combat the inflammation and pain medication to give him relief. This worked well but when I ran out of the steroid gel, the swelling reappeared. I was stressed, as one would imagine. I called this location and had a very wonderful and reassuring conversation with Kim. With the only opening available being in July, I did find a separate place for an earlier appointment. However, I thought I'd at least give a review to acknowledge how wonderful Kim was with me and to give credit where credit is due. My impression of this experience is that if you have a great interaction at the very beginning, just via the phone with front desk staff--then it speaks volumes about the entire staff and facility. So, if you're reading this Kim, thank you so very much. I will always remember your kindness and your patience.
