Dr. Watson is a wonderful vet. I had to start off here on a sad note putting my beloved Louisa cat down whom was 19 and had a larger tumor in her stomach. They were very empathic towards how you were feeling and took your payment in the patient room so you don't have be out there with tears rolling down your face searching for your credit card. We have two more cats in addition to the one we lost. They are both on the elderly side as well. One of them had a large tumor on her face and Dr. Watson was great diagnosing her problem calling me personally on the phone to explain what she had wrong with her. Plus in preparing her for the surgery we had another set back with her as they found out she had hyperthyroidism. He was great with explaining how to treat the thyroid issue and provided written information as well. After a few months of medication, her thyroid got under control and they could removed the tumor on her face. He always calls to check up after a procedure and his staff call as well. Not only are they professional but they are compassionate and care about their patients. Their facility is super nice and clean and calm feeling. Highly recommend College Station Cat Clinic...I only wish there was a clinic just like this for my dogs!!! read more

I'm disturbed to see some negative reviews regarding this clinic, and how the front desk receptionists are rude. I've been a client of Dr. Watson/College Station Cat Clinic since Day 1 of adopting my cat, Cora. They have been nothing but nice, welcoming, friendly, and helpful through the 6 years I've been a client. The front end receptionists have always been friendly and welcoming - the technicians are comforting and answer any question I may have - and Dr. Watson is the best vet (granted, I've only known him as my vet....) --- I could have asked for. For anyone reading negative reviews regarding the front desk, please ignore them. For anyone who has experienced a "bad time" with the front desk receptionists, ask yourself if you've ever had a bad day and check yourself. read more

First I want to say that I cannot thank Dr Watson and Dr Winterowd enough for the outstanding care they provide to our kitties. When I called because one of our kitties struggled to take the medication he was given after extensive dental surgery Dr Watson called me back himself and came up with another medication option. Dr Watson always follows up with a call after one of our kitties has been in for a procedure or treatment to be sure all is well and progressing as it should . We really appreciate that he cares enough to follow through. It means a lot. We are so very grateful to the doctors and their vet techs. The techs have all come across so very caring, compassionate and knowledgeable. If ten stars were an option I'd give the doctors and techs ten stars. All this being said I struggled giving five stars on this review because of the reception area one must navigate though before actually seeing the techs and doctors. I have found that more often that not when call I just receive a voice recording. That isn't necessary a bad thing but with every message I have left my message has never been returned. I recently called because I needed to reschedule a long surgery appointment that Dr Waston set aside for one of our kitties. The message was never acknowledged and the appointment never canceled. If this were my business I'd be concerned because this appointment time could easily have been used for Dr Watson to service another kitty. I have found there is one receptionist in particular who is extremely difficult to communicate with and do not find her to be customer care minded in the least. I called a while back because one of our kitties was ill requesting to get her in for an exam and she offered me an appointment more than a week out. I explained again that my kitty was ill and that she really was in need of attention. She just paused and said nothing. After the awkward pause I explained my kitty was ill and I'd need to take her to another vet and the receptionist responded, "Oh, ok". If this were my business I'd be concerned with this manner of care being giving to my patients and their owners. Finally today, I called to schedule an appointment for a new kitten check up and got the same, challenging receptionist. Making this simple appointment was not an easy task. I'm sorry, it's a new pet visit, it should not only be an easy task but also a pleasant experience and sadly it was neither. I don't know if this woman doesn't actually understand that she is the voice and the face of this small business but she really doesn't do justice to the quality care the animals receive once the owner make it past reception. I'm being honest when I say that had she been the person I had gotten on the phone the first time I called and made an appointment at the clinic I'd have chosen another veterinarian for our furry ones. This is my first yelp review and likely the only one I'll ever write. I really do hope the doctors read this. The doctors are the compassionate, kind, thorough, knowledgeable and caring, their techs are gentle, kind, knowledgeable and caring but the reception area really seems to be missing these features. Most caring and compassionate clinic I have ever been to. They've seen me through the hard times with the passing of two of my elderly cats and they're still the caregivers to my other elderly cat. They've seen my through bring two new adopted kitties into my home. I like that they are always honest about what care they recommend and don't try to get you to do a bunch of unnecessary treatments just to pad the bill. I wanted to give a shout out to Toni (sp?) who treated me with such care and kindness and went above and beyond to help me. I needed to get my cat's records from my previous vet. I had asked them to send them to me via email but they never did. Without the records, the visit would not be as fruitful as it could be. Toni called my previous vet on my behalf and got my cat's records! She even noticed x rays that weren't sent in and attempted to get those too! Talk about thorough! She was friendly before and after my visit. I had left my coffee cup there, and when I went back to get it, it was during the one hour of the day where they are closed and the doors were locked. Toni met me at the door with my cup. What a sweetheart, a really wonderful lady, and a credit to the vet clinic! Thank you!! P.S. Dr. Winterowd was fantastic! We've had out tortie for a couple of years and decided to take her in for a check-up. She wasn't sick - but we wanted to make sure that everything was alright as she aged. Walking in, the clinic is designed to support the cats and make the cats as comfortable as possible. We had an appointment and there was very little/ no wait at all. The staff took our kitties vitals and Dr. Winterword was in shortly thereafter. The staff was both conscious of our cat's anxiety our curiosity about her health. She got a good bill of health and we have great peace of mind. I highly recommend making the cat clinic a regular spot for all cat lovers out there. read more

This is for the staff answering the phone, attending the front desk- NOT Dr. Watson or the techs- and it is b/c of them I am considering going elsewhere. 1. They (almost) NEVER actually answer the phone- you have to leave a msg and play phone tag- just to make an appt. 2. When they do call back one woman especially is downright rude and impatient- as if I'm asking too much when I ask her about various openings. 3. When I told the last woman who called me back (the next day) that I had already reached someone at their office- she hung up! and when I called right back no one answers- WTF? That said, Dr. Watson is great and the techs are very compassionate, gentle with our cats. But I can't use a practice where I have to wait a day or two, playing phone tag, just to make an appt. read more

We first came to College Station when seeking out a more informed second opinion after a very negative experience with another vet, and we were impressed with the quality of care and attention to detail. We moved away for a little while and never found a place we liked as much as this one. I'm especially impressed at how diligent they are about following up after visits, to ensure any problems have been resolved. And the one time I had an issue that really worried me, they were great about fitting us in, it just involved some extra waiting so they could take care of their scheduled kitties first, which was more than reasonable. If you are picking something up from their clinic, the office closes from 12 pm-1 pm daily. One time I had to pick something up when I was living further away and ended up not able to make it there until 11:50 am. The office was already solidly locked up, so unfortunately I had to wait around until 1:05 pm or so for them to reopen. If it's out of your way, I definitely wouldn't cut it too close to lunch hour. read more

It's probably kind of weird that I wish College Station could give me human medical services. (But then again, I guess I'm bound to be a little creepy as a cat owner). Dr. Watson and his veterinary staff are just that great. Scheduling an appointment is as easy as can be; the clinic can usually accommodate same day appointments for minor illnesses or check-ups. The clinic building is actually a converted residential house. As you walk in, you'll see that it's very nice and clean inside. It's welcoming, and it's very different from than the foreboding, dulled-white environment of most veterinary clinics. Once you're inside, their staff will welcome you and you'll quickly be put into a waiting room. This way, you can let your cat out in a private room rather than having to wait in their carrier. The tech will come in to do a preliminary examination and then the vet will come in. The care and competency of the staff is apparent immediately. As Dr. Watson goes through his procedures, he will explain everything that he's doing and why. If something's wrong, he'll run you through the different options and make a recommendation. Rather than a hand-off to veterinary expertise, you're made to feel as though you have an active role which is good for both the owner and the pet in the long run. The only downside is that the parking lot (which looks like it should be part of the Metra train station parking lot) is a little tough to get in and out of as it's quite small. But, my horrible parking skills aside, this clinic is excellent. If you have a cat, I completely recommend College Station Cat Clinic. If you are just a human, try to get them to treat you. read more

I'm not at all surprised to see that every review of College Station Cat Clinic is 5-stars. Recently one of my kitties was having urinary blockage issues which is a rather common problem with male cats. The poor thing was so miserable. After numerous trips to the 24 hour animal hospital (and $4,000+ out of pocket later), poor Whiskers was still in big trouble and had started passing blood from his penis due to repeated catheterization at the animal hospital (which as it turns out, they shouldn't have been doing). Every vet who saw Whiskers wanted to do a PU surgery (kitty sex change). I really wasn't that gung-ho about the whole process and knew there had to be a better solution. It was then that we started looking for a real cat specialist who actually knew what they were doing and we were fortunate enough to stumble upon Dr. Watson. We immediately took Whiskers down for an evaluation as soon as we could get him in. The very first thing I noticed was how absolutely meticulous and fresh Dr. Watson's office is. Stunning would be the best word to describe it. Think more in terms of "home in the country" instead of "animal hospital". Our kitty was assessed and immediately admitted to the hospital because he was in bad shape and needed treatment right away. Dr. Watson did not hesitate to show us around the entire facility, and even in the "back rooms" where they do all their work. The entire facility was spotless clean and we had no reservations about leaving our kitty in the care of Dr. Watson. Everything was explained to us in detail and Dr. Watson indicated that despite kitties bad condition and the fact that he has had reoccurring bouts of urinary blockage, the prognosis was quite good. He said that he only performs the PU surgery as an absolute last resort and did not at all recommend it in this case. Whiskers stayed at the clinic all week and we finally got the call that he was on the mend and to come pick him up. Long story short is Dr. Watson was the only doctor who was able to nurse Whiskers back to good health. He got all the urinary crystals cleared, suggested a specific prescription diet to keep Whiskers free of crystals and today I am happy to report that Whiskers is in perfect health and probably doesn't even remember the ordeal he went through. If you are a cat owner, Dr. Watson is the only vet even worth considering. It doesn't matter how far you have to drive, it is well worth it. I would also like to point out that their fees are actually quite competitive and frequently less than what we had been paying at our previous vet. Usually when you think "specialist" you think "$$$$$$$". Not the case at all. I also just have to point out that the diet he put Whiskers on is a bit difficult for us to source. They stock it at the clinic, but that is the better part of an hours drive from our home. Dr. Watson offered to 'meet us half way' when we needed to resupply. How's that for class? Suffice to say, when we need some more food, it's now a pleasure to make the drive down to Wheaton to pick some up. Dr. Watson and his College Station Cat Clinic is a 5-star experience all the way. read more

Purrfection. From the pristine interior to the kind staff to the thorough examination and talent evident in the vets and vet techs, I absolutely love this place. I needed a vet for my cat as I just moved to the area, and after a nightmarish experience at Stonebridge in Naperville, I researched and made an appointment. The receptionist was surprisingly detailed in collecting my info, not just, "Ok, so when do you want to come in?" Later that week , with cat, boyfriend and kitty stool sample in hand (not literally), we trekked out to Wheaton. The clean and comfortable design of the waiting room left a great first impression, followed by the warm greetings of the receptionists. Customer service was excellent! The doctor and vet tech were very knowledgeable. I definitely trust my cat's health to them. The staff is highly knowledgeable, and I felt like they genuinely cared about MY cat. read more

I think this was the most thorough and informative cat vet visit I've ever had, even though I've gone to cat specialists in the past. I mean, they were great, clearly loved cats, knew what they were doing, but not as impressive as Dr. Watson and College Station. Great facilities, though the exam rooms can get a bit warm, a bit fast. I could see where the parking lot might get a bit crowded, but there were 7 or 9 open spaces when I got there, and only one less when I left, 8:30-9:30 on a Friday morning. Got caught up on vaccinations, got microchipped, at what seemed like very reasonable prices compared to past cats' visits. Will be going back next week for boarding. This has to be the best clinic I've ever taken my cat to. She gets excellent care by a staff that has a real passion for cats. First, the staff treats you well. They greet you warmly when you arrive. Everything is explained. And they don't rush your visit. The prices are also very reasonable considering the quality of care they give. Dr. Watson & Dr. Winterowd are very thorough in their examination and they take the time to explain everything in layman terms. On many visits, Dr. Watson answered my obscure questions about cat psychology, and we even bantered about why cats are better than dogs. At no time did I feel rushed. I'm very protective of my cat and only want the best. College Station certainly provides that. A couple of weeks ago we brought our Sophie in. She was diagnosed with a urinary tract infection, and the processes start to get her better. The tech took really good care of her, and handled her really well . . . it just felt like she loved Sophie too! The veterinarian came in and spent time explaining everything . . . she was really good and made sure I really understood what was taking place with Sophie and what the next steps would be. She made head on recommendations, and things worked out really well over the next couple of weeks. Yesterday I took Sophie for her follow up visit after two weeks, at which time we met Dr. Watson. Wow! He was extremely personable and it felt like he was genuinely interested in Sophie, and in her family . . . that would be us. :) We talked about my Grandson and his children . . . and it seemed that he wanted to; that makes a difference. It felt genuine! Then he took the time to explain what he was looking for in Sophie's tests, what he was doing as he examined her, and answered every single question with the body language which suggested that I could ask as many questions as I needed to ask. Ultimately I trust Sophie with this group of people, who are caring and interested - from the receptionist to the tech to the veterinarian . . . it's simply been a really good experience. Great people to care for my furry baby . . . I'm very pleased and have every confidence that anyone would be! Dr. Watson is simply amazing . . . everyone is really kind, caring, and knowledgeable, but he just goes that step or two or five or ten above! I went to College Station Cat Clinic since 2009, back before the awesome new facility went up and before Dr. Watson & Dr. Winterowd became such superstars (although they have always been superstars with my cat)! Recently, I moved to a different state and had to utilize several vets in this area which were utterly disappointing and appalling experiences...so much so that it makes me appreciate the quality care, specialized expertise, and wonderful environment of College Station CC beyond words. I've been so spoiled by Dr. Watson, his wife, and vet tech that I thought I would have the same experience going to other cat-only vets. I did not know this at the time but after doing extensive research on trying to find qualified cat clinics here, I found out that College Station CC is a gold status, "Cat Friendly Practice" by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP). Admittedly, it saddens me that I cannot take my kitty to College Station as I don't think I'll ever find a place as wonderful as it was there (it makes me miss the Chicagoland area even more too!). I have been very fortunate and lucky to have something like the College Station so close to where I lived and for so long. Now, I have to drive over an hour, to another state, to find something as similar. I referred a friend when his cat was in the early stages of kidney disease. He has thanked me repeatedly over the years for recommending College Station as he went to vets in the past that provided suboptimal advice/care. He strongly believes that Dr. Watson extended his cat's life by years compared to the shorter trajectory his cat was on with a previous vet. Almost a year ago (or maybe more/less?), I tagged along with my friend to see the new vet (don't know her name) and agree with the recent reviewer that she was cold, was a bit condescending, hurried, and somewhat irritated. Very, very, very different from the experience with Dr. Watson and Dr. Winterowd...it's almost like you're in a completely different clinic. And depending on who greets you at the front desk, sometimes you will get a lukewarm reception. The main receptionist, Toni, always gushed over my cat and would joke about catnapping him so of course, I have a soft spot for her. :) Ericka, the vet tech, has been there for years and has been the most competent, compassionate and personable vet tech I've ever encountered. I do not know why, but many of the vet techs that I've had recently and in the past have been a bit cold, removed, rushed, and gave poor advice or inaccurate summaries. read more

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Watson and his staff. I am pretty demanding and seriously protective of my little furrkids, nothing is too good for them. I ask a TON of questions, take a ton of notes, arm myself with all kinds of research, and am pretty hawk-eyed about the slightest changes in the kitties' health and behavior, especially now they've entered their senior years. Dr. Watson is very good-humored and friendly when dealing with me. He's a true professional. I was so happy and thankful to find this clinic relatively close to us three years ago, and even happier to find a new, updated, clean facility that only treats cats. Dr. Watson really cares about his four-legged patients, and I've always had the utmost confidence in his competence, expertise and treatment of my little guys. His examinations are extremely thorough and he's very communicative and explains what he's doing. He keeps up to date on the feline health field - being well-informed is a very important aspect to me. He also is a dental specialist, which is total icing. His staff is all very friendly and helpful. I've always had followup calls after our visits to check on the kitties' progress. When I was traveling like crazy in SF and forgot to return calls, I would get followups to their followup calls! Now *that's* service. Thank you Dr. Watson and everyone for all your awesome work. I've been bringing my cats here for years, including to the prior owner of this practice. boy, has it improved since then!!!! I also had a very bad experience at abbeywood cat clinc in Naperville in 1991. from the receptionists, to the techs, to the physicians, everyone here is helpful, competent and caring. the clinic is spotless. my cats receive excellent care, and I will never go anywhere else. i'm just glad it's close, as i'm a basket case when I have to bring the kittehs in. they hate the car ride, but love the doctors. shine on, college station cc! read more

I could give this place zero stars. Toni, the office manager, is what makes everything wrong about this place. Her attitude is absolutely horrible. Friends of Animal Care and Control, a legitimate rescue, based out of Chicago, offered to pay for the dental visit, but the office manager told me that they would be unable to do so, because they would not accept credit card over the phone, they would not accept an electronic signature, and the only way they would accept payment is if somebody from fcacc physically drove out to College Station Cat Clinic, to pay with credit card, and physically signed the receipt. After finally getting the cash in hand to go pay for the estimate, mind you, not the exact amount because they didn't know the exact amount, they still would not take my money, and decided to cancel my appointment. This place is from the stone-age, and it's sad that they treat people that way. It's apparent that going into that vet visit, I don't know that I would have seen my cat coming out. I did everything in my power to make sure that they had their money before the vet appointment, and they still refused to accept the visit. I guess what the mindset of a small town vet, you get what you pay for, in terms of vet care, too. read more
