    At true vet seeking help!!

I brought my 2 1/2 year old puppy to this clinic with serious constipation the vet that seen us initially told us it was 55$ to start the X-rays then if need more it would go up to 175$ end of visit wanted to charge 285$ for nothing but I end up paying 135$ for nothing seen my pup was dehydrated etc did nothing to help my distressed pet . Next day took her to Freeport animal hospital a shot and IV plus antibiotics 43$ and my girl back and up plus full of energy true vet wanted 2000$ for the start of her care just a scam

    Benji :-)

VCA Aurora Animal Hospital, Fantastic, Helpful and Extremely Caring Staff all around! From the…read morefront desks, to the techs, to the Doctors/Surgeons, etc. very knowledgeable and they all wear their hearts on their sleeves. Recently our boy Finn dislocated his hip and needed surgery to fix it. We called every VCA around and everyone was booked, it was also a Saturday so that was understandable. Aurora was the last VCA on our list because it's an hour and a half southeast of our home. So we called to see if we could get him in, we were told yes but it was a 2-3 hour wait because they were packed as well. We waited because our Finn is worth the wait. Finn got in to see a doctor, they ran all of their tests/X-rays and kept us informed every step of the way. We eventually got into a room and were given the results along with all the options and costs, they were very professional and informative. We decided to wait until Monday to make an appointment for surgery, otherwise we would have had to pay the "weekend fees/rates. We called Monday to schedule an appointment for surgery. Surgery was scheduled for Tuesday. Tuesday morning we dropped off Finn and his food; we were told they would call us before and after surgery and again before bedtime, and they did. We arrived Wednesday afternoon to pick Finn up and we were given all of his paperwork and meds, then we instructed on what to look out for during the healing process and how to use his meds and to call if we needed anything and to schedule an appointment with our VCA for a follow up. From beginning to end Aurora Animal Hospital crushed it!, Knocked it out of the park!, and exceeded our expectations!!!! Great Job Aurora VCA Staff and Thank You!! Finn is doing great and on his way to being our energetic, happy boy again!! We Love VCA!!!!!!!!

The receptionists, vet techs, doctors--all wonderful--professional, warm, welcoming--and all took the time to carefully explain every part of the process, from the first appointment, diagnosis, surgery, recovery, financing, etc. Dr. Peacock is everything you'd want your vet (or your own doctor) to be. He is a highly experienced surgeon--and doctors at that level often lack the "bedside manner" so crucial to clear communication and a healthy doctor/patient/patient's family relationship. Dr. Peacock dispelled all those concerns the moment he walked in the room. He is warm and down to earth. He was so helpful--examining our dog, explaining the issue and appropriate procedure--and answering all of our questions (some of which we likely asked more than once) with patience, kindness, and candor. I can't express enough how positive the entire experience was. Every single person made us feel comfortable, confident in our dog's care, and welcome. And our dog is good as new (so to speak!) Thank you, everyone at Aurora!

They can address emergencies well. Dr. Sunny is extra compassionate as he has taken it upon himself to help my elderly dog with his anal gland expresses, since my dog has a collapsed trachea, and some techs struggle to get the right area. He said to make my appt for my elderly dog when he's there, and he'll try to be one to do it or assist the tech. Dr. Kumar discovered Sammy's collapsed trachea so he's smart. Sometimes, Dr. Kumar pushes for too many interventions, and you end up paying more than you wanted to pay, but his heart is in the right place. I've never had Dr. Fauley as a vet but he does not get high reviews by my dog friends who have visited Care. 2. The techs vary--sometimes amazing, sometimes inept. I think they may employ some temps. 3. The office staff varies--sometimes compassionate and helpful; sometimes mean and sarcastic. I mean sarcastic and sassy to the point a friend of mine stopped going here because of one particular person. 4. Their meds are available online for less, which they will not tell you, so that's kind of odd. As in, Sammy is on Cerenia for his collapsed trachea, but I had to discover that I could buy the meds from THEM online for less than in person. Maybe that will change. Same with heart worm meds--less expensive on their online site. They will not give you a prescription to buy meds online somewhere else like Chewy. 5. Their hours are AMAZING. As in, open late weekdays, open Sat & Sun. I think they're trying to position themselves as both your regular and your emergency vet. 6. Prices are not outlandish, but do tend to be higher than some places. Probably comes with the longer hours, and 7 days a week open. Much less than what you'd pay going to an emergency place, so there's that. Because they do get emergency visits, you may have to wait, so I think they should find a way to warn you, if you have a nonemergency appt, and maybe redirect you to another time/day. 7. My wishes for this place are that they get a bit more with the times in terms of a natural approach to caring for animals. As in a species appropriate raw food diet for dogs is not that strange but neither vet embraces it. Natural vitamins and supplements have been a "thing" for a while, but they are not all that inclusive of those thoughts nor are they resourceful. I handed a list of the natural supplements I give my dogs to Dr. Sunny and he left it on the examination table after our visit. He questioned my use of a raw food dog (Raw Bistro--$80 per 12 patties of Bison--top notch organic raw food). But, at the same time, he mentioned Metamucil for my dog's anal glands. I went for organic flaxseed, instead, which has helped Sammy, so he had a great thought, but why not organic pumpkin and organic flaxseed? Made a difference. Dr. Kumar does recommend some vitamin supplements but seems to have no idea where to get them (as in, you can direct people to Dr. Mercola's dog vitamins or Standard Processing dog vitamins). Using human vitamins is a bit strange. Dr. Sunny mentions Manuka honey as a wound med, but he needs to say where to go (at least mention Whole Foods) I use my dog's Chiropractor, Dr. Erin O'Connor, (Vitality Chiropractic Center) as my natural supplement source of info. and she stocks vitamins. And, it's odd neither vet embraces chiropractic or laser treatment for tissue issues, accident recovery, and old age movement issues. My older dog, despite being 14 and having a collapsed trachea, moves around very well, because he has had chiropractic care every 6 weeks, and Sammy has had it his entire life. It's fairly well known that chiropractic care is very good for animals (and humans) In terms of tooth care, TEEF is all natural and effective, but neither vet embraces that, but instead has some kind of chew they recommend. I guess the pairing of Dr. O'Connor and this practice gives you the best of both worlds. All in all, a good place to bring your pets, especially if you have an emergency.

We rescheduled for Wednesday. We call saying we will be 5 MINUTES LATE (trying to be nice). They say "we have to cancel it, we are extremely busy either way". Hello? Don't you have it scheduled already? Haha like what? We finally take our dogs in today (Sunday). They say that they can no longer accept one of them for being a crybaby. We have been taking him there his whole life, not aggressive, doesn't bite, solely because of him being a crybaby. I don't know what's up with these new people but they are lazy and unprofessional. I asked if it could be honored because that's what I was told AND the only reason why I booked and she declined multiple times. Just for my dog to still be damp, loose hair and dandruff all over him and he smells like wet dog. He doesn't smell like he was just given a BATH. IM livid. DO NOT BRING YOUR FURRY FRIENDS HERE

She has a history of severe arthritis and we wanted to see what we can do to make her comfortable and prolong her quality of life. She is on medication for this but we wanted to see what else we could do. For the moment we got there we were greeted by an assistant and then by Dr. Anders. We did not have to wait at all. We felt very welcome. Dr. Anders was so amazing with Roxy. Roxy can be really shy and become grumbly, but with Dr. Anders she was not shy at all. She warmed up to her fairly quickly. You can tell Dr.Andres loves what she does by the way she treats us and Roxy. She was so patient with Roxy throughout the whole process. She was also able to do a thorough exam with without pushing Roxy and make her apprehensive. With this consultation, we learned a lot of information about Roxy's such as her favoring one leg over the other, indicating a potential imbalance or discomfort. At the end of it all we were able to set up some sessions for therapy for Roxy. And we got information on some at home therapy we can do. Im so glad we have another way to help Roxy! I'm excited to see what the next month brings. I'm even more happy know that Roxy we treat with the utmost care at this visit!! Thank you!!

This Puppy is everything I hoped it would be. very aggressive. That being said, I knew I would need to do some exceptional training with her to cap some of this aggression. Keep in mind this is a working dog. This pup arrived to me at 8 weeks of age. She is a wild one, she runs around like crazy and chews on everything. She is always jumping up on people and as she gets bigger that will become a very bad problem. I have been to numerous trainers and they could never seem to explain what they were doing or why they were doing the stuff the way they did it. Needless to say it was very disappointing. My pup is now 7 months old and for the last 2 months I have turned the training over to Ashley. The difference has been like night and day. My pup loves working with Ashley and is so well behaved now. Ashley always explains what she is doing with the pup and why she is doing that way. Ashley has taught me so much about how to work with my puppy. Things like containing the puppy to certain places in the house and making others off limits. How to get my puppy to engage with me and focus on me and ignore everything else. When my puppy comes back from training with Ashley I always get a set of instructions that I must follow to keep her going in the right direction. I can honestly say Ashley is worth every penny. I have never had the pleasure to work with such a knowledgeable trainer in the past and I wish I had.
