After purchasing our new puppy from Petland Batavia, Millbrook Animal Care was one of the three veterinarians recommended to us and was the closest location. Our first wellness visit was supposed to be covered by Petland. We purchased our puppy on a Saturday, and with Monday being a holiday, we called Millbrook on Wednesday to schedule an appointment. My wife spent nearly 30 minutes on the phone answering numerous questions, many of which were later repeated in an online form that had to be completed before the appointment. Our appointment was scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, and we were asked to arrive 15 minutes early. Unfortunately, we forgot to bring a stool sample and had to return home to retrieve it, causing a slight delay. We arrived at exactly 1:00 PM(the time of our appointment) but were informed that we would need to reschedule. Since we live approximately 20-25 minutes away in South Elgin , both my wife and I were extremely disappointed by the lack of flexibility, especially given that we were only a few minutes behind the requested early arrival time. Although we were able to reschedule for later that same day, the experience left a negative impression. Later, while getting gas at Costco, we stopped by River West Animal Hospital in St Charles to inquire about establishing care there in the future. The difference in experience was immediately noticeable. The atmosphere was welcoming and relaxed, and the staff was friendly, understanding, and accommodating. Despite arriving close to closing time, our puppy was seen within approximately 20 minutes. The veterinarian (Jason Long) examined our Cavapoo, answered our questions, and had an excellent bedside manner. While the visit at River West was not free, the cost was very reasonable--just bit over $100, which included an examination and stool sample testing. Based on our experience, we plan to return there for the remainder of our puppy's vaccinations and ongoing care. Overall, we were disappointed with our experience at Millbrook Animal Care and were much more impressed with the level of service and customer care we received at River West Animal Hospital. We later cancelled our appointment at Milbrook. After reading a few of the reviews, there are some reoccurring themes at this animal clinic. read more

Once Dr Bongiorno sold the clinic it really has a money first, upsell feel to it. We stayed with them, but recently was the final straw. I brought our Chocolate Lab in for his annual checkup ($368). Blood work comes back with a kidney level that is off, try an antibiotic. Another $50 bucks or so. Followup blood check after antibiotic another $98. Same day the vet calls with results that all is good, by afternoon my dog won't walk, is shivering and in obvious distress so I call Millbrook at 2:30pm saying my dog has a issue that might be sever swimmers tail, but would like him checked. Sorry - no availability. I have an emergency I say - sorry, all booked I'm told. Really?!, I spent over $500 with you the last 3 weeks and you can't find a minute to check him out. Unbelievable!!! To say I was pissed is an understatement. I make a call to River West Animal Hospital in St. Charles and they say bring him in despite not being an existing customer. If you love your dog do not take them here. Our precious Chelsea was misdiagnosed two days in a row by Dr David. When we finally took her to VEG in Naperville the 2nd night she had to be put in an oxygen chamber to help her breathe. By the next morning she was declining further and unfortunately had to be put to sleep. If she was treated properly by these money hungry people at Millbrook she may very well still be here. We never even got a call from "Dr David" to check on her. If you are reading this I hope you know that you single handedly broke our hearts. read more

This vet is solely focused on money-we took our dog here from when she was a puppy and liked it until our pup got sick (not their fault) however the way they handled it was terrible. We went in telling them her symptoms and what was going on. They offered to do an ultrasound and x ray so we agreed. They however FAILED to tell us before that our dog was too small for their machine to pick anything up. We ended up having to pay $700 for no answers and went to the emergency vet the next day. The emergency vet then told us that her past blood tests (from millbrook) showed very high bile acid levels which indicate a liver shunt. We had to go to a specialist immediately as our dog was losing weight quickly and getting very nostalgic. I understand this is not millbrooks fault that our dog was sick however it is their fault for not disclosing these high numbers to us. If we would have known sooner that her numbers were high we could have helped her earlier. Instead she was just getting sick all the time and we had no idea why. Safe to say we ended up switching vets and they got us on a medical plan for our dog and she is now happier than ever. I would not bring my animal here, and if you do make sure you're looking up their bloodwork yourself because google could have done a better job giving me answers than this vet. read more

My pit mix who has never shown any signs of aggression was boarded here for 6 days. While dropping him off they put a slip leash around his neck and pulled him into the back, he growled. Waited a few lady came back said all was good. He is five years old and never has been boarded. I said multiple times if any issues please call us, we will get him picked up. Sent brother in law to pick him up on a Sunday three employees would not handle him, had my brother in law go back to get him, no issues. I called and asked how he was taken care of they really could not give me answers. When I asked if he ever went outside if he was showing stress they could not give me that answer either! I have had two negative visits in a row this year in 2024. Earlier this year, I brought my dog in for a mole removal and dental assessment for a possible cleaning. One veterinarian said yes to the cleaning and mole removal under anesthesia and ordered the preliminary bloodwork. They confirmed the procedure the day before, then the day of the procedure, I was made aware after I dropped off my dog by a different veterinarian that all the blood work didn't come in and they couldn't do the procedure. This second vet also said my dog's teeth looked okay and didn't recommend the cleaning. So I picked my dog up after he had already been held in the back waiting to prep to start. Secondly, this week I brought my dog in for anal glands and nail clipping. After, I picked up my dog, left the facility, then noticed one dew claw was not clipped, but definitely needed it since it catches on everything. I drove my dog back and asked them to do the last dew claw. One girl came out to say they couldn't clip his nails any shorter and that the dog had taken off his own muzzle and tried to bite them. (My dog is a 15-1b chihuahua/beagle). I then pointed out again it was the one remaining dew claw that I was asking about only, not for shorter nails. I then asked can they sedate him? And they had no answer for me. I asked again, can you please do the dew claw since it was missed. They did it then brought my dog out and said "he wasn't very happy about that" in a very snotty way to me. The tech missed the dew claw initially, and I was not respected. Things were great there until they were not! We brought our dog there for 5 years for routine visits which was fine but when he got very sick they were unable to see just how sick he was. We rushed him to a emergency hospital after leaving Millbrook and they diagnosed him within 10 minutes! First and only vet whose policy is not to renew my dogs heart worm medication unless I had them do an $81.00 test. I had him tested. a year ago because of this, and of course since he's had a monthly dose of this medication every month of his life he was of course negative. in trying to renew his prescription I was forced to take this same test again for another $81.00 for no reason except excess profit gouging! We have brought both our dogs and cat to Millbrook. They treat your pets with care and respect, and the owners too. Even a recent emergency was handled well, as our dog cut his ear bad enough to create considerable bleeding. The doctor stitched him up with minimum sedation, and the support staff helped calm down our sometimes reactive pet through both the examination and recovery. Our pup wound up wearing a wrap to keep his injured ear from getting worse, and it's all worked out. The price for these services was quite fair. I recommend this clinic quite highly. read more

i use to love young there but what has happened in the last three weeks is frustrating. my 9 year old stayeyed walking weird in his behind legs went to go see Dr Jill examend him did a blood test and gave him some meds. 2 days after she looked at his legs my husband finds a big lump so I go back she says she noticed it (I don't think she did) took blood and sent it in. that was on the july 2. We've only been with Millbrook for a few months now with our new puppy, but they've been excellent to work with.

My boyfriend previously lived in Batavia and took our dog here for all of his needs. Although we moved 35-40 minutes away, we still take our dog here for care.... the doctors and staff are THAT good. Employees are comforting and kind. They are always very nice and patient with our cattle dog. I love that they take their time when starting treatment to pet and play with the dogs, so that the animals feel more at ease and less stressed. To add, the environment is very clean and sanitary (I.e smells good, no fur all over the floor). Lastly, I think the candle in the front (lit when someone is saying bye to their pet) is a special touch. I would highly recommend this vet. We tried another vet closer to us, but they just did not compare to this establishment!! read more

Your furry baby's comfort is always there number 1 priority. Our Josie loves going there (even for shots) because everyone there cares and it shows. The ladies at the front welcome you with a smile (don't see that much anymore), and are extremely kind and proficient. All the techs will treat your furry baby like they are the only one that matters. Josie is particularly fond of Eli. What a fine young man with such a caring heart. All the doctors are Fantastic and you will know your baby is well taken care of. Josie has seen Dr. David her entire life and loves being around him and lets him do whatever is needed because he shows loving tenderness to her. Please do not take your pet here for grooming. I brought my cat in the morning for her 11:00 appointment for her twice yearly grooming. I dropped her off at 10:45 AM, and when I hadn't received a call by 3:45 that her grooming was complete, I called and asked when she would be ready. The girl I spoke to on the phone checked with the groomer and said it would be no more than 40 minutes more, and they would call when she was ready. When and hour passed and I STILL had not heard from them, I drove over. Needless to say, I was livid. My poor cat had probably been in her carrier for 5 of the 6 hours she was there! All I got from the front desk was excuse after excuse. "The groomer was late, they had to do two dogs first, perhaps I should call next time and make sure the groomer is running on time," etc, etc. That is pure BS. One would think when the appointment is scheduled, the facility would MAKE SURE they have plenty of time to work on your pet. I didn't get an apology or anything. But you can bet they charged me the full 175.00 to cut her hair. Please, don't bring your animals here for grooming. It is obvious there is a problem with both scheduling and employees. Oh, and now my cat is doing something she's never done before. She's dragging her butt across the carpet like a dog and crying. I'd bring her back to find out what's wrong, but I'm sure they'd charge me an exhorbitent fee and say she's fine. read more

I would highly suggest finding a different ring of pet clinics! This facility is only money driven! The personal is very rude and not familiar with any of their own policy and procedures. No receipts or documentation given when leaving and attitude when it was requested! When calling to speak with manager was told unavailable every time when calling lost my business and anyone I can tell about the service they provide!! When calling and finally getting in touch with a if you want a call a manager, she stated that I harassed her employees and cursed at them which a is a lie. I can see why she was told that as employee didn't want to get in trouble for there action or lack of. Bottom line anytime I have ever left a vet I have received documentation of the visit and your office failed to do so point blank and I still do not have any documentation. I guess it's easier to "FIRE" a client then give what one is entitled to. Maybe because dog wasn't seen and just given back I don't know. What type of business uses the term "Fire" a client. I am sure they know us well here as we have been struggling with Pema's separation anxiety issues since we got her. The doctors have been so understanding and patient with us and we finally have her on a medication that has really helped her so much. I was so anxious for awhile with neighbors complaining about her howling saying they were going to call animal control. But they reassured me that we would figure this out. This is by far the best vet we have ever gone to. Dr Kaufman is so accommodating and knowledgeable! He is happy for us to text him photos or videos before we decide to bring our dog or cat in to see him in person. The visits are quick and thorough and our pets love going there (he gives them a treat or two sometimes). When other vets told us nothing was wrong with our puppy, Dr Kaufman diagnosed a urinary infection and prescribed medicine that was super noticeably helpful within 2 days. I actually liked this Vet's office until I boarded my dog Foxy for a week and they didn't take her out for fresh air because someone overlooked that I paid for this and then to find out at the end of the week she hadn't received time outside in addition to her treats I was furious, to say the least. I tried to give them another opportunity to make things right by sending my puppy there to be groomed only to be lied to when I picked her up they said she'd urinated on herself to cover up a gash they'd made in her foot while grooming her!
