Ordered a half-batch of gender reveal cupcakes so my boyfriend and I could celebrate the news of our new baby with a little special moment together! I asked my doctor for the gender in a little envelope and dropped it off at Batch. The great thing about this bakery, aside from the fresh ingredients, is that you can order however many cupcakes you want, you don't have to get 12. I almost just ordered two because it's just the two of us, but decided to get six so we could surprise some relatives over facetime and share with our neighbors. I picked their gluten free pumpkin cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. SOOOOO AMAZING! They were moist, perfectly spiced and you could definitely taste the pumpkin. The frosting stayed very creamy too, even on day three the cakes were still fresh and moist. As someone who reacts to wheat, I was nervous about cross contamination in their kitchen where they also use flour. I didn't have a reaction, which leads me to believe they are very safe when it comes to keeping allergens separate from gluten free recipes. The baker was kind enough to fill the cupcake with frosting representing the sex of our baby! They even decorated them with little yellow pins, such a nice touch. We hiked them down to our favorite Tahoe spot and took the biggest bites we could to see what we were having. The owner gave us samples of the cupcakes we wanted, she put them in a plastic container, she said they were made that morning. I used to frequent Batch when they were on California Avenue, something about the weather had cupcakes calling my name. I called to see what the procedures were and was told we can order by phone or come in and pick them out. I couldn't find an actual menu with pictures and since I like to see what I'm grabbing I figure walk on in. The shops was set up in a very strategic way in terms of social distancing. Just about everything is blocked off, but there was a clean menu with a dry erase marker to select your choices. There is room for one person to be in there at one time. I was greeted right away. I ended up ordering 6 cupcakes to share. One strawberry, mocha, cookie dough, and three milk n cookies. All were very moist and full of flavor but not being excessively sweet! I found it helpful that there was note saying these are meant to eat right away, if not store in a Tupperware,since some were for others that's exact what I did and they kept well! Usually my go-to joint whenever I'm in Reno to grab a sweet treat whenever i'm visiting. They're a cupcake bakery with vegan selections. Usually they have a handful of vegan cupcake offering and my absolutely favorite is the vegan pumpkin whoopie pie. Everyone friendly, vegan options have been terrific. It may be hit or miss at times with their selection. I can't speak for the non-vegan options. Would've been 5 stars but a few times i've entered they only had one vegan cupcake option shortly after opening (usually 4-5 of them) and the vegan whoopie pie has dramatically lowered in size (nearly half smaller) for the same price. I love the cupcakes here! I got the Champagne and Sweetheart cupcakes and they were so moist and soft. The flavors were not overly done and had just enough sweetness baked into them. I also bought their doggie treats for my brothers dog and she inhaled both biscuits in a second. The cupcakes were super fresh and stayed that way for a couple of days. They have a lot of gluten free and vegan options on top of their regular cupcakes. To sum up my experience with Batch, I just have to say... Rockstars. After having a terrible, and I do mean terrible experience talking with...another...bakery in town, I decided to call Batch up. At the...other... bakery, I was laughed at...and told I'd need to give at least "a few weeks notice" for three dozen cupcakes. I called Batch from the parking lot of the other bakery, and was greeted by an awesome employee! Very nice guy who's name is escaping me, (sad face)...however he answered all my questions I had. We drove there right away to look at cupcake options for the birthday party! After arriving, the same employee greeted me and talked with me about all the different choices he thought would be great for a six year olds bday. He even offered to deliver our cupcakes for us if we needed! That was nice to hear seeing as how I had been chuckled at by the other bakery in town for even asking about cupcakes. We decided on M&M, Lemon and Red Velvet. They were amazing!!! All the cupcakes were perfect when we received them, however the heat in my car on the drive from Reno to Gardnerville where the party was, made my Res Velvet frosting a bit melty. However they were still delicious! They were a huge hit at the party and even the employees at the venue we were at, asked us where we got them. Which I gladly replied Batch! Your average grocery store has better cupcakes than this place. We had a cake pop and a s'mores cupcake, neither of which were paleo or matched any kind of dietary restriction. Both were very dry and it was almost bizarre how little the cupcake tasted like chocolate... both items basically just tasted like generic bread with a little chocolate flavor added.
