Ordered a cake from here earlier this year, finally got around to reviewing because talk of this cake continues to come up in conversation to this day! I hadn't read the reviews before ordering, as I was frantic in trying to find a bakery that could do a small custom cake less than 24 hours before my Mother-in-Law's birthday. I was desperate and willing to take anything, and Leigh Anne was very sweet and patient with me on the phone. We settled on the Carrot L-Orange cake (heavenly). I forget the exact size, but I remember she said it would feed ~6 people which was perfect, and truly it could have fed up to 12+ people as that's how many servings we got out of it. That cake was tall, flavor-packed, and very rich. The complimentary carrot, nutmeg, and orange flavors had a warm spice that had me questioning why it had been over a decade since I last had carrot cake! It is criminally underrated in my peer group, or at least it was until we had this one. You know you've got a great recipe when even the folks who 'don't want any cake/don't like sweets' start eyeing it to make sure there's some left for them to try, and especially when they ask if they can take a to-go slice back home because they know someone who just HAS to try it. I've been wanting to try a cake from here for a long time. I honestly feel Reno doesn't have the best cake options so when I heard about this highly rated location I knew I had to try it. The ordering process was smooth and pick up was a breeze. The cake looked amazing. I took it home that fateful Saturday morning and we sliced it that afternoon. While we were enjoying the delicious chocolate cake with raspberry filling I smelled something cooking. I looked outside and said "oh lord Jesus it's a fire!" The Davis fire in south Reno had just started and was growing fast. We all got alerts on our phones to evacuate and we started packing in a hurry. By the time we had some valuables and luggage ready to go the police were at the door telling us to head out. Well on the way out I saw the cake. We booked Delicious Designs to make our wedding cake in October 2023. The owner of Delicious Designs, Leigh Anne, and her team are so amazing to work with and extremely talented! You can't go wrong when you choose them! They were so helpful from the minute we booked them. First, we had a tasting shortly after booking, and the cake flavors are to die for!!! During the tasting, Leigh Anne worked with us to pick a cake size that stayed within our budget but was also able to feed all our guests. Her input was so helpful! During the tasting, as hard as it was to choose flavors, we went with Berry Champagne for one tier and Lemon Lovers for the other--highly recommended, especially the Berry Champagne! It's amazing! As we got close to the wedding, I decided to add some desserts, including macrons purchased through Delicious Designs(so good) and chocolate chip cookies. What I really appreciated is that Leigh Anne helped me decide how many to order, to make sure I wasn't breaking the bank. We cut back on cake in order to have more cookies and we had the perfect amount! If she hadn't made suggestions, we would have spent way more than needed. On the day of the wedding, she worked great with our florist to decorate the cake. When I saw it, I was in awe that a cake could be so beautiful. It was the most beautiful cake I had ever seen. Guests loved both the look and the taste! We had so many comments and the cookies were also a hit! Additionally, since my husband had to leave the tasting early to get to a 49-er game(lol, diehard 49er's fan), Leigh Anne had the great idea to surprise him with a box of hand-decorated 49er cookies on his place setting the day of the wedding. He absolutely loved them. He didn't want to eat them at first because of how great the design was, but the minute he bit into one, he couldn't stop! I ordered a cake for the daughter's bridal shower. Leigh Anne was very easy to work with. We discussed flavors and I sent her a few pics with some general ideas I had for the decorations. I ended up ordering a champagne cake with raspberry filling. I had 12 women at the shower, Leighanne advised that an 8" cake would be fine but since I had the spouses of those 12 women hanging out downstairs I went for the 10" cake. The cake looked beautiful and tasted ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Everyone loved it. Sometimes pretty cakes are just pretty but don't taste all that great. That was not the case here. The cake was moist, the filling delicious slightly tart raspberry, and the cake cut beautifully. My daughter and guests were thrilled with the cake. My husband said "the cake was fantastic!" I recently ordered a custom cake and cookies for a 20 year anniversary celebration event at the Jack C. Davis Observatory on the Western Nevada College campus in Carson City, Nevada. We were absolutely blown away by the creativity and quality of Delicious Design's products which helped make our event a real success! Leigh Anne and her staff did an amazing job. She was very easy to work with and immediately knew what I wanted in the way of a 'galaxy' design for the cake. She recommended doing the frosting in buttercream instead of a drip technique (which she said could be very messy) and the end result was an amazing looking cake that tasted delicious! (Actually one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever tasted!) The cookies were a thick, rich shortbread, one in the shape of a star with a galaxy design and the other was a planet cookie with our 20 year logo on it. We cannot recommend Delicious Designs enough. Leigh Anne was an absolute joy to work with! It's SO hard to find someone who can make the cake look gorgeous, taste great, and be affordable, but that's what Delicious Designs does! We got married in South Lake Tahoe and were originally looking for bakers in that area so that we wouldn't have to pay a delivery fee. However, everywhere we looked was SO expensive. Then we stumbled upon Delicious Designs and are SO happy we chose to order not only our cake but other desserts through Leigh Anne. We went to the shop in Reno to do a tasting and got to choose 8 different flavors to taste. They were all so delicious that deciding was pretty hard. We ended up choosing to do two flavors for our two-tier cake (there was no price difference), one being my husband's favorite and the other being my favorite. For my design vision, I wanted to have an ombre effect and had been told by other bakers that this would mean I would have to have a fondant cake, which is more expensive. Leigh Anne was able to make the ombre work with buttercream so that we didn't need to do fondant, and it was absolutely beautiful AND tasted delicious. We also ended up ordering cookies, mini cupcakes, and brownies as well. These were so great and our guests raved about the cookies. Leigh Anne was so flexible because while our venue wasn't able to provide dessert platters for these items, she gave me a fixed price to pay (it was very reasonable) and ended up ordering platters for me that went with our design and decor and were enough to fit all the dessert items. We also got a figurine of our dog made that we wanted included on the cake. We mailed this to Leigh Anne and then she set this up on the cake before delivery. It was SO cute!! She had a delivery fee from Reno to South Shore that was very affordable, and delivery and setup went so smoothly. Working with Leigh Anne has been great. As a small business owner, she has a lot on her plate and sometimes it's easy to forget she has to do it all. The beginning of our communication started with an email to her website. After we exchanged a couple of emails, we had a phone call to discuss details of the dessert bar and cake options. While on a call, Leigh Anne shared how much of each item we needed and how big of a cake we needed based on our expected guest count. After we made the selection of desserts to have, we got a tasting box of cake flavors. Leigh Anne asked us to make a few cake flavor selections from her website and she would prepare a box for me to pick up. Due to COVID she isn't doing in person tasing appointments. Come the day of our wedding Leigh Anne and her team set up the dessert bar. We got nothing but compliments on all of the desserts, especially the Cheesecake Cups with Raspberry coulis.
