There were many servers around and yet they seemed to not really be attending to the tables. It took atleast 10 minutes to even get a server. Our server took our order but someone else brought the food and someone else brought the check. It was weird. Our original server didn't even come by to see if we wanted another round and we had to ask them to bring water which seems basic. We asked for oysters to be brought out before main entree and everything was brought out together. It's noisy. The restaurant itself is cool looking. The food was just ok. I've been to Batch for brunch. I've been to Batch for happy hour. I applaud both of these at this establishment that took over for The Alchemist after they closed. Batch delivers with their whiskey and drink selection, as well as their food menu offerings. There hasn't been a dish I've ordered yet I haven't liked. Brunch, they ace. Having had items like the Southern Crispy Chicken Breakfast with Deviled Eggs, Candied Bacon, and homemade biscuits, Batch has this meal down pat. Their Heartland Bloody Mary is also legitimate and good, full of happiness and life in the day light. Happy Hour is terrific at Batch, having half off most whiskeys and other spirits that are normally $13 or less per serving, as well as select cocktails. They offer $6 bar bites like 3 oysters (raw or baked), bacon-wrapped tater tots, deviled eggs, amongst others. The baked oysters and taters are phenomenal, as well as the eggs -- you will be placing multiple orders with the bartender. Being a whiskey drinker, I applaud their selection. You can't go wrong with labels like E.H Taylor and Michter's to name a couple. They house Japanese whiskeys like Suntory, which is also really good. The only drawback is the acoustics, something that was a challenge for The Alchemist when they were in the space. Once you have more than a score of people inside -- 20 for those unaware of the use of definition, the sound becomes quite noisy. You will be most likely to find parking the garage on the corner of Olive and Banyan, with street spots available should you be lucky at whatever time of day it is. I did a quick trip to West Palm Beach yesterday. I think it's cool to go to different cities and try different food. I want to give a 3.8. Lol Guest Service: The guest service was really good. Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and had good suggestions overall, it was overall good hospitality. Food: So let's talk about the food. I ordered the deviled eggs as my appetizer. Let me give you a little background about deviled eggs so that you can make your own decision. I am very picky when it comes to the filling because I like a sweet and savory taste, and this filling had more of a savory taste so I didn't like them but my waitress was nice and I asked her if I could swap (which I never do) them for the biscuits with honey. Let me tell you about these biscuits, they were really good maybe I haven't had a good biscuit from scratch but I can tell they put a lot of emphasis on the whole presentation of the biscuit from the butter to the honey to the jam. I also got to try the cinnamon rolls which were pretty good but for my personal preference, I like the biscuits better. For my main course, I got fried chicken with grits and sausage gravy and it was okay. Do I need to go back to get it again? No, but it wasn't terrible at all. I just feel like the sausage gravy could have had more flavor to it and the chicken could've been crisper. But I also think it's because I got the grits instead of the potatoes and the grits made it a little soggy. Clean: The restaurant was clean, but when I was looking into the restaurant I saw a little bit of debris out front and they had just opened which was annoying to me, but it wasn't over the top. It wasn't crazy. I'm just a little OCD, other than that in the restaurant everything was clean. It was a little tight on space but enough to be comfortable, I like the vibe of the restaurant so I didn't care about spacing. Overall would I go back to the restaurant again? This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, for several reasons. First, we arrived and found they were not serving their lunch menu and instead were only serving brunch (unexpected since it was a weekday but we understood since it was a holiday). We specifically selected this restaurant because of the diverse lunch menu given the different diets of our party, and were disappointed to find the brunch menu was 3 pages of alcohol and one page of food (mostly breakfast). Important to note we couldn't have simply called to inquire about this because as I later learned - they never answer their phone. We were also rudely informed upon arrival that our table had a 90 minute limit and we would need to be out after 90 minutes. We asked for straws for our waters, since given the pandemic it's a little gross to put your mouth on a restaurant glass... we were told they had no straws, but saw many other patrons with straws (which we eventually got by asking another employee). The service was slow which we understood given the holiday, but since our 90 minute clock was ticking it was a little annoying. Our food came and some of it was totally inedible (I.e. burnt bacon, unidentifiable items). My mom's salad came out with dressing on top instead of on the side. They replaced it but it took about 15 minutes and arrived at our 75 minute mark - good thing she can chew fast! The hostess kept coming by with her iPad and staring like she was timing us. I was the only one who enjoyed the food (the chicken and waffles was delicious so I'll give them props for that - I wouldn't say it was worth $22 though). In addition, this place was much louder and rowdier than we expected. In summary - this is more of a bar than a restaurant. If you're looking to drink and party (for less than 90 minutes), this may be for you. If you're looking for a dignified meal with family and friends, I'd look elsewhere. read more

Parking was easy (and free, on a Sunday) at the City lot around the corner. The restaurant features an open layout with light pouring from the front. I was part of a large party, and we were seated in the very middle of the entire joint at a long table with stools. Our waiter was patient and prompt, giving each of us separate bills without any problems and handling order mishaps with grace. I drank a bellini; it was ok. I will try one of their hand-mixed sodas next time instead (so many cool-looking options!) I ordered the crab cake benedict. It wasn't very appealing to look at; my potatoes were so curled and browned that they almost looked unappealing, but they were good! I feel silly admitting this, but I wasn't a huge fan of the biscuits. I couldn't locate the thyme that was supposed to be in them, and although they did taste like my mother's biscuits, she always used Bisquick, and that's not really what I was going for! We picked a table in the back, but the hostess alerted us that that section was closed because the server for that section was running late and there would be no one to serve us. It was a little bit of a red flag but I'm glad I ignored it because the service was smooth sailing from there. She sat us by the bar in the front, which wasn't bad at all. A waitress came by and started us off with some drinks. The drinks were a little pricey for the size but it is what it is. Then my friend and I really got into the menu and were excited by what we saw. We were both mesmerized by the mac & cheese section of the menu and that you could customize your toppings! We both topped ours with chicken and bacon, I added some truffle oil on mines. Delicious. I also ordered shrimp & grits which I definitely recommend as well, so gooey and delicious and the shrimp had an amazing flavor. Take everything you think you know about bacon and tater tots, then multiply it by breading and a deep fryer. What you end up with is something exponentially better than anything I expected. Moving on to main courses, making a selection gets even more difficult. The southern theme isn't just in the decor. Shrimp 'n grits. Chicken 'n waffles. Root beer braised short ribs. Burgers. Brisket sandwich. Oh, baby! It all sounds so good! Where have you been all my life?? But wait - what's this? Something called Mac Attack - Cavatappi Mac, Smoked Cheddar & Gouda, "Spicy" Frito Dust. But wait, there's more! Optional add-ons for the Mac allow for lots of creativity. I opted to layer 6 oz. of strip steak and whiskey caramelized onion atop my creamy, cheesy pasta goodness, and it was rapturous! After going for dinner, brunch was the next on the list. A friend of mine wanted to host her first UYE and I doubled up on the fun co-hosting with her.
