This was my second visit to Fern. My first was when it was Fern Street Eatery and I was underwhelmed. This visit was amazing. We started with the gnocchi and the mushroom apps and they were phenomenal. The gnocchi will definitely be something I'd come back for. And not share. For the main we had the special cowboy cut rib eye and there are no words for how good it was. Seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection, and the fire left the perfect char on every piece. We had fingerling potatoes and asparagus as sides and they were also good but nothing too out of the ordinary. Dessert was marshmallows and also the chocolate cake and both were good but probably the weakest course. Service was on point. The manager checked in on us as well. Will definitely be retuning though not too frequently as it did get pricey. read more

Truly an amazing experience here!! My favorite dishes were definitely the mushrooms and the prime picanha. The mushrooms had such a great variety and were served with chestnut, black trumpet, golden oyster, fingerling potato, English pea, and heirloom tomato. The picanha with chimichurri risotto and charred corn rib was also amazing. Our group also tried the braised Akaushi ravioli (which was on the special menu and had a sweet pea and brown butter mushroom glaze), the chicken fried rice, local swordfish, and the black garlic dry-aged NY strip. Everything was really well done. You can tell a lot of thought goes into the ingredients and presentation. The drinks were also great and paired perfectly with dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has such a cool atmosphere. There's an art gallery inside the dining room, and I loved the open-air kitchen where you can see everything happening. They also have a really nice patio outside. It was hot and raining when we went, so we didn't sit out there, but I would definitely love to come back and enjoy the patio another time! We were celebrating a birthday, and Cody, the GM, and Rosa, our server, were both fantastic and really made our night. They both were extremely knowledgeable about the menu and so helpful when we were deciding what to order. It really felt like an elevated experience. My first time at The Fern was a 5/5 experience! here's a little back story they been in WPB downtown for 7 years. It was packed so they are doing something right. What I love is that they use Wagyu beef and pork from their own ranch, Rancher's Reserve, and partner with local Florida farms and they offer a true southern hospitality. Check out their other location called the Steak shop off of Dixie Hwy. The service and atmosphere were Exceptional. Shoutout to Cody and our waiter for being so welcoming, patient, and sharing the history of the ranch. Now here's what we ordered: Akaushi Hanger Steak: Served with truffle crema, cowboy butter, and tallow-cooked sweet potato frites that melt in your mouth. Crispy, buttery, and the best sweet potatoes ever. I'd return just for this! Berkshire Rib Chop: My husband swapped the broccolini for an assorted carrots with apricot purée, wood-fired onion, and black garlic molasses. We are picky with steak temperatures and had to send ours back, but our waiter (wish I could remember his name) he was amazing and had it remade exactly right. Everything was seasoned perfectly! Other than a hair too much ground mustard, it was terrific - flavorful, perfectly ground and presented nicely. Our three steaks were uniformly good - perfectly cooked and a nice texture. The cherry tomatoes on the side were a nice touch. I ordered the cowboy butter on mine; also very nice. The swordfish served on black rice was equally delicious. Our sides (asparagus and broccolini) were also very good. The restaurant has a nice quirky feel to it. Unusual artwork on the walls. The tables well spaced and the chairs not too uncomfortable. (I'm 6' 4" so restaurant chairs are almost always too low.). Our server, Jesse, was excellent. He made nice suggestions and checked back on us several times without hovering. It was pretty noisy inside, but the outdoor patio was comfortable and quiet. Unfortunately, there's the worst: The kitchen. They ran out of decaf days ago. They ran out of the bourbon that I ordered and didn't tell the wait staff. Then there is the arrogant, self important chef. No changes allowed - even my friend asking to have the swordfish (on the menu) put on top of the salad (already on the menu). We asked about substituting the orange reduction on the burrata because of an allergy... no chance. So, as good as the food and service were, we won't be back. read more

I stopped by for happy hour and Fern was truly a delight! Every item I had was full of flavor and a thoughtful experience. I grabbed a Crackers Harvest (bloody mary) to start. Beware, it has a bit of a kick to it but was still lovely and not as heavy as a normal bloody mary. Even the garnishes of the basil infused tomato packed a punch. The Red Snapper Ceviche was phenomenal. It was very well balanced with citrus, pickled veggies, and peppers. Hands down the best ceviche I've had. 2nd round I went for the Shoyu Picanha paired with a High Noon In-Fern-O (spicy margarita). The dijon mustard cream was luscious with the tender picanha. The In-Fern-O definitely leaned into the spice which may be surprising to those who aren't ready for it. I finished with the Pork Belly Burnt Ends and a Pisco Sour at the recommendation of the bartender. Both were exceptional. The hot honey and pickled veggies balanced the perfectly cooked pork belly. And the pisco sour which could have been too bitter was expertly crafted to not be overpowering. Speaking of beverages, Amber at the bar was a pleasure! She was knowledgeable and helpful throughout the experience. I loved the vibe, the food, and the staff. Definitely worth a visit if you're in West Palm. read more

The strip was hyped up quite a bit due to its dry age and flavor profile for it to be a little tough and lacking in that aged flavor. The fingerling potatoes were under seasoned and not crispy. Easily my fave meal in Palm Beach. There wasn't a single item that wasn't delicious. The squash blossoms are an absolute must to start. The goat cheese in them make it an absolutely amazing starter. My fave main dish is the cobia coconut curry. The sweet potato was delicious and it packed so much flavor. Everything is also so fresh. And service was great! It's really tough to get into any restaurant in WPB during season without a reservation. I stumbled into this semi-remote stand alone restaurant, and although it was already buzzing, I was able to get a table for 2 without any wait. I love farm to table restaurants, and was very eager to try a few items on the menu. The server recommended the goat cheese zucchini blossoms and I also ordered the duck with fried rice. It was all cooked perfectly and tasted really fresh! Pricing was affordable and the staff was very attentive Can't wait to go back and try a couple other items on the menu! read more

I got a $90 steak, they cut it ahead of time and give it to you on the plate cut so therefore you would think that the chefs could see that it was completely overdone however, they serve it to you anyway, then they bring me another steak and the steak is completely raw, terrible service, terrible kitchen, two other people that I was with their meat, came out completely overdone well done nothing that they asked for they re-cooked theirs too, thought I'd like this place, but I'll never go back again read more

Add Fern to your list of WPB places to eat if you haven't already! The Food was 5+! The Rib Chop was amazing. The snapper and center cut sirloin were excellent. Not a single morsel was left on anyone's plate. Our server Brandon was a 5+. Super attentive without being intrusive. Great enthusiasm helping us celebrate our reason for dining. The atmosphere was 4.5. Another review mentioned a smoky smell. It's true. Not offensive or eye watering but most noticeable when you first walk in. Not a deterrent. The sound level was a 4. At the height of the evening almost every table was full so it did get a bit loud but we were able to converse without shouting. A louder voice is needed though. The space between ordering and delivery was a bit long. I would rate that a 4. But it was super busy and once we tasted the food - it was agreed the wait was well worth it. The cocktail sizes were a bit smaller than average but for a downtown location they were pretty much on target. All in all a great experience. We look forward to going back again! read more

This was such an experience. The restaurant was filled with beautiful and interesting artwork, the staff was attentive and knowledgeable and the food was chefs kiss. We were greeted and seated by an amazing host and our server, Rosa, was phenomenal. She was very very helpful in the ordering process and helped us make some awesome selections. We started with the cheese and meats board, everything was local, farm to table. Perfect. Then we orders drinks, can't remember the name.. but it was delicious. Our entrees come out and I am simple amazed. Whoever thought to put short ribs with sweet potatoes is a genius! The owner, or whom I assumed to be, came over to our table to make sure we were having a good experience, which we were and he even gave us a play by play on how the short rib dish came about! Food - 5 stars Ambiance & Value - 4 stars Service - 2 stars I have eaten here twice and both times, the food was very tasty. The farm to table quality is clearly demonstrated. The ambiance is good with nice outdoor seating and bar seating that lets you see directly into the kitchen but the excessive smoke has you smelling like the kitchen by the time you leave any where you sit inside. The biggest issue is the service. The first time, the service was fine. A basic level of attention and nothing more. However, when I came here with a friend and we sat at the bar, the server was disrespectful, insulting and actually made us feel like we needed to take care of her. She was fairly friendly when we sat down but by the end of the night, that morphed into a highly disrespectful and rude demeanor. The first off-putting comment came when my friend mentioned that he thought there would be a bigger portion of the steak. She responds with "well I told you that you should've ordered the other option and you didn't listen to me." Okay, that was unpleasant but it gets worse. We asked for salt and she didn't bring it but came back a few minutes later and we had to remind her. Things really broke down when the bill came. We asked her to split the apps and I'd take care of my order (two drinks and a main) and my friend would pay for his (one main). Apparently this was more than she could handle and she said "I'll give you the receipt and you tell me how you want to split it", indicating her irritation. Fine, we then told her and then she gave us three separate receipts (appetizers, mine, and his). So I put down my card for my bill and my friend put his down for the appetizers and his meal. The server then became nasty and stated that she was very busy and we could've just split it like that in the first place. Well, at normal restaurants, you can split items but you can't here? Finally, the cherry on top. She asks my friend very rudely where his credit card is so she could charge it. He said he gave it to her. She said no he didn't and he checks his wallet and again let her know that he gave it to her. She insists that he did not and clearly frustrated, rummages through the receipts in front of her. She then actually finds it, doesn't apologize, charges the card and walks off. My recommendation is that if you do decide to come here, avoid the bar. read more

Did not have a reservation and we ate at the bar. The bartender was extremely gregarious and pleasant. We had a mock cocktail and a regular cocktail and a glass of wine. The wine list could be a little bit more international, as all the wines that were offered were domestic. However, they make it up in the food quality. Every dish that we ordered was exquisite and delicately prepared. There was a unique sense of flavor and detail to attention with each dish. Highly recommend to order several appetizers and share them amongst your group. You should finish off your meal with one of the wonderful steaks and share them as well. Being at the bar offered the Entertainment of facing the kitchen. The efficiency and the speed of the kitchen staff is remarkable. I had such a great experience there. The food was absolutely delicious, everything turned out so good. And the short rib was one of the best I've ever had, it was so soft and juicy. Our server took the time to answer any questions we had and gave some great recommendations. The only downside of this experience was the fact that this restaurant is really close to the train track so whenever the train was passing by, it got really loud and vibrated a little bit. Went to fern last night at 8:15 pm with 7 people. Was told we had to wait 20 minutes before our table was ready. We did not receive our entrees until 11:15 pm. We had to flag the manager several times to try and figure out what was going and was disrespected verbally by the chef who looked like he was on cocaine. We spent almost a grand and nothing was comped despite the terrible service and terrible attitude from the kitchen and manager. They should have offered to cover our drinks or entrees at the very least. Absolute worst dining experience I've had in wpb and it ruined our special reunion. Would not recommend. read more

Just wow! We had the most wonderful dinner here last night. We sat outside on the patio which has a lovely atmosphere. Great service provided by Bella. But the real star of the show was the food! Please extend our compliments to the chef. It has been a while since we have had food this good! We tried a bunch of different items such as the bone marrow, pork belly, & tri-tip appetizers. We shared the linguine as our entree and JUST WOW! Everything was delicious. I don't even have photos to share because I was too focused on eating delicious food. Outstanding place - easy some of the best food in the West Palm Beach area, with an incredible wine menu to match. We have been here a few times, and everything has been 10/10. We always sit at the bar and have either a bottle of wine or a few glasses, and a few appetizers. (They have such a fun, unique menu with lots of local options). We love the chef's table experience - and the fact that the server is always the chef and knows all about the ingredients they use in their restaurant. They get their meats from a local farmer about 30 minutes away and is of the utmost quality. The ambiance itself is really cool, it has a farm to table feel mixed with a funky trendy 'where the cool kids go' coffee shop feel. The staff here have all been extremely friendly. The offer events from time to time here too - like wine pairings. It's a bit similar to the Beacon in Jupiter if you're from the area. First time at this wine bar, and thoroughly enjoyed both the wine and the food!! One of the best restaurants in WPB. We sat at the bar (full service), and Sergio was our waiter (he was super nice!!). It's pretty cool to sit and watch them preparing a lot of the food in front of you, and the wood fire oven in the center is a nice touch. You also have the option to sit outside, or at a table in the actual restaurant. Ambiance is 10/10. For appetizers we ordered the "Farm Board", the poke stack, and the squash blossoms. The Farm Board consisted of 4 cheeses (the blue cheese and homemade ricotta were my favorite!!!), honeycomb, apricot and fig jam, mini carrots and grapes, mustard, and 4 meats (2 smoked and cured in house), bread and crackers. I thought the board was delicious, only recommendation would be MORE cheese!! Felt like too small of an amount. The squash blossoms were stuffed with goat cheese and jalapenos, with honeycomb on top. They were lightly battered (chef is GREAT with the flash fryer; difficult to master) and the flavor profile was amazing. Some of the best squash blossoms I've ever had. The poke stack was fresh cobia, tempura rice (again, deep fried to perfection), avocado, cucumber, wakame, hoisin, and chipotle aioli. Thought the flavors blended together well, and the smaller 2 stacks off the happy hour menu were plenty for 2 people. For dinner we ordered one of the cuts of meat for the night, the sirloin (3 different steaks to choose from). The steak was thin, sliced, and covered in chimichurri sauce; it was tender, juicy, and seasoned-well. Only critique was we ordered medium rare, and the VERY center piece may have been the correct temp, but the outer pieces were a little over cooked. The restaurant sources all of its ingredients locally, and the meat (beef and pork) is from their own ranch, Rancher's Reserve (antibiotic and hormone free). Daily happy hour from 4-7 pm (small bites & drinks), including weekends, BOGO oysters on Tuesdays, and half off ALL wine bottles on Wednesdays!! My husband and I enjoyed a nice dinner here, and the weather was cooperative enough that sitting outside was pleasant. Their outdoor seating is within an enclosure so it provides some privacy from the street and the illusion of safety from any sketchy passersby. The menu had some interesting plates, but we ultimately decided to start with the charcuterie and ended up being quite full from it, that all we had room for at the end was some dessert. It was a great board, all the meats and cheeses and veggies were sourced from local farms - there was even local jam and honey with the honeycomb pieces intact. Definitely could feed 2 people comfortably , but sizable to share between 3-4 as an app. Loved the vibe here, will return to try an entree next time. read more

Here on vacation and was intrigued by Ferns menu and it did not disappoint. It's farm to table so the menu changes. We had the squash blossoms - the farmer who grew them was a table over - & baked brie with blueberry compote to start - both flavorful and unique and the perfect start. For our meals we got Key West Shrimp, Cobia coconut curry, the Waygu linguine and each dish was worth a sonnet. Bella was our waitress; her recommendations were well informed and she was so pleasant. We sat outside. The patio is beautiful, with twinkle lights and murals surrounding the tables and music playing in the background. We got wine flights to accompany our meals and have mixed feelings about them each, but it was fun to compare. If I find myself in West Palm Beach again I will definitely be back and highly suggest you get to this gem of a restaurant asap read more

Doesn't look like this cooking smoke/exhaust is pulled out of the restaurant as I noticed hard fixed ceilings and no vents to help reduce this smoke. Staff at the bar were wonderful. I enjoyed the mushroom plate yet I wished I had a piece of bread to soak up the delicious au jous. Although I'd bring my own bread next time. I also ordered the tri-tip. If I visited again, I would hope the restaurant addresses the exhausted issue, or sit outside. read more
