I want to start off by saying Shay absolutely earned the 5 stars for this review. I came in one night to pick up an order just a few minutes before closing, and the line was a bit longer than usual. As I finally got to be next in line, both associates were busy helping customers with in-store purchases. One customer at checkout decided she wasn't quite finished browsing, leaving the associate and me awkwardly waiting for several minutes. While I stood there, Shay came up front as she was about to clock out for the night. She noticed me standing there empty-handed and quickly realized I was probably there for a pickup. Without hesitation, she stepped in and kindly helped me herself. I truly appreciate Shay going above and beyond to assist me, especially when she was already off the clock. Her attentiveness, initiative, and willingness to step in where help was needed made a lasting impression. It is very colorful and gives me a dynamic feeling. All the products in the store are presentable and beautiful. I want to bring them home. My last online order for in store pickup was June 28 for sas at the Ranch 99 store in Elk Grove. When I went to pick up my order, I saw some candles I want, I asked the associate to help me exchanged them since I used a coupon for them and they are 75% off. She became very annoyed with me (eye rolled). She told me she has to cancelled what I don't want and have to repurchase them. I repeatedly told her that I have used a coupon. She told me it's cheaper to re-buy it. I said "no, it's cheaper with the coupon" Long story short, I ended up leaving only with the body care and left without the candles. I don't want to argue with her for stupidity. I then went to the front of the store to inform the other associate about her coworker's redness, she said "oh it's because we have a new system" I said, I don't care, the fact is she was rude towards me and i was an annoyance to her, and I was the only customer there at that moment. I stopped by today since the semi annual sale is going on. There are limited stores open so I was glad to see one open near me. Wait time to get into the store was about 40-50 mins and yes we had timed it. That was expected since it is midst of Covid and some places are now just opening up. My issue with this location was that a women in front of us was not wearing a mask. While everyone else wore one. They also had masks at the door but they did not enforce her to go in with a mask. I get that people will be smelling all the products and what not. They also need a better method of smelling products. Anyways, she stood in line for the same amount of time as us and no one bothered to tell her she couldn't enter with out a mask. They let her go in right away and when it was our turn there were about 8 people who had left and most of the time we waited was spent near the door. I found this irritating. If you're going to be so strict and only allow 20 people in at a time then make them wear a mask or turn them away. Since it is the mandated law right now. The line for this store was all the way until Burlington the first time I came by, so I had ran some errands and came back. When I had finally made it in I realized how poorly managed this place was. There were only 2 cashiers who were clearly exhausted. Obviously they were exhausted the line wouldn't end. I felt bad for the employees because they were not prepared for this amount of customers. In the store there were a good amount of products but not as there are every year and it makes sense because of them not being open very long but the sale was disappointing. The employees working on the floor were re-stocking & helping customers with their questions. I only needed 5 things so I should've just shopped online. Saw a FB ad for a 2-day $2.95 sale on travel size products--available in-store and online. Went to this store this afternoon intending to get a few things on sale. When I didn't see any $2.95 sale signage, I asked an associate about it, mentioning the ad, and that it stated in-store and online. She showed no interest in helping me at all whatsoever, and simply said: "You have to have a coupon emailed directly to your email for us to scan." Nope! I'm not even subscribed to receive any BBW emails. Only reason I went I was because of the ad! Since she showed no interest in helping, I walked right out, placed my order online for pickup at the location on Laguna, which was ready in less than an hour. Normally this location is awesome, however it's sad that one employee with a nasty attitude can change all of that. Went in today for the candle sale and the girl at the register was completely rude. First she ripped a candle crate in half ON HER OWN and I asked her if I could have a whole crate she took in a deep breathe and rolled her eyes. Second I had put my phone number in but was using my mom's coupon, I didn't know that would be an issue, again eye roll and attitude with a rude remark now. The other employee jumped in and was super nice and told her what to do. The girl proceeded with constant eye rolls and attitude. At this point I was already over it and just wanted to walk away. I kept my cool and didn't engage with her attitude. I'm a mom this is like one of my outings and I'm there w my toddler the fact that this person had to be rude for having to DO HER JOB was unnecessary. If you don't want to deal with the public try a different job or don't work in customer service PERIOD. When I was walking out I turned around and stopped to talk to the manager because that girl should not be at the front helping anyone. I've been coming to this Bath & Body Works for a couple of years now and it's nice to have one in Elk Grove versus having to drive 20 or so minutes to the one in Arden Mall. It's located in the Market Place 99 Plaza where Ross, Hobby Lobby, Burlington, The Children's Place, and Famous Footwear to name a few are. I normally only come here if I have a coupon, freebie, and/or for their Semi-Annual Sale. FYI, if you don't have coupons and their Semi-Annual isn't happening anytime soon, swing by their store near the end of a season to get those scents for super cheap! I'm talking 70% or more off the original price. Their lotion will not separate and get super oily stocking it up until the following year. I've had two tropical scents from almost 2 summers ago. They apply just as good and still smell delicious after all this time! In the past when I've visited, their staff is usually attentive and helpful in finding what you need. But nothing out of the ordinary where I was extremely impressed, except this visit changed my view. A lovely gal named Rizza helped me throughout my whole visit from the beginning when I walked through the door to checking me out. Rizza went above and beyond my expectations, mentioning what coupons they had via email and if I didn't have the email (which I didn't because I deleted it) they would still honor it at check out, current sales going on in the store, new products for the fall season, and if I didn't like the candle after burning it I could easily exchange it! Didn't think that'd be an option, but good to know! She mentioned a specific candle that I may like, but there were no more on the shelves. So she went to the back to find another just for me to see and smell. My boyfriend was also with me and was trying to find a different lotion that suited him, something that's in season yet with some masculinity, haha. Rizza spent a great deal of time with him trying different lotions, offering her recommendations, and was an overall joy to be assisted by. After this recent visit, I look forward to coming in more often, hoping Rizza will be there to help us out again or rub off her fantastic customer service skills to her coworkers! read more

An annual review update for Candle day; I have mixed emotions this year. I arrived a little after 12:30am on opening morning and the line was down towards Burlington! Crazy! The store opened promptly and it seemed as though I was gonna be able to get in & out within an hour and a half. Well, I was way off. The first 17 minutes of opening were smooth. The line moved forward 4 times, but it was down hill from there. They started letting less and less people in. We would see 5 people leave, but only 1-2 people walk in. When we asked one of the workers what the hold up was, we were told it was because people were doing separate transactions; makes sense, I get it. When I got closer to the window, I noticed that the store had plenty of room for more people and it wasn't nearly as full as it was last year. By the time I got into the store I had been waiting in line for over 2 hours, not including the time I waited before the doors opened. It took us another half hour to get through the line in the store, even though I sent my boyfriend to the line as soon as we stepped into the store. I noticed that the line wasn't necessarily moving slowly because we were doing separate transactions but because of the cashiers themselves. They weren't moving with a sense in urgency. The customer service wasn't the best tonight, but I will say the store was well organized. I was able to find what scents I wanted and there were plenty. They also had a bunch in their crates ready to go. Considering I moved and drove 30 minutes to come to this location made a huge impact on my visit, and I'm not sure if I'll return, to this store, next year for the candle sale. read more

Bath & Body works is a staple store that most women that are into girly sweet smelling things have been shopping at for years. This location is good for us Elk Grove folks that do not feel like a 30+ minute drive to Arden Mall. Service herr can be hit or miss, most casheirs are friendly though. The selection today was pretty limited for the first day of the Semi annual sale. Literally every candle were the horrible smelling holiday ones that no one wanted. Online selection is much better but who wants to pay for shipping and can be difficult for new scents. Good selection of the plug ins. Wasn't really in the market for shower gel or lotion but mainly holiday scents and some old school classics like cucumber melon & honeysuckle. They keep you coming with their endless coupons and since I like my house smelling sweet I will keep coming back. read more

I love this bath and body works because it appears to be very quiet in that area. They don't always have a large crowd. But when they do, they do a really good job with traffic control. I shopped on one of the busiest days of the year, the day that the three Wick candle's went on sale for $6! The line moved very swiftly and they had employees standing around ready to assist you in anyway. For example, I was standing in line and forgot to pick up a specific candle. One of the employees grabbed the candle for me so that I did not lose my place in line. I will definitely revisit this location read more

I made a 2nd order for the free item that they said did not go through. I did not bring the coupon because I didn't think I needed it since the order appeared to go thru. I asked her over 4 times if she would honor it. She plain out refused to do so by stating they are strict with coupons. I wonder if my complexion had anything to do with her decision. POOR SERVICE! We were in the area and I have been in desperate need of hand soap so I thought we'd swing by and re-stock. Upon entering the place looked empty and there didn't seem to be anyone working. Or at least if they were employees there was no way to tell them apart from the customers. I began to look around for the hand soap I have always bought with very little luck. There were a few flavors geared towards the "kitchen" but I wanted the traditional flavors I had grown to love like "Warm Vanilla Sugar", "Sea Island Cotton", "Turquoise Waters", etc etc. They did have a few more scent choices if I wanted to purchase the foaming kind but I don't care for that, it makes a mess. Also, there was a sign on one of the racks that said "$3" and in fine bring it said "this shelf" So I wanted sure if it meant the whole rack or literally just that shelf. I looked and looked and looked for someone to help with no luck. I wandered around looking lost for quite some time and not a single employee acknowledged my existence nor offered any help. Not sure what is going on with this location but that has never been my experience here or at any Bath & Body Works for that matter. I've always been greeted by multiple employees upon entering the door, offered a bag and check in on repeatedly. Also, the selection was pretty much non existent. I'm not ashamed to admit that we've been know to drop a few hundred dollars on soap, lotion, car fresheners and wall flower refills on any given visit which would have most likely happened on this visit as well since my stock had run low. However, on this occasion I walked out the door empty handed and very disappointed. Now that I am writing this I am debating whether my experience warrants a 1 star review, but I usually save those for experiences that I was offended or insulted. Since there seemed to be not one employee working there (I was there for at least close to 20 minutes) to offend or insult me I guess I'll stick with 2 stars. read more

I love the merchandise at Bath & Body Works. In fact, one can say I'm an addict. Candles, Wallflowers, soap, fragrance sprays, lotions, creams~I have it all. What I don't like is being accosted by numerous sales associates as I walk in trying to shove one of their shopping bags in my hand. The first time I said politely "no thank you". Ditto for the second time. By the third time I was still polite but more direct and firm-I do NOT want a dirty shopping bag nor do I need any assistance picking out my purchases. By the fourth attempt I was done. What part of " no" do they not understand? The best part is when the associate tells me she'll watch me and meet me at the register with a shopping bag. *DISCRIMINATORY ESTABLISHMENT* Recently I visited this location with my girlfriend who was looking to purchase a new scent. While when we walked in we were greeted by a friendly employee, the other employee experience wasn't so similar. As we looked at the perfume and lotions that were located on the wall next to the hand soap display a female employee with a bun came over to the section and began to pick up random items making it seem as tho she was looking for something and asked us if we needed help. Although we responded no she still stood n hovered in which felt like surveillance saying something in her mic about black raspberry. Making my girlfriend uncomfortable she alerted me of the situation and we decided to leave only making 1 purchase as we didn't feel we were welcome to keep browsing. I am a black male and my girlfriend is a Mexican female, while I don't like to jump the gun on racial discrimination, I could help but feel like this is what that was. Long story short we will never be back in this establishment and wouldn't recommend anyone who were proud to be black or brown visit either. As much as I love this place...I still think it's a little over priced. Even with my coupon. We spent a little over $55 and these are just one of the stocking stuffers. Lol. The staff are great. The 5 stars is primarily for employee Christine.(cashier #1414962) I got an email on Sunday advertising 50% off 3 wick candles. I went in on Monday and found out the sale had ended. Employee Christine was the only one behind the register and there was a line of 5 people before me. She was working two registers at once to make the line go faster, and was smiling and pleasant the whole time. She didn't seem rushed or rude. When it was my turn I asked Christine if she was the manager and she said no. I was just going to let it ride but she took the extra step and said "is there something I can help you with?". I told her I was bummed that I got an email for a sale that had ended on the same day of the email. So she said she would honor the sale price and hooked me up!!!! That little bit of extra customer service took a potentially disgruntled customer and made me a fan again. Way to go Christine!!! I called corporate and told them to give her a raise!!! By the way my wife and I are candle junkies and have a whole closet full. We have found that Bath and Body Works three wick candles are the most heavily scented candle on the market today. Service sucked. There were two ladies working the floor. One on the register and the other walking around. Never got a welcome greeting or asked if I needed any help. I felt like had to chase down a worker just to see if they had something in stock. There were no scent samples for the car freshener so when I did ask the young lady said she could direct me to some candles. As I was following her she had already forgotten what she was going to do for me because she walk away from me as if I hadn't just asked her for help like 5 seconds ago. Like was she going to direct me to the similar scenting candles to the car fresheners or nah? Strange workers. Didn't felt welcome. The coupon made me do it! Popped into BBW to pick up some seasonal goodies and was immediately greeted by Ms. Rizza (Pizza with an "R"). Rizza shared all the current promos, I in exchange told her my scent profiles and those I don't like and she made spot on recommendations (according to my wallet lol). The Elk Grove store appears smaller than other neighborhood locations like Truxel, Rancho Cordova and Fair Oaks, but it could be floor model, as some of the other local locations appear to be wider in circumference. Nonetheless Elk Grove carries most of the brands collections including seasonal fragrances. The staff overall is friendly and helpful (stop putting those coupons in my bags and I will stay home lol), so I am going to assume great service is part of BBW's business model. Guess that's why I've been a customer since the 90's. Now please bring back Heartland and all will be well in my world lol read more

I was here for the candle sale and EVERYONE was so helpful and outgoing. I'd been to other locations (earlier this day) and they were not nearly as nice. This location was so well prepared and polite! There was a long line (because that is what the candle sale entails is long lines) but one of the workers came outside to make sure we all had the additional 20% off coupon and another worker had come outside to bring us candles to smell while we waited, talk about customer service! Once I got in the store I had a little bit of a complicated transaction because I had multiple coupons and even a return from a different location I'd purchased from earlier that day, but that was no problem. The person who rang me up knew exactly how my purchase should be separated to put my coupons to optimal use. Above all else she was patient, even tho the story was CRAZY busy she was not irritated at all. This is a wonderful location and I will definitely return here next year for candle day! read more

I'm very happy Elk Grove has this store and I don't have to drive all the way to the mall just to get my stuff. I usually have to come here once every few months when I run out of lotion, soap, etc. I prefer their lotions over Body Shop because they're not greasy, but moisturizing. Their soaps always smell good and do the job too! I like the staff because they're all friendly and pleasant without being pushy. There's usually like 4 of them in this small store, but they don't hover and bug the crap out of you while you smell and pick out products. It's worked out for me to join their mailing group for their coupons. They usually have deals (i.e.: 5 for $18 or buy 3 and get 2 free) anyway, but then the coupons add extra savings on top of that! read more

They were working side by side & start speaking Spanish, obviously talking about one of us, the customers. I simply mentioned that i usually put in my phone number (to get coupons in the mail) before checking out each time and she decides to take it as giving her a hard time and that i wanted to sign up (as if i was going to waste time doing that to). I did not want to sign up my phone number as I already am sighed up, what Brianna could've done was keep her rudeness to herself versus having a used to be satisfied customer, unsatisfied.
