I walked in around 11 am on Friday, after the 4th of July. The manager (or owner) was very friendly. She told me that they were slow so that it's my choice if I want to do my pedicure and manicure at the same time or if I wanted to relax and do them back to back. I opted for the later since I wasn't in a rush. I asked the nail technician to shape my toes in a square and she said yes, but didn't do that. She also cut my nails crooked and I had to ask her to reshape them. Then I asked for her to go closer to my cuticles when she was doing the first coat and she said that she would on the second coat. As you can tell from the picture, she didn't paint close to my cuticles and she painted them crooked. I have to go to another nail shop and get them redone this week since they don't look fresh and have already chipped. Unfortunately I will not be going back to this salon. read more

I've heard great things about Sparkle and I really wanted to like them but I was very disappointed in my visit last week. I called on a Monday for an appointment and was able to get in within the hour. Upon arrival they had me wash my hands and sanitize. I then waited for the next technician to clean and prepare. I took the time to scope out the salon. Their nail bar area is very unique. I have never seen a salon with a bar like that, so that easily sets them apart. I had a man work on my pedicure, I didn't get a chance to ask for his name but I think it was Ron? I know it started with an R atleast. Hahaha, he took his time with cutting and cleaning my cuticles. However, he did nip one of my toes on my left foot and usually I wouldn't mind but blood was pooling out of the cut. At one point he sat there with a cotton ball, applying pressure for about 2-4 mins. He would go back to the toe every now and then too because I was bleeding so much. I could tell he was nervous about it because he kept looking up at me...but he never apologized for it. I also asked him to take out my ingrown toenails several times and he said okay but barely took it out...I also wasn't asked what kind of pedicure I wanted. I usually opt for the spa pedicure but I was never asked which pedicure I wanted so he just started doing the basic and ended with the basic. When he was done with painting my toes, he literally rubbed oil and lotion on my legs in an up-down motion TWICE then told me I was done. So there was absolutely no massage and it says that a massage should be included in the basic pedicure too... My experience wasn't very relaxing either because a few of the other technicians were talking so loud that I felt like I was apart of the conversation. Everyone was so nice and friendly that I really wanted to like the spa but I just left with my ingrown toe nails still causing me irritation, my toe bleeding and not relaxed. It's been a short week since my visit and I'm already at another salon getting my pedicure done again because I need some treatment on my ingrown. I had asked for a gel manicure (which later I switched to dip powder) and a pedicure. So the receptionist asked me if it's okay if they work on both my hands and feet at the same time and I had said no.. if they can do one at a time so that I could enjoy my pedicure. So as I'm getting my pedicure done maybe not even 10 mins in the pedicure girl asks me what I'm doing to my nails and I said dip powder but my acrylic needs to be taken off. So she relays the message to the receptionist and then a different girl starts working on my hands. And it was a shame because the pedicure was feeling so good but I couldn't enjoy it. Taking off the acrylic can be annoying and painful.. I don't get why they couldn't wait for the pedicure to be finished. So once the pedicure was over Chang took me over to the station to get my nails finished up and she was super sweet and did such an awesome job. What I noticed about this place is they seem to take their time. And it's not your average nail salon either. It's like wayyyy cool! No massage chairs which could be a minus thing, but they have this long bench with pillows for pedicures and this table with high chairs for manicures. Whatever you are envisioning you're typical nail salon. Throw it out the window ! And I thought the prices were pretty fair as well. This is officially my new favorite place in Elk Grove. read more

Tucked in a weird spot with other businesses behind the Hilton.. Sparkle Nail Bar is between a Sourdough sandwich spot and a float therapy place.. I called for a pedicure and they had immediate availabilty.. that ups my happiness. I show up, I had to read about Covid-19 and sign a waiver. Mask required. Hand sanitizer was readily available and their dedication to safety during this pandemic was seen and it felt reassuring from the presence of barriers and having people wait outside so that there isn't unnecessary people inside breathing. There wasn't a menu to describe each pedicure. My nail tech described them to me and I chose the Spa Pedicure ($40) which included paraffin wax and a hot stone massage. Color samples were brought to me. The pedicure stations weren't individual massage chairs but a long bench divided with barriers and it may massage? I think I saw remote tucked into the creases where the back and seat part of the bench meet. So perhaps during nonpandemic times there is a massage option.. maybe. Doesn't matter. I brought a book. Some polish was messed up when the nail tech put my slippers on.. She fixed it and yeah, I have to say this because I have been to places that play it off like it didn't happen and try to send me on my way so I really appreciate it when they take the time to fix the smudged polish. Sparkle never ceases to amaze me! I have been coming here for years, seeing multiple nail technician's, but now Chi is stuck with me! I am a creature of habit, I love getting dip nails with French tips. I have extremely weak nails, and they break all the time. Also doesn't help that I am rough on my hands. I fix my car, do yard work, and play sports. I constantly break my nails, and getting dip makes that much harder to do, which is great! So, I wish I enjoyed getting my nails done. I like when they are done, but hate going to a salon. Why? Because EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I tell my nail person to be gentle on my cuticles. Yes, I'm a baby and my cuticles are sensitive. And every single time at least one cuticle gets nicked. Once that happens, I get anxiety and my hands get sweaty and then the nail person is like, "why your hand so sweaty?!". Well, because you cut the shit out my skin. That's why. I also request thin nails because I still need to pick the boogies out of my babies' noses. Does that happen without the nails being uneven? No. With that said, I was determined to get my nails done for the Super Bowl. I sat down and met a guy named Michael (or Mike, he doesn't really care), showed him a pic of what I wanted, told him I wanted them thin, and stressed to him that my cuticles are sensitive. Not only did he do exactly what I requested, he made sure to tell me when he was going to start on my cuticles, and I never once had to repeat myself on what I wanted. He knew exactly what colors were needed and did a phenomenal job within ONE HOUR. He didn't even need tape to make the lines straight on my ring fingers. By far the best nail experience I've ever had, and I'm not exaggerating. Thank you Michael for a job well done! I was leaving to LA and came in for a full set before the trip, my nail was pointing in a whole different direction I mentioned it and they filed it some for me, still wasn't fixed I was on a crunch for time for a bday dinner I had to get to, so had to leave and was upset it was done correctly still.. I ended up calling on my drive and asked if I could please have it fixed correctly she told me they'd get me in and they'd redo the nail.. made the appointment came in for it and the lady said were can I see the nail and she's like it just has to be filed, I was like no we made the appt to redo it, she said they were really busy and started to file the nail and started saying my finger makes my nail the way it was.. never has that been the situation all the prior times I came here.. at that point I was upset and left.. never to come back. This time, I had a gift certificate that I needed to redeem. By the way, although their gift certificates say they're only valid for a year, they'll actually honor them anytime, which is awesome! I came in for a Regular Manicure ($17) and Regular Pedicure ($25). I made an appointment but still found myself having to wait 5-10 minutes. Not the biggest deal, I guess, but it felt like they weren't prepared for my appointment. What's unique about Sparkle Nail Bar is that the staff is super friendly and fun with each other. Throughout my time there, there was a lot of joking and laughing. That was nice to see, as long as it didn't interfere with their work. My manicure/pedicure was a bit disappointing, I must say. I could tell that the first clear coat layer wasn't done properly so when the colored nail polish was put on, it just seemed a bit sloppy. Additionally, I asked for white nail polish for my pedicure and even that color wore away in less than 2 weeks. Overall, it barely lasted for the occasion I needed it for and didn't look like I had just gotten my nails done. I'm glad I had a gift certificate but if I hadn't, I would've been disappointed in paying ~$42 for mediocre services. I called ahead of time to see if they had available times / if I was able to walk-in. I was told to come in and if anyone does not show for their appointment I can get in a seat. Because everyone showed up I was not able to be seated. Though there was a slot available at 2pm. I came back at 2 and I instantly got into a seat! They are busy but they make it work. Lily had done my mother's pedicure the other day (maybe 7/8/15) which resulted in a nasty, painful irritation that hopefully won't become infected the very next day. I've uploaded a photo of the disasterous results. She likely didn't sterilize her tools, or was cavalier about nipping flesh. My mother's ingrown didn't get checked, seeing as it's still intact. We'd returned to show them the problem and had spoken to Linh, who was very defensive about everything. She remembers my mother is a regular, but didn't treat her in a friendly manner. Not at all. My mother ended up leaving feeling disrespected & upset. There was a dispute about mis-charges for a polish change, etc. that Linh also insisted was fair. My mother is quite detail-oriented and will be agreeable if she's shown the charges are indeed fair, so I wonder about this place's credibility. Linh does a lot of talking AT you, not really letting you get a word in edgewise. Pretty aggressive, and I was not a fan of her "keeping it real, since I'm 'Americanized'" schtick. She seems to have a sharp memory, but doesn't use it towards good customer service, instead using it to nitpick details. No matter how calmly I tried to speak to her, she'd cut me off. I did, however, manage to ask her one thing: "how does insurance work for incidences like this?" She then informed us that her salon was indeed insured and she had cameras up recording everything. And they would be sure to tell their side of the story. If she'd told us in a manner that was less threatening and accusatory, and more mutually respectful, such as "We're covered by AllState, so if you'd like to make a claim, we can work things out through them" instead of "My shop has cameras on you & everything you do. You can try to tell AllState what happened, but we get to say our piece too," I would not have had this horrible gut feeling and unpleasant impression about this nail salon. Linh didn't make a any real effort to keep my mother as a regular by being understanding-- she essentially pushed us away to take in the next wave of customers. Seems like business is good here, with a butt in every seat, and she treated us as if losing one regular was no biggie. Dismissive and accusatory customer service instead of calmly discussing things had turned my mother's stomach. She likely will never be back again after this experience. Same goes for me. Linh told me my review would likely hurt her business, and even reprImanded me, saying I should have consulted her before posting. She then launched into a story about another Yelper regular of hers whose reciew complained about trivial mistakes in her manicure. What purpose does telling me this serve? Trash talking your own customers to other customers? I told her I myself try to be as fair as I can in my reviews. I have my own standard, and I am on Yelp to keep customers INFORMED, first and foremost. I hope she realizes that consulting with her changed nothing...if anything, it swung her salon far out of our favor. We took the time to come and let her know the problem and were soundly dismissed. I was ready to edit my review accordingly, and this colorful exchange will be appended to it. FYI: They will "check ingrowns" here, despite the risks and lack of skill from the pedicurists. This is why Linh claims to tell them to do it only if they are specifically asked to by a client. Seems like they're all business here, and customers are nothing more than a means to a paycheck. AMY one of the owners there is really sweet, I didn't like the work that was done on my gel nails ($35) and she + NICOLE ended up re-doing them for me for no charge, but of course I tipped accordingly. 3.) But be aware, there is one girl there that does not speak English too well, if you are uncomfortable with that or do not speak the language request a change because I didn't I ended up wasting my time and their time. The shape was not right, they were more square than coffin. I am very disappointed, if they were not able to do the design they should've said so or at least realized they messed up and painted over them. The tech who did her nails also cut her finger while filing. It was bleeding when it happened, but is not anymore. She was too anxious to ask for them to fix it. I've been here a couple of times now and love how they are able to take in walk ins no matter how busy their schedule may be. It's a hit and miss if you are going in for a manicure since I've had a manicure done by three different people( different time). One of them was a guy (forgot his name) but he goes raving with his friends lol. Anyway, he took his time in doing the nail design that I showed him in pictures. It turned out really well.
