I especially appreciated the vast array of Kenosha or Wisconsin specific items since I grew up in Kenosha but live out of town. This is the perfect shop for a special gift. They have a lot of nice brands here; I saw some stuff by Mayoral, Quincy Mae, Rylee and Cru, and others. They had a nice selection of stuff for both genders--a nice change since I have found (and my friends with sons have confirmed) it can be difficult to find as much for boys as for girls. In addition to the clothes, there were lots of toys and accessories. I bought some beeswax crayons that my little one was playing with (the store has a little table set up near the cash register for children to color at) and I liked the crayons a lot myself; they were really smooth. Makes me want to take up coloring more often. (Though I guess I'll have the chance with a small child.) The sizes run the childhood gamut--they have infant items all the way up to probably at least age 10. The store features a brand of the month, and a contest associated with it; if you buy an item by the brand of the month you are entered into a contest. Clever incentive. There isn't a dedicated parking lot, but the downtown (?) Kenosha area has plenty of street parking.

Vintage Mercantile is a small little gift shop right on Main Street in downtown Antioch, Illinois…read more They have done a fantastic job remodeling and repairing the inside space to look a bit rustic, decorated with items from the past. With the large open windows up front, the store has plenty of natural lighting, which gives it a cozy feeling. They sell a selection of soaps, spices, cups, bags, jewelry, towels, and a good variety of little knickknacks. They have these books that are made up to look like old leather bound tomes with cloth like paper that I thought was pretty neat. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were taken care of but didn't hound us while we shopped. My only comment is some items were a tad bit pricey, but that's pretty standard for the unique products that they sell. It definitely did not feel touristy, as some gift shops do, so that was very nice. Overall, if you're looking for something unique, rustic, or something with an Antioch Illinois flair, then Vintage Mercantile is a great place to stop in if you're in the area. I would definitely recommend it!
