Not a great location. They don't ask customers if they need help or even acknowledge them. I walked in when it was fully staffed--more staff than customers--and still didn't get a greeting or acknowledgment. I frequent this Ulta when in the area and used to go here all the time to get my hair done. Over the years and with staffing changes, the welcome feeling that I used to feel is no longer there. Most time a when I go in the store now no one offers to help. You literally have to ask people if they work in the store because the employees blend in looking like lost customers. Now there are still times that I go in and the atmosphere is completely different but far too often lately that hasn't been the case. read more

I was in your Kenosha store yesterday and I usually have a pleasant shopping experience with this store, until yesterday. One of you sales reps decided to mark me as someone who may "steal" as she was over-solicitous with me, asking if I needed any "help" about 4 times after I kept telling her I'd let her know if I needed any, then following me around the store, pretending to clean up garbage/used strips. All I was doing was sampling the perfume on strips to see what I liked. That's it. But she decided to mark me because she didn't liked the way I looked for some reason. Very, very unprofessional. She actually walked around me and picked up the coffee bean shaker and then set it down right away...and the point of that was? After the 4th time of her asking if I needed any "help," I very sternly said, I'd let her know. I decided since she was eyeing me to go look at makeup instead of being insulted by this rep. Not too soon after, she followed me to that section as well pretending to clean up. I just stood there looking at her shaking my head. I almost walked out of the store. I should sought out a supervisor, but I didn't. My mistake. I have been a very loyal, good customer of Ulta for years and to be treated this way because this person made an incorrect assumption is beyond insulting! Very, very unprofessional. If Ulta feels the need for their reps to do this, I'll be happy to go elsewhere from now on to do my makeup/perfume shopping. read more

They proceeded to say they just changed the location so she didn't know. And then said how another worker would help me. DUDE LOOKS LIKE A LADY! Ulta is a great place to get specialty products you may need to look good. I have been shopping at Ulta for over 10 years now, but it is probably not helping. LOL! Typically there are never any guys in here, so you have to get over that fact. I also can guarantee that when you walk in you are going to get stared at by the ladies. Just keep your head up high and walk in with confidence. They can not stop you!!! So I went directly to the Aveda products and stood there in a daze. I looked up and down at the products. Where was my styling cream? Why? There was a new product in its place. Same container but different colors. Similar names but it was like some changed the words using a Thesaurus. Is it the same? Or a lame attempt to get me to buy a new product and forget about my old one? A sales associate saw my pain and approached me and asked if I needed help. Typically I can say, "No I am good!" But today I think I said, "I need a hug!" Not really but I think I wanted to say that. I asked her about where was my product and she told me that it was discontinued and this was the new product to replace it. I was in such disbelief that I went to the Aveda website and it said, "Discontinued!" So no I was not in a happy place. The sales associate showed me the new product and said, "She was sure it was the same stuff!" But she could not confirm it...she did tell me to Google it...which I found kind of funny coming from a Sales Associate! She is suppose to be the expert. This is the second time that this has happen to me at Ulta. My shampoo also got discontinued about a year ago and I have not found a replacement at Ulta. If they keep this up, I may have to just stop shopping here. On a side note...make sure you join the Ulta Club because they send out great monthly coupons that you can apply towards your purchases. They will also send out coupons for free products based on how much money you spend. I even got a free lamp once. Hey it was free, so I had to take it! This store may be geared towards women but they do have manly products in here too. Just put your head up high and walk in. And if you're single you might be able to meet a nice woman in here too...it beats meeting someone at the bar!!! read more

I love Ulta! This particular store was easy to find coming from I-94. It is large, clean, and well organized. I was greeted by the girl at the cash register as soon as I walked in the door. I knew what I wanted but still like to do just a little bit of looking around. I must have appeared to be on a mission, only one sales associate approached me. She kindly asked if I needed help, and I told her I had already found what I wanted, and then she left me to look on my own. I like that. It turned out to be a fairly quick visit to one of my favorite stores. My fiancée was happy about that. If you shop here, you must sign up for the Ulta Club Card! I also received my birthday "gifts" when I checked out, I'm sure it changes all the time but I was so excited to receive a full size Urban Decay eye shadow and $10 off my purchase!! The cashier even talked to me about my bday plans and seemed genuinely happy and excited for me. Their loyalty program combined with overall great customer service really makes me feel like they value me as a customer. Overall,, this is a great store and I would stop here again if I was in the area :) read more

This is a very nice Ulta. Because of it's location, it often has master classes offered there. I went to one last spring that was held there for Urban Decay products. It was so much fun! Beyond the fun events it hosts, this store is big and offers lots of great products. The store is usually clean and organized. Like most retail stores, staff can be either really great or not so great. Lately, everyone there has been really nice and helpful though. read more

This is for the Salon only. I live in Los Angeles but was visiting my parents and desperately needed to get my roots done. Found ULTA which was close by and got Eric. He is AMAZING! Got a full head of demi-color that came out PERFECTLY and a beautiful blow out for $43!!! That's less than half of what I normally pay back home but the quality is well beyond what I've had in expensive salons. Great service and great stylist! Highly recommend. read more

I stopped by the other day to get makeup and some skin brightner. I normally do not wear makeup, but my skin has become very discolored so I needed help. Stopped in for a haircut by Kristina and had the best haircut of my life! She is the sweetest and will answer any questions you have! She's extremely knowledgeable and will take time and care in cutting your hair. I am not from the area which saddens me, but if I could pack her up in my suitcase and take her back to PA with me I would! I've never had a haircut at Ulta before this, I now don't think I'll have my hair cut anywhere else. If you're contemplating coming here for a haircut, do it and ask for Kristina! read more

I love ulta. Just wished this one was a little more stocked better. I know they are popular but this location never has any NYX glitters. The tarte shape tape in my shade is never in stock here either. But I did find my Mario master palette and mega pro 3 palette here so I really can't complain. The ladies at the cashiers here are nice. However when it comes to the people on the floor, maybe it's because I look like a bum coming in but they aren't very helpful. Aliah is fabulous!!! Let me tell you...I have short curly puny cat fur hair and everyday is a bad hair day! I'm serious...on whim I decided to schedule an appointment with a random person in an effort to get some one else's take on my crappy hair. Aliah, a 9 year veteran with Ulta in Pleasant Prairie, went to the trouble to explain how to get the most out of my hair and fixed me up with the right products too! Then I mentioned that I need a makeup tutorial because I'm just not good at girl stuff like that and she hooked me up with Charlene who gave me a makeover and a lesson and also hooked me up with product to help me do the look justice on my own! I look gorgeous today! I really do! I can't believe that 2 hours at Ulta and a few key products can make me feel so much better about my look! I recommend Aliah and Charlene whole heartedly!!! So unbelievably this was my first time in an Ulta store. Im a licensed hairdresser so i never thought of going here because i have supply houses i can buy from. My reason for going was for skin care & makeup as I've used the same Cover Girl since i was 14!!! Im 50 so obviously my skin has changed & needed to learn about different lines for my skin type. Mr. Wolf sat me down & we tried different products till i felt that we had found my match! Ive never tried a cosmetics counter & it was AMAZING! Went back the next day as i had a few questions & was helped AND given a sample of 1 more thing to try! Never knew you could do that either! Got my hair done here and the woman who did it took her time and made sure I was happy with everything. She was absolutely fantastic! I've gotten so many compliments on it and I honestly love it. Now, I can do my own makeup, but for prom I thought it would be nice to have someone else do it for me. I originally hoped to get my makeup done at Sephora, as I have had it done there before, but they were booked. I made my appointment at Ulta. This review is specifically for the girl who did my makeup, as the other girls were perfectly fine. I had Cory do my makeup and it took her literally 40 minutes to do one eye. And it wasn't even done well, I asked for a cut crease and I looked like a panda. How do you not know how to do a cut crease but work as a makeup artist? I ended up having her wipe the shit off, except my foundation, and did the rest of my makeup at home. At one point she asked me if I wanted to go home and do my makeup and I swear the entire salon turned their heads. Never going back, and will never recommend her to anyone else. read more

I really like the store and the variety of products they offer. But I decided to save myself some time by having my eye brows waxed here instead of driving to my normal threading shop. First of all, I was standing at the salon counter for a while before anyone even acknowledged me. The salon was totally desolate (one client) and the lady at the counter told me she was not sure they had time to do it. What?! After one of the hairdressers offered to enter me into the system, the lady from the counter came and did my eyebrows. She seemed unsure of herself and I could tell the waxing did not feel like it normally does. She was very tentative. I was in a hurry and thought it looked good enough. My second surprise was when I got to the counter and found out the price was $21 for an inexperienced person doing my wax when I pay half of that at other places with better result. My final shock was when I went to put on my makeup the next day and saw all the spots she missed. Then I had to return to get it fixed. So much for saving time! The good news is that when I went back to get it fixed, a different lady apologized, took her time and got it right. read more

I go in to the Ulta on Grand Ave in Gurnee, Il about once a month since it's like 5min from my house but that location is the most disappointing location I've ever been in. They never greet you, they are snooty, you can never get anyone to help cause they are always too busy either talking to each other. I went in looking for a good palette and Lorac was out of stock. I finally got an employee to help and I asked when they would be in stock. She didn't have the answer, didn't say she would order me one cause I'd pay right on the spot, nor did she assist in finding a replacement...um you are a sales person....SELL THE PRODUCTS, this isn't the first time that has happened! I'm never going back there but I love Ulta so I had to find a new location. Over the weekend I drove 20min out of my way to head over to the Ulta location in Pleasant Prairie, WI. That was the best decision I made and will continue to go out of my way to get great service, 5 stars! I found my new hair stylist Leah, averyone there was so nice and took care of me. read more

GO SEE MELISSA! I have highly textured very curly hair. If you are into staging, I am probably in the 4A/B, C range depending on the area of my head. I came to see Melissa after several years of not going to the salon because I had been just traumatized. Try sitting in a salon for 6 hours or more, spending almost $200 for a wash and blow/dry/trim and having the stylist cut off 4-6 of my natural hair (not to mention the severe heat damage). So needless to say, I was doing my own hair for several years. But I needed to make my hair more manageable so my friend (her hair is always on point even in severe humidity) told me she had been seeing Melissa for years. Her hair was colored and cut to perfection ALWAYS. So I made an appointment. First she listened to me and asked me questions about what I wanted to achieve. Then she explained my options and thoroughly explained the process and what I can expect after. Can we say "mad skillz"??? Melissa completely transformed my hair and I still got super manageable curls that are moisturized and shiny. And if I want, I can do silky straight. She was quick and I every suggestion I made about combing or whatever, SHE ACTUALLY DID IT!!! Most stylists do not want you to tell them what to do. They assume that since they have been doing hair for years, they know what to do. But she did it and was not offended when I gave them. Now one of the best parts was that she needed to give me a trim. She turned me around and asked me how much to cut by having me look in the mirror. I told her the amount and then she did what no other stylist has ever done, SHE GAVE ME THE MIRROR AND LET ME WATCH HER WHILE SHE CUT IT!. Others don't ask but those that did still cut off the amount they wanted but she cut off the amount I WANTED. She gets perfect marks from me and I am going to see her again tomorrow. I will be tipping BIG TIME because she got "mad skillz" and she makes me the boss. Plus I looked so fly in a meeting that my boss said "Your hair is so awesome, I can't hear a word coming out of your mouth. I cannot stop staring". MELISSA GOT MAD SKILLZ read more

Amazing! Yes, I'm amazed that this company hasn't been sued yet. Last week I reviewed a ULTA in Waukesha and ripped it a new one for what I feel is a harassment due to my race. I thought maybe I'm not being fair so today I happened to be by an ULTA and decided to stop in. Did the same thing that I did at the other one and checked out the limited cologne section. I was comparing Porfumo to Polo Double black. Just like clock work, I hear a door from the left slam shut and I glance and see a manager b-line straight towards me. Asked if I needed help and I replied no just smelling colognes. She walks away but as I was about to walk out I see her staring at me from the aisle behind us. As I walk towards the door I see her make a quick pass while scanning the shelves in the cologne aisle, I'm guessing checking for missing samplers. So I returned to her and I was about 3 aisles away as she was going back into the magical door on the left and said, "Excuse me!" She stopped and had this face of GUILTY "I didn't do anything" face my kids make when I catch them doing something they know is wrong. I asked her if she was a manager and she responded she was. I asked for her name and then I walked out the door. By her expression on her face I feel this is not something she WANTS to do but feels compelled to do, makes me think ULTA has some racist leadership. So I will not put her name on here but I will say I will make sure to visit more ULTAs in the area in the following weeks and see if I can time the entrance of managers from the magical door on the left.
