My son politely asked to use the bathroom, and no one responded to him. Only when I stepped in did we get an answer. It felt dismissive and, frankly, pretty rude. There are also "do not touch" signs everywhere, which makes it really hard for kids to engage with the products. At one point, my son accidentally dropped a bath bomb we were planning to purchase. I immediately informed management that we intended to purchase it, and we did. In response, the manager told me I needed to help my children get things off the shelf--implying that the accident could've been avoided if I had intervened. I understand wanting to keep displays in good condition, but this just made the experience feel even more unwelcoming and tense. It's especially frustrating because this shop is just a few minutes from my home. But honestly? I'd rather make the hour-long drive to Lush. There, the staff are kind, engaged, and actually enjoy interacting with kids. They make the experience fun and inclusive, which makes all the difference. I grew up with a Mother whose 50 year experience was in one retail department store.' The owner had a poster in the back that listed the 10 Commandments of Customer Service. At the bottom of the poster was this "The Customer is Always Right." So yes, I'm old-school. A young woman named Angela brought out my online order. She said it was already paid for. I explained I needed to pay for it with a gift card I'd had 1-2 years. She kept refusing my request, as if I did not understand. She was reluctant to do a refund so I could pay for the merchandise with a gift card. I explained that's exactly what she needed to do. Her body language fully expressed her disdain for this process. She maintained a smugness throughout the entire exchange, asked me to open the package. That's NOT a standard operating procedure for customer service. She proceeded with the refund, stonefaced. No conversation, and proceeded to re-charge the merchandise. Never a 'thank you for explaining'. Never an 'I'm sorry for misunderstanding this.' Her response to my frustration with having to coax the entire process was 'What's your attitude? I'm trying to help you!' Is this the new JCP customer service? She called for her manager who was equally stonefaced. The manager Alex, like Angela, was just as reluctant to complete the exchange. She kept telling me it was already paid for. After requesting that she complete the exchange ... at least five times ... AND honor the sale price, she finally acquiesced. During this exchange, I told her that Angela was a very beautiful young girl, but her beauty did not compensate for her vile passive aggressive stance. I reiterated this several times, no 'I apologize for your experience,' nothing. When I repeated the complaint, she said she'd acknowledged it, but would not have me talking ill of her employee. Ill of her employee? A complaint does not produce a rosy glowing compliment. I gave her the good with the bad. She too was dismissive. When the altercation/transaction was finished, my response was 'I can tell she gets her customer service skills from you.' So beware this duo who doesn't understand not every transaction achieves electronic processing digital perfection. There is a human being paying for the merchandise that IS allowed a preference for how to complete the transaction. Mr Penney would be so sad. He would have NEVER protected such an impetulant excuse for a retail clerk nor a store manager. Need I say more? However the store that was built on his values no longer honors that code.

Overrated and overhyped…read more Stopped in the other day while I was at the mall and while the visit was short and sweet, I was reminded of why I rarely shop at Lush. Starting with the good, the store itself was clean and fully stocked, the mixture of smells from all the tester products being used or on display was intense but still pleasant, and we weren't hounded by an associate. Well, we would have been had we not been ready to check out by the time the single associate present was finished with the customer ahead of us. I add the last point because it is a HUGE reason why I stopped going to Lush. Per an ex-employee I went to university with, employees are forced to give long spiels every collaboration or special event the store has to each customer that enters, otherwise they face consequences. Having learned this, I can't blame them when they follow me around the store until the obligatory sales pitch is over because I wouldn't want my pay docked either. That being said, it's still a hassle, and it already costs a small fortune to buy anything. For the Mario Movie Rosalina lip scrub and body spray I dared to venture into the store for it was over $70. If it wasn't for the fact that it was a gift, I quite frankly would have left without them. I could expect these prices from higher end brands, but I can't say these products lived up to their price tags. The lip scrub was the better of the two, though I've tried better lip scrubs, and the 'grape scented' body spray just didn't smell like grape. I'd say if you're really into a certain collaboration they have to offer, it might be worth it. Otherwise, I'd say do your research on skin care and body cosmetics because you can find better ones out there for similar prices and less hassle.

Upon entry, the floating aroma of various herbs and natural perfumes greeted me. The employees were kind and helpful as usual. I purchased the foaming milk bar and went away from my usuals and decided to try a couple of new bath bombs. I bought the Surprised Patrick bath Bonn and a Barbie bath Bomb. I have since used them both and they were not bad but I will stick to my usuals in the future. The Surprised Patrick turned the water the same color as the bath bomb. It left a residue in my bath tub (probably the coconut oil) and after dissolving, Patrick's pants were floating in the water! That was a hilarious surprise!!! I had the same experience with the Barbie bomb...pink residue. I also decided to try their organic deodorant, Aromaco, which I have fallen in love with. I have been using this deodorant and it lasts all day long with no irritation. It smells of fresh linen-clean and patchouli spice. I LOVE It! And er... consider leaving the kids at home if they like to touch EVERYTHING and will nag endlessly until they coerce you into buying it all for them. I don't know the rules to become a vendor and showcase your goods there for sale, but much of the merchandise within are handmade, eclectic, creative and so much fun. Brace yourself for the most colorful clothing, sparkly things and mischief and decor that will make your heart smile. They have the cutest handmade jewelry and I even witnessed one technician soldering a "permanent" chain bracelet on a customer. I gotta try that! There are no "workers" on the floor, aside from the tea shop workers (who are so nice!) and you just snatch up whatever you'd like to buy and take it up to the front to pay.
