Then again yesterday, instead of immediately sending us to er with acute respiratory distress, we were told he probably had congestive heart failure, to expect him to die any day, to take him home and love on him, to start lasix and consider a cardiologist consult. Upon questioning that assessment, we chose to instead take him to er today. The excellent er doctor at another facility took one listen to both his lungs and heart. Without running a single test she was able to determine that this was probably not heart related. An x ray confirmed prolonged, untreated asmtha, a collapsed lung, and a perfectly healthy heart. The good news is he is going to be okay with proper treatment, the bad news is that if we would have blindly trusted this vets' assessment, it could have been a very different outcome and poor prognosis.

How lucky to find a holistic vet within a 5 minute drive from home! Only the first available appointment was about a month out. It was worth the wait. We were greeted by name as we entered for the first time, and were escorted to the "exam room". It was really more a replication of a small family room, complete with a fireplace, hearth with a basket of dog toys, fluffy dog pillow and cozy love seat. Book shelves filled with books, and other decorative touches made this a welcoming rather than clinical atmosphere. It was like sitting with a neighbor; her gentle pet touch is an examination. Gentle is the word that characterizes everything about this wellness center. Dr Sivula listened thoughtfully and, given his recommendations, well understood my concerns. Most impressive was the request for follow up ... the interest in knowing how my pet responds to a course of action. We're trying a nutritional approach with supplements. My dog needed emergency surgery to get a foreign object out of her stomach and intestines and after calling a billion places, Yellow creek jumped onto the case and did everything they could! They provided updates throughout the entire process and Dr Owen along with his staff are incredibly kind. Unfortunately a surgery like this is expensive anywhere, however, Yellow creek was the most affordable! The surgery was a success and I couldn't be anymore grateful!
