1/2 order Bourbon apple pie French toast, eggs, bacon
    Tami W.

We came in with 10 people and were able to be seated right away. The waiter was great. The French toast flights were amazing. A few people got those, most everyone got French toast of some sort. I had the bourbon apple pie French toast 1/2 order. It was delicious! The whipped butter with maple syrup (I think) was really good. We didn't need butter or syrup on the French toast, but had to have some of the butter on it because it was so good. This place was just a little cramped but was constant with people coming in/out. If in the area again, I would definitely go back.

Disappointing. Server offered Catfish only to learn they did not have any. While the French Toast flight was tasty, I had to send it back due to every piece being cold. They put it in the microwave to reheat it. I would not return or recommend.

Caramel French toast and chicken sausage really good _ BYOB made it even better, waitlist moved fast and the service was good

It started out with a FREE street parking spot (the whole area out front is unmetered) so we were excited that this will be an easy place to revisit. The interior is bright and sunny and we were greeted warmly. There were a bunch of specials but because it was our first visit, we wanted to try the regular menu. The French toast flight and breakfast wrap came out and looked awesome. They tasted great as well. Portions were good sized and everything was served quickly. Service was really kind and genuine. We will definitely return!

Chicken and waffles, shrimp jambalaya omelette, and brownie french toast

Chicken and Waffles were perfect! The waffle is lightly sweet with cinnamon like spices. The chicken breast has a mild herb seasoning the hot sauce I got on the side and it was perfect for dipping the chicken breast. There are small pieces of chicken inside the waffle. Good serving size for $20. My boyfriend also got a side dish that came with a salmon croquette, a shrimp with a jambalaya omelette and brownie French toast. It was a small serving size for $30. The service was ok and the wait was only 15 minutes at the most. (It wasn't crowded) Ambiance was nice, it's a small restaurant probably could use some decorating.

This was the best French toast I've ever had! And our server was great, he was very funny and friendly and made the whole experience very memorable. I would highly recommend going here!

I actually liked the food here. We got there as soon as it opened but it got busy really fast. A friend of mine invited me to come and told us getting there right at open is the best time to beat the crowds. It fills up fast and I did see people wait for a long time. It does get loud like your typical eatery and definitely wait a bit more than usual, this is not a fast food place. Now for the food, I liked the French Toast Flight that was recommended to me. The Toadt had a nice subtle crunch, wasn't overly sweet, didn't feel too heavy after biting in, and the presentation was great. I didn't mind the wait as I chatted for awhile. Didn't try anything else though, but honestly I liked it. I guess the only downside is the wait time. Overall get here early for the best experience.

Food was bomb, the wait not so much lol but I guess it comes with wanting quality food. The service was okay. It was very cool to see the mayor walk in. The place itself is just a regular restaurant and the ambiance seems good for anyone.

Food was good! Service was wonderful. The prices not so much. Somewhat on the expensive end for just breakfast.

Batters & Berries on State Street is a newer spot with a good vibe. It was a bit crowded, so there was a short wait, but once seated the service was great...our waiter was helpful with food suggestions It's BYOB Food wise, the jerk chicken was tasty (though not spicy), and the salmon croquettes were decent but a little salty in my opinion (I'm picky because my mom makes the best). My friend preferred the croquettes, while I leaned toward the jerk chicken. The French toast flight was the highlight for me..every flavor was good, but the caramel was amazing. I also love that the restaurant is Black owned, with a fun purple & yellow theme tied to the owner's fraternity. Overall: great service, good food

Just finished and it's time to celebrate!

Came here to enjoy a delicious breakfast and support our local businesses/ people to celebrate our month of February after running in the Miles Per Hour race at the Auto Show. What a pleasant surprise ! We were seated right away, service was great, food selection was awesome and everything was delicious ! Would highly recommended this spot anytime you are visiting the area if you want a great meal with a smile in a relaxed setting (without the boujee attitude or atmosphere )! We will definitely be back !

If you follow me, you know how I feel about Batters & Berries. It's a no-brainer - whenever I am in Chicago, we're going. I think having rotating French toast flavors is one of the most brilliant ideas, and when they are executed like Batters & Berries does - it's surely a treat. I won't go too in depth on my review, because it's biased, I've already done one and I LOVE THIS PLACE, but we did stop in for my best friends Bachelorette Brunch at the new location on State Street and had a ball. Parking was a breeze, the new location is also a bit more spacious, with plenty of seating and the familiar warm vibes of the others. Our server was as sweet as pie and that Peach Cobbler French Toast with the catfish plate on the side...to die for. The flavors are immaculate, we brought our own bottle to pop because we are no stranger to the BYOB policy and truly had an enjoyable time 10/10 NO NOTES - ever. We also may or may not have asked for a few containers of hotsauce for later

I don't recommend this place!!! Our waitress was awesome!! She was not the reason for this poor review. The inside is so cute but we were very quickly dissatisfied. My friend and I ordered breakfast sandwiches and they got my order wrong. I asked for ham but received bacon. I told our waitress and she took it back to the kitchen, apologized, and then got my food around 10 minutes later. Mind you, it took like 30 minutes to get our food after we ordered. Also, the eggs made my friend and I sick. We asked for them scrambled but they were very runny. My friend couldn't even finish them and I had a stomach ache later on. Make sure you check in with the host if you get in the yelp waiting line!! Normally I will receive a text saying "your table is ready, please see host" but my text said "please check in with host upon arrival." This was just a misunderstanding on my part so I wasn't too upset. I'm more disappointed with the over priced food, wait times for service, and the quality/accuracy of the food. Not worth it.

They are known for their steak sandwich (always my pick). Their fried mushrooms are a great Chicago classic. The pizza by the slice is also delicious. Plenty of choices for vegetarians. Vegans might have a bigger challenge finding items... but the Italian ice is worth the visit! The vibe is casual, but grab a table and stay awhile. Perfect spot to eat and watch a Sox's game! Plenty of space for bigger groups as well. Everything is counter service, but food comes out quick and hot! If you are a local who remembers how Portillos used to be... come to Ricobene's. It's untouched by private equity and perfect!

I've tried the pizza slices, beef sandwich, and the steak sandwich. Not impressed with any honestly. It's edible and you're in the city with free parking under the bridge. That's all I got lol. Steak is messier than hell but I'm not a fan of the taste. It's breaded. Pizza was very gas station like. And the Italian beef meat was so chewy and full of chunks and dry. It was gross. Lacked flavor also. I couldn't believe I was in the city eating a beef and I was actually wishing it was any other brand for some flavor and moist, tender, and fresh meat. The place is packed everyday so there's a lot of tables coming and going. They really should have workers constantly cleaning and clearing tables and garbages because they were all dirty or full.

Small spot you could casually pick up food and walk to if you're around downtown. Lots of cheese and sauce with a beautiful baguette to remind you that this place makes pizza too. Dough, cheese, and sauce are what this place really excels in. It's no surprise that they do it well across the board. Out of the sandwiches I tried, the gardinera pairs the best with the Drunken Chicken sandwich. I'm unsure if my hunger pangs were amplifying my experience, but this sandwich was something of legends... The ingredients combo into something a little too unfair to not be distributed to the rest of America. The food really feels special when you have it late night after a really long day of fun. The people are casual and nice and didn't make it awkward to eat there even though the place itself is quite small. Considering cops came in to order here out of all the places around, I can see how anyone could make this their staple spot.

It is shareable and hearty. The bread is so good. It's crusty and soft on the inside. It allows the right amount of sauce to soak in without being a giant mess. I don't consider it a save half and eat later sandwich though. In my experience it loses a bit of structure if not eaten right away. I have had the turkey, tuna, and meatball sandwich as well. All good and able to split into 2 meals and they save well. As mentioned, this spot is on repeat for me and haven't disliked anything. The pizza is ok but I wouldn't choose it as my pizza spot. There are better but if you are in a pinch a single slice option is nice. I enjoy the little Tiramisu cup. Perfect size. If you normally scroll by and wonder if you should try Nonna's go ahead. It's a good option.
