When I tell you this place did not disappoint it did not disappoint! From the excellent customer service from our waiter Abraham who indulged in our foolery amongst our table , to the food suggestions I am grateful for that . The bad and bougie smoothie was so very good fresh and tasty . The fried catfish was fried and seasoned perfectly. The macaroni n cheese and sweet potatoes were both divine. I also ordered peach cobbler to go to eat later . I am sure it will be delicious as well . 5 stars on this one I highly recommend you checking it out . I even have food for leftovers they give you great portions fyi .

First visit to Chicago and was looking for good soul food. I will admit the food was delicious! However it was an extremely long wait. It is an extremely small place. I think if you only have 3-4 booths you should place some kind of limits on how long you can sit at a table so that you can accommodate more customers. When we arrived we were told 15-20 minutes. We waited about an hour. Then we were told that we should just sit at a table near the door (that was not clean by the way) because if not we may not even be served. At this point we are 30 minutes in. I was not interested in sitting in these high chair right by the waiting area. We were eventually seated. It was a booth that was basically made in half so you it is semi-private and you are dining with people who are not in your party. Enjoyed the meal, however was not expecting a 18% service charge for a party of 2. The long and short of it, is the food was great. But I don't think I will be returning here. The music is also very loud and hard to have a conversation since everyone is yelling.

They don't seat diners the last half hour; only accept takeout. The vegan wings in the 226 sauce were so yummy! That sauce is bomb; they could bottle and sell it! The vegan beans and rice were tasty and the vegan mac was pretty good too!

Food always consistent. Normally, I am afraid to order something different however I've been back twice within a week . Soul vibes is the place!!! definitely worth more great reviews might add the Cocktails are definitely 10/10 food always hot and consistent. I love the catfish mac & cheese sweet potatoes . Lamb chops are also good tender flavorful , red beans and rice is so good. Thanked me later. Ask for a Shay she's a jack of all trades. Definitely deserve a raise.

After seeing this place all over my Tik Tok, I knew that I had to visit Soul Vibes as soon as I landed in Chicago. Despite arriving close to closing time, the staff was very accommodating. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the customer service was on point. The decor was really cute, with plenty of cute photo spots. We started with the Lobster Deviled Eggs, which were AMAZING! Though I'm normally not a lobster fan, I found myself absolutely loving the combination. The Soul Roll, a fried egg roll stuffed with mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, and collard greens, was also AMAZING. Such a unique and delicious combination. Chef's kiss. For my drink, I had a Lychee Strawberry Margarita, which was really refreshing and tasty. For my entree, I had the chicken wings with mac and cheese and cornbread. While the wings were standard, the mac and cheese and cornbread didn't quite hit the mark. Mac wasnt giving baked mac. It just seemed like regular macaroni. Our waiter mentioned that since we arrived late, the dishes might not have been prepared as they typically would be. Overall, my friends and I agreed that the appetizers stole the show, and I'd definitely return just for those Lobster Deviled Eggs and Soul Roll! The drinks were great too. My friends enjoyed a Lemon Drop flight. Despite the late hour, the staff never rushed us and even turned the music back on when we asked. If you're in Chicago, definitely make a stop here. Just make sure to go earlier to fully enjoy everything on the menu!

    CATFISH & GRITS

I came here for brunch with a friend of mine and honestly the food was amazing. The fried catfish was seasoned well and went well with the grits. It came out hot and flavorful. I had ordered a side of sweet potatoes although it was good I thought it was cooked down to almost a porridge which was different. The service was a bit slow and there is a one hour timeframe at a first come first serve basis. Overall, I liked the quality of the food.

This was absolutely a 5 star experience! Walking into this cute quaint space was very welcoming. Then I was pleasantly surprised by the service, the menu, and the quality of the food. We ordered the Dusse drink tower, salmon bite appetizer, lobster deviled eggs, and the brunch tower with lobster tails, strawberry shortcake waffles, banana pudding French toast, potatoes, eggs, beef bacon, turkey sausage, chicken wings, and oysters. Everything was delicious and we were stuffed. Our server Malcolm was wonderful! I literally wanna go back before I leave town. Lol. Definitely check this place out!

Soul rolls 10/10! Lamb chops and garlic mash seasoned perfectly. Mango, peach lemonade was great! Hate they forgot to pack my cornbread, other than that food was 2 thumbs up.

I ordered pickup online, so I didn't get to have a dine-in experience. The person at the door got my food and brought it to me immediately. It seems busy on a Saturday, so make reservations to avoid a long wait. Love: online ordering system (easy to use; timely updates); chicken wings (seasoned to perfection); packaged well Like: red velvet waffle (thin waffle, would have preferred a thicker waffle)

Warning: Be prepared for a long wait for seating, place is rather small and highly popular. When I received the food/drinks, I understood why! Omg, the food is delicious! Drinks are A1. Everything was well worth the price point and server was attentive. My friends and I got the tower , highly recommend! We also tried the lobster deviled eggs and hot honey salmon bites. 10/10!! Will definitely return.

It's very clean and modern. The food was amazing. I started off with a peach lemonade/tea drink that was very good. I cannot remember the name, but it was spirit free. Next, I got the collard green dip. This is a must try when you go. Its so cheesy and delicious. It was perfectly seasoned. For my entre, I got the smother pork chops. OMG I did not expect that food to be so good. IDK what they seasoned that gravy with, but it was fire. The porkchops were delicious, and I loved the seasoned rice that it came with. My only complaint was that the kitchen moved very slowly on the night that I went. Front of the house staff was very nice and kind and I was seated right away. However once we ordered the wait time was so bad that my cousin had finished her appetizer and we waited an additional 30 minutes for my collard green dip which was very good by the way. Everything was served one at a time with long wait times in between. By the time I received my entree I was full. I took a few bites of the Chicken and Fish and everything else I took home. Literally as soon as happy hour was over everyone around us started receiving their food very fast. The food was ok a little salty (batter from the chicken, fish and tomatoes). In addition your staff Karen was not so kind and very forgetful of what we asked for. I know she seemed overwhelmed for the area that she had. Our sentiments were shared with the manager but that was it. The owner came by to check in but she just breezed by. I'm not sure that told her of our complaint but as fast as she went by asking was everything ok I dont feel like she would have been open to what we had to say. Overall it was ok, A few suggestions...and yes I would return because maybe today was an off day and everyone deserves a chance to get it right, During Happy Hour everyone should get the same level of service, and if a different menu is offered it should be offered to everyone upon arrival. Nothing is perfect and we understand that and gave grace by waiting and being patient. But these are some easy fixes and I look forward to seeing that on my next visit!

As well as the restaurant had a noticeable dirty mop smell, which impacted the overall dining experience from the start. We also spent a significant amount on mimosas and tried the recommended lemon drop martini tree, which ended up being overly sweet and not well-balanced in flavor. Overall, the service team did not take time to properly explain menu items, pricing changes, or recommendations, which led to confusion and an unexpected bill at the end of the meal. The cleanliness was lacking and unacceptable. The server did mentioned they were moving soon. The more transparent and attentive approach would greatly improve the customer experience.

I've seen this place and have always wanted to try it but just never had the time. I ordered the meat alone. No platter with sides, just the meat so I can't review the sides. I ordered a 1/2 pound of brisket and the sliced jalapeño cheddar sausage. I believe it came in a 5 ounce portion. The brisket was wonderful! Very moist, great smoked flavor and a perfect fat cap and bark. Very, very tasty. The jalapeño cheddar sausage was equally as good. It wasn't at all spicy, but it had great flavor. I don't usually use bbq sauce on my brisket or sausage, but when I didn't request any sauce, the gentlemen behind the counter suggested I just try the mustard sauce with the beef. What the heck, I tried it. It's probably one of the best Georgia style mustard sauce I've had. It's got that mustard flavor with that vinegar twang, but besides some black pepper, I can't tell what other spices are in it. But it really is good. I still like the brisket without sauce, but this mustard sauce in my opinion is really good. I see other reviews people complaining about the cost of the bbq. Most people don't understand what goes into creating great bbq. The cost of meat, the cost of wood for smoking, the time (12 to 16 hours for brisket). These places aren't just throwing this meat on a roller grill and waiting for it to drop off the other side. Great bbq is a work of art. Soul and Smoke dished me up a work of art. I will definitely eat here again.

I ended up ordering the smokey joe sandwich (vegan sloppy joe sandwich), with a side of mac + cheese, and a sprecher soda. Whether I'm using Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it's so convenient. I also want to praise my delivery driver for arriving at a reasonable time with my order and meeting me right in front of my residence. Grateful to have had a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again is very high. As for my order, my first response after my first bite of the vegan sloppy joe was, "Mmm, that is good!" If you are a foodie like me, then you know what the next few minutes--or, better yet, seconds--consisted of. Yes, I pretty much devoured that vegan sloppy joe, leaving nothing behind but what was left on my fingertips. The last time I had a vegan sloppy Joe was a few years ago in celebration of my birthday, and trust me, it wasn't as good as this one at Soul & Smoke. It could easily be confused with real meat if you aren't aware that it is vegan. I saved the side order for last, which was that delicious-looking mac and cheese. Mmm... "Oh my God!" was my initial response after my first forkful, which was lightly seasoned with a delightful taste. I must say it was the perfect side for the vegan sloppy joe. After my last bites, I had the slightest grin on my face, and the only thing on my mind was that I will definitely have it again in the future. The sprecher soda - cherry cola was the perfect complement to my meal. Introduced to me by Soul & Smoke, I am so pleased with this award-winning craft soda from Milwaukee's oldest craft brewery that I will be on the lookout for it in the future. I would gladly order from Soul & Smoke Avondale again, whether online or whenever I am in the area. With that, I am happy to share my endorsement of it with you all here on Yelp.
