Batteries less than one year old died and they said they would not replace the battery, this is AFTER the employee said that the batteries are back in spec... What a LIE! I have purchased dozens of batteries from Batteries Plus and have never had to bring a battery back for warranty but now I know they don't stand behind their product. I want to personally thank Sean (or Shawn?) for outstanding customer service. Both in speaking to him on the phone and on-site, he was exceptional. When it was clear they didn't have the FOB onsite, he ensured that one was available at another location (Chantilly) and could be installed the same day and let me know about a promotion available for key fobs. Does not recycle batteries. I took a few rechargeable batteries there to recycle, thinking the battery specialist would recycle them since they already sell and replace them. Well, they will but they weigh the batteries and charge you. Not worth the trip. Just buy your batteries online. read more

Had to write an update to Batteries Plus. Lowering my rating for now to one star due to two things: (1) A policy of not accepting non-rechargeable batteries for recycling (unless I was willing to pay them a fee to recycle the batteries) and; (2) The two staff people in the store today - advising me to just throw the batteries in the trash. The rationale they used was that my few batteries would not effect the environment. I responded that might be fine if I were the only one in the world throwing out my batteries - but that is clearly not the case. The cumulative impacts of everyone doing this - is not a good thing. We need to continue to recycle batteries so that metals are recycled and any toxics are prevented from entering the ecosystem. I've since discovered that Prince William County accepts non-rechargeable batteries for recycling. read more

The guy at Radio Shaq told me over the phone; he couldn't tell me if he had the cord in stock, I would have to bring it to the store...I did and he didn't. I called Micro Center in Fairfax. I needed a certain LED flood light as one of the five used around my house started flickering. A search online for the type of light showed that Batteries Plus stocks and sells the exact light fixture I need to replace my defective one. After verifying on their website that the manassas store had them in stock I made the trip out to the store to purchase. Turns out they don't have it, have never seen or heard of this type of light, and would reach out to the vendor to see if they could get it but, and I quote, "you would have to pay for them to ship it here to the store". I literally could have ordered it for pickup online with no shipping charges. They claim they would have cancelled the order. Other locations nearby show they have it in stock online but manassas location says no one has it. Wow. What a waste of my time and I'm definitely not paying for shipping after they already wasted my time with false advertising. I was told there is nothing they could do as corporate controls the website. Not true, you can call corporate and complain your customers are upset because their system is not accurate. Bought a battery 11 months ago that I've had to recharge numerous times. So finally I gave up and brought it back to the store cause I had a 1year warranty on it that I didn't know they put certain stipulations on. The employee at first tried to say the battery was fine after putting his meter on it then decided to put a different meter on it and say oh wait it doesn't have any cranking amps. So their policy is to hold your battery for 24hrs and charge it and then have you comeback to pick up a dead battery cause the cells inside are dead. So now I'm stuck with a crappy battery that is dead and I can't use. Get what you pay for that's for sure. Be careful out there with these guys their product is not worth the time or money. read more

I didn't know this existed until I needed a very odd battery for a tool I had. This store was convenient and the guy working there was very helpful and found exactly what I needed. The price was cheaper than what I had found on amazon for this particular battery. They have every battery imaginable and if they don't they can order it or tell you where to find it. They also have a lot of battery chargers if someone is visiting and forgets to pack one. If you have an ATV, jetski, boat, lawnmower, pacemaker, laptop, whatever, they got you covered. I typically find Batteries Plus to be overpriced but the batter we got when we stopped in was not that bad. We needed one or two extra batteries for our camera as we were going to a concert but they only had one in stock. That's fine as that is all we needed. I would give this place zero stars if I could. I went in yesterday to buy a replacement battery for my Fitbit zip. It's a small coin sized battery I could get on Amazon for cheap but there were a lot of complaints of low battery life. I decided to go to a battery store for a quality battery. When I put the generic Nuon CR 2025 battery for $3.99 the Fitbit doesn't even turn on. After a lot of tapping and syncing with the app it turns on and it seems to work fine. Not even 24 hours later of wearing the Fitbit... 1) the Fitbit wasn't even on for most of the day because I got less than 500 steps and I walk .4 miles to work. 2) the low battery signal comes on. I put the old Maxwell battery in that came with the Fitbit. The low battery light is flashing but at least there was no delay in it turning on. Long story short a battery sold me an old, defective battery. What a waste of time and money. read more

Went to 3 places to get iPad screen fixed, best buy where I waited in line while the geek squad was busy taking pictures of themselves and ignoring their customers, waited 20 min to be told that they could only fix IF I had purchased the geek squad plan .... I needed a new battery for my Seiko Watch. I never bought a watch battery and asked the Sales Associate, Brian for help. His attitude sucked. He was condescending and rude. I told him I wasn't sure what kind of battery I need, can he help me. He said, "I don't know what kind of battery you need either, it's your watch. It should say it on your instructions.." He also couldn't help me figure out what kind of battery I needed for a Halloween Display I brought in. He handed me a box of worn out batteries and told me to try to figure it out! We took my daughter's phone here to be repaired because that's the location the phone insurance made us go to. The camera and the flashlight were broken. We dropped it off on a Monday at 10:30 and was told it would be 3 hours. By closing time, it still wasn't done, with many excuses to back up their poor customer service. We were promised the phone by Wednesday. When Wednesday afternoon came, by 2:00 we had heard nothing. When we called, we were told it still wasn't fixed, and it would be another couple days. I wanted the speak to the manager, but he wasn't there. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. If you have a choice and you're not using insurance, go somewhere else and save yourself the hassle. read more

Pathetic! Unless you need it today and it's a commonly used bulb, your best is to buy on eBay. Being a local business person I like to give local businesses an opportunity. I went to this batteries plus bulbs for a parking light for my car. I on 22 August I placed an order for a bulb he assured me it would be here with in six days or they would call. I paid for it in full and return on 3 September and they told me they did not have it and it and it will take several more weeks! But they could not tell me how many weeks because they didn't know. They said they need to place a minimum order of $50. I quickly looked up the bulb on eBay and found that I can buy 20 of them for $9.95 with free shipping. This is not the first time I've gotten the runaround with this company. again they're overpriced with not much selection. I doubt that they'll be around in 5 years. Had an 18 volt Dewalt drill battery go bad on me in the past couple of weeks..I went to Home Depot to buy a replacement,and found out it would cost $75.00..So I thought I would go to Batteries Plus to see if they had it,and how much it would cost there.So I get to the store on Sudley Dr., and the counter guy tells me that most people with that type of battery have them replace the rechargeable batteries inside the case,and the cost would be $54.05 including tax,I thought,well now that's a good deal,so because I was all set to buy a new one I didn't have the dead battery with me,so the next day I brought it back to them to have it reworked. Three days later I went to pick it up,got it home and thought I would connect it to the drill to see if the new batteries had any charge in them,only to find out the clips that hold the battery to the drill had not been reinstalled correctly,so back to the store I go to get that fixed..(if you are counting,that is trip number four,and the store is eleven miles one way,from where I live) when I get there,the guy on the counter takes it back,takes it apart,installs the clips properly,and I take it home again, I connect it to the drill to check the clips,and find out the battery is completely dead,which I kind of expected..So I put it in the charger,only to find out it is not taking the charge,I leave it in the charger overnight,take it out the next morning,connect to the drill,just to find out it is still dead,so here we go for trip number five..Got to the store,told the counter guy I thought it best for me to get my money back,so with no argument at all,one counter guy put the $54.05 back on my credit card,and the other guy took the battery apart to find that the batteries had not been soldered together(or as the one guy said,they had not been "welded" together) so they gave me back the empty battery case,and I left the store..So I would say the battery replacement capabilities of this store is very suspect,and I would find a more capable battery store to do business with.. it is beyond my comprehension how a store like this that only specializes in batteries and battery replacements can stay in business with this type of shoddy workmanship... btw,my wife said from the beginning "buy the $75.00 battery"...She is a wise woman.. read more

This store is simply incredible, they have all your hard to find batteries. Staff seems really nice, theyve always tested my batteries and made sure my issue is battery related so that I am not only buying the right battery but that my problem is solved. ALSO in response to the gentleman above named Neal. E I was also rather upset about that battery recycling issue and spoke to them about it...as I said they are rather friendly about it and explained to me that the non-rechargeables are made of mostly earth metal anyway, I mean technically they dont have to recycle batteries for us, and if it such a big issue then you can always do some research to find somewhere that can handle that recycling, I found out that there is a landfill around the area that does non-rechargeables for free, so I'm just gonna take mine there :) read more

Dropped my iPhone 6 and shattered the screen. Had it "repaired" by a young man working out of his parent's home in South Riding. Worked fine for 3 days, but then the screen was no longer functional. I took it to Batteries Plus and the person showed me where the new screen was already lifting because it had not been "repaired" properly. I paid $130 for this repair and it included a 6 month warranty on the work that had been done. The repair took 1 hour, which was the time promised and the phone works perfectly. I just needed a battery replaced in my phone. That was it. As I was giving them my information, another customer came in after me, but left before I did. Apparently, the guy helping me put in the wrong battery information. So, I was asked to repeat the contact info again. That was annoying enough. I was told that it would be done in about 90 mins. I came back 2 hours later and was told that the technician who was actually going to put it in wasn't getting in until 12:45 (the estimated time it was going to be completed). So, I left....again....It was 2:20 when I came back, and he was just finishing it up. There was no customer service...just the bottom line of we want the money...stuff happens attitude. Needed to find a replacement for a unique Niterider NiCD bicycle battery pack thas was nearly 20 years old. When they learned that I needed the light for my commute home, they put my rebuild request at the front of the line and finished in less than 24 hours at no additional charge. The new battery pack seems to be better than the original battery, and the charge was less than they quoted me. My husband brought in our old HD batteries to Batteries Plus and they recommended he purchase a particular battery and so he did. Well - both of the batteries started oozing lead or something - at the exact same time after my husband and I left the house and stopped to get gas for our bikes. They were oozing from the negative terminal on mine and the positive terminal on his. So....we brought them back and the Batteries Plus Manager, Jason Mitchell said that he wouldn't do anything about it...it would be approximately $240 out of his pocket... He accused us of installing them wrong (which IS NOT POSSIBLE) on our HDs...there is only one way for them to go in. Plus - our neighbor who is a professional mechanic for a local Jaguar dealership - and who builds bikes in his spare time - said that they were fine and that he had never seen such a thing happen. Jason Mitchell then accused us of using spacers....ok....I don't even know what a spacer is...we took the old HD battery out - brought it to the store - got two more and put them in.... Needless to say - we are out of about $240, had to push our bikes back home in 90 plus heat, and all the manager could do is make accusations....and our bikes are dead in the water. I used to work in the retail industry and this is not how you treat people at all. So, recommend them? Not at all. I hope this saves others from getting into the same predicament that we did. If you type their name in (batteries plus) online and search for customer service, etc....you will see that this is not a problem at just this store....but could be a Batteries Plus problem in general. Maybe they don't provide support to their franchises....I don't know. But, check it out for yourselves and then decide. read more
