They are located in California. The person with whom I spoke by phone, Timothy Rutan, is based in Ohio. He explained the entire recovery process to me. There would be no charge if the company could not retrieve my data, other than a shipping fee for the return of my ruined hard drive. I dropped off my HD at a local branch and they sent it off. Fortunately, my files could be retrieved. This was done in due course and a new hard drive containing all of my files was sent back to me. The entire process was well laid out and simple for the customer. The cost was steep, $962., but WELL worth it to me. Timothy Rutan was extremely helpful, proficient, and pleasant with all of my inquiries. I recommend this company very highly. It not only saved my files but also gave me peace of mind.

Some context regarding my dilemma: I had just built a PC which was working flawlessly. I was able…read moreto play my intended game perfectly fine with no issues. Then, while gaming, my game crashed and the computer stopped responding, prompting me to force shutdown the computer. Post crash, the game was underperforming. I tried everything software-related, from verifying the integrity of the game files to clean reinstalling Windows (three separate times, mind you), but to no avail. At this point, I'm thinking it must be hardware related, hence why I took it to the repair shop. I explained my situation to the repair shop and they took it from there. After some time, they contacted me saying that the both the graphics card and SSD (due to being at "65% health") are responsible for the horrendous performance. I went ahead and replaced said components, only to be greeted with the same horrible performance post-crash. So, I called the repair shop and they responded by saying I only "partially followed" their advice as they recommended I get a RTX 5070 instead of the RX 9070 I originally had; their argument was that the RTX 5070 is the superior card of the two and didn't have as many driver issues as AMD cards. According to them, had I gotten an RTX 5070, the PC would have been running perfectly fine like its former self. But that didn't make any sense as the PC was running fine with an RX 9070 before the crash. When I brought this point up, they started talking about how there could be problems with PCIE bifurcation, something that didn't make sense at all in explaining my horrible performance. I decided to take it to another repair shop. The repair guy over there suspected it was the motherboard. I replaced the motherboard and lo and behold, the PC was running perfectly fine, WITH the RX 9070 card that Quick Teks claimed should have been switched out for an RTX 5070 due to "PCIE bifurcation issues." I later called Quick Teks about this and they were still adamant about the situation, stating that they had mentioned PCIE bifurcation being a potential problem in their diagnosis (which isn't true as they mentioned the PCIE issues AFTER I replaced the parts and called them about the PC still having horrible performance; never was it mentioned in their diagnosis). To top it all off, Quick Teks abruptly hung up on me and sent me a text saying, "Thank you for your business. But i'm well aware of what was wrong, and what was stated previously." Absolutely unprofessional and unacceptable service.

We have a Best Buy Geek Squad service and after diagnostic work, we were told that a $450-500 repair was needed. This business offered the same repair for $150. They stated they would test the part before installing and if it did not do the trick, their labor would be $75. They also recommended a battery replacement, while the work was being completed, as mine was borderline after 3-years use. The cost of the battery would have been $75. We had checked with a non-certified Apple T-mobile store who offered us $200 on a replacement phone. Had that been our best option, I would have paid the $225 to fix my current phone (which worked well other than the charging port issue). The Pod Drop also recommended we check with a T-mobile certified Apple Store to see if there was a better deal on a new phone. We did just that and chose to turn in the phone and receive a new phone at no cost, with some tweaks to our plan that did not change the monthly payment. Returned to The Pod Drop to pick up the phone and turn it in to T-mobile. The staff were honest, informative and professional. For this interaction, they did not make a cent, yet they earned a loyal family-customers. We will return to them for all-things cellular. Noticed some good pricing on phone cases and other accessories too. I will be calling their store to check on stock and prices before ordering from Amazon or another big box store. Really appreciate small businesses like this.

On my many travels to the Pet Supplies Plus (next door to Battery Giant), I noticed a sign on the Battery Giant window for watch batteries. This sparked my attention because I have 5+ watches that were no longer ticking. On my next trip to get the pup some food, I stopped in with my watches. The staff was very friendly and the prices are reasonable (better be with 5 watches!). They actually replace the batteries for you while you wait. I went next door for the dog food, came back in 20 minutes and all the watches were done! Thanks Dave! I was also pleasantly surprised to see that they repair computers and run tune ups. This was music to my ears as my laptop has been running slow and giving me the "blue screen of death." On my next pet trip, I'm definitely stopping in with my laptop.
