I used to take my other dog there and when the assistant slapped my 15 year old dog right before he died that should have been my red flag. But again when my new dog had an emergency, I called and they ask if it's an emergency so they can get you in right away so they put me on hold and then came back on the line and said no you cannot come in today, we aren't taking any emergencies. I brought my dog here for a second opinion on his broken foot. The original vet recommended amputation. Docs recommended casting and healing the foot. They were able to save my dogs foot. A very caring and informative staff! My Bassett hurt her back and couldn't use her hind legs.... It broke my heart to see her like that. I took her to Doc's and they took SUCH great care of her. I have a small dog who is terrified of the vet. We moved to Carson from SLT and Doc's was recommended by my boyfriend. I am SO glad we picked this place. The doctor was INCREDIBLY patient with my dog. To the point where my dog, who is normally aggressive at the vet, allowed him to check his teeth and pet him. Normally my dog cries out in pain for his shots and rectal temperature check but my dog was quiet the whole time. Exam room and waiting room were both very clean. Highly recommend this establishment. Always loved the couple. A husband and wife. I wanna say handler? Anywho. The lady helps my mom with her exotic birds. And the man, has been there for so many years for everything from puppies to kittens to having to put all sorts to sleep. Ranging from dogs to guinea pigs and hedgehogs. My chow chow had her acl completely torn and it was fixed for a damn good price in comparison to other places. Before she went in he said he was concerned by a sort of a misstep he heard in her heart so he said her home with a heart monitor for 24 hours then did the surgery he called himself every time that I needed him to. Even when I didn't, to make sure she was ok. He is a little awkward with people. But every dog I have brought there loves him. And that's what matters. 10/10 loves them. This is an exceptionally good Veterinary Hospital run by a husband/wife team of veterinarians, Dr. Habeler and Dr. Chaney-Habeler. I have taken my dog there for over 8 years. They have always provided excellent pet care, usually at scheduled appointments, and several times during minor emergencies. Several safe and successful minor surgeries were performed on my pet. They have always been attentive and caring. During COVID 19, they set up their exam rooms with protective screening so the pet owner had the option of coming in with their pet and see the vet face to face while most other animal care offices demanded that only the pet enter and the owners were forced to remain outside. These vets always have taken time to listen attentively to my concerns and to fully explain any tests and procedures needed to form a diagnosis and possible treatment options. After any appointment concerning a serious issue, someone has always called the next day to check on the dog's current condition and response to treatment. All the Veterinary Technicians at this hospital have always been very educated, professional, and courteous. I've always felt comfortable trusting them to work with my little dog, and he's always been treated safely. The clerical staff has always been courteous, professional, interested, and efficient. The hospital is always clean and well appointed. Having been to many veterinarians with many pets over the years, I feel a higher level of interest in my dog's situation by everyone in this hospital. They don't see my little dog as just one more patient to get out of the way--they really demonstrate sincere interest and desire to help. Dr. Haebler and the rest of the DOCS staff are the reason I drive from Reno to Carson City for my dogs. I was introduced to them in 2011 when I moved to NV by my mom who trusted them with her dogs (I use past tense because she no longer lives in this state) so when I started my own furry family there was no question about who would take care of them. From adoption day I have put my "kids" in the care of this facility with no hesitation. Dr. Haebler is so gentle and caring knowing the pups are terrified of being in the office. When my boy managed to slice the length of his foot open Dr. Haebler didn't hesitate to stitch him up right away. He even met me on a Saturday when (despite my best efforts) my pup chewed through his bandage to fix him up. And when I adopted my little girl with a myriad of problems and fear of strangers the DOCS staff took her in and helped make her the stranger-loving pup she is today--She even let Doc pick her up and take her to the back room on a visit this summer! Except for the recent emergency vet visit I had with one of them I will never consider any other vet for them. And it is 100% worth noting, my dogs love the office staff. Donna especially makes my day. When I call she has the pups info pulled up before I can finish saying, "Hey, Donna, its Rachel..." and when we go in for appointments my boy excitedly jumps up to the counter to say hi to her. We've been bringing our 12-year old Schipperkes here almost exclusively since they were born. We only switched vets when we moved out of state for a few years and couldn't wait to get them back here. One of my first experiences at DOCS was around 13 years ago, when I had to put my cat down. While it was heartbreaking, Dr. Haebler made my sweet boy as comfortable he could and I've loved DOCS ever since. Dr. Chaney-Haebler is fantastic, as well, as is their entire staff. Took in my 17 year old crippled lab to say our final good bye's and put to sleep. Very good staff and caring. I'll tell all the ups and downs, that we experience. We had Charlotte (our pup) driven down to the hospital, and the staff help us get her out of the car onto a gurney, and taken in! Being in health care myself (pharmacist) the family was not aloud into getting her prepped (poor) was met by a staff member about cost, and the cost of her remains ( extremely poor) to care about the payment b4 "if" we were going through with this. Then she was taken to us in a observation room. The doctor came in with a assistant, the doctor was not very good with his wording and left us with his assistant, she made us feel much better, and that's why the four star rating. The cost were high in my opinion, since we just had this same thing done last year in a Vegas veterinarian hospital. And of corse last, and I believe this has little to do with DOC, is the remains that cost overall $400.00, was a box without a name plate or anything. Was told we would get a call to pick her up in 14 days, 21 days later I called and found out she was waiting to be picked up. I had to put a pet down and the staff was so compassionate and great. After a sudden and rapid deterioration in health, I was referred to DOCS because they treat unusual pets. They got me in same-day which really decreased my pet's suffering. They were quick and professional as well as empathetic and caring. My dog was hurt and bleeding out from a cut artery. I rushed her to DOCS Veterinary Hospital. As my dog lay bleeding out on the floor they refused to help her because I did not have funding. I offered to make payments to no avail as my baby lay bleeding out on the floor while the vet walked past the window looking in. I asked if I could have a friend pay with a credit card over the phone from out of state, and they refused. I left with bloody foot prints still on the floor. Guess that is why they didn't go into pediatrics... Two days later I went to have my dogs bandage changed. They stated they saw my review and told me to leave and not come back. We adopted our beloved blue-nose pit, named Kiara from my boyfriend's sister about 4 years ago and she has been seeing Dr. Haebler ever since she was a puppy. The bf's sister lived in Dayton so it made sense for them to have a vet in Carson. However we live in Reno. Reno is saturated with vet hospitals but we wanted to keep Kiara at Docs Vet for the reason being that Dr. Haebler and his staff has taken care of her all these years. I am glad we stuck with this decision because Dr. Haebler has been nothing but amazing to Kiara. Dr. Haebler always goes above and beyond his duties as a veterinarian. He is passionate about what he does and he genuinely cares about your furry family as much as you do. The staff is always so friendly. Whenever I come in, Kiara is greeted with so many smiles and happy faces, and everybody just wants to pet her. I'd like to think that Kiara is one of their favorites just because of how well she is treated there but I'm sure this is just the standard. They have also worked with our schedule since we are coming fromm Reno, and this is greatly appreciated. The drive to Carson from Southwest Reno is not convenient for us, especially when we have plenty of other vet options in town. But, we really don't care. We will drive hours just to see Dr. Haebler. Knowing that your furry family is getting the best care out there is important to us and Dr. Haebler provides this and then some. read more

I took my 12 week puppy for her second parvovirus/distemper shot. i was immediately put off at the door being locked during business hours. if walmart and my doctors office can be full of patients i don't know why a vet would be so concerned. we were then given our paperwork to fill out in the car and were told only my wife or myself could enter not both. we waited 20mins for someone to come get us. when they did come, they told us they would prefer to treat her curbside and asked if that was a problem. we said no it wasn't , she then took the dog inside without one of us (huh?) when we thought she meant she was going to give her a shot outside. 15mins later i'm getting pissed off. then the vet calls on our phone and proceeds to do our visit over the phone while he's 50feet away with our puppy! we can't see what kind of treatment she is getting or if in fact he is really doing anything at all. he then goes on to interview us about all the information we would have gladly shared in person including info on who administered her first shots. he went on to tell us how people who give shots are unreliable and sometimes don't keep their drugs at the proper temperatures so he keeps referring to her treatment as her first shots, obviously questioning our documentation without even asking to see it. he then tells us not to take her to parks as it can be dangerous for her to be around other dogs fecal at this young of an age as she could could get parvovirus. i told him the only unsafe place she has been is your clinic. i tell him about the piles of garbage and poop in the field next to his business and that i tried to take my dog to pee while we were waiting but it was too gross. he said " that's the groomers next door". regardless, it was the only bad place my puppy had ever been. if you like to meet your pets doctor and see what kind of care they are given, i recommend going somewhere else. read more

When making the appointment, I was informed an overnight stay was required for my pet for observational purposes. Their price was reasonable so I went along with it. While dropping off my pet and signing the standard we-ain't-liable-for-nothin' paperwork, I'm made to acknowledge they don't have any overnight staff so there will not be anybody around to do said observing! Also, they kept my pet carrier overnight without asking. Not a big problem but, having never been there before, it did raise a concern about whether it would be returned. read more

I will miss Dr. Dave because he is truly good, but his wife, who is also a vet there, has the bedside manner of a toad! She argued/yelled at me in front of other customers and staff, concerned more about being right and charging exorbitant fees than for the well-being of my dogs. It was handled poorly. After 14+ years of bringing my pets there, to say I'm disappointed is an understatement. What was originally quoted wasn't even close to the price Dr. Cheney tried to charge me. When Dr. Haebler first moved from Reno to Carson City, we tried quite a few vets in Reno, but never found anyone we liked as much as Dr. Haebler. We still take our dogs to him, despite the drive, because they deserve the best. For over fifteen years now, he is by far the most dedicated vet we've ever had. And the only vet that phones after a visit to check on how the pet is doing. You can tell right away that Dr. Haebler genuinely cares about animals. This clinic likes to pick and choose what animals they treat, and they send the dirty work to the other local vets in the area. I am sure they appreciate that! My dog was in a lot of pain and not in the best mood as I warned them, yet when we got there the receptionist comes up behind him and tries to lift him on the scale by grabbing his bad hip. It takes 15 minutes to calm him down and muzzle him (yes I had to muzzle him after that) and the lady vet was rude and nasty with me. She even threw the muzzle at my feet. He was then calm and muzzled and they turned us away. I later find my dog's hip has gotten worse and he has diabetes. My advice is to pass this clinic up and go to a REAL vet! read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I took my boy Sam, a border collie/lab to their office for the third visit. When we were checking in, Sam got off his collar cause he was scared and was trying to get out the door. I was going to put collar back on, when the receptionist went past me with a slip rope collar that resembled a noose and proceeded to corner my dog and put the rope around his neck. I grabbed it off him and we went into the exam room to wait for the Dr. While waiting, Sam was shaking real bad. We decided to walk out. Then I called to make another appt to give them another shot, and they tell me; " it would be in the offices best interest if Sam didn't come back". Wait a minute.. You're gonna blame a scared dog!! What kind of vet are you? He wasn't barking, making no sudden crazy movements, wasn't growling at the lady... He was trying to get out the door and you feel threatened by that? Why? Maybe she shouldn't be working with dogs if she's scared of them!!! Great Dr.. Horrible staff in front office!! I will take my boy to someone who is compassionate with scared dogs! He may be 90lbs and black, but he's a good boy and he wasn't carrying a gun or nothin.. read more

I took my beloved, very loved 4 year old Boxer, Tahoe, to Dr. Jeanine -Chaney, thus. Dr J for updated Parvo, I have always had setters. I am a 40 year Public Servant, no children, thus my pups are my life. They sustain me. Dr J immediately saw what I described, naively, as a "wart" growing exponentially. Dr J, with her wisdom, expertise immediately stated that needed t be looked at seriously. She stated it appeared to be a Mast Cell Tumor, she provided a fine needle aspiration, and praise has the functionality to provide onsite initial diagnosis in her lab. Dr J stated the tumor did show cancerous cells and needed to be removed ASAP. As her owner, I was in shock, devastated. Tahoe was in surgery 5 days later, in that time, I found another "wart" on the other side, but much smaller. Dr. J removed them both methodically, with precision, and knew she needed " wide margins" to hope we eradicated any cancer cells. I picked my precious Tahoe up 10 hours after entering surgery. Tahoe was in pain, but I was blessed to have her in my arms and at home. Dr J sent home all pain meds, antibiotics, with clear instructions. Wating in stress for the lab results to come in, and see if Dr J was able to remove the cancer. 4 days later, at our update appointment, Dr J related the results, and they were negative for cancer. I drove home listening to Xmas music and held Tahoe so close, sobbed, and thanked GOD for Dr J, her obviously enhanced medical knowledge. Tomorrow we get Tahoe's stiches out, and I can say, all my colleagues, family are so happy my little funny Boxer Tahoe will be with me for a time. I need her. God Bless this Christmas Season, and DOCS should be called Heaven Docs. Support staff are so kind, especially Debbie in the front, and all techs will be forever in my heart. read more
