Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Been going here since they were at their previous location. I'm more of a collector than a shooter and I've bought some nice rifles from John and crew. They have some military surplus things - and modern accessories. I value their advice even on gun related issues and brands they don't sell. I try not to take up too much of their time when it's crowded. They seem to have a pretty large customer base including law enforcement, many of whom like to chat. I need to stop by soon and ask about mounting a period correct scope (hard to find) on an antique rifle I bought there. I've also been there a couple of times when a rude customer makes a scene over nothing and are politely asked to leave. Went to Battlefield Adventures in hopes of buying my first edc Benchmade knife with one already in mind. While looking at the selection, what seemed to be the owner asked me if I had any questions about what the knife I was looking at. I proceeded to ask why his prices were so high compared to the knife store I went to a day prior downtown for the exact same knife. He responded with saying " you are wasting my time get out of here." I then asked him whether he was the owner or not being he was wearing a different shirt then his employees and was doing paperwork at the register and he just shrugged his shoulders and gave me a nasty face. The owner was completely unprofessional. I will never go back and spend my money here. I encourage you not to as well. read more

They have by far the biggest selection i have found and the staff is very knowledgeable of all the knives , and are very helpful on helping you find the right knife for your needs . I've been coming here sporadically since the 80's. When they first opened, most of the merchandise was cleverly camouflaged as empty shelves; they've clearly done well over the years. The owner is a congenial gent and a reminder that the British didn't forge a global empire by serving tea and crumpets. I went in and right away was judged by the owner and I looked around while they took care of customers and I respectfully asked to see a gun and then looked at it was thinking about buying it regardless of the high price I came in with cash on hand ready for large purchase. I purchased a KaBar and right in front of me the owner tells the kid ringing me up to sell me the dull blade as if I had no idea or clue what he was saying even the kid and the customers noticed ! The store fronts I look for when traveling either to next town over or across country , military surplus is on top of my list. A close second is collector car parts or "junk yards" regardless upon entering store in last hour of business I was greeted warmly, although looking rough even for my standards with black eye and a few eyebrow stitches from biking accident,The employees didn't hesitate ot pass judgement in slightest and pointed to the back room when I showed interest in bdu s. My veteran status and interest in anything surplus related was reason I wanted to spend more time then I had that day so I scheduled more free time the following day to open my wallet and support local buisiness. Another elderly customer was looking at a firearm in glass case and the owner I believe was quick to let him hold Weapon and even weighed for Him on scale. If I could rate this store lower I would! Upon entering I was ignored and hearing them conversate with customers the owners were very rude. The Gentlemen tried to sell me an illegal fore grip for my rifle and when I tried to inform him what rifles they are legal on he absolutely flipped out and his wife jumped in and they forced me to leave the store yelling and acting crazy in front of other customers. Just walked out with a killer deal on a used Glock 19. I looked like a beach bum walking in after playing some volleyball, but they still greeted me respectfully. Good customer service goes a long way and it's hard to find nowadays, especially in gun shops. I'm so glad I found them and definitely recommend coming in to check them out. Battlefield has honest prices and friendly and knowledgeable staff. Shop has a wide variety of surplus and vintage items. Flat price on dors fees with no hidden or extra fees that turners charges. Store has been serving Ventura as long as I can remember and has stayed true to its roots. As a veteran it is nice to shop at a veteran owned shop and kill sometime talking about the services. My husband and I were in here over the weekend. I will be very honest, he goes here because he is ex military so for him this store is great. He can find camo attire ( good quality ) and everything for carrying his weapons. Poor guy had to bring me here over the weekend because I need a thigh holster. Not because I carry a real weapon but because I do cosplay and needed a way to safely carry a fake weapon that would be comfortable. When you buy cheap costume stuff it gets uncomfortable fast. Instead we came here and the guys working were really nice and helpful. I was able to pick up the belt and will be back to get the thigh holster when it arrives. I tried on other ones and they were so much more comfortable then the ones I had ordered online. The guys were very knowledgeable and offered to help me with a shoulder harness? I think that's what its called. I tried several different utility belts and found the right one. This store has kept my husband coming back. read more

This is a pretty cool military surplus store and paintball supply store. They also sell knives and gun accessories. I think guns too? I was impressed by their vintage military clothing and hats, as well as their small collection/display of WWII Nazi memorabilia (medals, arm band, etc.) The items are pricey, but I'm guessing their fairly priced due to age and quality. The staff in the store was helpful and friendly and didn't make me feel unwelcome when I told them I was just browsing while waiting for the snake place next door to open. I asked about some knives and was shown some in the style I was interested in. I would definitely stop here again and will pass along the name to my friends who like WWII stuff. :) read more

Not sure when they moved from downtown Vta... This is a much smaller store, but they somehow managed to keep a good variety of products. The employees are helpful and willing to help you find whatever you need. My son buys shemaghs (sp) here. They are bit more expensive than at Turners ($14.85 vs $9.95) BUT their selection is as vast as the ocean is deep! LOL (over 10 vs 3 at Turners). They also have a good variety of sniper veils. read more

First off let me start by saying that I'm only giving this place 2 stars because one of the guys that works there is actually pretty cool. But the older British man, whom I'm assuming is the owner, is a complete a**. A good word of advice if you do decide to go to this establishment is to make sure that you know your stuff before going in. This guy will make you feel like a complete moron due to any lack of knowledge that you may have about a product. I went to Dicks sporting goods twice in one day for gun application/purchase, and they were not helpful. So I remember my dad used to go here, and the owner and employees spent time with me and answered all of my questions. Coolest-store in town. The prices have always been consistently reasonable and fair (I've been a patron since they opened on Oak St). John (the owner) and his staff are extremely pleasant, knowledgeable, helpful and spend quality time with the customers. The atmosphere is often like the old fashioned "General Store"......even the regular customers are happy to help you with questions you might have. This place is awesome. Great selection of knives, flashlights, and Molle gear of all kinds. First aid and trauma supplies as well as full kits. Very impressed with the inventory, spent an hour looking at every item. Go check them out! They keep updating new items, be prepared to spend some money if you're into tactical/edc lol. read more

I only had 10 minutes before the store was closing so I couldn't go through all the great stuff in the store. They have a pretty big selection of tactical gear and I was able to find what I was looking for (hydration pack). Prices seem on par with other stores I've been to. Julian was extremely friendly! Other staff walked by and made sure they recognized us with a friendly greeting. I just wish I had more time in the store!
