I've never really had a great experience when it comes to mechanics or auto repair shops, because I feel like I'm going in completely blind and uneducated, just hoping that the team doesn't take advantage of my naivete. However, Meekhof has always been super friendly. I've had to vist them twice in the last couple of months due to an issue in my car and they fixed it pretty quickly. They provide a shuttle service within a certain area but I didn't use it. Their hours are pretty convenient (early mornings at least) and if you can't make it before close, they can give you a call and let you pay over the phone and leave your key in a secure area to pick up your car if needed. While no one ever wants to go to an auto repair shop unexpectedly, the guys at Meekhof took care of me and explained it to the best of my ability to understand. Prices were definitely fair - I got a couple quotes from local dealerships and they beat the price by a couple hundred dollars! Definitely plan on keeping these guys as my local repair shop. read more

Just took my vehicle to Bauer, formerly Meekhof, for tire repair and after deciding to leave because a tire quote seemed exceptionally high, they wanted me to sign a refusal-of-service waiver, which I refused to do. The younger man at the counter threatened to keep my vehicle if I didn't sign it. That threat, Bauer, is not only asinine, it's legally called "an unlawful detention of property." A repair shop CANNOT hold a vehicle simply because someone refuses to sign a refusal-of-service or liability waiver. Good thing you relented. You'd have a lawsuit on your hands right now. By the way, I just got the two Pirelli tires you attempted to overcharge me on for $200 less than your outrageous quote, including all installation costs. You tried to take advantage of a woman new to GR and in need of the repair of a flat tire. But you messed with the wrong woman. Go elsewhere, people! read more

Meekhof Tires needs to review its hiring standards, so they go beyond, "How many fingers do I have up?" Meekhof Tires came highly recommended by one of their parts suppliers. My driver's side window ceased to function. After pressing the button, the window neither moved up or down and the driver was treated to a disturbing grinding noise. I brought the vehicle to my usual auto shop, Mason Street Garage. A certified, highly experienced mechanic diagnosed that the window regulator in the door needed to be replaced. However, they could not do it because part of the process involved removing the "skin" off the door and that work is more for a body shop. I told my woes to a friend who works for the parts supplier and my friend said Meekhof could handle it and that they were customer focused, honest, and fair. None of which is true. My friend then offered to get the part at cost and even wrote a note for Meekhof with information regarding the repair. I telephoned Meekhof and explained to Elana the circumstances. I assumed she was reasonably competent and understood that the problem was diagnosed and that I made clear I would bring the part. I dropped the car off at 8:00 AM on 11/10/21 expecting it would be repaired by day's end. Elana said the mechanic would call with an estimate and an expected time for the finished repair. By 3:00 I had not heard from Meekhof and called as the shop would close at 5:00. Elana transferred me to Brandon who told me, "We're looking at the car now and will let you know the cost." After the call, a red flag went up: Why are they looking at it? Shouldn't they be repairing it? However, based on the glowing recommendation from someone I trust, I assumed the mechanics were reasonably competent as well and were installing the part. Shortly after I received a text with the cost (very high for just labor: $337.50 for 2.7 hours work, that's $125.00 per hour) and that it could not be ready until "midday tomorrow barring complications." I responded "No, I will need to reschedule. Please put the part back in the car. Thank you." Another red flag went up. The mechanics knew what the problem was before they looked at the vehicle yet needed another half day to fix it even though they possessed the part. And they warned of "complications." I walked to their shop (1640 Olson NE, Grand Rapids, MI 49503) and asked Elana for the key. Elana presented a bill for $58 and change - May Day. "Why is there a charge?" I asked. "The mechanics had to diagnose the problem," Elana said. "I told you what the problem was. I even brought the part to fix it." "They put in an hour and a half of work diagnosing the problem." "Again, I already told you the problem. It is the window regulator, and it was diagnosed by a certified mechanic." "You want to talk to Brandon?" "Yes." Elana calls Brandon. They talk. Brandon never comes to the front desk. Elana hangs up the phone. "My bad. I didn't tell you there was a fee," Elana says. "Fine. I'll pay the fee," pulling my credit card out of my wallet. "No, I'm not charging you, but we won't do the repair." "I'm banned. You're banning me." "Yes, you said you didn't want the repair done." "No, I told Brandon, I would reschedule." From Meekhof's website: "We pride ourselves on our reliable customer service and our highly trained, experienced service staff. At Meekhof Tire, we want our customers to know that they can rely on us for accurate, knowledgeable, and friendly auto repairs and tire services." Bullshit! I walked out the door. Took my car to get the tire patched before driving across the country. Afterward the pressure gauge read that it was malfunctioning but I just assumed the sensor had been bumped or something. Halfway across the continent I check the pressure and it's down to half what it should be. Turns out they hadn't patched properly and just tossed the sensor in, which shattered and shredded the inside of my tire so I had to buy a new tire and sensor. Tried following up and got no response after my initial phone call. read more

The guys here are super nice. I called 3 other shops who tried to take advantage of me being a woman and tried to WAY over charge me for a simple flat repair. They gave me a fair price and fixed it in a jiff. Definitely will return when I need all new tires!! read more

I have used Meekof for years and always satisfied. They are able to source obscure tires for my older commercial lawn mower and they store my winter tires and swap out for the summer for a very fair price. Super great people and friendly. JB read more

They did work on a Nissan and they say the car is good to go, drive down the road a few miles and my engine dumps itself all over the road. They said they did an oil change but I check the paperwork and it has no mention of it, it appears they were going to change it so they drained it but never filled it up again. Since it wasn't written on the paperwork they insist that its not their problem. Any good shop would check your fluids and advise on additional repairs when you spend over $1200 on repairs but not these guys. If you are looking for good service Id look somewhere else. read more

Just wanted to give a HUGE shout-out to the guys down at Meekhof Tire. I HATE TAKING MY CAR INTO A SHOP! I am never treated how a customer should be treated, I am usually left with more questions than I came in with, and usually feel like i have been robbed. NOT ONLY did Meekhof fix my tire problems for a great price, they have some of the best customer service I have ever witnessed in this industry!! My tires were installed with a white film on the sidewalls. The store was not able to remove the staining and refused to replace the tires. I was forced to initiate a Visa charge back and only then did they offer to replace the tires. The level of service provided and integrity was so low that I am afraid to have them replaced now. read more
