We were traveling through Reno and contacted Bavarian Auto Haus early on a Friday morning concerning our 22 Mini Cooper brake noise. They informed us to bring it in, and they would try to get us repaired as soon as possible and get us back on the road again. Fortunately, the problem was minor, but the service was impeccable. Very friendly people and didn't charge us for the repair which just doesn't happen these days. My husband and I highly recommend this facility, it was clean and they troubleshot our problem within a half hour. Do not second guess yourself about using this facility, they are great. Not happy with them at all. Simple check engine light stumped them. And don't fall for the 'warranty' there isn't one. My car was misdiagnosed had to go elsewhere for proper repairs. Why after paying them to reslove the issue, they say I need $1000+ more work to 'fix' it. What about the warranty? There is none. I refused to pay them twice for the same task. Took it elsewhere for total satisfaction. I was fooled by the Google reviews, mine keeps disappearing for some reason. I feel cheated by that, the only reason I went there was they had great reviews. Took my BMW in for an oil change... they tried to claim I needed $2500 worth of work on shocks/struts.... which turned out to be completely fraudulent when I took it back to my original place in Roseville. In addition, I can't blame them for certain but immediately after the oil change the engine started smelling of burning oil... I needed a valve cover replacement with gaskets... so either they messed with it or it was insanely poor timing. (Still only ended up spending 1400 to get this fixed in roseville vs the $2500 they wanted on things that didn't even need fixing. Long story short... DO NOT GO HERE. There are much better places to go... even worth driving 2 hours down to roseville to save yourself some money and get real service. read more

I had a bad experience at Bavarian Auto Haus when my car broke down during a trip. They quoted a high price of $2332 for replacing all OE four injectors and ignition coils plus oil service when only one injector was faulty. Despite my request, they refused to replace only one injector. They said they wouldn't feel safe releasing the car without replacing all of them. Isaac said, "I don't think our mechanic will be entertaining enough to replace only one injector." After I picked up the car, it started stalling and running rough the next day. Lucky me. I requested to keep the faulty parts they replaced in my trunk, and when I compared the old parts with the new ones they installed, I knew something was mismatched. The shop denied any wrongdoing and pointed me to another problem. I had to take it to another shop to reverse the repairs they had done and fix the issue. read more

Bavarian Auto Repair provided terrible service at an outrageously inflated cost. They charged me over three times the standard rate for simple repairs, took far too long to complete the work, and then tried to upsell unnecessary additional services. Due to the unethical business practices, lack of transparency, and poor quality of service, I cannot recommend Joe's Auto Repair to anyone. In the future, I will be sure to thoroughly research any shop online and get multiple estimates before agreeing to any auto repairs. STAY AWAY!!!!! This is absolutely the worst service I have ever gotten for anything. I WISH I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS. I had issues with my car, I did a quick google search and found Barvarian Auto Haus, who specialized in Mini and BMW's. I figured this would be a good place to take my car due to this. I WAS WRONG! They charge a fee for inspecting your car to determine what the problem is and to determine what work needs to be done. That is fine...however I was told if one part was replaced it would be fixed...that turned out to be wrong...I was told if another part was replaced it would be fixed...that turned out to be wrong...I was told if another part was replaced it would be fixed...and that turned out to be somewhat true...for a few days. The car RELUCTANTLY went back again and I was told that another part needed to be replaced...turns out after that the car seemed fine...however all the other parts that were replaced were not NECESSARY! I got completely hosed for thousands...and on top of that there is an issue with the work they did and they won't even reply! And the issue with their work impacts my SAFETY!!!!!! They clearly do not do any diagnostics, or they do diagnostics but instead of fixing just what needs to be fixed, they think...what else could be related to this problem that does not need to be fixed but we can fix anyways to make more money! Also the parts they got were MORE EXPENSIVE than the parts would have cost if I would have ordered them online myself. How does that work? Are they working with vendors to overcharge for parts and then splitting the money with them? Is this legal? On top of all of this, they returned the car to me DIRTY! I am not sure if they have a cat or dog in the shop or if someone with long hair was working on my car but in addition to dirt and dust being everywhere there was hair everywhere! They seriously couldn't even vacuum out the car...that was obviously too much work for the exorbitant amount I paid. I am now going to the DEALER as these guys do terrible work and CAN NOT BE TRUSTED! It is bad when the DEALER is a better option! I suggest to anyone...STAY AWAY! The dealer may be expensive and they may jerk you around a little bit depending on the dealer but if you have had a good experience with your dealer or you trust them, if you have any issues, run to them! Or go to ANY OTHER PLACE than Barvarian Auto Haus! You will not save any money at Barvarian Auto Haus and you will get WORSE work done! Ive taken two separate BMWs that ive owned here. Both for clutch problems . One needed new replacement and they where the best bang for my buck for sure The other was my clutch fluid had a air bubble that caused the clutch to act very spongy . Jeff was very honest on what he thought to b the problem and was completely right. Huge problem thought, they replaced a bulb in my car that had a warning light on it, they didnt ask or confirm the additional charges, couple extra bucks isn't to bad of an issue.... but today the bulb goes out so I inspect how I will take apart the light housing to find out they had broke the housing and used a bolt to secure it. The head lamp is soooo wobbly . Not professional when the tech didn't let me know he would change out the bulb for additional and then breaks the lamp holder and doesnt notify me. **see picture I posted to the page** read more

I think that this place definitely deserves more stars then it has. I've taken my BMW here for multiple repairs now, some of which have cost me thousands of dollars. Given, my car is an 09 with 140,000 miles on it, things are bound to break. Jeff, is completely honest and upfront with repairs and quotes, and I completely trust them with my vehicle. He values is technicians, and his work and I appreciate that. I'd rather pay to have good work done on my car, then have a cheap crappy job done somewhere else. Let's start with Jeff, he's the man!! He's so calm and honest and he's just an awesome person! Let's get to the shop work. So I went to another shop before this, horrible experience, great people. I ended up with more problems than I did before let's just say it that way. I needed another shop and fast. My car had vacuum leaks, it was misfiring, had oil leaks. I replaced my Valve cover, the gaskets, my spark plugs and some coils, my oil pan gaskets, MAFS, Coolant Hoses and some breather hoses, the list goes on... but I can feel my car getting better every time. They'll give you the advice you need, and the work done right. If I had to say one bad thing about them, it's that I wish they would help regulars out who take their cars there often, like a payment plan or something, I know they have to run a business but sometimes it's hard out here for a student when things keep going wrong with the vehicle. Also I have never met the owner so not sure if he comes around much ? I see no need since Jeff is there anyways haha. But yes as long as I can afford it, I'll be taking my BMWs here to this shop. The mechanics are great too. If you get a chance say hi and talk to them they're really cool dudes with great knowledge about these cars. 110% recommended. read more

Last week the check engine light in my Mini came on briefly. I spoke to Mark at Bavarian and scheduled an appointment for last Friday to check the car. He checked the car and told me it needed a new thermostat. I already knew this might be the case as we have the plug in to check the car, and my husband had the part number that was the potential problem. He couldn't be sure, as he does not know if that plug in pertains to Minis in any case. He had called six places, and got a quote of $507 from Jeff at Bavarian. After Mark at Bavarian told me it needed a thermostat after he checked it. He said it had showed failure 97 times. I made an appointment for today at noon. When I arrived I was greeted by Jeff. He told me there was no quote and it would take him a while to get one. That was more than a bit suspicious, as my husband had talked to him and the car was just in last week. In about 15 minutes he gave me the quote and it was $581, not even close to what we had been told by him. He then said that in spite of my appointment, Mark had ordered the wrong part and he couldn't repair my poor Mini. I remained polite, but not please by the lack of service. Turns out that great failure of service on their part was an unexpected and lucky benefit to me: I then drove the Mini to the dealer and left it, without an appointment, to be checked. The shuttle took me home. After a couple of hours the service manager called me and told me there was absolutely nothing wrong with the Mini at all. The thermostat is just fine, the check light still isn't on. He will keep it over night and re-check it in the morning to be sure, but it is not likely there is anything wrong at all. The oil was changed only a month ago, and no service is needed. Clearly, I will never be taking any of my fancy pants cars back to Bavarian. read more

I went to Bavarian Auto Haus on 12/15/2015 to inquire about replacing the water pump in my 2009 Mini Cooper S. I've always done my own maintenance on every car I've owned, but it's cold outside and I went there on a friend's recommendation. First off, the water pump in my car hasn't failed. I noticed a small leak while changing my oil, and while that doesn't sound like a huge issue, I know firsthand how disastrous a failed water pump can be to a car. I took it to Bavarian to get an idea of how much it would cost to replace and how soon I could schedule it for service because I can't afford to be without a car for an extended period of time. I walked into the shop with a smile on my face and a polite disposition and inquired about replacing my water pump before it fails. Jeff, the service advisor, told me that the shop is not working on Mini Coopers at this time. When I asked him why this was the case, he sighed deeply and stated that Mini Coopers are "shit boxes" and he doesn't make any money servicing them. I asked for a referral to another shop but he dismissed me and told me to go to the dealer. This absolutely wasn't the service I was expecting from the "premier BMW and Mini Cooper repair facility in Reno and Sparks." Maybe Jeff was having a bad day or maybe I just drive a "shit box," whatever the case, nobody deserves to be treated with such disrespect. Bavarian Auto Haus had the opportunity to earn my business but they refused. I'm only one guy with only one car, so maybe my business isn't worth anything to them. I'll get my water pump taken care of by a shop who actually cares about individuals. read more

bought a 2003 Z4 for my son, knowing it needed some work. It had an oil leak and the top would unlatch, but the electric motors for the hydraulic top weren't working, which Is a common problem. I took it to Bavarian Autohaus for a quote. The quote came back at a touch over $11,000. I wasn't concerned about the amount as much as the details of the quote. The quote called for replacing the latch system on the top, totaling $2,200 for the labor and parts for the latch mechanism, (even though that mechanism was working fine) plus the hydraulic pumps indicating they did zero diagnostics. I asked them to do all of the work besides the top, including fixing the oil leak (which included changing the oil) brakes and a couple of other minor issues, which was about $5,000. I got the car back, and it still leaked oil. I couldn't tell much change in the volume. I took the car back, and they claimed it had a second oil leak (again, indicating they did do much in the way of diagnostics) requiring an additional $3k in repairs. On another note, although not the direct fault of Bavarian Autohaus, the brakes they put on create more dust than any other brakes I've seen in my life. I will be taking my business elsewhere for future repairs. read more

After calling several other places and getting the same old, "just bring it in and we will see what's wrong", I called Bavarian and Jeff gave me the attention of asking what was going on with my car. I then brought my 2011 BMW 328i x drive to Bavarian expecting the worst, a transmission issue. Jeff called the very next day and gave me great news that it was simply a coil not firing properly. My bmw overheated on a bad weather day on the worst blindspot on Mt. Rose Hwy. After surviving about 3 hours while waiting on a tow, I was then bullied by Silver State Tow to take my car to this "Bavarian JOKE of a place". The tow guy said if I went here that he would waive any out of pocket fees for the tow. Once I get here, Jeff informs me that he doesn't even pay Triple AAA a fee to be a preferred AAR member. On the way to his place I was frightened by the yelp posts I was reading on my cell phone but felt as though I had no choice unless I wanted to pay the tow guy. Anyhow Jeff said his gut feeling before ever looking at the car was that my car was now a "BOAT ANCHOR" and I may as well junk it and be happy to get $250. This car is a 2004 330xi bmw that has 140,000 miles on it. I played along and asked that he look at the car and call me with the good or bad news the next day. He called the next morning and said he had good news and that I just needed a expansion tank and this could possibly fix the damage from the overheat. This was a $300 fix and I approved it. The next morning I get a call saying he has bad news and that the car is officially a "BOAT ANCHOR". I asked him to give me a bid on what it would cost to replace the engine and other necessary parts. He seemed perturbed and literally said "Susan, that is not what you said yesterday as you indicated you would "junk" the car"...I replied that I just wanted to check out all my options and thought the car may be worth saving. He reluctantly sent me a bid that was close to $6,000....which is more then my car KBB value. I then called every mechanic I knew and got more information. He had mentioned that he was driving the car still and I asked him if it was driveable so I could drive it to a dealer for a trade-in...he again seemed perturbed as he replied "Did you tell your buyer the engine is blown".......A few things here that are so weird and extremely unprofessional..1) It's my car and I can do what I want with it...2) I don't have to take his bid as a final answer 3) If I found a buyer and whatever I worked out with my buyer is NONE OF HIS BUISNESS.... I had a BAD FEELING about Jeff and this shop. I called in to tell Jeff that I would be by to pick the car up and that I was going to drive it very close by and asked if he thought it would be ok?? He said I could drive it but he would charge me an additional $35 to put coolant and water in the car. I said to go ahead and put it in and then he called me back right away and said it would be ok for me to drive it "DRY" and I could save the $35. I then called a "trusted mechanic" and he advised I do not drive the car with no fluids. I paid Jeff the extra $35 for my own peace of mind. I now have the car at a local trusted mechanic and guess what??? The engine is NOT blown and the cost to repair it is less then 1/2 of the bid that Jeff quoted me. The car is definitely NOT a BOAT ANCHOR. This all being said, GET A SECOND OPINION when being told your car is a BOAT ANCHOR.....My advise is to BEWARE of this "Bavarian JOKE of a place".....I'm still shaking my head as had I of listened to Jeff, I would have a title to a "BOAT ANCHOR" which is worth nothing, and now I still have a car title that is definitely worth more then what the car costs to fix it....way more...I'm ahead by thousands.... read more

Jeff Neilson saved my life!! I was visiting a friend in Reno for the weekend and when I got ready to start my 9 hour drive back home, my car would not start, DEAD. I had just had a tune-up at home to avoid any problems on my trip. Anyway, there I was, dead car in a place I didn't know who to take my car to. All mobile mechanics did not answer their phones or even call back (ever). So, I used Yelp to find the nearest BMW specialists. The first one I called (closest) said he could look at it in TWO days. (I had business meetings the following day back at home). My second call was to Bavarian Auto Haus, Jeff answered the phone and was patient as I had my verbal panic attack then calmly told me he could have it looked at in a couple hours and just in case it was the starter, he'd rush order one to have on-hand when they got to my car. Auto Club towed my car in and Jeff called a couple hours later to tell me it was only the ignition switch and the car was running and ready to go!!! This was 7/26/2001 and before we had the ability to post on-line reviews. They may have shaped up their act since then, but we don't know because we haven't used them since. Nevertheless, it irks me enough to wait all this time to post my feelings about the episode. We dealt with Gary. I created a list of items that I wanted checked on the car. Gary called me and told me it sounded like an Inspection II that I needed. I said OK not knowing that for them to perform the inspection which basically covered what I wanted to have done, it was going to cost another $220. Gary called several times letting me know about things that needed fixing which I agreed to over the phone. With costs mounting, I asked if I could get an itemized bill, Gary went off on me saying he runs a small shop and he didn't have time to do those things. I'm thinking, what? Anyway by the time he was done and picked up the car, the bill was $1,400 and still no itemized bill. When my wife picked up the car, Gary was very condescending to my wife calling her "honey" because he was irritated at me for asking so many questions. The other surprise was the added inspection cost. Nice little zinger. Anyway, I'd never use them again and like I said, your mileage may very. read more

Quick/accurate diagnosis. Friendly/professional staff. Car delivered on time as promised. Going over a speed control bump we heard a bang. Car had a lot of road noise now although still drove. I brought it over and they put it on the rack and quickly saw that 4 aluminum bolts securing the engine to an arm had snapped and had to be replaced. Car runs like new again.
