I've just opened up a complaint with the BBB related to Bavarian Motors. Stay away from this place. In my 25yrs of driving this is why worst experience at a car repair shop, and that is saying a lot. I brought the car to Chris a few weeks ago for (a) rattling from the rear right of the car, (b) power windows intermittently not working. Next day I get a full assessment of the car - 1800 for repairs (leaks, etc) including that I need new shocks / struts (the cause of the noise). Pick up the car a couple of days later, and the rattling noise is still there. Obviously I wouldn't have spent 800+ on shocks if it wasn't causing the noise... the car is 18 years old. Chris and I go for a ride and he confirms he hears the noise. Clear to me he never to took the car out to first hear the noise / properly diagnose the problem... and certainly never took it out after he "fixed it"... since it wasn't fixed. They keep the car and then tell me it is a heat shield issue. Then it is a shock mount issue. Then it was back to the heat shield. Then it was "we are still chasing down the issue with the noise, 135 to continue diagnostics". SERIOUSLY?!?! Never been to a place so shady in my life. Picked up the car today and asked Chris if he was going to make it right. He reiterated that everything he fixed needed to be... I made it clear I wouldn't have spent 1800 if the noise wasn't going to be fixed. I told him either he could make this right, or this wouldn't be the end of it. He said "have a good day". I am very impressed by the Bavarian Motors group. All I needed was an oil change and a light change. Not tough stuff, I know. But you can get a good feeling about how they take care of you with the little jobs. I was in and out in minutes. Plus, Chris gave me a tutorial about how to check my service indicators. Do you have a German Car? Do you need repairs or a tune up with an honest assessment and a very fair price? Bring it to Chris. This isn't a big operation; two racks with two mechanics (one of them is Chris) and one trusty dog. I used to live in Denver, but this day I was relocating from San Francisco to D.C. driving my 2012 M/B. I should have changed the oil in SF, but I glad I waited to find Bavarian Motors through a little luck. Dealerships are expensive, and I don't trust oil change firms. Chris was able to fit me in the one full day I was in Denver despite his work load. He took the time to show me where I may need service in the future, and he charge a price far cheaper than I would have paid in SF. I definitely like this place. It's where I take my BMW behemoth when it acts up. I have had many repairs done here from fixing the moon roof to the oil filter gasket. The one that stood out to me was the repair of the moon roof. Chris said that to replace it, it would be about $3500. In the end, it was a simple fix to put the motor back on track, but it proves honesty, because dishonest folks capitalize on that type of thing to sell unneeded repairs. Chris' shop is busy and he doesn't have time for phony repairs. Also be it known that there's a light rail stop about 1/4 mile away, which is great for bringing you to work after dropping your car off. Definitely recommend. read more

He has done excellent work on my '70 2002, '85 325, '86 535, '97 540, and '98 528. Probably one of the best independent shops in the area for BMW and other German marques. Hi! I wanted to write a quick review of Bavarian Motors because I had an excellent experience with them and wanted to share it. I don't write many reviews, but hopefully you'll find mine helpful. I have used a few different auto mechanics over the years here in Colorado and I was recently in the market for a new one. I reached out to Chris at Bavarian Motors on a Wednesday looking for some work to be done on my car (front brakes) and they said they could do it, had a great quote, and had availability on Friday. I took my car to them on Friday and their location is literally just across the street from the County Line Light Rail station which made it very convenient for me to get to work. I dropped off my key and left a voicemail for them that I had left my key and to please call me to let me know that they received it once they were in. Alyssa gave me a call promptly about an hour later and let me know they had received my key and were working on my car. I received a call from them later in the day too when they needed to give me some news. Unfortunately, a bolt for my brake calipers was bent and they couldn't put it back together without a tool that wouldn't arrive until Monday. This was the first time that I had used them and wasn't too happy to be without a car over the weekend. However, they understood this inconvenience and they really came through for me. I spoke with Chris and he assured me that they would reserve a rental car for me. I was able to pick up the rental car right near my work, the tool came on Monday, and I was able to get my car back earlier today. I needed some help on the Friday before Labor Day, so I phoned a few German car places over here in the Ken Caryl and Highlands Ranch areas. They were nice, but unable to see me. I found Bavarian Motors here on Yelp, and called them. They were able to give me a consult on my 2005 BMW that afternoon and a quick diagnosis (the problem involved my key and the lock cylinder in the driver's door). They ordered the part and sent me on my way. Today I took my car in to have the part installed and it took them much less time than they'd anticipated and quoted me. My bill reflected the lower fee for shortened period of labor. Very friendly folks here. I talked with the owner Chris as well as his assistant, Alyssa. Everyone fun, welcoming, and friendly. I hesitate to provide a five-star review for fear they'll be swamped with new customers next time I need them, but one good turn deserves another. Chris is excellent to work with. Unlike other shops around town that want to charge you $100 just to drive in the door, his assistant will give you a rough estimate of a repair over the phone if he has seen your car once or twice before. I bring a 10+ year old car to Chris and I never leave with a laundry list of things that should "probably" or "very soon" be replaced. He lets me know that something will need to replaced down the line but that it is still fine for now and what to look for so I know to bring it in. Chris is trustworthy enough that I drive from the Northwest side of Denver down to him to get my car worked on, passing 10+ Audi mechanics on the way. Its hard to find a trustworthy mechanic in this day and age, especially when working on Euro cars. read more

I live in Arvada, and the distance it takes me to get to Bavarian Motors is well worth the trip. Around 26 miles one way. My vehicle had an issue recently that needed immediate attention and I called Chris up and he said to bring it on down. I left my vehicle there and in 2 days he had her up and running. I left a blank check for him to fill in the amount and the amount was far less then he initially quoted even though he did a few extra things to get my car back to running condition. I will go only to Bavarian Motors for all my vehicle repairs and maintenance. I reccomend him to my family and friends for everything from oil changes to major repairs. read more

If you are looking to get your Bimmer or Audi done right the first time and at a very reasonable price, Chris at Bavarian Motors has never let me down. Chris is one of the few people who will not charge for work you don't need. He is honest and goes the extra mile to do what is necessary to get it repaired right the first time. I got screwed by a neighborhood repair place which didn't understand BMWs and I almost got screwed by Schump Motors but fortunately I did some online research and discovered that they were going to charge me for a repair that wouldn't have fixed my issue. Chris is honest and knowledgeable. I have given him my car and he has returned it with no charge because I misunderstood the issue when there really wasn't something at fault. I brought my car to Chris because of a bad fuel pump, as diagnosed by the tow truck driver that brought my car home. Chris quickly confirmed the diagnosis, and informed me it would be 3 or 4 days to get it swapped out. I agreed, and left the car with him. He called me back the next afternoon and informed me he had finished the job! I went to retrieve the car, and he informed me of a couple other developing problems with the car. What he described sounded similar to odd behavior I had experienced in the car recently. I agreed, but told him those repairs would have to wait until I could afford them. He charged me a very reasonable fee for the fuel pump, I paid and left with a running car. I would absolutely recommend him to any friends or family that needed repair work done. read more

I am an experienced mechanic but now permanently disabled. I observed Bavarian Motors skillfully trying to charge me for multiple non-required repairs. The original and only problem that brought me to Bavarian Motors was overheating at idle on my BMW 550i. I had personally replaced the coolant expansion tank a few days earlier and I told Bavarian Motors that air bubbles in the cooling system just needed to be bled out to fix the overheating issue. I just didn't have the time or energy to bleed the cooling system myself. They said they would diagnosis it and let me know. Tuesday 8/1/17: They charged me $67.50 which was a fair amount to diagnose the problem and said it had a failed water pump & failed thermostat. (They also said I needed an oil change & a new brake vacuum pump gasket ... even though my brakes worked perfectly) I am very sick and fighting a severe type of Multiple Sclerosis so it was just easier to let them replace these parts. The cost was $1,404.00 and I picked up my car the next day Wednesday 8/2/17. After driving about 20mi my BMW overheated and went into "limp mode" stranding me on the highway during heavy Friday 8/5/17 rush hour traffic. I had to get a $400 tow back to Bavarian Motors. Sadly the overheating problem was clearly not fixed at all. Monday 8/8/17: Bavarian Motors then said that the problem was definitely a fried fan relay. I let them replace it but for some unknown reason it took them 2-3 days to complete the work. Again this repair did not fix the overheating problem. Tuesday 8/9/17: Bavarian Motors then said the problem was a significantly leaky upper radiator hose (I started getting suspicious because they never mentioned any leaky hoses upon their initial diagnosis 5 days earlier) The owner then tried to sell me on replacing the electric fan for an additional $1,200. He insisted the fan was fried. What he didn't know is that I already tested the electric fan last week and it functioned flawlessly. This was the tipping point where I realized I was either being misled or they were incompetent. When I pointed out their fraudulent recommendations they seemed shocked that I actually knew what I was talking about. They eventually refunded $638.62 for the water pump/thermostat labor. In total, I still spent $1,165.38. ($765.38 to Bavarian +$400 tow). After a week in their shop my BMW was no different than the day I drove it in there.....still overheating. I also really question whether the oil change & brake vacuum pump gasket (that I didn't request but they up-sold me on) were even needed. I even asked for the old parts to be returned but they could not produce them. My BMW is now fixed. The electric fan was not the problem. The cooling system just needed to have air bubbles bled out as I originally told them. Once this was completed the overheating problem was gone. There is a specific coolant bleeding process for BMW's that Bavarian Motors was unaware of.......because they are not factory trained mechanics as they advertise. Yes, their mechanics are NOT factory trained as they advertise. I know this because I spoke with their young female Asian mechanic who was hired there less than two years ago and she told me she had no formal automotive training at all. When she was hired, the owner, Chris Bruun, told her if she knows "lefty loosey righty tighty" then she qualifies to be a mechanic there. Her only prior auto repair experience was working on her brothers car. Every auto repair experience is different and they do have some good reviews out there but I truly wonder how many of those customers actually ever knew they were probably overcharged for extra unneeded repairs. Buyer beware, ask questions and go inspect recommended repairs with your own eyes before approving or paying for repairs. Make sure to collect the old parts. I should give them 5 Stars on this review for their ability to mislead and up-sell their customers. read more

I was driving to Denver from Colorado Springs and my car started to have major problems. I crippled it off the highway and into a mechanics shop down the road. We were told they couldn't help us but referred us to Bavarian Motors. WE ARE SO LUCKY THEY DID! Chris took a look at our car and was able to diagnose the problem right away. We were in a bind in a bad way. By this point the car was undrivable and we lived in another city. In-spite of the fact that this was not the type of car that Bavarian Motors usually works on and that Chris's schedule was packed, he fit us in and repaired our car at a reasonable price.
