How could you go wrong with $6.99 Kothu Roti? Honestly you can't! We got the mutton kothu roti, chicken biryani and all of the rolls they had that day - all for $25!!! Kothu Roti ($6.99) - Very flavourful and the meat-to-roti ratio is very generous. There was a piece of mutton with every bite. The only thing we didn't really like about the roti was that the pieces of roti were too chunky. But not a huge deal considering there was so much mutton. Chicken Biryani ($6.99) - This was super delicious! The chicken is nice and tender but still juicy and flavourful - just the way it should be. This was definitely my favourite part of our order and I would get it again! Mutton Roll ($2) - This roll was a pan fried roll instead of a deep fried one. At $2, it's a great deal considering how stuffed it was. There was soooo much stuffing in it and they did not skimp out with fillers. Super worth your $2 for a snack! Vegetarian Roll ($1.50) - Great flavour in the roll. It's stuffed with potatoes and onions. I didn't really like it, it was too much carbs for me but my boyfriend really liked it! This and Martin bakery are maybe my two favourite tamil joints. They cook their biriyani on the grill. Great flavour and never dry. Kothu roti also amazing. Any mutton enthusiasts have to try their mutton roti. Place is also very clean and priced way too low. The owners should price things higher but I'll take advantage while I can. read more

Bless my poor little Chinese soul. Raised with soy sauce as my main condiment, I have close to zero spice tolerance and yet my adventurous palate often pursuades me to wander into South Asian cuisine. The first thing I asked the employee when I got here was, "can you make it not spicy?" to which he replied "yes, I can make no spicy". Delighted, my boyfriend and I ordered 2 biryanis ($7 each), one chicken and one mutton, as well as 5 mutton pattys ($2). As there wasn't much space to dine-in (only one table with 2 chairs) and the Bollywood music was playing fairly loudly, we took it home to eat. I took my first bite and I thought it was delicious. The portion size was MASSIVE and the biryani came with a large chunk of chicken (drumstick or breast) and a hard boiled egg. I took a second bite and then it began... I. WAS. SWEATING. THROUGH. EVERY. SINGLE. PORE. IN. MY. BODY. Including ones I never knew existed. Dear lord, bless my soul. I think I had a total of 5 spoonfuls before I called it quits. Granted the portion sizes were so so worth the price and the flavours were actually enjoyable before it made me profusely sweat, I would highly recommend this place to people who can handle their spice. Loaded saucy Biryani with a kick. Super tasty with loads of flavour. Wow... I will be bold and say this place is a real gem and for me is the best Biryani I've tasted. I had a real craving for Biryani and searched for something authentic than restaurants catered to standard palette. This place puts some sauce/gravy during a quick fry of the Biryani and boy is it good and wholesome tastiness! The Biryani is loaded with chicken pieces, a nice moist piece of tandoori chicken, a boiled egg and a sweet onion side (raita?). I can eat spicy and the fresh chilis gives this Biryani a serious kick. All for 7 bucks tax included. Why would you even try to cook Biryani at home if you live in the area? I also order a vegetarian dish shown in the picture. It's not on the menu and I did not understand the chef when inquired, but ordered it anyways since it was so different. The flavours and spices lead me to think it's more of a Sri Lankan dish, like the fried roti. This place will be our regular Biryani fix! read more

We tried the Mutton Kothu Roti after searching Yelp for Kothu Roti recommendations and came across Bavu Villas. In the past we've had bad experiences with buying Kothu Roti outside but we decided to try it here after reading a review where it was recommended to try it spicy We had called them and order one Mutton Kothu Roti for take out and the guy on the phone told us that it will take 10 mins so once we got there our food was ready. Once we opened the aroma of the mutton was so inviting. We couldn't wait to devour it. With every mouthful there was a piece of a mutton which is very rare with store bought mutton roti. For $7 this Mutton Kothu Roti hands down was the best one we've had. Definitely will be going back. read more

This place is amazing, $7 will feed you for the entire day. Kothu Roti - I usually get mutton. It's super flavourful and very spicy, but oh. so. good. I usually ask for a bit of spice, because you just don't get the full experience if it's not spicy. They make it on the griddle right after you order and it comes out piping hot. Biriyani here is amazing too, it is also made to order on the griddle and it comes in one of those really big take out boxes with a hard boiled egg and a chicken leg. Of course, super flavourful, huge portions. It comes with a small dipping sauce sized container of raw onions in yogurt for a fresh kick when you need a change of pace--- wash it all down with a cold Necto or Mango juice and you've got yourself a happy belly. Food: I had an order of the mutton kothu. This dish is basically diced up roti, mutton, egg, onion, peppers, and curry. The mutton kothu here is by far one of the best I've had in Scarborough. Though it is very spicy, you can ask for it mild or not spicy. The blend and texture of each ingredient is perfect and compliments each other perfectly. NO DINE IN, TAKE OUT AND CATERING ONLY. This place is great. One small table, take out recommended. Recently renovated. 3 giant flat screens show the food prices but never actually show the items you want to order. So I ordered the a Mutton Kothu Roti and one of their Mutton rolls and prayed that the total wouldn't be $20 for fried roti and bread roll. Total was much less (phew) and the food was flavourful, dense and delicious. Very carby. Very satisfied. To complete the meal I'd probably have a salad or maybe a head of lettuce. read more

Came here on a referral and was not disappointed. They are truly good at what they do. I ordered the Lamb and Chilli Chicken Kothu Roti and they were both good. Portions are huge and they are not stingey... but remember you are eating majority carbs! i do find myself being all bloated and guilty after. But that is at no fault of the restaurant. i could not even finish half the portion they gave... which ensured that i had lunch the next day. Keep in mind it is very spicy. It is definitely not an everyday thing, but once in a while its good to change it up. I think i will probably return one of these days. read more

My go to place for kothu roti. I have been here many times and each time they do not fail to amaze me. The flavors are always spot on. If you like spicy food as much as i do, this is a must try. I usually get the beef or lamb kothu roti be ause a feel the chicken is a bit dry but still good. Employees are friendly. This location mostly for take out but there is one table and 2 chairs in there. I would also recommend trying the mutton roll. They have thin skin and a good amount of mutton inside. read more

Delicious take out. Their mutton biryani really taste good with a lot piece of mutton meat and chicken inside the rice. Food was tasty, spicy but definitely enjoyable. Ordered the noodles, biryani, and a curry with roti. Next time I'll try the kothuroti. The portions were sizable, had enough for 4 people for dinner and then lunch again the next day. Spoke with the owner, Babu, quite friendly to all his customers, takes the time to chat with each one. Very delicious 'Sri Lanken and South Asian' food.. my bf says it is 'Tamil' food but I'm not sure of proper semantics. Anyway, we ordered beef kouthu, mutton biryani and tandoori chicken leg and it came up to only $15.50!! Wicked deal, everything cooked fresh. Flavours are nice and robust. Option of non spicy or spicy. I asked for non spicy but with all the flavourings I would say non spicy is actually mild lol.
