    I was in town to celebrate my mother's 96 birthday and was out with my son and daughter in law. They highly recommended this unique restaurant and we were not disappointed. The small cozy atmosphere was a delight to enjoy a wonderful meal and conversation. The drinks were exceptionally great and since I'm coming from California, very affordable. The food was delicious, especially the braised beef croquets, chicken friend mushrooms, whipped ricotta, and sourdough. The pork collar and the tare squash were beautifully presented and tasted wonderful. I requested the sommelier to recommend a wine that would compliment our order and the Domaine de Ferrand Chateauneuf - du- Pape a fine French wine from the Rhone Valley was our selection. This was a beautiful bottle and fine selection. John, our server was the perfect gentlemen and server with great personality and full of customer service.

    Enjoyed a Saturday date night at Gene's. The place is small and was completely packed, but we were glad we had reservations: however, when we were shown to our seats, they were barstools at the crowded bar. We were a little taken aback, and the host explained that the reservation system does note that some seats are bar seats and some are tables, but that the confusion does happen a lot. (If that's the case, something about the reservation system should probably be fixed for clarity.) Despite that disappointment, we settled in at the bar and chose some dishes to share. The food was inventive and artistic: for instance, we were served a "split pea" and lobster salad that was like a deconstructed split pea soup. Each plate looked like a piece of art, with colorful, rich sauces (like the horseradish creme beneath the striploin and pave entree). Our bartender was attentive and extremely knowledgeable about dishes, recommendations, etc. The meal was elevated and delicious, and I would return -- I'd just double check what kind of table I was reserving.

    The service and atmosphere makes Genes a 5 star spot. The food is incredible everytime. The striploin is perfectly cooked with an incredible potato underneath. Appetizer wise, We enjoyed the beef tatki more than the lobster salad but both were light and fresh. The pork collar was prominent in pork flavor but overall a unique dish. Desserts are very unique and was more savory than expected. The way the servers are able to describe the menu is an art.

    We had high hopes for Gene's and decided to give it a try for a birthday dinner with friends on a Tuesday night. The restaurant itself was very cozy--cute, fun atmosphere, and it was full when we arrived. We made a mistake with the reservation and ended up with bar seats, but the host was very kind and accommodated our request to switch to a table due to a no-show. The service was fine. It was attentive, but with the pricing, we expected slightly warmer interactions. Our server asked about our occasion but didn't offer or acknowledge anything after learning it was for a birthday--not even a candle on the dessert we ordered, which was a little disappointing. Lastly, the food. Again, we came in with high hopes since Gene's was mentioned by several local blogs as a fun new spot. We got the raw fish and croquetta appetizers--they were good, but for the price, you'd get much more at a Japanese restaurant. For entrées, we ordered the pork chop, steak, mushroom, and black cod. Everyone agreed the dishes were a bit underwhelming and needed more flavor. You get much more for your money if you drive another 15-20 minutes downtown to Basi, Veritas, Speck, Lindey's, etc. Our bill ended up around $400, but nothing was particularly memorable. Overall, it's a little sad to see that Gene's isn't much different from most restaurants in the Dublin area. I guess we'll stick with Kitchen Social at Bridge Park and the Pearl.

    Gene's is a very cute restaurant that's opened up on high street. The service is wonderful. The only hitch was that when we arrived at our reservation time it took them 20 mins to seat us, but they were very polite about it, so all good. The menu is ordered in terms of small, medium, and large plates and served family style. We shared their ricotta with toast (which I guess was like a small plate, but quite filling). The ricotta was good but the toast was too salty, which was unfortunate. We shared their pork chop for dinner, which was fabulous. Cooked perfectly and on a bed of salad with the most delicious dressing. Oh, and my wife really liked her cocktail as well. We are looking forward to returning!

    Absolutely amazing!! Every dish we got was well thought out, balanced in flavor and unique. Kudos to Gene's for knowing how to do a restaurant the right way! Ambiance, service, and food were all a 10/10!

    Great vibes with clean lines and decor. The host is friendly and polite. This place is a hidden gem that invites you to get lost in good conversations and well curated cocktails. Each meal is prepared with technical precision and presentation. You can tell with each bite that the chef has prepared the meal with intention and love. None of it was too overbearing with flavor, just natural clean sparks of joy. I had the Pork Tenderloin and it was cooked to perfection. Not dry, not over sauced, just a hint of something more with each bite you take. My new favorite place in Dublin.

I've taken classes in competing kitchens and the experience here is far superior. Chef Mike has a great model. Diners prep ingredients and then come together to put dishes together while learning tips and techniques. The sheer number of dishes prepared each time is stunning-- between 4 and 6 different recipes each time. I always come away with at least one thing I want to try making at home. And there are plenty of dishes that have made it into our regular repertoire. Some favorites: German pork tenderloin and spaetzel, Cajun blackened fish, Irish bangers and mash, Jamaican jerk chicken and coconut beans and rice to name a few. And some classes are more aspirational. I'll leave it to the experts to make ravioli and ramen, two dishes I have more respect for. I'm better with a knife, I know the basics of building different soups and sauces, I've upped my game on holiday cooking. And mostly, I just enjoy cooking so much more and have developed confidence. Not a cook? No problem. This is a very relaxed setting. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can sip wine and stir a pot of sauce or you can get your hands dirty and knead dough or shell shrimp. Tonight we made bibimbap and banchon. It was delicious. And easy. It will be finding it's way into our Rotation. Thanks Mike for making cooking fun and accessible for all.

About that, the waiter was friendly enough, just not that bright or attentive. I had asked for crushed red pepper when I ordered the chicken parm, which he never brought. It seemed that we waited forever for the check, then after paying, I realized I never got my credit card back. Waited for the kid to come back around, but he must have gone to the can to burn a mule, as he was no where to be found. I walked over to the server area and saw my card lying on top of the card reader, which I retrieved on my own.     My family and I dined at The Pearl Dublin on December 23rd to celebrate my cousin's birthday while…read moreshe was visiting from Montreal. While there were a few minor service issues, our server was kind and attentive and acknowledged the celebration with complimentary desserts, which we truly appreciated. After dinner, my cousin and I went to wash our hands and use the restroom. At the time, all stalls were occupied and one was out of service, so we waited. When a stall opened, my cousin kindly let me go first. I finished and stood outside the stalls waiting for her for about three minutes. During that time, I noticed several people going in and out of the restroom area. I also saw a man sitting in a chair along the hallway wall near the stalls, hunched over. Shortly after, a woman exited the restroom and grabbed him to leave. I thought nothing of it and minded my own business. I also observed the executive chef enter one of the restroom stalls. When my cousin exited, she mentioned that the stall smelled strongly of smoke and that three girls had exited the stall before she entered. She said the stall smelled like marijuana but used it only because it was the only option available. She also pointed out that the man sitting outside appeared to be associated with the group who had been in the stall. We then returned to our patio table where our family was seated. Our server brought out her birthday pie along with another complimentary dessert. She blew out the candle, we shared dessert, and we began preparing to leave. A few minutes later, while we were still seated on the patio, the general manager, Nick Krafft, approached our table accompanied by Executive Chef Michael Wagner. We initially assumed he was checking in on our experience. Instead, he immediately stated, "I'm going to have to ask you not to smoke in our restaurant and bathroom," directing the accusation at my cousin and me. We were completely taken aback by both the accusation and the manner in which it was delivered. We calmly explained that it was not us and described exactly what we had observed in the restroom. We stated that neither of us smoke and never have. We even offered to have our belongings checked and explained that we had not taken any jackets or purses with us to the restroom, as our family remained at the table. Despite this, the general manager refused to listen or consider our explanation and continued to place blame on us. He did not speak to our server, who had interacted with us just moments earlier while bringing out the birthday dessert, nor did he attempt to investigate further or de-escalate the situation. As we were leaving, my fiancé asked the general manager if he actually smelled smoke on either of us. He responded "yes," which was not true, and continued to push a conclusion he had already formed. No apology was offered. We spent over $1,000 celebrating a family birthday at a restaurant we had trusted and enjoyed in the past. Instead, the evening ended with my cousin's birthday being overshadowed by an unfounded accusation. There were many guests dining that evening, yet blame was placed solely on two women who had simply used the restroom. I am a Nurse Practitioner, and my cousin is a special education teacher for autistic children. Neither of us have ever smoked. Being accused in this manner was humiliating, hurtful, and completely unnecessary. I was later contacted by the regional manager, who was understanding. However, I believe this situation highlights the need for better investigation, accountability, and staff training to prevent similar experiences in the future. A personal apology from Nick, acknowledging his actions and taking accountability, would be an appropriate step forward after innocent guests were wrongly blamed and a birthday celebration was ruined.
