5 star experience. I was looking for a jeweler for my fiancee. I looked online for rings; no luck. I looked at mall jewelers; no thank you. I had a friend of mine tell me that her fiancee got her ring at Baxter's, so i put that feather in my hat. I "snuck out" and went to Baxter's thinking I was just going to inquire about a ring but I ended up walking out with a slip and a down payment on a ring! The staff at Baxter's couldn't of been any better to me. They had beverages, a cozy couch to sit on, and most importantly WORKED WITHIN MY BUDGET. I was looking at a princess cut ring, but it was WAYYY out of my budget. Fortunately, the awesome people at Baxter's got a smaller diamond from the back and even let me use the glasses to inspect the diamond as they explained it to me. There was no "shadiness" with them. They really put me first. After I proposed to her, we went in and got her ring sized to fit. They're customer service was just like when I went in and they adjusted her ring for free. The only reason why I'm giving it two stars is because the girl I spoke with, was very sweet. With that being said, I'm very disappointed. They came highly recommended, and I walked out Without something so simple as enlarging my ring half a size. They said they couldn't, but I went elsewhere within 15 minutes and they got the job done, and beautifully I might add!! I feel the only reason why they didn't want to size my ring was because it wasn't gonna be profitable for them.. Will never go back to that store again, and I will not recommend it to anybody. This place truly has amazing customer service! I don't even live near this jeweler but they came up online in my search for a specific Tacori pendant. Unfortunately, the brand no longer makes these and Baxter's was unable to order one for me. The other jewelers I had reached out to simply never responded or they did and said it was discontinued, with no other solutions or to try and source something else for me. Baxter's took the time to find other options, sent me pictures and gave me advice on which they thought was the best. So patient and responsive, even though this was not going to be a big money sale for them. Not even sure where to begin with this review. I wish I could leave 10 stars. When my grandma passed away my mom and aunt gave me her rings. They were broken but beautiful and had so much meaning to the three of us. I went here without a clue of what I wanted in a custom ring besides I wanted to somehow incorporate blue topaz the December birth stone as my grandma, grandpa and I are all December birthdays. They walked me through every possibility and took genuine interest in me as their customer. They even came up with an idea to make pendants out of the bands to give to my mom and aunt. I truly wish I was THAT person that was a jewelry fanatic because this would be my place. My Mother's Day ring gem fell out of its' setting, after almost 28 years. Everyone was so kind and understanding in this establishment. I was offered cappuccino and a biscotti, while I waited. Now I must say, I was shocked at the price of the repair but I had no point of comparison. When I went to pick up my ring( and it was ready at the time I was quoted the month before), once again , everyone exemplified excellent customer service. And with my impeccable timing, food and wine were on the menu again, as there was a bridal showcase scheduled. What makes this place special is, their people skills are so on point, it's effortless. I am very thorough and meticulous when it comes to these types of decisions. I went to countless stores all around new England and even had some calls with people across the US. They not only helped me make the right decision, but they educated me on what the right thing was to do even if it wasn't as advantageous to their business. My only regret about my experience with Baxters was not trusting them sooner. Super experience here. Dearest brought me here to select a pendant for my birthday. Sales person spent close to an hour with me picking out just the right one. While here he offered to check out my engagement ring which ended up being in very poor repair...missing a couple prong heads. Had they not offered to have a peek I never would have been known and could have been down a couple rocks off my ring. Phew. Now, I know the deal. A jeweler can find just about any reason to do a repair or cleaning, but I really did appreciate having them take a look. He took the time to show me the legit areas needing attention. Very good service. The repairs were done, along with a rhodium finish, in less than a week. The result was a ring more beautiful than I remember it being the day Dearest placed it on my finger. I have a modest ring but it was bling and *BLING* after its visit with Baxter's. Nice job, folks. They carry Alex and Ani - they even have a bangle customized with their logo. So disappointed! I emailed baxter's to see if they could laser weld or solder the back of an urn necklace. Baxter's responded saying they had done many of these and could absolutely do this. I was so happy. I took it in and told the sales lady that I absolutely had to have the necklace completed by Thursday so o could pick it up Thursday or Friday before leaving Rhode Island to go to Virginia. I also expressed concern of a sharp edge and was assured by the sales lady that it wouldn't be sharp afterwards. She warn it would be 'bumpy but not sharp". I showed up Friday to pick up my necklace only to find out it wasn't ready. An abrupt sales woman told me to have a cup of coffee and wait. When I asked why there was a delay, since I was supposed to be able to pick up the item on Thursday, the woman told me "complications" and walked away. When the necklace finally came out to me, it barely looks like they had done anything and the sharp edge it was still! It is just as sharp as ever. What a waste of 65 dollars and my necklace still isn't fixed. Would not recommend if you want your jewelry repairs correctly or on time. read more

We went through Baxters for my engagement ring, wedding band and some other custom pieces. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. They take care to understand what you want and help you create it. My mother and I brought in several family pieces that we had sitting in drawers and the jewelers and staff worked with us to recycle the stones into new pieces. They made sure we were happy at every step showing us images, a wax rendering, etc. They also have wonderful events in the Spring for all of the weddings which can be fun. I had ordered a new setting for my engagement ring believing it was a certain shaped diamond in the channel. I had a custom setting for my wifes engagement ring designed and made here. Their service is PERFECT and their prices are good. I was VERY surprised to find such a store on Jefferson Blvd. My wife bought my wedding band there too. I thought I was a size 9. Since I never wear rings, I thought that I was fit well. After wearing it for 2 weeks, I got used to wearing a ring and found it WAY too big. After failing to find that special engagement ring, I finally ended up at Baxters. It was a great experience, I got exactly what I was looking for, and learned that I could get a custom ring for about the same price as the "off the rack" rings at the other stores. They sent me a computer mockup and had me inspect the final wax mold before casting, just to make sure that it was exactly what I wanted. I recently went through the experience of losing my diamond from my wedding set, due to my procrastination of finding a jeweler to routinely check my setting, after my jeweler retired. Sarkis and Paul and the rest of the staff patiently walked me through the whole process. Fortunately for me, I found my diamond two weeks into the process, and they were able to quickly shift gears to do a complete rebuild, from Autocad design to the finished product. My beautiful husband bought me a bracelet recently. When he brought it home it was shorter than specified, by quite a bit. He called them and they told us they would order another. About a month later, my husband called them back, as we had heard nothing. The woman said another bracelet was in stock and to come in. I went in. When I entered the front door, several clerks were talking behind a showcase. They stopped and looked at me for several seconds, then turned their backs on me. Hmmm... I walked over to the counter and waited patiently for several minutes until one woman pulled herself away from the group and asked me what I needed. I told her the situation, showed her the bracelet and told her I was told to come in for the exchange. She went back and looked in a drawer and said no, there were no others to exchange with. Hmmm...She then told me that 7 inches was a large wrist anyway, that as we get older we get fatter...Hmmm... All the while, I wondered what I'd done to be treated this way. My husband bought me several pieces from there, but my bracelet has never been remedied. The bracelet just fits at 6.5 inches, but it would be nice if it was 7 inches as described and sold to me. The engraver (forger her name, sorry!) was expert and attentive and the entire staff so friendly and professional. I would give them 0 stars if that was an option. They seem to only want your business if it is on their terms and convenient for them. I went there looking for help tracking down my perfect diamond and designing a custom ring for my now fiance. I was initially very impressed with the place and how much time Kevin (one of the sales associates) spent with my mother and I getting an idea of exactly what I was looking for. I was looking for an oval fancy yellow diamond and wanted it to be within a certain range of clarity grades. I understood that I had very particular specifications for the diamond but had done extensive research and had found numerous diamonds meeting these specifications that were within my price range. He seemed to really get it. We were there on a Monday and he said that they would have at least a few diamonds for me to look at that Saturday and he seemed very confident that they would have the one i was looking for. He called me that Thursday to tell me that he "had a few diamonds coming in for me to look at and they would be there by Saturday". When I arrived at the store on Saturday I was very anxious to see the diamonds as I was still under the impression they would come through for me. Boy was I wrong. They only had 2 diamonds to show me. Last time checked, a few was more than 2 but that wouldn't have been a big deal if they were anything close to what I was looking for. Only one of them was the color grade I was looking for, both were below the lowest clarity grade I I had clearly stated I was willing to go, and both were out of my price range (one of them was $3,500 more than I had told him I could spend on the diamond! and $2,000 more than I told him I could spend on the entire ring). The owner (Paul) had come over to show me he diamonds in person and talk a little more about the type of ring I wanted built around the center stone. When I told them neither of them were what I was looking for they seemed annoyed and after a little back and forth reluctantly agreed to get another batch of diamonds in for me to look at that actually met my criteria. Paul seemed annoyed and inconvenienced the entire time and was rather abrasive. When discussing the type of custom ring I wanted. Paul literally argued with me about what I wanted and told me there were certain things I "needed to do" for the ring to look it's best. Well the jeweler I ultimately went with disagreed with him and agreed with him and the ring could not be any more beautiful. They make a good impression to get you in the door, they have a beautiful showroom and beautiful custom jewelry, but they don't want your business if it requires more than the minimum effort on their part or if it is a truly unique piece of jewelry that requires a little searching on their part. PS. It has been well over 2 months since I was in the store and I am still waiting for the call I was told i would receive "within 1-2 weeks" to let me know they had received a new batch of diamonds for me to look at. read more
