Had a western yellowjacket colony in the cornice void at my roofline -- about 20 feet up, connected to an interior room. Two companies treated it and failed. It's important to me that we don't spray toxic chemicals in the ground to get rid of yellow jackets. Lots of creatures like raccoons or skunks will try to eat the leftovers so you don't want someone to pump a can of wasp spray down a hole and call it a day. In fact, I even saw a skunk on the other side of my fence that night, so he knew something was up. The Beebusters came out promptly and dug up my nest at the base of a redwood tree and took it all away and used peppermint spray to shut down the attack and kill off any foragers that were returning to the nest. They didn't need to wear a bee suit, so he's done this a lot before. My Bee Story: I noticed about 30-50 bees each morning outside my office window around a light. They didn't seem to bother anyone and left when the sun came out each morning... so I let them BEE. After a week of this a co-worker found the hive - up in the overhang to the right of our Front Lobby. I can't thank these guys enough! Bear with this long read you will be glad you did! Two summers ago I had a colony of honeybees make a home inside of my bedroom wall. Being nieve, I went with one of the first companies I googled, Keystone Pest Control as they had been deemed inexpensive and quick to get the job done. They came and dumped some powder in the hole that was in the wall where they were coming in and out of, charged me $125 and went on their way. The bees went away and that was that, easy right? Wrong! I have learned after much of my own research as well as being told by George who knows more about bees that I thought possible, that was a "bandaid" fix that caused more problems for me in the longrun. See, when you kill bees, thats all that happens, they die. Without their buzzing wings to help cool/fan their hive and keep it standing, the hive/honeycomb pretty much melted inside of my wall, into the drywall ect. And if that isnt bad enough I would describe this as a dog "marking its territory" as dead bees and the smell of an old hive are an open invitation for a new colony to return to the same place. This is exactly what happened. Two weeks ago a new colony invaded my bedroom wall again. The thing I love most about this company is that they are not bee "exterminators" they are bee relocators. Bees are under seige and are in danger. These guys safely remove the bees and relocate them to a farm where they can buzz around and work happily the rest of their days. I feel awful for going through Keystone the first time. Some people might say well its "just bees" but you know what? Those bees didn't do anything wrong to deserve that, they just wanted to find a home where they could work hard and be happy but I killed them. Saving this colony makes me feel a little better but I SHOULD HAVE DONE IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME AND CALLED BEE BUSTERS FIRST! Dan came out on the first day to remove/relocate the colony. He was hard working, very informative and educated. He came out on day two with some help to remove all of the new honeycomb, old honeycomb and clean up as to remove any traces or scents that might attract new bees. Then they patched everything up very well after having to open up the wall in the back of my house to access everything. Are they a bit more expensive than Keystone or a similar company? Yes. Is it worth it? YES!!! If you pay Keystone or any other company that does things the same way for their quick and ineffective fix, be prepared to have loads of problems later on and spend much more than you ever would by hiring Bee Busters. The way to do it and do it right is the way these guys do! I actually read about walls and roofs in homes collapsing from the weight of all the honeycomb left behind after the bees are dead since it is heavy and rots through everything if left for too long. Not to mention the smell of rotting honey in your home which I can speak from experience to say, it is not pleasant. Take it from me, these guys saved me, and the bees! :-) Professional, informative, courteous and hard working, Bee Busters gets two thumbs up and five stars! I wish I had gone with them the first time but if I can save one person from making the same mistake I made it will be all worth it. I began this review when I thought this guy was going to blow me off again. So, my anger shows. Wow, first time following the reviews on Yelp has let me down. I called this guy on the basis of the previous reviews and on one for another company that was negative. All I can say is, " who did you talk to?" I called this guy and he got right back to me and told me he'd be over that day. I waited to eight o'clock before calling him to see if something had happened. He told me he had forgotten all about me, but would come the next day for certain. What can I say here, waited another whole day and then called at about three o'clock. He told me I was top of his list and would definitely be here by seven. I called at 7:45 had he told me he was on the way and would be here by eight. Okay, he did arrive by eight and did do a great job and was all the previous reviewers said, but, if you call him, be aware he may not be as reliable as you want. read more

We called Bay Area Beebusters to come and get rid of the bees from our rental property on Monday 9/27. George said he charged $150 an hour for the service and we will need to pay more if needed. He came and looked at them and declared that they are European Paper Wasps and advised about their beneficial. He left after talking for 10 minutes and didn't remove any bees but still wanted us to pay him $150 for the visit. We had to call Orkin to come out today and they found Yellow Jacket and Wasps which they treated both for us. Orkin charge $250 for the service with 30 days warranty but they did what we requested. It's wrong for Bay Area Beebusters to charge us for an incomplete diagnosis and not performing any work so we have filed a complaint with the BBB. read more

We came home to a large swarm of honey bees in our front tree. Really' thousands (40-60 thousand) of honey bees. Bee Busters arrived @ are home within the hour. By the end of 2nd hour 99% of the bees were in a box ready to travel to their new home. I was told by many companies to leave the alone and they we'll find another home in a couple of day(s). I worked with George on the phone - you are going to learn about this process (even if you don't want to) - but it is really a great service. Bee Busters comes out and will relocate your hive to a new home, saving your queen and her followers. Dan was our technician and he was completely professional and good to chat with. I was most interested in saving our bees, as opposed to many other methods which aren't effective or just plain deadly for these precious creatures = Bee Busters method does just that. The procedure took a little less than 3 hours and because our ranch is rather remote we had to pay for travel time. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. This was an amazing experience. I love bees, ants and spiders. I don't love killing bees, ant or spiders. So what do you do when you have a big hive on your second-floor rafter that is literally 8 feet away from your neighbor's patio, on which he enjoys a good BBQ and his GF likes to sit in a bee-free environment? Call George at Bee Busters. George knows his bees. Or, in this case, he knows his Arial yellow jackets, which is what I have. He explained that these poor, misunderstood critters are really quite spectacular because they eat mosquitos. I don't love mosquitos. George said removal would cost about $150.00, but he urged me to let them bee) because their lifespan is short and because they are harmless unless stepped on. The other company I called told me I had honeybees and that removing them would cost $450.00!!! What a difference a call makes. Unfortunately, as hard as I tried to convince my neighbor that the yellow jackets came in peace, he did not want to have to live with them for another 30-60 days. Sigh. I totally see his point because they do look kind of scary, especially from his vantage point. But the hive is a work of art and you can tell they spent a lot of time making it a home. Sigh. On the bright side, George is a bone-fide beekeeper who does not kill bees. He collects them and keeps them. So this hive will go to his property, where the yellow jackets who are not left behind will live out the rest of their days eating mosquitos. The other company also told me they keep the hives, but I kind of got the funny feeling that their bee "farm" is the same one my parents sent the dog and cat to years ago. Maybe not, but I am not taking any chances. Plus they wanted $450.00 to do the job. Today, George sent Dan to my house to collect the YJs. Dan is as nice as George. After suiting up, he climbed a ridiculously tall ladder and, in a matter of minutes, had the hive and most of the YJs in a bag. Amazing, but not yet complete. The YJs who had escaped looked like they were trying to rebuild already. That was when Dan busted out his modified shopvac (padded on the inside and filter free), which he used to live vac the remaining YJs, so they could be reunited with their queen and brethren on George's farm. Then he wiped away the hive remnants so that the YJs won't rebuild this year. At one point, my neighbors dog wandered by, so Dan stopped what he was doing and stayed perfectly still so as not to agitate the YJs until the dog was safely put inside. How sweet! I got to see the YJs in the live vac. They were agitated but very much alive. A few ended up being left behind, but there is only so far one can go. I hope the YJs don't come back next year, but if they do, better bee-lieve I will call George and Dan. read more

I called because we are getting tons of honeybees drinking water from our swimming pool. He was so helpful - he said to sit in the shade wearing a baseball hat, put a 4 ft square patch of water on the deck by the pool, and watch to see where the bees go to after they drink. They'll fly straight up, then 'beeline' directly to the hive. After I find the hive, I should put a birdbath near it and keep it filled (dump once a week to avoid mosquito breeding). If I put in a drop of chlorine the bees will notice it immediately and go there instead of the pool. He even suggested a small mesh "beach" dipping into the edge of the birdbath so the bees can land there without drowning and get water. Net-net: an honest and extremely helpful phone call. If I still have trouble with the bees, he will come out to see what needs to be done. Follow-up 6/2011: Turns out the beehive was in my neighbor's house which is being built. They had built a 6 foot long hive there...wow. They got it removed so finally my bee problems are over. read more

They were able to come out with relatively short notice, took one look at the problem, adapted to the situation as it unfolded, did a full sterilization of area so it wouldn't happen again, and fixed the area they had to remove, all while working late into the evening (8:30pm) to get it done so I could have a contractor start work the next day. Bee Busters saved me $150. I had called another bee removal company before I talked to Bee Busters. I was told that it would be $150 to remove my paper wasps and that he'd meet or beat any quote from a competitor. Then I called Bee Busters. This guy at Bee Busters knows his stuff!!! He asked why I wanted to get rid of them and I said that I'd read on the Internet that the European ones are aggressive. He asked how long I'd had the problem and I said for years. He asked if I had even been stung and I said no. He then proceeded to explain that these wasps eat mosquitoes, spiders, and are unlikely to ever sting me. I had been knocking down the nests and he said not to do that because the queens look for old nests to know where there's a good spot. He said that the only problem with these wasps are that they drink the water off the grass and kids could get stung. If that is the case, he suggests watering at night instead of in the morning and you won't have this problem. By the end, I was completely sold. read more

Called Bee Busters about removing a basketball sized yellowjacket nest under the eave of my roof facing the backyard. The owner George, had me describe the nest to him and walked me through a google search to find pictures of European Paper Wasps, to make sure I had not mis-identified them. We concluded that I did have yellowjackets, but George urged me to consider keeping them as mosquito control. Apparently aerial yellowjackets, as I have, only eat insects and love mosquitos. He explained that the colony would eventually die out when the weather got cold enough. The upshot was that George worked very hard to save me some money and was very patient in explaining his reasonings. By the way, his estimate for removal was quite reasonable. George really knows his bees. There was a bee hive near my home and George went in there, without a suit or gloves, set up another hive, transfered the queen, waited until they bees migrated into the hive, and took it away to be used at a honey bee farm. No chemicals and no bees were harmed. Usually, I would avoid 1 bee flying around me. But George encourage me to wear a hat and stand next to him and the hive to see what is going on. It was amazing. I had hundreds of bees flying around me and no sting. While we were waiting for the bees to migrate, he educated me all sorts of bees knowledge such showing me the queen, the worker bees, etc. I originally just wanted to get rid of the bees but I never thought I would get this one of a kind experience. I popped on here to help out the fantastic Bay Area Bee Busters with a good review and am not surprised to see so many 4 star experiences. Like everyone else who have left comments, George and Dan were efficient, super hepful and reassuring, and quickly eradicated a 6000+ yellow jacket nest for me. The price was reasonable and Dan even saved a cool piece of the nest for my kids to take to school for show & tell. Believe it or not, the above is not what made my experience with Bee Busters extraordinary. The nest was in my neighbors yard and the wasps were flying into my house at an alarming rate. The owners of the house are not reachable with disconnected numbers on every record for them. George went to extra mile to help me cotact the police, animal care & control and the public health department to get permission to go onto the property and take care of the issue.
