Bad news: we had drywood termites. Good news: the evidence was easily visible and we contacted EBAT. Tony inspected our home from top to bottom and explained our options clearly. During the initial evaluation visit, Tony was quick but thorough in his inspection, and showed me the affected areas and clearly explained his findings. In the actual treatment visit, he showed me and explained what he was going to do, and later the results at the end. For both visits, he was on time, and finished within the time estimate he gave me. Derick who came to do the inspection was very professional and patient with all of my questions (even brought his own shoe covers). Thank God my damage was only in localized spot. Explained how they are going to treat it and their 5 year warranty. Scheduled the repair visit. I called EBAT at the beginning of this year, after finding termite droppings under our baseboard a couple months ago. Kim was able to get us scheduled for a free inspection with Derick the following week. Before Derick came to inspect our house, I already had termite inspections from 2 other companies. However, I found that Derick was much more thorough in his inspection than the previous 2 others, taking detailed pictures, videos and explaining what he found, both inside the house, attic, crawl spaces and exterior. He was very knowledgeable, experienced and honest in his assessment and recommendations of what needed to be done, or not done, and very clear in explaining how/why some of the treatment measures recommended by the other 2 companies were just optional added "selling points", though not really necessary. Derick was also extremely patient, kind and understanding of my health conditions (immuno-compromised with high sensitivity to chemicals), as he talked me through the different termite treatment options/strategies (besides tenting) to reduce my risk of chemical exposure. He genuinely tried to work with me to find the best ways to address our termite problem, while considering my medical needs and tight finances. He even talked to and worked with our roofing contractor, to inspect and figure out how to best address areas of termite activity that were difficult to access. Ben (owner) and Raphael came to do the first local Termidor injections and were both very nice in taking time to explain what they were doing and how the treatments work. Our house is 50 years old, so we were very worried when we saw termite frass inside. We had had it tented about 15 years before, and it was a huge amount of work and disruption. I called just before 5:00 pm on Friday and left a message requesting a termite inspection. My next door neighbor's home had to be gutted because of rot and they mentioned something about termites. Once their construction started, tons of ants started flooding into my house. Then little piles of dusty weirdness started popping up in random places in my siding. Monday I get a call back and spoke with someone who asked me why I thought I had termites. I explained about the little wood piles in my siding and she sort of rudely told me to send photos of some of the problem areas. I figured it was a busy Monday and she was being brisk. I emailed them a couple of photos and received back an email pretty quickly. They said their inspector couldn't figure out from the first photo whether or not I had termites , the second photo was from mud wasps and I should call Clark Pest Control. They didn't offer to actually come look at my home, but blew me off and told me to go elsewhere. Aside from being rude, it's very poor customer service. Their website says free termite inspection. Looking at photos and saying "I don't know" doesn't qualify as an inspection. I've lost three days now and have to find someone else to come look at the house. Hope these little guys didn't do too much more damage in those extra days. Of course I'll go somewhere else if they can't be bothered to come look at my house and give an expert opinion.
